How to stop phone from going to 2G while on WiFi? - AT&T LG Optimus G

I'm running beanstalk and I have the "switch to 2G while on WiFi" unchecked. But it's still switches everytime and sometimes it won't connect to T-Mobile as a result.

That sounds like a Rom specific issue, as I've never even seen that option before in any ROM I've used.

Well I'm a moron. I need to pay more attention to what settings I enable in various apps! :-\
After factory resetting my phone, and restoring everything but the system data, it was still doing it. So I had the brilliant idea to check the apps I use that toggle Wi-Fi. I had set Smart Wi-Fi Toggler to change my network mode when on Wi-Fi. So I wasted a lot of time because I forgot I had enabled the setting.
Thanks for replying.

Oh ok, sorry then, I'm not familiar with that company or if they have special settings like that or where they would be. Doesn't really make sense that it jumps back and forth between data and wifi though without something similar. Why not just turn off wifi when not using it for a temp fix? If you are rooted, you could use Tasker and Secure Settings to just turn wifi on for the locations you want.

[Q] Disable automatic attwifi connection

I've tried searching, but couldn't find anything (but I assume it exist somewhere). One of my biggest pet peeve about AT&T is how they code the phone to automatically connect to any AT&T wifi hotspot no matter what. This has caused me issues, especially when sitting at a light or driving pass a McDonald's, etc. Is there a mod to correct this? I don't want to disable complete automatic connection (i.e., home/work connection), but this auto-connect to AT&T irks me to no end.
it should be under wifi settings.
click on settings, wifi, then click the three dots on the top left of the phone, then advanced.
Assume you are stock (booloader locked, not rooted, etc.). If there is no option to "forget" the network; than you might be able to disable the associated process. Otherwise, you may be locked out from disabling this without root (which has often been the case on past devices).

So there is a option in settings to disable auto connect only for AT&T hotspots?
Can't personally check, as I was on the stock ROM for about 1 day.
Yeah I had the same thing happen to me, that's how I knew where to find it.

Good to know. AT&T must have added it for this device, after getting complaints like the OP on previous devices! I know its been a problem on other devices; as I've experienced the same where the AT&T hotspot is close enough to connect, but too weak to actually transfer any data.

[Q] Wifi Calling Keeps Showing Up In Quick Settings

Normally I only have 5 Quick Settings icons enabled (Quick Memo, Wifi, Sound Profile, Data, and Bluetooth), however every time I reboot my phone, the Wifi Calling icon re-enables itself and pushes itself in between the Data and Bluetooth toggles, pushing Bluetooth off of the screen. I realize that it's easy to just go back into the 'Quick Settings' settings and un-tick Wifi Calling again, but it gets really annoying when I reboot multiple times a day. Does anyone know of a more permanent solution besides just un-ticking the box every time I reboot? If it helps, I am using the Gold edition G3 from Sprint (obviously) and I'm rooted. This 'problem' has been going on since I got the phone.
I have the exact same issue, but I have my WiFi Calling quick setting button enabled. Normally I have Bluetooth in the fifth and right most spot, but WiFi Calling always forces it's way back to that spot upon a reboot, pushing BT to the next page.
In the Edit menu, they show correctly but they are actually flipped, so I just move one of them then move it right back.
Not a huge problem, it's just a weird little glitch I've never seen before on any other device.
I was just about to post about the same situation (wifi callling always showing in quick settings).
Is there a fix to this. It is getting annoying because I never use wifi calling yet it always shows up in quick settings even though I always uncheck it the quick settings options

I doubt there is a fix for it yet. I can't even reorder the icons, without it changing them back to original order.

Im having the same issue, before and after root. Anyone heard of it happening on other carriers or is it just sprint?
We should all contact Sprint and let them know. Maybe it will be fixed with an update.
This is very annoying...
I too have this same issue

5.1 update keep disabling mobile data

Hi fokls,
I recently updated to 5.1 ( Lollipop). I am on Tmobile and for some reasons, the mobile data setting kept getting disabled frequently.
Anyone knows what to do to fix the issue. I have tried pure stock as well as with root. None of them seems to fix the issue.

