Hello Everybody...
I have flashed by phone & installed the Samflare V5 given in this location.(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2530755). I have followed all the instruction but after installation i face the following issues.
1. Default message app is not showing or sending the messages sent only to dual sim card installed in the phone & vice versa,
2. Also seaching for GPS error is still there & it is taking long time to connect with GPS satellite. I have even enabled the A-GPS options but still real time navigation is a problem.
3. How to bring the sim management in the status bar or in the home screen?
Thanks in advance. Pls help me out.
Doing my bit.

Bro!
1st issue I did not understand clearly, however msging is working perfectly fine for me in this ROM.
2: I too could not get a GPS fix anywhere even on a good weather, downloaded "GPS Status" from the play store and GPS now works while I'm outside but nowhere inside my house or in a closed room.
3: Try an app called "More Shortcuts"(logo with an arrow pointing to the right, red background). Not sure whether it gives option for SIM management but I know it gives a lot of shortcuts for many options in the phone.
All the best!!
RE:
Dear Vivek

Hey I still faced issue with this app. There was only a 70-30 chance of a GPS fix.
However I found something which really works outdoors:
1. Switch on GPS from notification bar and in settings.
2. Open Gravity box -> Click "Engineering mode".
3. Look for Location Based Services.
4. Select GPS at the top.
5. There's a greyed out button "GPS off". Click that button and select "Hot".
This gets a location fix within 30 seconds for me...
Hope it works for you brother..

Thanks for the prompt reply, but unfortunately, gravity box is not working for me.. When i click that i get a msg " waiting for response from Gravitybox system framework" & then after few seconds the app exists automatically saying " Gravitybox system framework not responding, Exiting".

First open xposed installer.
Then select "modules".
Here put a check for gravitybox.
Then select "framework" and click on "install and reboot".
This should get gravity box working.
OR...
Download "mobileuncle" tools from play store.
Open app. Go to engineering mode.
Select engineering mode MTK and follow the instructions from previous post..

I was able to get TetherGPS running on my NT. Google maps and turn-by-turn nav are working fine.
Instructions:
1. On your NT, download TetherGPS Lite from here:
http://comptonsoft.com/test/
2. Install TetherGPS. When prompted, enable 3rd party apps and enable mock locations in the development settings menu.
If the Application Settings menu doesn't pop up, you can get back to it by downloading something I hacked together to get to the menu (tgps_launcher) from the address above. Click start in tgps_launcher and the menu will open.
3. Install Google Maps. I have an older version of the APK at the site above, or you can find a newer/better one.
4. Make sure the NT is connected to your phone's wifi hot spot, the TetherGPS server is running on your phone, and the TetherGPS client is running on your NT.
To launch any of the apps, you can click your "n" button, hit search, and start to type in their names. They will appear in, and can be launched from, the search list. (thanks to jdlothar for this tip!)
Nice and thank you! You can also install go launcher and just choose stuff straight from the app drawer.
TetherGPS "not receiving location"
I'm trying to use TetherGPS with the client on a Nook Color running CM7 stable (7.1.0), server on a Nexus S - tethered via wifi tethering.
Once both client and server are started, the client reports "not receiving location" - any ideas?
Good stuff.
If anyone can help me with this, I'm having trouble with street view. When I select it, I'm told there is no app to handle street view. Is there a separate apk just for street view?

Solution: make sure the server actually has a GPS signal
The problem was I was testing this indoors, and whilst the phone (server) had a location (via cell/wifi), it did not have GPS lock. Once I'd moved to the window and waited for the necessary time to acquire GPS lock, the TetherGPS server began sending data.
Version 1.2.0 was just posted. It includes some changes to make it easier to troubleshoot problems. It's now obvious if/when the server transmits location, if the client receives it, and how old the fix is. The server also will transmit network-derived locations if a gps fix is not available or if it is too old.
There was an update to the TGPS network protocol. This version will require you to update both the client and server, otherwise the client will report a version mismatch and not function.
1.2.0
- TetherGPS now sends the best available location (network or gps), and indicates the type and age of the fix on the notification bar.
- Icons have been updated.
- Different color icons now indicate status.
+ Gray = no connection
+ Red = very stale fix or no position
+ Yellow = stale fix
+ Blue = good fix.
The tethergps apps works good on rooted nook tablet and g2x. Google maps picked up signal but get a force close when it switches from the map to navigation mode. Tried reinstalling apps with no luck. Route 66 and Navigon both seem to work fine with turn by turn navigation.

