I have an unbranded US C6806 purchased directly from the Sony Store Online, and I have unlocked the bootloader in the past, and relocked it.
But now, any attempt to unlock the bootloader is met with "FAILED: command did not succeed" (Whether initiated by fastboot.exe in the command line or Flashtool)
*#*#7378423#*#* ... still responds wih Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes
I am running a fully updated Windows 7 x64 laptop, and have tried.
Disabling UAC and the antivirus
Using MSconfig to reboot the computer with the minimum drivers
Safe Mode (Wouldn't get past <waiting for device>)
EDIT: Disabling DEP
The only thing that I can think of trying next is dusting off an old XP laptop and trying with that.
BTW fastboot getvar version comes back with 0.5 like it always has.

I bought the same one , and had no issue unlocking the bootloader, I too have windows 7 x64. No settings or any permissions changed. You might have missed a step somewhere in the process.
I haven't missed any steps, I've unlocked and relocked the bootloader multiple times before now.
Maybe is better that you post here a PrintScreen or the Log File of Flashtool when you try to unlock to see if anyone can help you with that..
I had exactly same problem and I give up unlocking bootloader.
I was unlocked once and have a back up TA partition. I relocked it and can't unlock after that. I tried on both Win7 and XP.
As I need is root on 4.3, I downgrade back to .532, root and upgrade to .290 and all are stable and smooth.
It is a pain to set up all the things back again as I used the system fonts that can't back up with normal backup procedures.
Haven't try unlocking again on current .290
Newer .136 and latest 4.4.2 not need to unlock bootloader to root as I know. Why you want to unlock?
I finally dusted off the XP machine and successfully unlocked the bootloader with that. I'm still not sure whether it was an update in Win 7 that interfered with USB communication or whether I had not installed all of the required drivers via Flashtool on the W7 box.
I have unlocked the bootloader in order to run a custom ROM to check on a problem with the stock ROMs.
When streaming audio from my phone to my car (A 2013 Ford Fusion with a Sony factory fitted stereo), the car and phone refuse to reconnect after the 1st trip. Only a reboot fixes this. I need to be in a different operating environment before I blame either the car or Sony's OS's.
Further on in the saga of the unlockable bootloader.
I cannot remember whether an AOSP ROM retained it's connection to my car or not, but the reduced functionality of Google Now was enough for me to return to a stock ROM and subsequently relocked my bootloader.
Well, the 681/757 locked bootloader root has an issue with the camera, I tried to re-unlock my bootloader, this time, it failed on both machines.
Something to note: When re-trying the command without re-booting the error message changed from FAILED (remote: Command did not succeed) to FAILED (remote: Device is already rooted)
How could this be? Fastboot responded with an error previously, which got me thinking, perhaps there was an issue with the TA restore using backup TA 9.10 which I used to relock the bootloader. So I dug* out my old copy of BU TA 9.9 with my 1st TA backup and restored my TA using that (which I most probably did the first time around also).
Voila! Bootloader unlock succeeded!
*My exact process was to downgrade to 532 using the pass through 257 method to retain my IMEI, rooting by installing the latest dualrecovery from [NUT] and letting TWRP flash Superuser before restoring my TA with both BU TA 9.10 and 9.9 in that order before trying the unlock code. It shouldn't matter which version of Sony Android OS that I'm on, but I had to be rooted to restore the TA partition, and 532 is the only route to root with a locked bootloader, and I didn't want to risk the chance of the IMEI being null in fastboot mode should the unlock code be a hash based off of the IMEI and the unlock itself compare the two to confirm validity.

OK, I'm in a bit of an unsure situation here.
My phone initially had 0.62 firmware and I downgraded to 0.58 because I thought I needed that to get root access, unlock the bootloader and install custom ROMS. However now I find out that I didn't have to do that, I think I read an old tutorial
I believe I have unlocked the bootloader already, but I'm not sure. The configuration status says that bootloader is able to be unlocked. I did the process earlier but it gave no confirmation messages. I am not going to try and upgrade to 0.62 because I do not want to brick the phone with an unlocked bootloader.
How can I check that my bootloader is in fact locked? Or can I still keep 0.58 and install a custom ROM?
My goal only really is to get root access, install a stable custom ROM and delete the irritating stock programs and other bull**** bundled with the phone. Any other bonuses like overclocking is extra but not really necessary.
U can check bootloader status in service menu.i dont knw code to enter in it.try search

No...that's not it, that only tells you if your phone is capable of having the bootloader unlocked. That doesn't say anything about whether it is or not.

Try to flash custom kernel.
If kernel is flashed and it boots it means you have unlocked bootloader if flashing fails you have locked bootloader.
Thanks for the response. I tried this now and it said it failed because it's already unlocked. OK, so I guess that's done.
I put in some custom Kernel, I think it was RAGE or something.
I wish to now put in a custom ROM.
Please help me understand which one to use. I want something that's stable and used by the majority. I only really want to be able to have root access and delete unnecessary programs, although any bonus features would be great.
I have downloaded HYBROM but as of yet still haven't tried installing it as I'm not sure how compatible it is. Any advice?
It does not matter now, I installed CyanogenMod, thanks for the responses.

