[App/Solution] [Advanced Reboot ~ Without Xposed] - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

I've found the Xposed Framework a little buggy when running on the new kitkat Sony Rom, with many fc's when running and few when not. (Probably due to an specific module and not Xposed 2.5b2 fault, not casting aspersions).
One of the major advantages of installing the Xposed framework is it allows us to enable Advanced Reboot functionality. I have found a simple Workaround to get a working Advanced Reboot without having to put up with the (currently) kitkat unfriendly Xposed Framework and resultant fc's.
Install ROM Toolbox from Google Play.
Lite: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.liberty.toolbox
Pro: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.liberty.toolboxpro
I'm not promoting this app specifically; I've used it for years and have just noticed this functionality. I'm sure other apps do the same thing and feel free at post your own experiences
Long press on your homescreen (I'm using apex launcher, may be different for you) and choose "shortcut".

Then choose the "Reboot Short" shortcut. (Green circular icon)
Place the icon on your homescreen (or wherever you want).
Hit the green Reboot icon to get the following reboot options, all without Xposed

At the time of the post gravity box caused crashes in kitkat (adjusting vol in any app crashing the app was the most annoying).
But you're right, gb now a solution if running xposed, this a solution if you prefer not to

@appleknight Screenshot does my wallpaper no justice at all - it's a HD Live Wallpaper that uses gyroscope to produce an amazing 3d effect (I'll go get a store link) - prior to kitkat I had it on my lockscreen too via an xposed mod

(Wanted) option to hide apps in the stock launcher

Question for all you devs out there is there anyway to mod the stock launcher to be able to hide apps from the app draw like in go launcher ex? I love the stock Sony launcher but hate all those horrible app icons in the app draw especially the ones that run in the background and there's no need for them to be there, can anyone recommend a solution??? Much appreciation for any help

If you want to hide stock apps, disable them from the app settings screen.
Thanks for your reply K900, I tried that and it stopped the app from working completely, rather than just removing the icon whilst retaining the apps functionality, any other ideas??

That will be difficult to implement properly without having the source.
Use this app ccswe app manager.

You shuould try Apex laucher, give it a try
Disable
Just disable them in settings, apps, all,
Top left corner, disable.
The disabled app will not show up in the apps menu.
Not all apps can be disabled, but most of them.

Only the two of them gave a helpful answer. WITHOUT root, no CAN'T hide ICONS from the STOCK launcher. However, you can, WITH root, hide them, using the app recommended by victore88.

if you have rooted mobile freeze the app using TITANIUM BACKUP PRO so that icons gets disappeared from menu and defreeze it to get the icon back
I believe the OP is only looking to hide the icon, for example, Simple Text App when you purchase it you also get a second Simple Text Icon (purchased) . I believe its the second Icon that is not required to be visible. (I only used Simple Text as an example). OR like with Simple Text, I only use it once to create the icons but won't need to use it again for a long time. So again I don't need it taking up space..
To answer the OP. No, I don't have an answer apart from an other launcher - Go Launcher etc.
You can use Advanced Xperia Launcher.
It's closest to stock as possible and there are many options that Sony (for some reasons don't want to
to add).
I know this thread is old but many guys are trying to find a solution so - there it is...

Works well with stock Telus rom.... should be mentioned that in order to launch anything or add apps or widgets, you need to tap the upper left corner of the icon. I was tapping and trying to slide and accidently added an app to the home screen couldn't figure out how until I did a google search.... felt like a monkey trying to get the banana...... Only thing I have found that doesn't seem to work is the direct dial shortcut but I haven't played with it much.

Google Launcher

Anyone have success with the new google launcher dumped from kitkat. I tried it and really like it but can't get google now and search to work with it. Im just throwing it out there to see if anyone has success. The link is below. I am on an AT&T SGH-i527 rooted with locked bootloader (so no custom roms).

The KitKat camera?
This is a unofficial leak from nexus 5. You should only install the three apps stated in the article. The others are not stable on other phones.
Article qoute-
To install the new launcher (Google Home), you’ll have to install 3 different apps – Google Play Services 4.0, Google Search, and the Google Home .apk
The other apps may or may not work on your phone. I kept my stock camera.
Hope that helps.
I would delete camera spp and install mega stock camera. Just unzip attached file and place in system>app folder and reboot.

I installed a whole heap of KitKat and it was the camera that was the stumbling block.
I then had kernel issues so have shelved it for now.
I've both cameras the stock one and kitkat as well and the same for gallery..did install kitkat launcher it worked fine but i preffered the stock one so i uninstalled it.

Guess it's a matter of personal preference. I hate touchwiz. I like nova launcher but for some reason I really like google home and have been on it for a few days and will probably keep it.

I used to use an app called gmd autohide softkeys. You can set it up any way you want. You'll need to disable the stock navbar. I figured ide better get used to some stock stuff cause everytime I get a new phone I have to use multiple apps to get it the way I like. Center clock is one of those things I can't live without.