Tested with HD2 T-Mobile running AmeriCanAndroid and rooted NT running ADW Launcher, using WiFi Tether and trial Tether GPS Lite.
For others giving this trial a test drive, as mentioned in the marketplace, you can only use it for a limited amount of time before it times out (trial version). Similarly, if you are turning it off and on while experimenting with settings to get it working, you have to wait a certain amount of time. Just be aware, and read the status messages on your phone so you know whether the system is actually working or if its just timed out/waiting for timer to start up. No big complaints about this other than some nubs like me getting a little confused setting this up to make sure it works before purchase. Also, for nubs like me, make sure you follow the directions in the first post for allowing "mock locations" on the tablet.
Otherwise, the maps, GPS location, and directions seem to work very well. Great work! Unfortunately I haven't figure out how to get the turn-by-turn navigation running.
How did you get the Navigation to work? When I click on the Nav button on the top right of Google Maps it force closes. If I click on the Nav button from the drop down menu on the upper left, it says that I need "driveabout". Did you side-load a Google Navigation Beta apk file?
GPS needs no be enabled on the NT. Use power control widget or other GPS toggle widget to turn the GPS on.

Yes, On the NT, install a widget that allows you to turn on your GPS (even though the NT doesn't have have one) I use Power Control widget (1 widget controls WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and screen brightness). Just have the GPS enabled with that widget, and you should be good to go. It worked for me to allow turn by turn.

I'm familiar with the power control widget. Thanks! I'll give it a try.
I'm getting a "enable a My Location source in system settings" error.. don't know where that is on the Nook. Normally it's under Location & Security but on course on the Nook there is only a couple of options under security. Seems like everybody would be getting this message but nobody has posted anything about it and nothing is mentioned about this in the installation instructions.
Don't forget to activate "mock locations" in development settings.

I did that (both check boxes).. don't see anywhere else where I can "Enable a My location source" in system settings.. (is Mock location supposed to suppress this error message?)

I bought HDC Storm MX phone from China. It has MT6589 quad-core (if that changes anything). It had all the chinese apps, but I removed them, and flashed gapps, and everything is working great, except the gps.
It just cant get a lock on anything. After waiting a few minutes, it just found 2 sattelites, but didnt lock on them.
It's rooted, and I already tried changing "gps.conf" file, but it didn't help.
I attached the screen I get, when I am using GPS Status.
I dont know what the second icon from the left side in the status bar means.
How can I fix this, as there are probably no custom roms for this device?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.

I found the solution. None of the apps from google play worked. Tried gps doctor, fastergps, gps fix etc.
Maybe "gps.conf" trick works when you get partial gps fix, but it didn't for me at the time.
Even reseting and downloading A-GPS data didn't help me.
In the end, the fix was very easy, I just didn't think of that at first..
So if anyone needs it:
1. screen) Settings -> Location access,
2. screen) Location access -> click on "GPS satellites",
3. screen) Enable both GPS EPO and A-GPS,
4. screen) In EPO Settings check the auto download, and click the Download button.
That's it. It helped for me, I get a GPS fix in Waze now in 3-10 seconds.
I read about EPO, but couldn't find it in the settings.
Hope that helps.
Cheers.

Be aware that AGPS and EPO will consume data traffic. Usually not too much - but keep an eye on the data usage for a few days to get a notion of the ammount.
HDC storm mx - howto flash the gapps - recovery mode in Chinese?
I entered the recovery mode hoping I could install the gapps zip file.
But the menu is in Chinese, no idea what I should select!
In fact, the only way I got out of this factory mode was by removing the battery...
I tried to simply install the apps one by one, but the installs all failed.
Advice is most welcomed, but please with the details, if possible.
thanks,
guy

How I did it - I had a second phone with Google Translate installed. I used the option to capture picture and translate text in it.
I don't remember which options from the top I had to choose, but it worked out fine with that method. First I flashed ClockWorkMod (cwm) recovery, and from that point on I had everything in english.
Which CWM for HDC STORM MX
COOL IDEA!
which CWM did you use?

