Help ! How to go about fixing miniusb port? Xperia Z Tablet - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How do I fix a miniusb port that has malfunctioned for my Sony Xperia Z Tablet? I purchased this a while back and since Sony decided to make there miniusb cord a different size ( barely undetectable by the human eye) I guess I forced my cord and bent the prongs on the female end . Please help!

Xperia P with SONY SmartDock DK20 from ION

I bought online a cheap (less than 20€) original SONY SmartDock DK20 Charger designed for the XPERIA ION.
I was thinking to make it work with XPERIA P, and it does!
Of course the spacing in the plugs is different, but I disassembled the cradle and plugged it directly to hdmi and OTG and now I have a "desktop computer" with 2 usb ports and a large screen, and it charges at the same time!
I am trying to drill new holes on the cradle to adjust to XP but it's a bit tricky with small cables and no space, but it seems possible (when I have time to get back to it).
The other option is to build a new cradle around the board and plugs!
I'll post some photos soon...
Cool dude I was looking for something like that for XP... Really Nice phone without dock is ssd xD.. Ill try to buy it too ;D thanks for the test

[Q] micro usb charging ports on tablet z

I was wondering if experts on this forum can help clarify these questions.
The tablet Z has a rectangular shaped micro usb receptacle which is the microusb A/B type as I understand it. Although the normal popular micro usb B type connector which is supplied with the tablet Will fit in there, it is kind of loose, being able to move a little bit. Whereas the A type connector which is usually found on the OTG cables is a perfect fit and does not move around..
So, why is it that even Sony does not supply a cable which perfectly fit the receptacle?
If I use an otg cable to charge somehow (by making another cable from otg cable for eg or using otg with a normal usb male to male cable), since 5 pins are used in the otg connector will it in any way damage the tablet? (physically or otherwise..)

[Q] MHL Cable

Hi,
I understand that the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is one of the first to have MHL 3.0 (Along with the Z2 Phone) however is there any adapter out at the moment to put this onto to your TV yet?
Is this something that a universal adapter will sort? Is it something I need to wait for Sony to release?
Cheers.

For me, the Samsung MHL does Not Work physically. A third party Adapter From HAMA does Not Work on the Sony, but on the SGS4
I'm Waiting for the Sony MHL to become available now...
I bought this one and it works with my z2 tablet: http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/prod...o-mhl-adapter-rf-g1171-rf-g1171/10214468.aspx

So, seeing I get my Z2 tomorrow, also ask if anybody has tried the MHL to HDMI adapters. Seems a limited choice here where I live, so asking for some additional input.
Seems I can get the official Sony IM750 MHL Adapter, however it doesn't mention the Tablet compatibility, only phones.
I bought a cheap mhl v1 cable that works fine. It just crops the bottom of the screen off on the TV http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281294982152
It has to have a micro usb to power it, but most tvs or dvd players have a spare usb port to power the adapter.

Thanks for the link. I suppose it would come down to whether the TV USB would transmit power via USB, but in the worst case, one could carry a USB charger (seeings I have several of those laying around )
All usb ports supply 5v at 0.3amps min as long as the TV etc is on. Even if it's a diagnostic only usb port it's still enough current.

Sony Xperia Tablet S wont charge

Hello,
I have since this weekend that my Xperia S tablet won't charge.
First I thought it was the cable, however on inspecting the connector of the tablet I saw the following (sorry not a complete sharp image, see attachment).
Look like some pins are bent or not ?
If so, is it possible to replace that on my on (by buying on Ebay, however I could not find any connector. Only the cables)
