my phone is on its way to sony at the moment, you think they fix under waranty?
The guy who repairs phones and sent it to sony for me says there is no sign of dropping damage at all.
Update : about an hour ago I finally recieved the phone back, it is repaired under warranty even with already unlocked bootloader.
what have you done?
And how do you know the phone works when the screen is off?

You are absolutly right, however I am very carefull with my phone it is always in a cover and when in a cover a phone should survive a 15-20cm drop without a scratch.
All my other phones ( all SE mostly Xperias ) are ''as new' after one year of use, this phone is not strong enough.
This and all te reports of yellow teint and loose bottoms shows that the XS is not as strong and solid as it feels and has it should
feel sorry for ya .. i know how it feels when a brand new phone keep giving problems. i have always used sony products. my 2 televisions (one lcd and one led), 3 laptops, 2 sony mobile phones (neo v and xperia s), 2 camcorders, playstation 3, walkman, are all from sony. in the neo v, phone security is a built in feature. but in the xperia s, its that ****ti mcafee security that handles the security locking in case ur phone is lost or stolen. that mcafee security is a 7 days trial. what nonsense
sony is getting greedy!

I dropped mine more than a foot onto thin carpet. My phone survived just fine. I am betting it is a fluke or something. You might just have bad hardware.
So far i dropped my phone twice and once from the dining table almost a metre above the wooden floor
Nothing is wrong so far but maybe because my phone has a poly jacket case.
Feel sorry for you. Maybe you need to request a phone change
I think bad hardware to, I sent a mail to sony but so far no reply.
When I get an answer I will post it here, I trust sony to fix it and this time for good.
Hope my phone will be fine... i have no varanty in Russia coz i get Europe phone

20 cm drop is nothing.
Mine dropped from like 40 cm height, and landed on its back. No issues at all. That was two weeks ago, and in any case i noticed longer battery life span :silly:
Must be a problem with the headset itself.

Upgraded to ICS in the meantime or just before the drop?
Following the topic opened for the device twisting in pocket (again, apologies for being a di*k on it), I discovered this other problem.
My back cover is not being completely shut.
I have a .5mm gap between the white border and the white back cover on the bottom right corner (looking from the back), just were the vibration motor is.
I'm even sure that this problem is related to another annoying thing for me, which is that the vibration is way too noisy (holding the corner pushed in makes the vibration smoother).
I submerged the phone in hot and cold water several times when I discovered this thing, but no problems whatsoever.
I tried to heat the back with an hairdryer and clamping it for the night, but eventually it lifts back up.
Oh, and I literally burned the white bezel a little (just a tiny little, but that got me really MAD), so be careful with the hairdryer in case you got the same issue.
I will post some pictures when I get hold of a decent camera.
Did some of you notice something like this?

Not really but comming from the note 2 the vibration alarm feels much smoother soo i think ypu could have a bad glueing spot. I believe there is npthing you can do about it but claim a warranty your own repair tries will make it just worse. If you can't get it repaired under warranty wait for ifixit and look if they publish a repair guide with reapplying of the glue (highly doubt it though)

Mate, I'd send that in for warranty, that is not normal. Mine is always kept in my pocket and I've sat on it a few times and it's still fine.

Yeah that was my first thought, but tomorrow I will check first if it's a repair that could be done without leaving the device in for a week or worse.
I don't want to use an old phone for a week, no way.
Not just for a glue thing that can be fixed in like 5 minutes anyway.
From the other thread I posted:
I kept the phone warm for a bit and then I clamped it for 2 hours, it was fine for half an hour maybe, and then the back plate started to lift up again, obviously influencing the vibration as well.
I'm so pissed as I'm realising that I will have to go for warranty one day.
And by that I mean going through the whole "I bought the phone in the UK but you know that Sony covers warranty damages anyway in any EU country if you bought it from one" process.
I guess they'll definitely will oppose some resistance at first.

It happened way before, because the vibration was always strange...
Anyway, I sent it in for warranty, as yesterday I turned it off and it stayed in boot loops ever since.
I guess SetCPU had something to do with it, as I set it to 300mhz when the screen went off, and I suspect the phone didn't have the power it needed to turn back on.
I tried with every program I have (PCC, Sony Bridge, SUS), everything went fine repairing it, but no luck.
Now I'll have to wait more than a month (that's what they said, unfortunately) and I'll have to live with an LG 2X until then crying::crying.

I live in Verona, Italy, and the repair centre is in Milan, like 100 miles from here.
Still, I don't know why the hell they take all that time.
In fact, I will call Sony again tomorrow complaining A LOT about this.
It's unbearable that in 2013, when I send a package via UPS from Italy to US in 1 (ONE) day, a cell phone repair (in which they will probably just replace the whole device) takes A MONTH.

Let's hope so, but I'm not that confident, I'm in Italy, not in the UK... things go slooooooow here.
Or better yet, why just not give me a (paid) option to just get it repaired in a week? I paid premium price for the device, I don't care for another 50 £/$/€, I just want it back.

Hi!
I used my xperia Z2 in a pool with freshwater as far as i know, and took pictures. I've tried it underwater a few times before and I never had problems with the phone until now. After taking a few pictures and recording some 30 sec to 1min videos, the screen suddenly began to flicker and then it died. I dried it as much as i could, and opened the flaps to see if water had entered the phone, and saw some small drops of water inside it, and also noticed that the headphone jack had alot of water inside, which must have been "stuck" inside there, as I had to use a headphone jack to get it out. There was also some condensation under both the front- and backcamera. I tried to turn it on the next day, after I didn't see any condensation under the cameras anymore, but unsuccessfully. I plugged the charger in, and now the red LED turns on (screen doesn't turn on), and turns off after a few seconds/minutes, but it does not react to any buttons. I've also plugged it into my laptop with Sony PC Companion installed, and I hear the "device connect" sound, and also the "device disconnected" sound when I disconnect the USB cable. Is there anything I can do to save it, without having to send it to Sony now?
Should have put it in the rice for a few days and wait till it dries off. One day is not enough because the phone is quite sealed and its hard to get water out of there. Turning it on could have been stupid thing to do and could have destroyed the phone. Anyway try to put it in the rice in a dry place for 3 or more days and then try again. If it doesn't work then sorry bro.

