Camera glitches:
Camera fix / workaround "Another Camera Fix (It's really a workaround) to try > Post #23" This should be no longer needed as CM has included this in their base

Build 14 [2014-05-15]:
Carbon Togari (2014-05-15) - Direct XDA Download
Install
As the build of 11/05 had a broken recovery the install instructions above may not work, depending on whether you have flashed a different boot.img to the one in the zip.
If you have already flash a different kernel/recovery over build 11 (11th may) then you don't need to follow the instructions below
Download the new build (#12) and copy to the ZU
Open the D/Ld ROM on a PC and extract the boot.img file from the zip and save
Power off the ZU and connect to the PC while holding the Vol. Up Key to enter fastboot
Open flashtool (or use adb/fastboot) and flash the boot.img, should take about 2 sec
Reboot into recovery
Flash ROM as normal, Wipe as you see fit.
Sorry for any inconvenience that this has caused
Build 13 [2014-05-14]:
removed as unneeded
Build 12 [2014-05-12]:
removed as unstable
Build 11 [2014-05-11]:
Carbon Togari (2014-05-11) - Direct XDA Download
Recovery doesn't seem to work in this build
Download any of these kernels: DT2W_CM11_build-9.zip or CM11-Kernel_Carbon-default_build-9.zip from the download tab above or PimpedKernel and flash immediately after flashing the ROM (don't reboot between flashes) to have a working recovery

Kernels
Different kernels for different users:
Carbon DT2W 4.4.4: [07-07-2014] This is a kernel that has @reaper61616's Double Tap to Wake incorporated into it. It may work better without two screen protectors on (after-market and ASF), please post your thoughts on how well it works. Please thank reaper in his thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2692552
DT2W is enabled by default:
Code:
Disable DT2W:
In terminal write: su -c "echo 0 > /sys/android_dt2w/dt2w_active"
After reboot DT2W will be activated again. If you want to make it disabled by default add the above init.d script!
GPL'd source: https://github.com/BlueEther/android_kernel_sony_msm8974/tree/dt2w
CM 11 kernel - no dt2w
http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=7253
Pimped Kernel: This kernel is a port of the Z1's Pimped Kernel and has many features including CPU/GPU OC/UC, hundruds of governors etc and is built with many optimisations http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2730353
Slim Kernel: This kernel has been built by @dbolivar and uses the Linaro toolchain, SlimKats kernel, and optimisations (-O2, -mcpu, -mtune etc.). Please See his thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2698146
Default CM11 - From build 15: [31-05-2014] This kernel my fork of CM11's main branch and is the one that is normally in the full Carbon kk zip. With DT2W.
GPe version:
There is now a seperate section for the GPe version of this rom. This can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51046259

any graphics glitches, like the Sony boot logo flashing up? I'm wonder if some of the issues I had were from the dirty flash. I'll re-flash when my phone is recharged and do some testing.

no Sony boot logo. It happens when having too many (possibly duplicate) xposed modules activated (noticed that on liquid too) but that is a separate issue (and i should not have the modules set up that way anyway)
Works great so far ...
Thanks bro
i tried installing the zip using both recoveries, but they both insist my device is honami while it clearly shows under settings that mine is C6802
is there something wrong with the update script?
Thanks in advance:silly:
P.S.: i tried installing it on 136 with unlocked BL
Wow Finally !! Thread for Carbon ROM for our device .. I was waiting eagerly for this ..!! thanx alot Blueether!!

As long as the backup is from 290 or 136 based ftf/ROM then no problems. The only issue is going down to a 4.2 ROM/ftf

