Hi you don't have any solution if you don't want to loose data
If you unlocked bootloader you will loose data
if you dont want to unlock bootloader you must revert first to 10.3.1.C.0.136 to be able to root it and you will loose data

Hi, iam new to Sony but did have htc wildfire I've rooted and overclocked, iam about to root Sony Xperia mini but I've noticed someone say theres 2 different methods depending on your bootloader I've done that *# code and checked it says yes so what iam wondering and wanting to find out is how to check the bootloader is locked or unlocked, iam on .62 software iam looking to downgrade, root then update, any help would be appreciated thanks

Connect it to flashtool and look at the Bootloader Status: ROOTED or ROOTABLE. ROOTED means the bootloader is unlocked
Or you type *#*#7378423#*#* and go to service info -> configuration -> rooting status:
bootloader unlocked: yes [obviously it's unlocked ]
bootloader unlock allowed: yes [unlockable]
bootloader unlock allowed: no [not unlockable, only with a paid method]
Ok thank you, iam sure its locked and with *# I get yes so that means its unlockable, all I wanna do is delete standard apps that come on phone. So should I use and follow your method for locked bootloader? Do I just flash straight over the .62, thanks

Sorry also where u say
MAKE SURE PC COMPANION OR SONY UPDATE SERVICE ISN'T RUNNING IN BACKGROUND WHILE YOU ARE FLASHING!!! DON'T USE THIS METHOD IF YOUR BOOTLOADER IS UNLOCKED, OTHERWISE YOUR DEVICE WILL BRICK!! (Unlocked bootloader can't do updates over the air, but flashing won't destroy your phone on unlocked bootloader!)
Is that on pc? Thanks

Yes this is on PC
Yes just follow the guide to root it and afterwards you can delete all unwanted apps :good:

Hi all, I have rooted my mothers lg p769 tmobile phone with the lgpwn.apk and removed some bloat and have no recovery yet. I want to install a custom recovery cwm twrp whichever is considered stable at this moment in time.
thanks in advance, I'm a little short on time right now is all. shes leaving on the second.
device info:
android version is 4.1.2
baseband version L6260_MODEM_SIC_01.1305.00
kernel version 3.0.31
software version P76920h
You need to unlock the bootloader before installing twrp. And that's not easy.

Hello all hope somebody will give me proper guidance and links of threads.
Just got my Xperia ultra today it is United Kingdom (GB) model number C6833 with Build number 14.2.A.0.290
I am very new to Sony Xperia phones, have bit experience in rooting HTC, Archos, Samsung but Xperia is new to me.
I did some research and found it is only possible to root 290 firmware with Unlocked bootloader. Here is the problem start I don't want to loose my DRM keys by unlocking bootloader, wanted to have backup of TA partition before I unlock my bootloader if I needed in case. I can't backup without Root so I am stuck and confused what to do? Is it possible to downgrade to other firmware to root my Xperia ultra then I can backup my DRM keys. Also found some posts by users saying if you downgrade from 290 you loose IMEI so is there any solution?
your help and guidance will be highly appreciated.

Follow the top sticky in this section.
Imei isn't a problem if you go back to 290 ftf, and even if you don't there are solutions.

You can revert back and will probably loose imei. But you will still be able to root and backup your TA that is intact. And from there use any ROM you want.

Hi
I'm a new user of Z2 D6503. I have the newest Android Lollipop, 23.1.A.0.726.
I'd like to get root without unlocking Bootloader and I don't want to downgrade software via Flashtool because I've had some problems with flashtool with my Z3 Tablet Compact.
Is there any way to root Z2 without unlocking bootloader and without downgrade? Any tools/rootkits etc?

Well first off how did you upgrade to 5.0.1? Did you take the OTA? If you did then you can not down grade.

You will not be able to flash a recovery. Only people with the old MDK boot loader can.

My recommendation to you mate is that you root using the desktop version of king root, replace it with SuperSU, install flash fire beta, then install Strang5Litre ROM. Probably one of the best most stable Roms (and the only one out there at the moment) Everything you need is in the general section
