[Q] Second User: No location with wifi - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear fellow tablet z users,
since one of the last updates, any other user than the owner/first user isn't able to get location in google maps (or any other app) with wifi and without gps.
Of course all location services are enabled, of course google apps are allowed to use location.
Does anyone experiecend the same issue? Can someone maybe check this with his tablet?
Best regards

[Q] NavFree USA - Best GPS/Navigation application for OFFLINE mode?

I have been searching for gps/navigation applications that support offline usage, aka installing maps on the device where no internet is required for the application to work..
I found NavFree USA, which apparently supports offline mode.
Is this a good GPS application?
If you have any other you think is good/better, please list them. Paid applications or not. NavFree USA does not require a payment to install; it is free.
Please comment the GPS/navigation applications you have had experiences with.
Thank you,

Never tried NavFree, but you could take a look at this, too:

It has a pretty good rating
I have tried NavFree for many months now, and I find it to be very good
I can highly recommend it to anyone who wants a offline GPS Navigation system.
Thanks, I'm on holiday now in the USA and this is going to very very handy, thought Google navigation would work with the maps cached but unfortunately not, still need a data connection for that.
Going to test Navfree today, hopefully won't get lost anymore!

Limiting Andriod

Hello Everyone,
The company I work for is currently in the process of buying a set of the Motorola Admiral PTT (Push to Talk) phones from sprint for our employees. However we don't want them using the phones for personal use. So is there a way to block them from accessing the market (play store) or to block the installation of apps. Essentially, does android have any administrative features like what I just suggested.
Also, is there a way to block the internet browser. We don't want to turn off the internet but to prevent them from browsing the internet on the phone but still have access to other internet using apps like google maps or the gps navigation.
Thanks for any help,
Mike

[Q] Location Reporting and Fit

Hi,
I am using a Moto360 with my Xperia Z2 in Macau China. I have a UK Google play store account and have turned on Google Now cards.
What I can't seem to figure out is how to spoof "Location based reporting"? When I try to turn it on, I get the message that Location based reporting is not available in my region: Macau.
I want to use Google Fit with the Moto360, but it won't happen unless somebody has some advice. Google Now is not officially supported in Macau either, but that was easy to fake. Do I need to do the same process? I don't want to lose my Google Now access!
Any advice gratefully received.

google location services alternatives

Hi everybody
I've just bought a new phone, Samsung galaxy xcover3,which I really like. I come from a rooted and quite modded ascend p6. I've a question regarding probably all android devices, especially the devices running kitkat.
Is there a way, WITHOUT ROOTING, to exclude google location services, using alternative services for network and wifi positioning?
I really don't like google's "big brother like" terms and conditions. I don't want to be forced to contribute to Google's wifi and cells mapping if I want to use a feature (wifi positioning) which I paid for and bought.
I'd like to choose what service to use (Mozilla location, or maybe the osm project), without rooting my device (there's also the warranty problem, but that's another story). I'm also getting frustrated with that popup saying "help google improve location services": I can flag "don't show this again" only if I agree, that's crazy.
What's your opinion about this, guys???

[APP] please recommend substitution of app: network log

Hey guys, I've been seeking an alternate of Network Log (you can find it on Google Play Store) for quite a while but with no luck, so come out to ask if anyone knows one suitable for me .
I have to say Network Log is almost worthy for purchasing (although it is not a paid app), considering the job it's done in categorizing by protocols, by apps, displaying packets by size and time, graphing as a timeline, and that made it an excellent choice for analyzing apps consuming data and draining battery, but unfortunately the app owner doesn't respond to bug summit or emails.
The thing is, Network Log no longer works after Android 6.0, while others in the market relies on system-built-in VPN function to capture data, which is not suitbale for people like me in China using proxies to reach out to world .
So if anyone knows apps that can capture packets (not necessarily able to decrypt contents) and display by apps, just to make it easy to let me see the amounts and frequency Android apps uses the Internet, I‘ll be thankful that you recommend them to me (again it cannot be using Android VPN function since Shadowsocks is already using VPN, so I think the app maybe require root permission but I'm OK)
check...
will somebody know that???