Okay got it thanks
Bugs list.
Well i haven't seen anyone share the same problems as me, but i would i like to share some of the bugs i have encountered, just in case you guys can solve them.
Bugs list:
Whatsapp and Instagram does not work on data.
Camera performance is awful imo compared to stock sony.
Asphalt 8 crashes before a race starts. Not when the game itself starts but right before a race.
OK this may not be a bug but i cant seem to get any notifcation sound for anything no matter what setting i use. The only sound coming out of my phone is when someone calls me or when I play music out loud. Nothing for messages, whatsapp(on WiFi) or twitter.
Occasional graphical glitch and unstable screen brightness
Slight stuttering occasionally(not much of an issue for me but its there nonetheless)
If you guys know how to solve, please let me know.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm not a ROM developer but I'll do what I can ...
Instagram works fine here over 3G
Camera performance? photo quality? or speed? There has been issues with the speed of the camera starting and some FC on some of the 4.4 ROMs but they look to be gone as of now as the camera is functioning as I would expect here: the carbon one, a better camera and the paid FV-5 all are working well
Not going to install games to test them
Sound for notifications is working here
I do get the 'Sony' logo flash up occasionally when the screen does a full redraw - I've seen that in several ROMs and I think in Stock .136 so it's probably a driver issue
The screen brightness is stable, but looks to take a few seconds sometimes to change to lighting conditions
I cant say I've seen any slowdown or stutter as of yet
Did you wipe the Data partition and both caches when you installed?

I'm talking about photo quality.
In my case for Instagram, no matter how many times i try to refresh the feed, it just says "Couldn't refresh feed"
No matter what settings i use, i get nothing when i receive a message or anything.
Anyways, i believe i did wipe cache and dalvik cache.
format data as well (could be named factory reset depending on recovery)?
You will lose apps and settings but does make for a much more stable ROM

Yup did that too
Blueether..one thing and this is general to all kitkat 4.4 roms for togari..am experiencing every so often (tried carbon, liquid etc) after some extended use and sometimes even limited use that all of a sudden the caller at the other end (or receiver at other end) of a phone call will not be able to hear my voice (fresh clean installs etc..took out any call recording etc programs or xposed mods-not that they work anyway on 4.4). This is maddening. While there is great functionality in the 4.4 aosp/kp etc builds this inconsistency is pretty disconcerting (like I said, it starts doing this after some extended usage sometiems with limited usage like a nandroid restore this morning-so pretty random but then does not go away even with reboots etc until I do another fresh install). I did not experience anything like this on the 4.3 builds (stock or de-odexed stock). Am going back reluctantly to the 4.3 (136) saved nandroid. Think maybe official 4.4 needs to come for this device.

I think its carbon itself that there arent any carbon wallpapers and device tunables are empty....
otherwise the rom is smooth as hell and battery life is great!!
keep up the good work! I would like to see more future updates from you for this rom
BTW this is the only KitKat based rom that has the new DSP Manager working (Y)
So a short impression of the ROM:
Good Memory Management, Great Battery Life but Bluetooth File Transfer isn't working, right?

Introduction:
MoKee OpenSource is based on the Google AOSP. We update our source code frequently to keep up with the latest development, and not forgetting to merge in special features of our own at the same time.
A small group of people from around the world who are interested in Android launched this project on the 12th of December 2012, and is committed to make this ROM better and better. Like most contributors of open source projects (Omni, CyanogenMod, Slim AOSPA etc), we are doing all these in our free time as our passion...
Since this project is open source, anyone interested can participate in the development (maintain new devices, contribute code etc). Newcomers are always welcomed!
Read here for developer application; with this, you can host your unofficial MoKee builds on our server!

Artas few days ago said on his facebook page that his kernel was buggy and he's working on fixing those bugs. Since this rom, like many others, is based on his work, I think there is a lot of room for improvement. So keep up the good work. :fingers-crossed:
I also had a bootloop when tried to switch to ART. I know it's experimental and it's not a fully supported feature yet - just a fair warning.
Big thanks for your work and time!

Thank you a lot. I don't really need Bluetooth, but I need my phone. When you fix it I will test it as a daily driver.
I also hope Artas fixes his kernel. It's great but it has some problems. He's a good developer, but I don't think he has enough time to polish his work. Fingers crossed for it and him.

