Use titanium backup to freeze apps thats enought to remove bloat. You could play around with freezing couple of apps and see if that affects your phone

cool thx for the suggestions!

I used Titanium Backup to rip out every piece of crap that Sprint and HTC felt the need to burden down my One Max with. I said to heck with freezing... Since it was the 1st week I had my phone, I figured if there were any issues I'd just flash my NAND. 8 weeks later, not a single hiccup. Between Nova and Xposed, there's nothing I can think of that I'd even need a custom rom for!

Getting rid of the bloat

Hey!
Love my SGS2, a massive improvement on my HTC Hero!
But, I don't like the masses of Bloatware Samsung include with the phone.
I'm rooted, and have Titanium Backup installed, but I'm unsure as to what I can safely delete/uninstall to get rid of some of the Bloatware.
If anyone has been through and cleaned there device up, can you let me know what you took off please!

I can probably take a decent stab at recommending some bloat to remove, but I don't have a device to test on So it's likely you can break some features when doing it, though you might not even use the features it breaks
So I won't post it for now, to stop the hundreds of people who break their phone and have to reflash, but if you want me to run through some stuff, and you use irc, or know how to, you can pop into #villainrom on freenode and I'll make a few suggestions...
Pulser_g2.
That rings a bell.
I'm sure I used to use your Custom ROMS on the GSM HTC Hero!
And I'll come find you on irc soon - cheers for the help mate!
I removed 65 of the installed apps, lost some useless features, running 100% stable.
I downloaded AntTek app manager which is free and lets you freeze, backup and remove any apps and I've frozen all the hubs and buddies now as have no idea what it is and then removed accuweather, APmobile and few I can't remember and have had no issues
Thanks for the tip; I've frozen a bunch of applications on mine and I'll see if it makes much of a difference.
I couldn't get this work with AntTek. Does your phone need to be rooted for it to work?
Yeah sorry you'llneed to root to get any of these programs that remove apps to work. Think there is a version that doesn't need root but not sure what its limitations are.

Just checked and it says in the description for root/non root customers but if the guy above has tried it then doesn't look like it does alot if you're not rooted. As far as not rooting, its about 5 or 6 clicks, honestly couldn't be easier if you follow the steps on the root thread. I was worried but there's nothing to worry about and can't honestly understand how anyone could get it wrong.

[Q] Get a Clean version of thunderbolt ? [no verizon crap]

Hey,
I'm not an owner of a Thunderbolt, but my wife is. She's annoyed with all the verizon crap on it. What would you guys recommend to do to have a perfectly clean rom ?
She still wants all the HTC Sense stuff and not get used to anything else.
My first though was to root it, and then with Titanium Backup just go over all the apps and uninstall them one by one. But if there is a clean rom that already has that I could be better.
Thank you
I have been flashing a lot of different roms lately but one sense rom I really like Skyraider Zeus. Very nice and stable rom for me.
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
KillaSense, FactorySense, Skyraider are all very clean stock roms that have all the Verizon bloat removed and all run very smooth.

just root the stock app and remove the apps you dont want. She will get rid of the crap & still have her stock rom that she is familiar with...
If you look through the ROMs, there are a couple that are bone stock with the exception of being rooted. Get S-off then install one of those and remove what apps you don't want.
Thank you everyone, I've managed to do everything correctly. I've installed FactorySense. But I'll probably have to try another one because this one doesn't have the HTC Alarm clock app!!!!!
Just use Titanium Backup and "freeze" any of the apps you don't want. You'll need to root in order to use.

If you want, go here http://www.htcthunderbolt4g.com/htc-thunderbolt-custom-roms/gingerbreadrockv1-0-v1-1-(newest-gingerbread-leak)/ and you can download the stock rom that ships with the thunderbolt. Its the latest version and has all the bloatware from verizon removed (3.1a version) except the data usage app/widget
there is version 3.0a - rooted but nothing removed
& 3.1a - rooted and debloated as well as other tweaks
There are other roms around as well if this doesnt suit you
Thanks, this looks great, I think I'll try to install that tomorrow!
The only other rom I was looking at was the MR4:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457659
But this one 3.1a is probably better right ? I need just the most stable one

Ok so what now?