I do believe its true
This is because the waterproof is literely useless, sony says no Chemicals aka anything that isnt your shower/bath/freshwater stream or river/freshwater lake/tapwater
Other words, no swimming pools or sea
You can take to these places, just not for long

Well, Sony actually says that you can use the phone in the following wet and dusty conditions:
You can use your device:
in dusty environments, for example, on a windy beach.
when your fingers are wet.
in some extreme weather conditions, for example, when it’s snowing or raining.
in fresh (non-saline) water depths of 1.5 metres or less, for example, in a fresh water lake or river.
in a chlorinated swimming pool.

Nice find Kevin. In this situation they think I should repair your phone. However, Z2s have manufacturing defects that make those port seals no really tight and when they aren't water gets in. That voids the warranty. Logic is strong with Sony. Mine still hasn't come but when it does, hopefully tommorow, I will take it to a Sony Centre to make sure it is water resistant.
I sent mine back to a service center through my carrier 2 weeks ago. Today I got a new one without paying anything for it I also think of taking it to a Sony Center to check if it's water resistant.

Hi, I have the same problem as you the phone was working though the screen wasn't, I called sony they told me to do a software update and that didn't work, I currently have it in repair, I did tell sony though I'm not paying for the water damage as I had the waterproof covers closed and double checked of that... I am a Sony fan so hopefully they won't let me down
Yesterday afternoon about 4 o' clock I tried that my Z2 is really waterproof by putting it in the sink full of water. After that everything was working fine except the speakers and the microphones, but that's normal when they're wet and after they dried they was working fine. My girlfriend said that she called me about 5 o' clock and she said that my phone was off, but it was on, I'm sure. I read about this somewhere that after putting Z2/Z3 into water they can't receive calls. Except this everything was working good, but about 11 o' clock I realized that the touchscreen has a stripe that isn't working, but about 9 o' clock it was working. Now when I open the phone app I can't write 1, 2, 3 numbers. I opened the service test menu and chose touchscreen test and there was a stripe that wasn't working. I tried to reboot the phone and after that when I write in the service menu code nothing happened, it doesn't open the menu, but the touchscreen was still not working.
I tried to repair it via PC Companion but it became worse. Friday I will take it to the shop where I bought it. I have warranty so they should do it right? and with this problem they will replace it to a new one or repair the one I have?

Better late than never hehe... Also you could try a hairdryer with cool/warm air. I own a z1c and some water come into the phone 3 weeks ago (the back is loose in SIM card slot). The screen started to flick. So immediately I put it in rice and then used a hairdryer for 1 hour .And from this the phone is working fine.

Yes, it's very risky if you blow warm air into the phone. About warranty, go ahead, Just be sure that the indicators in every port are white, and take a close look to the back and front construction, maybe are loose or there are gaps (That's what happened to me)

Maybe . If those papers under every port/flap are still white, simply talk about the touchscreen trouble and gaps/loose on the back or front but don't tell them about water damage and request a refund or replacement. But if one of the papers is red tell them how the gap is related with the water damage and request the replacement. If they don't believe you ask for a waterproof/pressure test in the technical service. Anyway try to get a replacement. [emoji1]
now I'm waiting to that they'll replace it or fix it
I'm in the same boat (pool water though), still under warranty but I still fear they won't repair it.

for me they looked the phone and they said that this is a motherboard issue so they'll send it to a Sony Centre and there they'll decide that they'll replace it or repair it (I hope they'll replace it)
also check the water indicator if it's white or red (it's under the usb and sim card cover above the sim card slot). if it's white then they should replace or repair it, if it's red then they won't replace it

I used it in the pool for a short time, it was working fine right after until that day at night the touch screen started acting up, by midnight the touch screen was all but ruined (not responsive), I left it in some rice overnight, but in the morning it still wasn't working so I sent it for repairs (phone is only 2 month old under warranty).
The Xperia Z2 user guide states it can be used in chlorinated water and I made sure the flaps were closed so not sure I want the phone repaired seeing as it could be faulty, so can you keep me updated?

yeah of course. I called the shop and they said that they haven't got any news right now, no bad or good news. they said in the shop if it's water damage then sony centre will refuse warranty, even with the indicators are white. but if water damage is caused by build quality or something like this (not user fault) and the indicators are white then sony should repair it or replace it, I think. now I don't want replacement instead of repair, I don't care about they'll replace or repair, I just want a working Z2
Question: if the thing that is between the usb and the sim card slot is red, does it mean that there is no water inside the phone?
I'm asking out of curiosity, since i am not planning on dunking my phone into water
My phone fell into a bucket of water and unfortunately, while it dropped into water.
I immediately took it out & suddenly a small strip in the lower-central portion of my touchpad isn't working.
At first, I thought it was a moisture issue. I kept the phone into dry rice for 12 hours. Still, no response.
It has been 4 months still the part doesn't work.
I tested the touchpad using touchpad test from *#*#7378423#*#* menu & took a screenshot.
Look at the screenshot that is posted below.
Any help & advice would be highly appreciated.
Thank you.
