Hi, I have been trying to flash my phone with cf-root from this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
I have been following the instructions to the letter, downloaded Odin, downloaded the Kernel for my phone, downloaded latest drivers for my phone and ensured all Kies processes are shut down. However every time I try and flash my phone from Odin, it comes up with the following message -
<ID:0/003> Added!!
<ID:0/003> Odin v.3 engine (ID:3)..
<ID:0/003> File analysis..
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
Any help on what to do? it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
Mine also failed with same reason...someone pls help!

Have u put the phone in download mode?
Volume down + menu + power on
Yes I have been putting the phone in download mode, been following the instructions to the letter, I have uninstalled and reinstalled Odin, downloaded the kernel again, still no luck...
You are flashing the correct firmware for T model ???
jje
In all honesty I am not sure if there is some specific firmware for the T model, I have been using KF4 during all these attempts. Is there a specific firmware for the T model?
Any more suggestions on what I could do to sort it out?

"T" model firmware is identical save for the modem. If you have a T model you can use any rom as long as you reflash correct modem.
I'd guess OP isn't in download mode lol

No, I am putting my phone into download mode (vol down+home+power), doing everything the instructions for this cf-root say, and this keeps happening...
I just checked again, and even when not plugged into the computer, in download mode it has some small writing at the top left of phone saying "Odin Mode", should this be there when not plugged in?

A guess is that you are not following the instructions regarding the cwm root rom file .
Flash CF-Root-xxx-vX.X.tar (from the attached zip)
Of course it could be that you have extracted the tar file from the zip and its faulty .
jje
well, I have just downloaded it again, unzipped the .tar and tried again, same result..
On phone make sure Settings / Development is checked to USB debugging on.
I'm in the same boat.
I'm trying to root the phone so that I can install the original SIP service to enable VoIP calls as per this thread here so I have been reading up for most of the day (yeah I know stressing out and being over pedantic) Have been reading Chainfire's thread as well as "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1126522A complete noobs guide to root using the [CF-Root v4.0] KE2/7/8, KF1 su+bb+CWM4"
And was following it to a T up to step 15... My Odin message stays on:

And has been like this for 5 minutes..I don't know what to do if I can reset or if that will damage the phone... so desperately looking for answers!
My worst fears are happening right now guys..trying not to panic.
I Downloaded and used CF-Root-SGS2_XW_CLK_KF3-v4.0-CWM4 and my screenshots from my phone are here to compare that I am using the correct one.

What to do!?
Thanks!
Restart Odin unplug phone etc start again make sure you are putting a tar file in to PDA .

I have flashed my GT-i9100T many times using Odin. Successful every time. Maybe try a different computer? Use Heimdall? Make sure you check your MD5 sums
Ok thanks guys, so far my original issue has been fixed, phone had USB-debugging off, turned it on, now Odin at least tries to do it's thing, however now I have this error message coming up:

Hi All,
First time Android use and rooter and I've got a problem with my S3. I have rooted successfully and then downloaded an app from Google Play which allowed me to change the font, after doing this and rebooting the phone it sticks on the boot screen
Can anyone help me to try and get my phone back to a functioning state?
PS I dont have an SD Card installed if that makes any difference?
Thanks
Dave

It was "Font Installer *Root*"

Looks like you have stock recovery.
Flash stock firmware with Odin from here:
[Guide+ROMS]Odin Flash+Root Guide & Stock Firmwares LE4/6/8/9/F/D, LF1/2
Re-root; I suggest you flash Chainfire's [RECOVERY][11.06.2012] ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.5.0.4 - "v1.4"
Having a nandroid backup made via CWM Recovery would gotten you out of your mess within minutes

Sorry, bit tired here, not much sleep last night, and the light bulb is only dim . Maybe I missed something easy Or you're missing a step somewhere.
You could try:
1. Flash Chainfire [RECOVERY][11.06.2012] ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.5.0.4 - "v1.4". This will give you root and CWM recovery.
2. Download a custom ROM xx.zip (don't extract, it's flashable zip for CWM recovery I would recommend Wanamlite
3. Copy to external sdcard
4. Boot into CWM and Install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard > flash.............
5. Allow at least 5+ mins for first boot
[ROM][XXALF2][15 Jun][V1.2] WanamLite Smooth, Stable & Battery Friendly
Or.
[ROM][CWM][ZSALED/XXALF2][ICS][4.0.4] Odexed & Fully Deodexed Stock Roms
Thanks for all your help, took it back to the shop and they've exchanged it for me....

I have a Samsung Captivate SGH-I897. I have been experimenting with various roms to check them out. Now no mater what I try to do I get status 0 error. I can still get into semaphore cwm recover v6.0.2.7 mode. I can get into download mode, but odin will not see the device anymore (it used to). I have tried flashing the semaphore kernel again and even that gives status 0 and installation aborted.
Please help, I have to have my phone for work. I'm on call have to get emails on it. This is very urgent for me.
Thanks so much for any help.
Have you ever successfully flashed a ROM on this device before or is every ROM doing this?