Some little help so I don't need to create another topic.
I'm trying to unlock the bootloader of a LWW but it seems the PC doesn't identify the phone in fastboot properly.
The phone turns the blue light. I've tried to reinstall the flash/fast drivers already.
Any help?
Were those fastboot drivers installed properly the first time around? Are you sure they are installed?
I'm not too sure what you mean by the PC doesn't recognise it, if you have a flashing tool that should recognise it but the Windows OS may not necessarily recognise the phone connected in flash mode. I know when I first connected, nothing actually happened and I had to go into device manager and manual point to the required drivers, when that was done I was able to proceed.
Try using this tutorial:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRH3pC7MhEA
Doesn't matter if you've got fastboot.exe elsewhere in the computer, just download the given files and put them into a folder on the desktop, do exactly what he does and you should be able to get it up and running.
Open dialpad and enter *#*#service#*#*#
You have reached service menue. Choose service info and then configuration. Scroll down and look at the rooting status.
If there is bootloader unlocked: yes
then you have an unlocked bootloader, otherwise not.

Get the adb tool from here install and do the following:
1. Enable USB-Debugging on your phone. USB-Debugging is required for the commands “adb” and “fastboot” to work. To enable USB-Debugging, go to Settings >> About phone >> Software info and tap Build number 7 times. Return to the previous screen, select Developer options and enable USB-Debugging.
2. Open CommandPrompt or Terminal and enter the following ADB command to reboot into the bootloader:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
If ADB is not detecting your device try switching your phone's USB mode from Charging to MTP or PTP.
3. Type and see you you get info on the device:
Code:
fastboot oem device-info
4. Reboot device
Code:
fastboot reboot
I find this:
I would uninstall the root app and get the phone to warranty again. Did they cancel it?
I dont have that app. I delete app after instal. Same day

So you actually got your device repaired on warranty?
P.S. The command to check for bootloader status is fastboot getvar unlocked not fastboot oem device-info
No. He give me phone with problem that i left it. He connect my phone on lg server and there write that my phone is rooted. And my phone have locked bootloader and cant be rooted without unlock bootloader. He cant repair my phone under the waranty because my phone are triger like rooted.

Try to go to LG service if you went to your carrier service/third party seller and the other way around, if you went to LG service in the first place.
I contact other lg service that i have and they told me if the lg server triger phone like rooted that is rooted.
It may be possible that your phone got flagged as "rooted" when it was checked in the service because of that app you had installed. I suppose the verification software that they have and use checks for certain files that are known to be installed on rooted phones and flags the verified device as "rooted" even though it doesn't really have root capabilities. This is bad news.
To verify what i said you could go to a different LG service shop and see if your device is flagged as "rooted". Maybe you can try and convince someone over at the LG shop that you installed, for whatever reason that app (fool a buddy of yours that you have root on your phone etc.), and you have not obtained root capabilities because you have not unlocked bootloader which is mandatory for obtaining root. Maybe you can find a reasonable person that can remove the "rooted" flag and accept the display repair on warranty.
Found another user with this kind of problem here but it's a different variant of the phone (T-mobile H830)
Something bad is with LG
Hope i will get something from them. New phone without this or to fix mine. For me is same because my phone is like new one.
On monday i will contact them because i get phone numb. from lg and i will post what they told me.
[emoji120]
Good luck!
They send me that i leave phone in service and they will fix it under the waranty
???
Great news! I'm happy for you and i hope your get your device repaired as soon as possible Cheers!

.Pre-Requirements
ADB means Android Debug Bridge, and it is software that you should always do have installed on your PC.
Pre-Requisite 1
Make sure that you have the drivers for your phone installed on your PC.
If not, you can download and install them from here https://devsjournal.com/usb-drivers-for-all-android-devices.html
Pre-Requisite 2
You must also install: Minimal ADB & Fastboot, you can download the software
from here https://devsjournal.com/download-minimal-adb-fastboot-tool.html
Scrolling through the page you will have 2 options: Download or Portable
(choose the one that you prefer)
Pre-Requisite 3
Make sure you have enabled 'USB Debugging' and OEM Unlocking on your device (read all tutorial before do it, because it will be wiped all data from the phone)
Settings -> Advanced settings -> Developer Options

PAY ATTENTION: If you do not see the Developer Options menu you need to do this:
Settings -> Device Info -> tap 6 or 7 times on the 'ZUI version' entry
A pop-up should appear, telling you 'now you are a developer'
IMPORTANT NOTE: Before doing this, know that this operation completely reset your device and after rebooting, you will find the phone as if he had just left out of the box. So you'll need to configure your phone again and reinstall all apps.