About the GPe version:
Only for C6806_GPe from Google, do not flash on a normal Z-Ultra
This is untested by me as I don't have access to a GPe Z-Ultra. Use at your own risk
The GPe version has been flashed and booted. Thanks to @CCJ22 for testing this out.
The GPe version of Carbon is built with CM11 device tree so will have any CM11 Togari and Togari_GPe bugs tat come from the device tree
[ROM][4.4.2][Unofficial] Carbon KitKat - Togari GPe [2014-03-11]
@CCJ22, I think I have found the problem with the GPe build. I had missed a line in the config of the build so had pulled in some togari stuff instead of GPe. Should be sorted now. Building a new version now, will upload in the morning

Awesome sounds good. But I'm just now getting around to test. The MMS and calls not working was CM11.
OP, I'm here to report this has (so far) ran flawless on my GPE. I've had it on for about 15 minutes and loving it. Much more so then CM11.
Calls and MMS both work fine on GPE. Video I made coming up shortly. (Although not very well made video)
Question, is carbon rom based off CM11?
Also, can us GPE guys get our own thread by chance in the GPE section of forum? That way we can keep comments seperate? I don't mean to fuss, and not a big deal if it's too much trouble.
---------- Post added at 11:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:43 PM ----------
**UPDATE** trimming a video with built in gallery trimmer force closes. Not that I ever really use it but FYI

Good to know that it is running smooth
Carbon is based on ASOP (and other bit and bobs) and I have pulled the device tree in from CM11, as has Liquid and slim will aswell (if I get it to build fully)

Found another problem, music youtube, etc... Make no sound.
I find it interesting that your rom makes the calls and MMS but CM11 doesn't. Ah well. Great ROM
Here is a video showing proof of the rom working.
Disregard the beginning of the video where I mention working with the rom developer. I should have stated, the OP assisted me in getting this rom working on my device and only wanted to return the favor by making a review.
I DID NOT, do any work on the rom itself. All credit to the OP on this great rom.

All credit goes to the team behind the ROM and those that did the bring-up on the CM device tree, all I did was import the device tree into the carbon source and compile it
I'm uploading a build from today to the Downloads tab above, will update the OP when up - about 30 min
Nice little carbon review

Blue, when I flash this updated rom (thank you for compiling these for us GPE owners btw) do I have to clear delvik, user mem, and cache?
I'm worried I'll lose all my apps data and all my settings of how I set up the carbon fibers.
I guess, what I'm asking is for those of us that are newbs that already have this rom, but an older version of it, and want the newer version... How do we flash newer version without losing all the app data and all the settings?
I know with CM11 when I would get a nightly I just download and let it do it's thing. But since carbon, is much preferred and I'm forced to manually download and install (not built into it like CM11) what's the method I should use?

Good question, the sort that I don't mind spending time to answer (and thinking about the answer)
When updating a ROM you should be able to forget about the format Data and just wipe the cache and dalvick cache. This will keep all the installed apps and their config etc.
If you are brave you can switch ROMs like that as well but is likely to make things unstable. Not too bad going from one AOSP based ROM to another but to something like CM/PAC/etc it is more likely that things will play up and you will get FC and the like.

Disclaimer
I'm not responsible for any damages on your device.
Some of you perhaps already know me from SlimSaber i9100 thread. My focus is to optimize the ROM in many areas and compiled it with custom toolchain Uber for more performance and smoothness.
I choose SlimRoms as a base because it is a lightweight and not a bloated ROM, but it still has rich features. Combined with some of CM features, I bake a ROM that has more useful features but still lightweight.
The ROM and the kernel are tested by me first before I make it available online. I could have overseen something during testing, please be understand.
Installation instructions
Coming from 5.1.1 or another ROM:
Follow the guide how to unlock bootloader and install custom recovery from here
Flash TWRP 3.0 from this thread
Full wipe: system, data, cache and dalvik cache.
Flash 20150515 firmware if you haven't flash it yet. Refer to the FAQ on second post for more information.
Flash SlimSaber build.
Flash Marshmallow gapps (6.0, arm, pico) from OpenGapps
Flash systemless SuperSU >= 2.67 from this thread
Coming from previous SlimSaber build:
Flash the SlimSaber build.
Flash systemless SuperSU
No need to wipe dalvik-cache. The system will do it anyway if it needs to.
No need to re-flash gapps. Gapps will be restored back automatically by backup tool during flashing.

