Hey there,
as the title says: I have here this nice Xperia Tablet Z and a rooted (CM 10.2) Samsung Galaxy S2. I activate Bluetooth on both devices and tell my Galaxy S2 to share the internet connection by activating the Bluetooth-Tethering in the settings. Next step is, that I go to the Xperia Bluetooth-Settings for this particular Bluetooth-Pairing and activate "use Bluetooth for internet access".
So far, so easy. The point is: It is not working. The Xperia is not using the UMTS-Connection of my Samsung. Somewhere in the www I read about the fact, that you only can use a Sony Smartphone and this special Sony-App for sharing the internet connection between two devices.
Thats annoying. So, does anyone know, if there is a way to use my None-Sony-Smartphone to access the internet from my Xperia Tablet Z? Or do i need to root my Tablet and install a custom ROM / firmware?
Thanks a lot in advance!
cheers
easy tether worked for me
I have an s4 paired with xperia z tablet 311 and easy tether worked almost straight away. Hope it helps.

Hi,
Can anyone give me some idea how can I turn my X10 mini into a wifi hotspot? I found many people are asking similar question but I did not notice any good answer. So this is possible or not?
Use Barnacle: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740698
search for it in the market
you could found that information in the wiki or with some searching in this post in the x10 mini/pro General Forum
I use Barnacle Wifi Tether as Cyberwuulf already said.
It supports WEP encryption on my x10 mini pro, and works perfectly every time, super fast - And ive sent in a few good ideas to the dev which he promised to implement in the future.
It works with my X10 Mini with PC connection, but fails to get connected by Xperia X8, and I'm still working out with other phones tomorrow... Please note that my X10 Mini is running 2.1, rooted.

And I got it works with my X8 too, before I read the following Ad-hoc mode only:
Can you make Barnacle use infrastructure mode instead of ad-hoc?
If one could make an Android phone look like a real access point (rather than an ad-hoc network), then it would improve compatibility and allow better security. Unfortunately, to make a wifi client behave like an access point requires fundamental changes in the device driver. The hardware vendors of the wireless interfaces present in most Android devices did not include such capability.
What one can do, however, is use Connectify to make their laptop running Windows 7 appear as a real access point. In combination with Barnacle it should be possible to connect many restricted devices (PS3, DSi, etc.) to the Internet.

and my damn old Palm TX and a notebook running Vista surf the Internet with both Android phones with Barnacle, and it's a freeware ;-)

Hi,there.
As title, the hotspot on my mini pro doesn't work though the changelog said it was fixed.
The problem is that my laptop and my neoV could connect it,but both were unable to access the Internet.
I even tested it on CM7/CM9 and the hotspot worked well.
I did search here and FXP website, however,I don't see any solutions.
Does anyone experience the same issue?
Thanks in advance.
No reply means that I'm the only one suffering this issue?:crying:
BTW,this problem still exists even when I'm using FXP206 CM10.

I always use the kernel inside FXP's zip file.
So,may I ask which phone you are using? And the device connecting your phone could access the Internet?
Since my hotspot works fine when I use other roms like CM7/CM9 and stock.
Solved.I think I found the root cause.
My phone's hotspot function is limited because I am required to access the Internet via a specific proxy provided by our carrier.
Therefore I need to set additional settings on my laptop and neoV while connecting my phone. And now, yes, they both work well.
My apologies for my stupid question.
Hmm...the weird thing is that I don't need the additional settings when using other roms.

when I turn hotspot on, it disable the wifi
Hi!
I use CM 9 on sony live walkman. Default kernel.
I do not use proxy, but when I active the hotspot, my cell phone disable the wifi.
So, when hotspot is turned on, I can connect with my notebook... but (of course) can't access the internet...
And If I turn on (again) the wifi, it automaticaly disable the hotspot...
Does anyone knows how to solve that?
Thanks a lot!
Hi people,
I recently upgraded my SXP from rooted ICS 6.1.1.B.1.75 to Pre-rooted JB 6.2.A.0.400 ( found thanks to this thread ).
Everything went well, and the new version seemed to work, until i realized that the Wifi Hotspot function isn't working anymore (i used it everyday on ICS).
Also, tethering via Bluetooth doesn't seem to work.
My SXP wifi network is seen and I can connect onto it, but then nothing happens and there's no way to use the phone's data connection from a remote device.
I installed the 'WiFi Tether' app from Google play to give it a try, and the same thing happens.
However, this app gives me more detail and i can see what steps precisely block the connection, here is a screen of the error log : http://i.imgur.com/5ZhAAoF.png
Hopefully this'll help.
Has anyone run into the same issue? Can anyone confirm that the Portable Hotspot function still works on JB for Xperia P ?
It'd be kind of a shame to have to roll-back to ICS because of this....
Many thanks in advance for your help!

I've recently rooted my xperia play and found my wi-fi hotspot doesn't work. I've downloaded wi-fi tether apps but it doesn't seem to be connecting to the internet, it reads my connection but no access to internet.
Has anyone found a solution to this?
Thanks in advance
Hello.
Well, this is it.
Not much to say. I connect my Xperia Tablet Z (SGP311) to my Galaxy S5 Wifi Zone, the Wifi connection is made, the S5 has internet access (I can navigate, open Play Store, etc.), but my Tablet has no internet access. It happened in firmware 4.3, I updated to 4.4.2 but didn't help.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks and greetings from Uruguay!
Hi there, I read a bunch of topics over the net on tethering on Android 4.4, but none of those fixes work for me.
I'm on a C6833, stock and rooted, but that's not the point, because I use that as my principal phone: what I use as tethering modem is my Xperia E1, which worked fine on 4.3, but now refuses to work on 4.4.
I know, I could root it and be done with it, but is it the real solution?
Every time I start the hotspot, the Ultra connects to it, but Chrome results always in the same error: DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET.
Does anyone know how to make it work like it used to?