I don't really remember which one I used, but I guess it had to be the one in this file - http://www.putlocker.com/file/79BB23D5D744EC65 (as HDC Storm MX is a rebranded Firefly II)

partial fix
This works to get a quick fix and start navigating...but I have the problem that gps cant seem to keep a lock on. it will show my correct location, and a few secs later its off by a few streets....it will lock on...and lose.
Any suggestions?
it also influences other apps using gps like sports trackers. here something strange(r) happens: it will have mapped my route ACCURATELY, but the distance calculation will be off by A LOT. A 7km run got logged as 55km, a 30km bike ride was shown as 325km. those differences are huge. ive tried endomondo and runtastic - same issues.

It might be related to framework-res.apk
Sometime the OEM modified the map and geo redirection to baidu, user who want to use Google Maps with GPS need to decompile framework-res.apk and change the following properties to
<string name="config_networkLocationProviderPackageName">com.google.android.location</string>
<string name="config_geocodeProviderPackageName">com.google.android.location</string>
in res\values\strings.xml
Did you find a solution for this ?

another variation
I have a similar problem with my Star N9599T (MediaTek MT6589T SoC) in that it has 11 to 31 satellites 'in view' but fails to get a lock.
I have
* used fasterGPS to modify /system/etc/gps.conf
* permitted access to location in settings
* activated download for EPO & A-GPS in settings
* deleted /data/misc/mtkgps.dat & rebooted
* tried several things in MobileUncle>engineer_mode>location
* reset A-GPS in GPS Status
The satellites in view in GPS Test never change from 0.0 signal strength, even with 31 satellites in view.
/storage/sdcard0/GPS.LOG (covering several days) shows about 7 seconds with a lock.
The NMEA log shows what appears to be a lat/long position that stays stable to 0.001°
If anyone can point me to instructions for MobileUncle 'location' or gps.conf I would appreciate it, or if anyone knows what the actual problem is that would be good too
[update]
I unscrewed the inner back cover & checked inside. (just the black screws, but there is one under a tiny sticker at bottom right. Leave the brass one under the SDcard)
It all seemed clean but I blew gently through it all anyway, then found one slightly loose screw which I tightened.
Put it all back together (inner back cover is really awkward to get properly seated) & it works!
It was very slow to get a lock & I reset it several times before it would lock, but it held the lock while walking & got it straight back after I'd been on a bus. (using My Tracks so i can look afterwards)
One thing that it didn't like was switching to GPS Status & back again, it lost the lock for over a minute & was wrong by 25 metres when it got it back. I walked for 50 metres before the accuracy came back.
My HTC Wildfire S can also be slow to lock occasionally so I'm hoping it will be ok now.
.

How come I have to do this every time the phone is restarted? It's a pain when I change battery once a day.
Whenever I try to download an App, the download bar just becomes an indeterminate type & keeps moving; but there's no progress.. After an eternity (never actually measured, I think an hour or so) or so, the App starts getting downloaded & I can see the actual progress bar with the number of bytes left to download. There does not seem to be a difference whether I'm on WiFi or using mobile data. If I restart the phone after setting an App to install, sometimes the App gets installed rightaway when the phone reboots; most of the times I just have to wait for the Play Store to actually start the download.
I'm on the WW ROM, not rooted. Internet connection should not be issue; it's 300 MB down & 4G when on mobile data. Anyone else experiencing this?

Review your 'Location' settings.
Go to Settings - - > Security & Location
Look for Location (it should say On) press to open Location menu screen, review all options shown.
Near bottom of list look for Scanning and select. This will bring up options to use wifi and Bluetooth to scan for positioning. Turn them both on.
They help even when not using. System uses to triangulate (better identify location).
Also check 'Google Location Accuracy'. I know from experience if that selection is off GPS will work, but navigation Apps are fairly useless.
Some suggestions. Hope it helps.

你好,我也遇到同样的问题,没办法解决。
turn off: Google Location Accuracy, GPS will working.
when open google maps, it will ask to turn on Google Location Accuracy .... select NO!!!
On my device, this worked. Download the app "GPS Test" from F-Driod (might be in Play Store? I never looked...) https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.android.gpstest.osmdroid/
In the app, click the "Clear assist data" wait a few minutes. I've waited between 1 - 20 minutes in the past. The GPS redoes all it's data and starts working again for me.
I had the same problem. Contacted Nokia, it's a known problem caused by an update.
About a month ago I received a new update and since then everything GPS related is working fine again.
I had the same problem and sent my phone to repair. They confirmed the issue and corrected it. Since then the GPS works well.

Everything worked well up to today. Since today same problem again. No GPS signal... Nothing seems to get it back working again... Big disappointment!