I checked and the SN in Device Info matches the one I've used to generate the file on their site.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Does anyone know where I can find a decent guide to rooting the G8 Power Lite (if one exists - I know it's only been out a few months)?
I've had a Google around and looked on this forum and on reddit but I can't find anything. I haven't done any rooting or changing roms for years at this point (this is for work) so I'm a bit out of touch with the latest methods etc. In addition, it seems that there's very little info in general on this phone.
But the very first step I've tried is to go through the process of unlocking the bootloader (through the Motorola website). I got as far as trying to run "fastboot oem get_unlock_data", which didn't work (I get an error like "FAILED: (remote: unknown command)". I've installed adb, installed the Motorola device drivers, ticked the "allow bootloader unlocking" option in dev tools and enabled USB debugging so I'm not sure what's going wrong there. I can run stuff like "fastboot devices" or "fastboot getvar all" successfully so I think fastboot is working properly.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Hello
I got the same smartphone some weeks ago, but still there isn't some strong information about rooting, since most of developers are working on the Moto G8 Power/Moto G Power/Plus/Play, and those are similar in structure, something that doesn't work atm for the G8 Power Lite. I guess it's just a matter of time
I'm interested too
I just got a G8 power lite and I'm interested in how to root it.
did yo guys check out my post on how to root the g8 power?
i used this process, and i think it's a universal android 10 how to root ...

Thing is, G8 Power Lite is Android 9, and since there is not a official custom recovery to this smartphone, in my case, i prefer to wait if somebody that could check the phone comes with a good one

May need to update your fastboot executables. I ran into that same thing on another device and it was due to my not having the updated fastboot for windows stuff.
Hey, i know the thread is a bit older, but i have the same problem with the Moto G8 Power Lite, when i run (on linux) "sudo fastboot oem get_unlock_data" i get the error "FAILED: (remote: unknown command)"
Tried also "sudo fastboot oem unlock", but its the same.
But "fastboot devices" shows me the phone, so it seems to work.
On a windows PC,i tried it too, but i have some problems with the drivers i think. fastboot devices not even shows the phone in fastboot. I installed the drivers and the AndroidSDK linked in the official motorola guide.
I dont know if i am missing some packages or something. If someone can help me, would be great
We have been 10 for a bit now, you know... Anyone? I'm not scared to try, thing is i won't be anywhere near a reliable pc sooner than I'd like to have had root it.
I was able to unlock on my Power. But I cannot flash a custom recovery or rom to save my life. It's really irritating!

Follow this tutorial:
if that doesn't work open a cmd in the mtkclient folder and use:

Hi there! I need some help, I am trying to root my device and need a boot.img, but I cannot find a Rom for the x9 anywhere online.
This is my first time doing this, I got this phone just to mess around with rooting. But maybe I bought a bad phone for it.
If there are no Flash Roms online, what are the next steps? Can I use a Rom for the e9 which released alongside this phone? Sounds like it wouldnt work.. but IDK.
Looking for help from the experts ^^
Any help is appreciated.
Finally found one! Took over 2 hours to download a 2gb file O,O but it's finally done.
Now I am having problems getting into bootloader mode.
In developer mode with both OEM unlocking and USB debugging enabled.
Used the correct cmd prompt (adb reboot bootloader) but the phone just restarts.
I've tried restarting while holding the volume buttons.
VOL Down = Factory Test Mode, nothing works as expected there.
VOL UP = A boot menu letting me select from ~10 options, one of them is Boot to Bootloader. Selecting that simply boots normal, nothing special.
I have followed three guides:
How TO Root Vodafone Smart X9 Magisk without TWRP Recovery
If your Smart X9 is rooted using Magisk without TWRP Recovery. You can control a lot of features such as you can remove unwanted software.
www.getdroidpro.com
Vodafone Smart E9 Unlock Bootloader with Fastboot Method
How to unlock bootloader on your Vodafone with Fastboot Method. You can install custom ROM, custom recovery, kernel, flash all data
www.mobilewithdrivers.com
All seem logical enough, many similarities between them. I just cannot get into fastboot mode.
I've seen LOADS of threads with this same problem on this forum. And none of them have any solutions. So I think this is the end of the road. If nobody has figured it out .. then I am just out of luck I guess?

PC is fully up to date on Windows 10.
I've got the lastest up-to-date version of platform-tools.
I'm using USB2.0 with the correct wires.
The phone is in developer mode with USB Debugging and OEM unlocking enabled.
I'm using the correct command lines. adb devices & adb reboot bootloader work as expected.
But none of these will work: fastboot devices, fastboot flashing unlock, fastboot oem unlock.
I just get < waiting for any device >
Can anyone help figure this out? I must be doing sooomething wrong. Everything online says its a driver issue, but then again, all the guides on how to fix that driver issue have been followed and completed. The first bullet with the image should also sort of verify that.
Praying some wizard out there has the knowledge I need to get this working! ^^
