convert my i545 to a i337m - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Well I got a i337m motherboard on ebay for 20 dollars.
I wanted it since the bootloader is unlocked it has a bad esn in canada but not here in the us.
I put it in my phone and everything fits except.
1. The cable that runs down the left side of the phone I think its wifi, the i337m dont have that.
2. The flat ribbon cable that runs from the bottom of the phone to the motherboard, the i545 cable is longer than the i337m cable.
I wonder if they run the wifi cable in the flex cable?
Anyway the board does work and twrp installed its running stock rooted 4.3

[Q] Factory charger

Hey, recently while at a friends house my factory charger got chewed up by his dog. In a rush I purchased a blackberry branded charger, with a universal adapter and bought the micro USB add on. It charges fine, but will not recognize the phone when connected to my computer. Should I attempt to buy a higher quality 1 piece cord or do i require the factory cable to transfer data? I would just purchase the factory one but I would have to order it online and thats a bit of a hassle for me.
Thanks
edit:You can delete this, My friend lent my a 1 piece cord and it works like a charm. Thanks.

[Q] i9100m (Bell Canada) OTG not working??

Anyone having any issues with OTG on the Bell Canada Galaxy S II (i9100m) ??
When I plug in the cable, I've now tried two of them, nothing happens.
I know 2.3.4 has full support, but the 2.3.3 on the GS2 is supposed to be able to do it.
Since a copy of our factory ROM still hasn't come out, I've been holding off going too crazy on it, so I'm stock except for being rooted and unlocked
Using CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG2-v4.1-CWM4
Anyone?
I picked up the nokia cable off ebay for 4$ the cable is made for nokia and had a different usb micro end with a quick google and after shaving the sides down to fit it works perfect and its as fast as reading off internal using a 8gb sancruz and a crappy 1gb no name. although I couldnt get it to read if I already had the cable in and then the usb stick I had to have the stick plugged into the cable then into the phone.
I've tried two different cables from eBay, not a Nokia one however, but I'm skeptical that these aren't OTG cables, i'm pretty sure they are
hopefully someone else has tried it
fyi, I ended up picking up the official Samsung OTG cable from bell, and it works fine.

Anyone have any idea where to get the SE OEM USB cable?
Ebay?

Do you have the model number?
I'll check when I get back home.

I'm curious as well. I thought that something was wrong with my phones USB port as I have to wiggle it around before it connects (very loose connection). tried plugging my phone in with other cables (blackberry and arc) and it stayed connected fine. Friend of mine plugged her phone in using my cable and it did the same thing as it does with mine. It's reassuring to know it's not the phone as that would be expensive to fix, the cable on the other hand is cheaper If you find one let me know.
Sorry, I seem to have lost the little tag on the USB cable that shows the model number.
Hi,
I have "datacable by OTB" which also charges my nokia for a few bugs from EBay. Every cable with mini- (micro-?) usb should do.
Ralf
Asked my friend, Model Number is EC600L
Ye any micro USB cable will work.
Some people prefer OEM
It's a feature! micro USB was intentionally designed so that the cable will wear out rather than the jack.
On another thread it was suggested that biting on the end of the cable tightens the cable allowing it to connect. I seem to have revitalized my old original cable though I substituted a pair of needle nose pliers for my teeth.

If you really want a model number I recently bought an OEM cable for a spare for work etc its labelled CA-101
As above though its a standard micro usb cable ...
(used this cable recently to flash and then reflash my x10i after killing my phone with various patching and the cable works great lol!)
Note I also use a Nokia mains charger for my spare work charger as that's all the guy had on his stall and it works just fine
I have the Nokia CA-101. ill check the OEM one when I get home. but I like the Nokia OEM one. it's longer :3

I am using an BB micro-USB cable as my alternative cable which cost me MYR10 around 3USD. Bought from a local Computer shop. Mobile phone shop sell at higher price.
Notice that the stock cable charge my phone bat. will reach @ 40'c while the BB micro-USB cable will above 40'c. Maybe due to the stock cable having 'resistor' locate near the both end of the cable meanwhile the BB micro-USB cable don't have.

[Q] Is it important to use the stock USB cable when flashing?