Just want to confirm, I have this problem too. Also on T-Mobile.
Edit: is it really just the setting that gets disabled? I have been rebooting to fix it.

Why don't you enable airplane mode and then disable instead of rebooting. It might work.

I tried that, it didn't work. I'm waiting on it to happen again to see if I can just re-enable mobile data.
Even if I can, this is still a very annoying problem. You'll miss a lot of emails, and messages. Yet another reason you might not want Lollipop

Its strange though. But if you go to the setting, then mobile data, you will see that it is turned off. Turning it back on, will re-enable it. I dont know why it does it though. No need for air plane toggle.
Is there any possibility this problem could be tied to a default power-saving setting that is turning mobile data off to conserve battery?
Just a thought.

I did two things, but I haven't had this happen since I did them.
1. Renamed HwPowerGenieEngine3.apk and HwPowerGenieEngine3.odex to disable them. (just add .bak to the end) They are located in "root/system/app/HwPowerGenieEngine3/" and "/<SAME/ARM/"
2. Enabled the option in Mobile Network settings to "Always-on mobile data"
Like I said, I don't know for sure if either really fixed it, but I haven't been having this problem for the past 2 days.
#1 . do I need root to rename the files?

yes, that requires root
I have no answer for you but, I am on T-Mobile and that's not happening to me. My WiFi becomes disabled sometimes/rarely. Also USB debugging gets disabled as soon as I back out of the settings for it. This is on B309.
My friend and I both using HAM2 on Wind, still on 4.3. Phone signal (not only Data) frequently turned itself off, then turned back on after a minute or longer.
Could it be the AWS (1700) frequency not reacting well to Huawei power genie?
I tried using "Normal" instead of "Smart" power saving scheme but no joy. Just froze "Power Genie" app via Titanium Backup. I think it turns the power saving feature off completely. Will monitor to see if it helps. I'll trade network stability for shorter battery life.
Apparently this problem is getting worse with Lollipop update.

LGV30, Sprint, Won't connect to LTE network

I have an LG V30 with Sprint. Last week I noticed my phone wouldn't connect to LTE/4G network even in places where I know there is good service and other Sprint phones around me are fine. So right now it only connects to 3G and even then is mostly keeps going into roaming and won't go back to 3G until I toggle mobile connection on/off. I've tried just about everything I can do. Turned the phone on/off. Checked for updates. Toggled mobile network connection settings. Network settings reset. I even factory reset it and the problem persists. What very little I could find mention of this problem online mentions messing with the APN settings, but I'm not able to do that. For what it's worth the phone still connects to wifi just fine.
Any advice or help would be appreciated because I'm really lost here and it's becoming a real problem for my phone to barely connect to anything unless I'm on wifi.

If you're on stock, reset your SCRTN
Open dialer and type in the following code
##72786#
It will ask you if you're sure you want to reset, click on yes
The phone will restart and it will go through the activating process and you SHOULD have LTE now.

Nope, it just resets your network settings only. Your pictures, apps, music, and other things are left untouched.

SCRTN is a wonderful thing, solved problems for me many times when I was on various Sprint MVNOs.
But it only works with CDMA networks and phones (Sprint & Verizon).
For stubborn network problems on other non-CDMA models and networks I found the engineering/service menu factory reset to be a life saver. In particular did it solve a lack of LTE connection after a "partial" T-Mobile SIM unlock. To be clear, it loses the SIM unlock, which allowed me to unlock anew (and fully this time). Just be aware of that.
1) Backup everything, as the phone will be wiped. If yours is a network unlocked carrier model, make sure you have an unlock code (or unlock approval if T-Mobile).
2) Remove your Google account to disable Android Device Reset Protection.
3) Dial *#546368#*932# (replace 932 with your model number). This should open the service menu. From there SVC Menu - Factory Reset (R&D Only).
This takes quite a bit longer than normal Factory Reset. Your phone is now TRULY back to factory state.
While I haven't experienced any problems after doing this, I cannot guarantee that it is risk free or that there are no side effects that I just haven't detected.
So I would ONLY do this as a last resort.