Chamber of Secrets
In my opinion, this is the most powerful Slim feature ever implemented. However this is a dangerous feature which is hidden by default.
How to enable it:
Go to Development Settings - Scroll to the bottom - Tap the empty area
How to use it:
Go to your home screen
Add a widget and choose Slim Shortcuts
Since it is a type of shortcut, you can use it somewhere else, e.g. in Nova launcher's gesture.
Click Chamber of Secrets
Go to https://github.com/SlimSaber/frameworks_base/blob/lp5.1/core/java/android/provider/Settings.java and pick one of settings name
There are two types of settings: A switch setting and a value-based setting
If you are unsure about the setting type, don't use this setting because which value that will be used is matter. You could end up with continuous FC or even a full wipe.
Example for switch setting: show_alarm_icon
Enter the setting name "show_alarm_icon"
Answer Switch question to "yes"
Example for value-based setting: statusbar_clock_style
Enter the setting name "statusbar_clock_style"
Answer Switch question to "no"
Enter the possible value: "0,1,2"
If you aren't sure about the values, don't use this setting

Mobile data issue when using Alpha modem especially with T-Mobile carrier
Alpha modem causes unexplained battery drain
If you haven't flash CM12 firmwares, you need to flash it. Refer to the CM12 firmwares FAQ.
If you already have flashed it, check and change your APN. Don't use the IPv6 APN, here is how to do it.
If all above methods don't work, then you need to use the old 44S modem with an older sensor blob. You still need CM12 firmwares.
Here are the steps of using the old modem:
Flash CM12 firmwares
Flash ROM + gapps
Flash 44S modem
Flash older sensor blob. Thanks to NoSpamDan
Reboot to ROM
If you dirty flash a new build, you need to flash the older sensor blob again, but you don't need to flash the 44S modem again.
How to use SlimSaber Lollipop along with KitKat with Multirom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58500100&postcount=4610
I have a bootloop when flashing build 01/18 onwards
What is CM12 firmwares and how to flash it
CM12 firmwares are the firmwares that are pulled from CM12 nightly and starting from build 20150118 onwards, it is mandatory to flash these firmwares prior flashing the rom. Otherwise you'll end up with bootloop.
The zip file contains 8 firmwares including the Alpha modem for the partition: emmc_appsboot.mbn, logo.bin, NON-HLOS.bin, rpm.mbn, sbl1.mbn, sdi.mbn, static_nvbk.bin, and tz.mbn
If you are using Multirom, don't flash it through Multirom menu. Flash it through the main TWRP menu "Install".
If you see a bigger "OnePlus One" logo, then you have successfully flashed CM12 firmwares.
You just need to flash this only once as these firmwares are shared among all roms. This means if you flashed CM12 firmwares, then you cannot use KK roms. Refer to the next FAQ for downgrade possibility.

Repacked TWRP (Standard and MultiROM)
Q: What is the difference between kantjer's repacked TWRP recovery and the official one?
A: It's stock TWRP with a materialised look curtain (splash screen)
Q: What is the repacked TWRP MultiROM?
A: Like the standard repacked TWRP, but it has an additional menu 'MultiROM' to be used to install secondary ROMs.

With stock cm11s camera would be awesome
I think so too, you should add the appropriate Camera.apk since there is no point in having a camera that can't do 4K videos on a 4K device
I know i shouldn't, but all those optimizations stuff led me to download Antutu.. Strange enough i got around 34k which is quite low, isn't it?
Stock cm11s works just download the apk and install it normally.

we all know that, that's not the problem =)

I am a huge fan of SlimKat... But your roms are new to me.
I read your first post and cannot differentiate how you are different from SlimKat.
Do you simply provide more fixes/optimizations over what SlimKat could not deliver?
I'd love to try your rom, but I'd rather not waste my time flashing it if SlimKat works so perfectly for me already.
I do, however, would like to how how you are different from SlimKat and what you bring to the table.
Many thanks

The changelog should give you an indication of what is new on this. This will be updated regularly compared to Slim. Built using sabermod which gives it an extra oomph. It's like an ever changing Slim with new commits being included. Like the sunlight eligibility is a very new feature.

AICPAndroid Ice Cold Project
AICP is known by everyone as Ice Cold Project that started on Desire HD and since then evolved into a mature ROM with the BEST community you can find!!!
Until Lollipop, Rom has always been AOKP based. Unfortunately, since AOKP either stopped development or will make a comeback later this year, we changed our base to CM when it comes to hardware, drivers and some features.
If there are any bugs, either we will sort them or CM team if it concerns their modifications. This rom isn't CM supported so no need to report errors or bugs to them!!

