I just rooted and flashed my old GT 10.1 with the nameless ROM and it's working great -- thanks so much to kaspar_h for his excellent compile and guide. First time I'd ever done anything unofficial to an Android device and I had zero bumps. It's nice to be on a non-Heartbleed version of Android now!
The interesting thing with my tablet: it reports model number GT-P7500, which afaik is the 3G model number, but there's no SIM slot on the device. Anyone know what's up with this? I remember buying it at Best Buy, I definitely did not buy the 3G version, it came in a Wifi box.
I installed the non-wifi P4 ROM and it's working fine. The only weirdness I'm seeing from this is an always-empty connection strength wedge in my notification bar, which isn't a big deal. I'm just curious.
This means you have the p4wifi but installed the p4 ROM, which is why it shows as GT-P7500.

The p4wifi ROM actually wouldn't install on my tablet -- when I tried to install it, it directed me to the p4 ROM.

That's because you also have the p4 recovery. Download and flash the p4wifi recovery and try again.

Yup, you're right.
So the recovery actually sets the model number on the tablet? Wow, I didn't anticipate it would work that way, I figured the model number would be on the device in some permanent storage.
Thanks for explaining that to me.

Not really, its because since you flash a p4 recovery, it will only flash a p4 ROM because of the assert line that checks what device you have in the updater-script of the ROM to prevent any problems. Once you delete that line, then you can flash the p4wifi ROM.

Ok I had a few problems to get CM on my tab so I tried many ways to install it. At the end I managed to install it but now my tab is recognised as p4wifi and not as it should just p4. Rom manager wants to install p4wifi updates and CWM will always give me error 7 if i want to install a p4 ROM. Can anybody help me to get my tab to work right? THX

Technically the model code "P4" is a designation for all Galaxy Tab 10.1's, and if yours is the WiFi only model, then yours is the "P4WIFI"

It's a 7500, a p4 and I have a sim in it.
Basicly it wants to be a wifi only
Then depending on your carrier, it would either be a P4TMO or a P4VZW.

It's not T-Mobile P4TMO nor a Verizon P4VZW.
Just a straight P4 GT-7500 that wants to be a GT-7510.
I'd like to know how to fix it
Did you perhaps install the wrong flavour of cwm? Lots of people are having problems installing roms due to assert errors, thinking the fix is to remove the asserts. Instead, they just need to put the right version of cwm on

Right, I keep having the same problem over and over again, which seems to be caused by Rom Manager (for which I have paid the premium version). It keeps downloading/flashing "p4wifi" variants of CWM and/or downloaded ROMs such as cyanogenmod nightlies.
I don't quite understand why. Every time, I have to go back to Odin3, reflash a proper p4 version of CWM and a manually downloaded p4 variant of whatever ROM I want to install, Rom Manager just gets it wrong
restock via odin with a P7500 firmware then root/get latest cwm from pershoot for p7500 5.5.0.4 get the "P4" rom from cyanogenmod Site and flash it...

I just picked up a i717 and I'm trying to root via this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740367. I first tried to flash CWM with odin and then I tried a root file with odin then TWRP with odin but after all of them I still cannot get into recovery (it's still stock recovery). Any help would be appreciated.
Read through THIS THREAD.
I had issues when trying to root my Bell i717 as well. All the links to everything you need should be in there...just read...and read again.
in case you miss it or read too fast..
there is a point where you pull the battery so you dont have your recovery overwritten during boot..
once i was in cwm recovery i flashed a custom rom that did not have that "feature"

It all depends what you are looking for.
I want something I can record calls with, and something not bloated.. so I'm still searching for just the right Rom. I used to use wanam on the sgs2 and he spoiled me for all other developers.

Just got my note. Previously had the gnex. I have always used aokp. I plan to install it on this phone once i can get root lol.

I have the Rogers note and running ICS BlackStar X as my daily driver without any issues. Been hearing good things about the Novena rom but haven't tried it out since I'm happy with my current setup.
Just wanna let you guys know! A couple of people tried it and they said it works.
Use CWM 6.0.4 or TWRP 2.6.3.3! Read the comments on the blog before flashing. http://www.cyanogenmod.org/blog/cm-11-0-m1-nexus-edition
Download link: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=manta
Gapps: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Gapps
I'm gonna flash it later today.
I flashed this last night and it seems stable. However, there's no Camera app and no transparent notification bars.
where do you get twrp 2.6.3.3 for manta? had to use the latest cwm to install

TWRP 2.6.3.1 worked fine for me. I didn't know 2.6.3.3 was released for manta.
May have try this out. Did you use twrp or cwm?

