So I upgraded to KitKat this am and just read this
http://m.androidcentral.com/kitkat-sdcard-changes
I can verify I have an issue, Root Explorer cannot write to the SD. File Commander works fine. I have no reason to root other than this, and have not rooted till now.. Is there any fix?

If you have root on the phone you can follow this post worked for me..
i only use File Manager ...
:good::good:

Just root and install this app.
I really don't want to root because of warranty issues. I'll do it after my year warranty is up. Guess I'll just use File Commander, it's not nearly as cool as Root Explorer but I'll live with it.
I guess if you don't want to root you can just adapt using File Commander.
I'm a Es File Manager guy, and I'm bummed I can't use it, but let's give File Commander a chance first.

Is there another app to see samba shares I have on my network? Because EsFileExplorer can see them, but now I'm limited to copying files on internal memory... And I don't seem to find it in file Commander...

I'm pretty sure QuickPic will also have issues.

The files are attatched, do you know how to set them up? if not please wait and reply that you need instructions..
I haven't done any additional fine tuning to them as it was just a small fun prject, but if you'd like I could detail it out a little more.
Hi I've been on holiday.
Thx for the files... do we just replace existing files after backing up?

Correct, use root explorer to set permissions. Should look like an upside down L

Then overwrite the existing files and reboot

I did this to my S3. What are "system/app" and "r/w?"

System/app is a subdirectory where you move the file to. r/w means read/write. You have to temporarely change the permission of the folder so the file can be written in there when you move it.
You can also just reflash whatever rom is on your phone at the moment; just wipe cache and NOT data... should not lose anything.

Zombie Thread
Found this while trolling.
This is not my work.
Copy that Themed APK to your phone (SD-Card) and install it after you removed your previous installed version of the App.
Once the apk is installed , goto menu / more / settings / Display Style / and select XDA Free.
Make sure you set permissions
Free XDA_App_ICS_Blue_Themed.apk
Download
So I was trolling "again", this apk works for the paid version. But because it is the paid version I cant just post it. Post a screenshot confirming purchase, and I will send you link.