Don't disable Heads-Up. You wont be able to answer phone calls otherwise.
You tell...
ROMS should contain everything you need to enjoy Lollipop. You are not required to install any Add Ons, simply download the latest ROM, gapps, flash it, and go!
You are STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing, and if possible avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup - these can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug. If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience strange behavior.

-----------------------
Those who are using TWRP 2.8+ need to follow the below instructions to flash, if you are having binary errors during flashing. This will require editing a file in the downloaded ROM zip file.
Step 1. Extract the downloaded ROM zip to a known location (Desktop/Downloads/etc) in a separate folder, using any software you normally use, and navigate to "META-INFcomgoogleandroid".
Step 2. Open the "updater-script" file in a proper text editor. DO NOT use normal Notepad/TextEdit. Use Notepad++ (Windows), Notepad2 (Windows), TextWrangler (Mac OS X), or gedit/equivalent (Linux distros). If you are on Windows and don't want to download software, WordPad (NOT Word) will work.
Step 3. Remove the first line of the opened file entirely, so that the second line becomes the first line. The line needing removal should look like this (as of nightly build 2/21/15):
Code:
ifelse(is_mounted("/system"), unmount("/system"));
Step 4. Save the file, re-zip the folders and files so that they are all listed in the topmost directory of the ZIP file. (Same layout as original file)
Step 5. Re-attempt to flash the rom. (CM11 re-flash might be necessary)

KERNEL:
Kernel in this rom follows CM source with custom additions.
PREREQUISITE FOR OTA:
To be able to flash over OTA app, TWRP recovery is needed.
You can still use CWM and OTA app, but only to download zip file and flash it manually from within recovery. Zip gets saved under AICP_ota folder on your internal SDcard.

You don't need to go back to stock to get GPS to work. Follow this (no data is lost, no flashing to stock is required:
1. Boot into the bootloader as per usual and hook up to your PC so you have fastboot access (May need drivers etc)
2. Run "fastboot devices" in command prompt to ensure your moto X is visible to your PC, if not go back to step 1.
3. Run the following 2 commands to clear your Radio/Modem cache
Code:
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
4. Reboot, and you should have working GPS.

Horrible because I got lost twice and ended up consuming petrol that I need to save.
If its CM 12 based dont you have the out call bug & BT bug?
Thank you for your development for our phones. Its nice to see new ROMs showing up for a device that doesn't get many.
I'm not a big CM fan since all the issues I read about, but once they get ironed out I'll be trying your ROM.
(Sad that the first 3 posts aren't even thanking the makers, rather just complaining right off the bat.)

Outgoing call bug was fixed in yesterday's CM12 nightly.
Any bootloops coming from the standard flash procedure? Say in my case, coming from PAC-ROM? Or should I dirty flash over it?

You bet but we are talking about AICP which has not acknowledged that fact in this thread. So are both bugs fixed in AICP ?

Its based on CM so I just assumed they merged the commits. I downloaded the latest nightly but have yet to test it. Last time I used this ROM hotspot wasn't working which is a huge no go for me.

Thanks for the update. That probably means you just carry the BT issue and battery drain from CM12. Thanks again. I'll tty it out one of these days
Sent from my Moto X
I don't find any BT issue but battery drain is still massive. Another issue I found is with profiles. Activating profiles freezes the system beyond any chance to release it. I needed to activate the restore. Otherwise everything works perfect for me including calling, voip, tethering, vpn, gps, nfc, wifi, lte, certificates, bt, active display. Besides profiles issue the system is fast and stable. Fixing energy consumption and profiles would make it almost perfect.

Need to check these profiles.. We may need some missing parts.. Does it same on CM12?
Never managed to install CM12 on my XT1052 no matter what method I used. I installed it on Galaxy 4 and there I used only trusted unlock features which work without any problem.

I am also Using XT1052.
What i did to flash CM12:-
(i) Flashed CM11 latest nightly . ( I googled it and found one for XT1058)
(ii) Allowed CM11 to complete the boot.
(iii) Then i dirty flashed CM12 latest Nightly.
If you follow exact steps you will not get bootloop .
and I am on TWRP 2.8.1.0
Hope this helps.
Hey guys latest versions battery consumption is strange..Mobile Standby consumes a lot much.
