Broken screen ZU - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Are there any write ups - DIY on how to replace the lcd/digitizer for the z ultra? I've been searching but have only found diy on the z1. I popped the back cover open and its different compare the the Z1.
The LCD/Digitzier replacement i was able to find cost around $170usd.
Anyone have experiences with repair shops?
Thank you,

Xperia Go Replace USB cover and Back panel

HIi,
It would be great if someone could guide me as to how I can replace the USB flap and battery cover on my Xperia GO , I took it the service center and was told I would have to pick up a new phone with a 20% discount on the new one.. its just the USB cover that got cut.. feel totally ripped off with this purchase ... is it possible for me to do some kind of DYI stuff and replace these parts?
Would also appreciate references to aftermarket service centers to get this fixed in Bangalore,India
Although I don't own a Xperia Go, but I found a few sites that sell replacement parts for the covers.

You can try to order from them and assemble them yourself. Based on the design, it should be a simple push in. If you can't do it, bringing it down to a simple handphone repair shop with the parts and they should be able to do it for you (maybe with a bit of money). Should be too expensive.

I have this exact same issue. The flap has been pulled off the tether, leaving a small part hanging out the phone. I posted on another andriod forum about this and a Sony Tech member made a point that part is easily fixable but if the back cover of the phone is removed there may be issues with water? There's also a special tool to replace the back panel. I'm guessing equal light pressure and even tightening of the screws is all that's required, as well as taking care not to damage the O ring seal. Search for 'Sony Xperia go ST27 Service Manuals.zip' and you should find a link to download the service manuals for the phone if you like. It has PDF videos for a full teardown of the device.
I'm confident that the part can be replaced without taking the rear cover off. I pulled out the broken part of the tether with some needle nose pliers. I made sure the pliers were gripping the plastic and then gave a quick sharp pull and the tether came out. I had initially tried just pulling the broken tether slowly but the plastic stretched, and in hindsight it could have snapped and made things more difficult to remove/maybe? The new cover should be a matter of pushing the tether back into the small hole with some good tweezers/pliers.
Thanks for all your inputs.. Would be great if you could link to the service manual..

[Q] Replacing the Xperia Tablet Zs screen - adhesive?

So I've taken the old cracked LCD off my Tablet Z and am about to order a new replacement.
Question is - anyone know what is used to stick the back cover back on and what is the best adhesive for sticking the LCD/Touch screen unit back in (3M double sided tape?). The cover was attached using some form of spongy foam tape - where can I get this from? Is this a sealant for the waterproofing aspect of the Xperia Tablet Z?

as far as understand if you open the case once, your device is no longer waterproof even if you use adhesive/sealant.
I think your right, I seem to remember there is mention of some form of pressure test point in the tear down. In any case I won't be risking it near water. But generally does anyone know what the best adhesive to use is. Original stuff seems to be very strong but soft and tacky, unlike the superglue type which I will be avoiding.
Gasket
Hey Guys,
I have to fix my screen and want to do it properly (read: OEM) so that it is again watertight. I have found the proper gaskets on ebay from the user original_parts_mobile_99, but they are so damn expensive. Anyone else know where these can be purchased from (at a reasonable price)? It seems everyone is selling the gaskets for the Xperia Z phones, but not the tablet

i think it's impossible to make tablet watertight again outside the factory. Even official service centers, while repairing device not always make it watertight again.

Replace screen

Hi.
I'm new in this forum.
I have a question for you.
I broke my z ultra screen 2 days ago and now i want to replace it ( possibly by myself cause high price ) but i haven't find anything on the internet.

a month ago i broke my xperia z ultra digitizer while i kept it in my backpocket. the lcd is working perfectly. but due t technical reasons u'll hav to replace the complete lcd+digitizer, u cant rip off oly the digitizer.its kind of nxt to impossible. the replacement of the screen is not tht easy as it is shown in different videos available on youtube. moreover u need to buy adhesive tape for the frames to refix the glass panels after u rip them off with blower.i would suggest get it replaced by some good technician. i got mine replaced $170 from local technician. the sony service centre asked me for $400

Mine was repaired by Sony Center for 170 euros.
It came back with front and rear panel changed and the little cover for USB connector repaired.
It's brand new.
But it's still locked to my operator

I suggest you buy locally from any parts shop in your country.
Because if u order online, quality may different.. u will not get what u see.. sometimes u get dead pixels or totally dead displays.
i ordered online and had this problem .
recently i changed my shattered display..
buy from a local store..
witrigs(dot)com
To End this thread:
I gonna buy a LCD replacement from Witrigs...
they Sell original replacements for a good price..
I have to pay
50$ for the LCD
5$ for the stickers for front + back
25$ for fast DHL shipping (4-7 days) (you can safe 20$ but then you have to wait 20-40 days)
I second witrigs. Their "how to" was quite helpful as well. I ended up breaking the main cable and needed to tear it apart again, broke the stupid screen again doing so, and got a cheap one on ebay. It works...

Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet Screen & Digitizer Replacement

Hi everyone,
I was replacing the battery and cracked screen on my tablet. I ordered a battery which was successfully installed. I also ordered a screen/digitizer combo found here on ebay:
LCD Touch Screen Digitizer For Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 SGP511 SGP512 SGP521 SGP541
Condition was noted as follows:
Condition:
New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging (where packaging is applicable). Packaging should be the same as what is found in a retail store, unless the item is handmade or was packaged by the manufacturer in non-retail packaging, such as an unprinted box or plastic bag. See the seller's listing for full details.

It arrived (photos attached) and was quite clearly used. On plugging it in, the screen works, but the touch does not. Closer inspection revealed the flex cable from the digitizer to the screen was not connected. Even after carefully connecting it, the touch is still unresponsive.
Does anyone have any advice on what I can try to get it working? I really do not want to wait another month for a replacement, nor to have to re-purchase and wait again, and was hoping someone might have ideas as to what to try.
Thanks!
