I have a question, can anybody please help me! which one eats less battery? Xperia Z Ultra stock ROM or Cyanogenmod Togari stable? Xperia z ultra is such a nice big phone but the only problem is its battery backup!
It uses the same amount of battery when used..but in deep sleep stock rom or sony based is just a tiny bit more easy on the battery.
The only thing I have problem with is the camera. Sometimes it can be a bit jerky...saying "can not connect to camera" and then I need to reboot

I want to know from those that already updated their Xperia Active phones to stock ICS, how is it?
How does it feel?
Is it more snappy?
Are there any bugs/problems that weren't on stock GB or are fixed with ICS.
How is the battery life compared to stock GB?
This thread is a refference to all Xperia Active users that want to delay their upgrade due to bugs.
Thank you!

All Xperia device have their own advantage Active is for active people that like to use their phone during sport or something like that (eg. Exercise),Mini Pro is for people that want a mini phone with easy to chat, mini is for people that have small hand and Live With Walkman is for people that like a 'bombastic' sound
So,in other words : All xperia user received same bug,and currently waiting for an update for a fix...
Bug : No LED when received message during sleep mode
Battery life : Somehow draining when using Music Player, playing game,WiFi,Data Usage...

Well im wondering wich of all the roms that are in Xperia U Development forum is the best, smoother or faster and also wich one of them can be used in a device with Locked Bootloader. I read in a thread something about a patch to convert roms for UB to be used in LB too. So if you can recomend me wich one you think is the best rom or the one you like more. Thanks
You can apply a patch developed by atis112 (I think that's the user name) for ICS AOSP based roms like CM9, AOKP, MIUI, XNovathor (last one is totally AOSP) to work on locked bootloaders..
ICS AOSP based roms leave more free RAM for user than Sony's ICS, but have a weird issue that turns Wi-Fi off and makes phone wake up slower when screen off AND battery not charging.. When battery is charging, Wi-Fi works correctly when screen off and turning screen on is as quick as expected..
Led bar doesn't work.. It can be fixed, but leds will turn on with every screen touch..
Low speaker volume.. Can be fixed with Viper4android..
If you don't use Wi-Fi, I recommend SlimCM (link to patch in rom's thread)
Sony's ICS based roms leave less free RAM, but you have more integrated features, like DLNA, social integration, correctly working led bar, BRAVIA engine, xLOUD and no weird AOSP issues.. Many Sony based roms's UI are almost identical to Xperia Z!
I recommend VeXU (Venezuela Xperia U Mod).. This rom is customizable during installation!
On both AOSP and Sony based ICS roms, battery life sucks, overheat, camera takes a lot of time to focus, and have some lags on heavy gaming.. Personally I don't recommend using ICS unless you really need it
There is no AOSP based 2.3.7 roms.. Some developers tried to port CM7, but they couldn't do it even with custom kernels made by them to fit the rom..
Gingerbread roms have very nice battery life, leave a lot of RAM for user (around 200MB or more), have all Sony's features (the same ones included in Sony's ICS roms) and are more responsive..
They are less smooth, but they are faster and open aplications quicker than any ICS rom!
I've been using GingerBeanSS with my AOSP theme on it for about 3 months and I'm very happy with it!
No JellyBean (or higher) roms on locked bootloader..

My Xperia U isn't SIM unlocked, so I can't try that.. But maybe you can!
So,the Xperia Sola has the same cpu+gpu with Xperia P but Sola has lower resolution than Xperia P so theoretically the Xperia Sola is better in terms of gpu power, right? No,this video shows that Xperia P runs Nova 3 much better than Xperia Sola.I must tell that I don't have the Sola yet so I haven't tested anything,I have just seen videos in YouTube. Please tell me why this happens?
P.S.Can I take photosphere photos with CM10 or newer?
More RAM..
Xperia P gaming performance is not bad with a custom rom inside it's almost fly but with stock it still better Xperia Sola also not bad but it doesn't have many ram compare to XP make your own choice, but if you're looking for buying both devices, I suggest you go with another newer one
But so why Xperia Go plays the same game much better?Only because resolution?
@SakisProHD
Because it has an insanely low resolution which means that the gpu has to process much fewer pixels than Xperia P.
Photosphere can also be installed on 4.1.2 (I use it) but it needs a device that has a gyroscope
And Xperia P has much better performance in riptide gp2 than Xperia u

In all cases and simple way...
Xperia P just beats Xperia U, Go and Sola in gaming !!
That is my opinion !

Both phones are different and both phones can be used for gaming as well, got working on my Sola Despicable Me, Dead Trigger, Subway Surfers, and many other games, depending on the ROM installed can lag.
Just flash a good ROM for it, set governors and you're good to go.
Hi,
Sorry for being noob here, kindly suggest the best custom ROM for z ultra, based on functionality and battery savings.

No such thing as best ROM.
As someone who always flashes id go with RR final LP build
I have the same question -- I am not asking for battery savings but for underclocking. My xperia ultra has already had the screen crack once (out of nowhere...during a night of charging) due to overheating, so I want to make sure that this time I have a ROM which either comes with underclocking/undervolting standard, or offers it. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Hi,

Hi guys. I am using Z Ultra for 5 years and i want to install custom rom. Yes i know that there is so much roms and most of them are old but i want to use something stable and i want the phone to be a little more snappy because sometimes is a bit sluggish. Good battery life is a must too. I am using mainly Chrome, FB messenger lite, Gmail and a couple of games (Titan Uprising and Asphalt 9). My phone battery life is somewhere around 5 to 6 hours of screen time (sometimes 7 hours if im more carefull). So i did a little research and i have selected those custom roms:
1. HybridRom Concept EditioN - stock based rom and i can use Sony goddies. Also support UB and LB but i think UB + custom kernel is the best option.
2. LineageOS 12.1 - current security patches. How is battery life?
3. ResurrectionRemix 5.8.3 - possible problem with touch but i can use the fix.
4. RXSW Z5 Experience [v14.00]
5. Nimadroid Rom
6. Other suggestions?
I need stable rom with minimal bugs because i am using my phone a lot.
Thanks in advance!
Ive used nimadroid rom, he is my frined actually, its very good, fast and no lag, but battery is a littel drain than stock

Thank you for tips, do you know if screen mirror and hdmi over usb works reliably in nimandroid and not by occassion as in sony rom ?
Me too - I need a new update for my Sony ultra z. But I worry I'm not able to use banks app with custom rom as some banking apps and e wallet apps are really picky once it knows the phone has been rooted.
My gps navigation is very sluggish to start too - every time I go to a new place I had to stop on the roadside as gps signal either lost or not connected.
Count me in as well. I've got two kids and we give our old phones to our kids after updating them You are not alone
I've tried https://www.getdroidtips.com/custom-rom-sony-xperia-z-ultra/ Android 9 Pie, but i don't seem to get touch working
I seem to need a different kernel to get this to work. Anybody got Android 9 Pie working with touch working? Any tips to share? Thanks in advance