Ok so I'm fairly new to the whole rooting thing but I have been studying up quite abit. Lots of really good videos on youtube!! So I'm just looking for some direction on what kind of things I can/should do now that I have rooted my phone. Here is the break down so far:
Rooted - Towelroot
Root Browser Installed
BusyBox Installed
Safestrap Installed and backup saved
Titanium Back Up Installed. Most Bloatware has been safely removed with no issues thus far
SuperSu Installed
Terminal Emulator Installed
CPU Tuner installed but have absolutely no clue what I am doing - still researching this
I think that is about it. So any tipps on next direction would greatly be appreciated!!
Thanks in advance

Make phone calls... or browse the internet.
Mine does facebook good.
All the root, customization , ect. is just to make it do what YOU want it to do. If there isn't something your trying to get it to do that it doesn't... There isn't really a what next, be happy.
If there IS something your trying to get it to do that it doesn't... that next.
edit: though if your not using a custom rom you should probably freeze the program that controls OTA updates. Hopefully someone can chime in with what its called... Been awhile and I forget, and just flashed a rom instead of worrying about it last time I updated my phone.
Like you, I've frozen/killed/uninstalled all the crapware I could. Beyond that, all I've done is installed the Google Launcher. My phone is well behaved and pretty responsive, with minimal lag.
All I would really want at this point is an unlocked bootloader so I could install a straight Google ROM.

I'm on NC5 and have been happily running GPE ROM for quite awhile now. Only problem is the Kernel difference so there's no USB transfer.
Thanks for the reply's. Yeah I don't really game or anything. Heck I don't even Facebook lol but I would like to Play around with getting better battery life and maybe a little speed. Not that I really need too, the response is very good and the lag is only noticeable at times. I want to play around with the CPU tuner but I'm nervous about messing something up and I have not installed a new Kernel yet and from what I have read that is a must.

NO! Installing a new kernel on SafeStrap NC5 is not a must! It will brick your phone! You can use TW based ROMS and one or two very special AOSP Roms, no new kernels though!

I use android tuner for my tuning needs. Really expansive options and a really great app. If you want a really light ROM fort SS GPE ROMs are about 400-500MB. Gets rid of clunky touchwiz and solely runs on Google Now Launcher. Only bummer is the loss of the Touchwiz camera app.

HyperDrive is solid and a good ROM for those newer to 'all this' IMO. I am on BlackBox which is stupid fast and has great battery life but is a little buggy. I've had it on my phone for over a week now and have no plans of taking it off anytime soon. But it's up to you now. Just make sure you wipe everything before you flash, always make a backup beforehand and only flash ROM's that are proven on your device and your bootloader and you will be money. Also, read read read the threads before flashing.

it's called SDM in the system portion... and I would get lucky patcher and black mart alpha installed to. these give you access to everything and all the paid apps too.
Add a tethering/hotspot app.

[Q] Bloatware Remover ?

Hi all,
Could a skilled developer please make a Bloatware remover for the S6?
There is sooo much crap that I dont want to have installed, and using a 32Gb unit, I would love to get back 1 Gb.
From S5 I remember we removed easily 900Mb+....
Agreed.

I am so happy not to have that utterly useless and stupid evernote. However, I wish they never bundled instagram. Even though I froze it, I still feel like a useless shallow a*shole to even have it on my phone.

It doesn't remove it, just blocks it. If I dont need it, I would like to free up 800-900 Mb of space.
I should have a script I used for my S5, I'll have a look at it to see if I can use it on the S6 with a few mods...
If you are rooted, it can remove apps as well..

Yes, I had my S8+ successfully rooted, but had to go back since Amazon Flex app would not run on a rooted device
Rooted, went back to stock, then rerooted. Only using it for viper, titanium backup, and adaway though. Also like that I can have a nand-like backup with ff in case I screw something up.

Yeah, I'm still kicking around - I remember you too. Sprint side of things is pretty dead in the s8+ world. Think it's because we're all in the same boat this time, so we're all just glomming onto the generic snapdragon s8+ threads. Instead of having a different section for each carrier, it would probably make more sense for xda to just have a snapdragon section.
oh yeah, I also used root explorer to change my boot animation and to disable some sounds.

So you actually rooted? I don't see the point in rooting as of right now thanks to adhell (v2) and substratum. Only thing I really miss is TiBu, but that's all.
But yeah. deff would make more sense to have a QCOM section instead of different carriers.

It's the stock volume that kills it for me. Guess I'm getting old (or spoiled from the s6) but even with volume turned all the way up, it's still not loud enough through bt. I went back to stock thinking volume wasn't worth rooting for, but I got pissed off when I couldn't hear through my speaker or headphones and went back to viper again. Battery is still great, even with the 80% limit, and the glitchiness from being rooted is pretty minimal. And I like adaway and titanium better than Adhell 2 for blocking ads and dealing with apps - they seem to do a better job.
If it wasn't for the volume issue though, I would probably just stay on stock.