I couldn't get it to flash using CWM 6.0.4.3. I tried TWRP 2.6.3.1 and everything went off without a hitch.

Flashed this last night as well and didn't even notice whether the camera app was missing as I rarely use it on a tablet. I have since flashed today's nightly and the camera app is there.
Regarding the transparent notification/nav bars, it is some unknown performance thing specific to this tab.
Anyone else notice the settings are now non-tablet-optimized? They stretch across the whole screen like on a 7" tab or phone. Feels kinda weird... only glaring thing I see out of place.
I tried a tweak to get transparent bars and is true what Google said, you can see the difference in performance, it gets worse. What I don't get is that I tried it in a i9300 too (Temasek) and it works awesome. Hope we'll see a big update for Manta when the next
Nexus 10 will be released.

Exactly opposite for me. Could not get it to flash with TWRP 2.6.3.1 but installed CWM touch 6.0.4.3 and it installed just fine. By the way, does your twrp show 2.6.3.0 when you are booted into recovery even though you downloaded and flashed the 2.6.3.1 binary?

Not sure, out and about right now, I'll take a peek when I get back home.
I flashed TWRP with Flashify. Tried flashing CM11 using CWM Touch and when it failed it wouldn't boot. So I re-flashed CM10.2, booted, DL'd and flashed latest TWRP with Flashify, then CM11 flashed fine. Didn't take note of any version aberrations.

Clean install with TWRP 2.6.3.1. and Gapps Standard 4.4 signed.
StickMount doesn't work, Nexus Media Importer OK, and Flash player OK with Dolphin.
Let's see battery life.

Hi guys,
i own 2 N10. Upgraded one to CM 11 and noticed games from gameloft dont work anymore. Second N10 is still on last CM 10.2 and its working fine on that one. Factory reset, formatted system,.... cant imagine what else to do to start as clean as possible but still no go.
So if anyone has any idea what the problem could be (CM11,me forgetting something, gameloft update altho i hear people on stock 4.4 get it working,... ) please let me know
Thanks all
By the way, MX player doesn't work on the latest CM 11 nightly! The 4.4.1

Hello there fellow members, I was wondering if any of you could give me a heads up on why is my OG appearing as a Mako device? it has prevented me from flashing custom radios which i need as i am experiencing problems with WIFI (it connects, but if i leave the wifi zone and come back it will not connect anymore until reboot) and the zip files requiere a GEEB product ID.
I havent flashed any nexus 4 ROMS, only had to do LGNPST once because of a brick with freegee, but i used the stock TOT file as i remember. Best Regards!

From what I read if basically any part of your phone is 4.2+ its marked Mako because the e970 and Nexus 4 share some of the same hardware specs. Not sure why it would prevent you from installing custom radios though. What recovery and modem zip are you using?
What recovery are you currently on , if possible also mention the ROM version.
Maybe recovery has something to do with it

Hello! Im using TWRP Recovery, i was using CWM before but had to change to TWRP to flash CM11. As for the Radio, its the stock JB radio, it did not gave any problems before, so i dont think thats the prob.
Also i have the same issue with diferent ROMS, so that might not be the way to go either. Current rom is last JB stock from ATT
You have given me an idea, i will roll back to CWM, to see if that solves the issue, as i recall the first time i began having the issue was when i changed to TWRP.
Thank you guys! I will post the results.:fingers-crossed:
It seems like that was the problem, switching back to phils CW lets me change wifi addresses and connect and reconnect normally. Still, the mako Id won't let me install custom radios, as it yields error 7 because of build prop I suppose, but it is all working normally now.
Thank you guys so much for your help and time!!!! Have a great weekend

Hi. I have a problem with my SGS II. The old ROM got unstable, so i want to upgrade. It's rooted and have PhilZ Touch 3 recovery. Whenever i try to flash anything from recovery it tells me the ROM isn't suitable for my device, as it's for "GT-9100", and then tells me my phone is a "". How do i ignore or change the model number? Is it ROM or recovery specific? Eg., what do i have to overwrite to regain normal functionality?

Every ROM I tried had the same problem. Cyanogenmod stable and nightly and a couple of others. Anyway, I got around the problem by flashing CWM with Heimdall. Now everyhing works fine.