Both my wife's and my stock USB cables have basically disintegrated over the last year and neither work so I had to purchase a new cable from Target a few months back. The Gingerbread OTA has borked my GPS and other things, and I want to try re-flashing it through Heimdall. How big of a problem is it that I don't have the stock cable?
Thanks in advance.
Normally the stock usb cable works best but you may get lucky and odin will work with the target cable...just try it and see. Also i would odin the stock eh03 rom and stay away from ota. Alot of folks are reporting the same issue with ota to gingerbread.
Got it! Will try the Target cable, but I do have a stock cable on order, just in case.
Thanks!
I have been using a cable that I bought at Wally World... It is very hit and miss with the connection. Sometimes I can get Odin to work other times I can't. I usualy wiggle the cable some until I get Odin to recognize it! - Good luck

I use the cable that came with my barnes & noble nook. It works just fine.
~This is going to take crackerjack timing, Wang~
My stock cable got damaged and I bought a replacement from BestBuy. It worked for charging and my pc would recognize it as an external storage device, but Odin would not, no matter what I did. Went to Verizon and ordered a replacement stock cable from Samsung and all is well with the world!
There is something about non-OEM cables that this phone doesn't like. When I bought the phone, I got some E-bay chargers and cables (for truck, car, motorcycle, desk at work, etc). They worked but were not necessarily OEM for this phone. Then I started having trouble with the mini-usb port (Odin issues first, then progressing to no usb connection at all). Eventually had to have the port replaced. I have used nothing but OEM cables and chargers since then without issue. Shouldn't be that way but it was. YMMV.
My phone was used so I didn't get a cable but I found a moto cable at work I use for most things. And seems fine However I used my wife's stratosphere cable to flash back to stock with samsungpst before loading the ota.

how to find out if usb port is defect?

Hi guys,
I've just received a - what looks pretty brand-new - S2 here naked and without its back cover. It's branded.
I also own a rooted i9001 (S plus) with themes and stuff. Still works like a charm.
So the S2.... I am pretty sure I can use same usb cable from the S plus and also the charger (Samsung Travel adapter 5.0V=0,7A) that both are working fine with the S plus.
However, usb with the S2 PC isn't recognizing phone, no matter what I tried. Only connection possible is via Kies (only wifi) and not explorer
The charger isn't recognized by phone either. I'm not sure if the USB port is dead because JIG tool is working. The battery I have is some Chinese one with own charger. The I read the S2 needs more power.
Suggestions anyone?
Thanks.

But does it charge when connected to PC by USB?

What do you mean? The phone charges but with charge rates limited by PC USB port instead of AC wall plug? Or doesn't it charge at all with the charger?
Or: how do you mange to charge the phone?

Hi, thanks for looking into my prob.
No, it doesn't charge when connected to PC via USB. The charger doesn't work with phone directly, no.
I bought the replacement battery off ebay and with it came a battery charger (wall plug). So battery can be charged aside from phone.
Unfortunately, I don't have any friends with original S2 accessories to test.
But why does the Jig work (if the USB port were broke)?

The Jig does not use all pins of the USB connector. Basically the Jig is a 300k resistor connected to the GND (5) and ID(4) pin of the USB connector. The pins used for charging are GND(5) and VCC(1). A bold guess would be that the VCC pin of your phones USB connector does not work.
You should consider buying a replacement flex board on ebay. It is very cheap ($10 to $16 I believe) and you should manage to install it yourself.

There could be Two Reasons Your Device's Micro USB Port is Broken Something.
OR
Drivers are Corrupted. I recommend you to Connect Cable and Check if Kies Respond. If it Respond but Still don't Connect then Click on Troubleshooting. It must Work.
Hope i helped

Nope. Kies doesn't respond.
fxrb, thanks a bunch for the explanation!
I got the flex board off ebay already. There's a nice guide on youtube.
Ah, ok - you were quicker.

fxrb, thanks a bunch for the explanation! I will look into this flex board alternative. Is there anywhere further information? I got the phone pretty cheap so I'm willing to give it a try.

Further information about what exactly?
If you are looking for information about how to replace the flex print then youtube is your friend
Just to let you know. I got new usb board, exchanged old one (that was clearly water damaged) and the phone now works like a charm.
OT: I've also noticed this trend on Ebay for people to buy non-functioning or damaged S2s. From the guides on youtube I can see exactly why.
However, it's getting pretty ridiculous now that non-functioning S2s with broken screens fetch as much as € 200??!!! I mean, come on!

Still OT: I had the silly idea of buying a totally damaged S2 on ebay for a few Euros, just to extract the battery contacts for a test adapter: no way! The device got sold for € 156
