Im on MDK now; I want to be using the latest ROM available for my phone without loosing the capabilities of having a custom recovery. What is the best ROM to install on my MDK version? I would prefer something with the latest android version. Thanks in advance.
What ROM are you running right now? I went from jrkruse's stock touchwiz ROM, to cm11, and am currently on slimkat 4.4.2 weekly 3.4 build

I'm on a rooted stock tw ROM with android version 4.2.2. I can't stand the bloated ROM from Samsung anymore. some apps lag and I hate that.
Understandable, I'd honestly recommend slimkat. I'm generally more of a cm guy but slim has made some really nice innovations in terms of the look and feel. They completely redid the recent apps menu with the 3.4 weekly

i've been using this google play dev edition rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2643031
it's got the goodness of AOSP with the advantage of not having to build drivers from scratch. it's freaky how badly TW slows down the entire phone!

I've been running Eclipse Progressive Build 7 for the past month. I have flashed just about every ROM out there and this is the most staple, fast, smooth with great battery life ROM of all of them. I understand everyone has there own opinion and preferences. You have to go to the Developer's web site to download, go here: http://www.elementalxdesigns.com/ec...-Loki-amp-Safestrap-Progress-Build07-(1-28-14). I promise, you won't be disappointed.
Welll .. another opportunity for me to recommend Liquid Smooth 4.4
Oh and we have Slim's Recents . tons of options, more than any aosp I've flashed. And everything runs great with ART as well. Give it a try

It's really fast too, much better than the normal Samsung bloat. The only problem i have with it is that the notifications appear to be in the reverse order. Newer items appear on top.

Interesting. Nice find, I didn't know this one. I will test to see if it's really KitKat :good:
Edit: it is a beautiful ROM, but it isn't KitKat. It's the same Android JB we all have in our devices. I'm considering to keep it installed.

well its nice, much lighter than the original stock rom. Plus its better and much sleeker than the touchwiz. Although its not a major upgrade like cyanogenmod. But yeah, worth more than the stock rom. One of the cleanest rom for grand quattro :good:

Yes, I tested. Let me write a little review.
I would say Bionic Monkey (the name of the rom) is a stock-based rom, with some interesting mods. By default the rom changes the DPI, so more things fit on screen. Some apps are KitKat-themed, like contacts or dialer. The stock launcher was replaced by Google Experience Launcher. It's also pre-rooted and has support to multiwindow. I didn't test multiwindow, but I think it's nice on that rom because of DPI.
The major disadvantage is that the rom is not KitKat, despite the system info. You can test it by installing any app only for KitKat - it will refuse to install.
So, in general, it's a good rom for daily use, so you might give it a try.

There's no KK for us, at least for now. All the roms that claim to be any Android higher than 4.1.2 are actually themed roms with mods on build.prop, but in fact they are Android 4.1.2.
The exception is CM (the one in link provided by you), that is KK in fact. But is still unstable and not suited for daily use.

Are any developers working on unlocking these baseband versions to allow installing custom recoveries like TeamWin and Clockworkmod?
I would love to install Cyanogenmod or the Google Play Edition rom on my S4, but only TouchWiz-compatible roms work with safestrap, the only existing recovery for these basebands that I know of.

We do not do the stable or best rom thing here.
As XDA is not a support site, members are expected to do their own research into what is best or most stable for them.
Hey,
I've been using CM's Nightly 6.0 ROM [11/26] for the past 24hrs and it's OK, most things work properly, although flashing SuperSU gets me bootlooped and I cannot gain root access in any other way (Dev options etc).
So I've been wondering, for those of you who are using a Marshmallow ROM on your OPO,which one are you using and how stable is it?
Latest official cm13 nightly, most stable so far.
There is root, it works fine.
Ask that in Android General or somewhere..this is for deveolpment i believe....but try VM13 its the best 6.0 IMO
Broken Os is flawless. Can't be found on XDA though. Over on Google +.
I like darkobas as a rom and you need to also go on google plus as no xda

Faster and more stable, and kernel 3.10. CM has some problems such as bluetooth connection or suddenly get soft reboot, or some crazy issues when your device works for a long time without reboot. And I think have no reason for trying a unlocked bootloader ROM with kernel 3.4.

That is not pure AOSP. I am telling about AOSP 5.1.1 by FXP team..
Fxp team aosp 5.1.1 is alright but its camera is really bad and the rom has several performance issues
I'd love to switch from stock to cyanogenmod but i keep getting random soft reboots
Aosp is harder to port but provides a faster and smoother aswell as a more pure experience
Cm is easier to port but same as aosp, if not done properly then its not worth

They are all quite similar as they are all based off xiaomis official rom, basically think of them as an unofficial official rom. Multirom (I think) is based off xiaomi EU's rom with some added tweaks mods by the devs(Russian).
Xiaomi EU use the official (chinese typically) rom as a Base and add some tweaks, remove bloat/Chinese apps and probably, most importantly add additional language support, as xiaomi doesn't sell/market their devices in Europe (just certain countries outside China eg india) and so this obviously makes devices much more usable for users across different countries.

xMiui is not prebuilt, don't think so. Advanced reboot option is enabled by default, something similar to AOSP roms.
CN stable - play services crash bugged the hell out of me.. I don't know how many times I wiped the play services cache and data. Other than that, it was ok, not much different from CN beta.
TBH, the best rom that I have come across in terms of usability is xiaomi eu, they have mixed and matched features from china and global rom. And I say this after using them across two devices. I guess I'll have to let go of xposed to get a working rom which is fluid and has all features as well. Damn, money wasted in buying those modules!: silly:
Multirom is all about ram management and speed. Rest everything is as good as the official roms.