I have successfully flashed about 6 or so. Just tongiht. Now any I try, even the previously working ones dont work.
Thanks so much for your assistance.
Don't you have any nandroid backup you can restore?
Unfortunately I do not.
If someone can tell me what files in the sdcard to replace I can still mount the sdcard to my PC.
Thanks!!!
Are you modifying the ROMs in any way before flashing them? Are you using UOT Kitchen? Status 0 error typically means the ROM is using the wrong kind of flashing script for your device. So, if you download a straightforward ROM which was designed for your phone, it should work.
Last resort, you should be able to flash to stock ROM.
Have you tried reflashing your recovery? You might take this opportunity to try an alternative recovery.
I have not tried to modify roms, im just using as is. I have tried to flash to an earlier version of cwm reocvery but get the status 0 error. If you know of a way I can go back to stock without odin I can. Atleast I can get calls in case of emergency.
Thanks!!!
Have you read this?
I can connect to the phone in download mode with Heimdall, but cant seem to find a Heimdall kernel package. Can you provide a link please?
Thanks again so much.
Sorry, this is all new to me. I've never used a Samsung phone or Odin, and I've never even heard of Heimdall before today. Just trying to help you troubleshoot.
Thanks for all your efforts.
Can anyone tell me how I can manually copy files to the sdcard strorage to recover my phone?
Thank you.
If you can connect via adb, you can transfer files that way. If you're not comfortable using adb, you can use Android Commander. If you have a card reader, though, you can just take the sd card out & put it in your computer.
I can transfer files, I just dont know what files to transfer and where to put them. Flashing does not work so it would have to be manually replacing like the system or data folder I'm thinking.
Can someone please help with this process or give a better one?
Thank you so much for any assistance.
As an update, I have been able to get Odin working again. I tried to use Odin to flash the .tar file for corn, but it does not even get to recovery mode. Next I used Odin to flash the tar file for Semaphone-JB-4.2.1-captivate and can get back into recovery mode again. I tried to use recovery mode to flash some of the past ROMs that worked yesterday, but still get the status 0 Installation aborted error.
So how can I completely wipe the phone and start completely over?
Thanks so much!!!
Another update.
I am trying the "I897UCKK4 Odin One Click - Stock, CONTAINS Bootloaders, Re-partition, Full Wipe" from post "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1300843". It has been sitting there for about 30 minutes now. The top left box in odin says "Set Partition".

Thanks all for any suggestions and assistance.
Wow! Well, congratulations! Next time, you'll be helping someone with their phone.
I made these notes for myself, but maybe they will helps someone else. Warning: Im a noob at this, but this worked for me.
1. performed "i897uckk4_Odin_One_Click_-_Stock,_CONTAINS_Bootloaders,_Re-partition,_Full_Wipe"
2. Follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350266, skip step 5, Use odin to install "speedmod-kernel-i897-k13e-500hz.tar" Phone only boots to the Galaxy S screen, but that is okay.
3. Boot to recovery mode, mount storage, copy "cm-9.1.0-captivatemtd.zip" and flash it.
4. Boot to recovery mode, mount storage to copy Flash gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip, then flash it.
DONE.

why don't you try with cf root via recovery?
1) Calm down. People will help you when they get the chance & not before. You do realise most of the people here are in timezones where it's still early AM, don't you ?
2) 'Odin won't work' gets covered here all the time. There are a set of troubleshooting steps you need to go through. Find similar threads, go through the steps.

No. Don't flash a .pit unless you are CERTAIN it will succeed. Ask yourself this: if Odin won't succeed flashing a ROM, why would it flash a .pit successfully? If the pit file fails, your phone will need a new motherboard. End of story.
What MistahBungle was referring to are troubleshooting steps for when an Odin flash fails. Google 'windoze i9100'. Read the first result (xda thread) and follow the steps MistahBungle posts there.
Hahaha Amazing. That Google search has a thread I posted to as the top result.

Here you go Bungle: all of those results have some sort of your list. Some versions more complete than others. But I can say you have clear domination of Google search results on the topic also note 'You've visited this page many times'
Yeah I saw, when you mentioned it I did a search. That definitely means it shouldn't be necessary for anyone to post them again.

Just to clarify, the troubleshooting steps still apply. Sun90 is meaning that if you were to flash a pit, you'd need a different file.

Ok thanks for your answers. Now everything is working, the phone is rooted and stuff but a few applications don't work at all such as contacts...
How can i fix this?
What do you mean by 'not working?' As in they force close on opening? Or it doesn't display your contacts? If it's not displaying contacts, sign in to your google account and let them sync. If it's force closing, you can try a few things. First go into recovery and fix permissions. If that doesn't work, clear data for the offending apps. Or, If when you rooted, did you use titanium backup to back up your apps? Then did you restore every single app backup? You can't restore things such as contacts, it's a system app.

Hi, my i9100 is on Slimkat (Slim-i9100-4.4.2.build.4-OFFICIAL-3666) -- and has been for a while, slightly over two months I believe.
Yesterday, after rebooting the phone it refused to boot -- it's stuck on the first boot screen, the one that says "Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100" and has the yellow triangle on it. It does react to power button, I can still turn off the phone this way. I did not do anything unusual lately, haven't tried installing anything.
I cannot access recovery:
Home+VolDown+Power -- brings up a Warning screen ("A custom OS can cause critical")
Home+VolUp+Power -- does nothing, the boot screen appears for 2 seconds, the phone reboots/ turns off
Any idea how:
diagnose the issue
retrieve data on internal SD
bring the phone back to usable state
Thanks!
No recovery = your only option is back to stock via Odin/download mode. You shouldn't lose any data doing this, but it may not fix the problem on its own, you still may need to do a factory reset after doing this.
Only way to find out is to try it & see what happens. And no, you don't have any other options.
Thanks a god, Download mode is working.
As say above flash stock ROM via Odin. Download: sammobile.com
Can someone guide me to a suitable recovery? I've tried flashing "CWM-KitKatCompatible-i9100.tar" (which seemed like a good idea since the phone was already on KitKat) via Odin 3.09 however this did not quite work:

Can still enter download mode. Now I need a working recovery. Slimkat was on TWRP I believe however I can't seem to find a standalone version (flashable via Odin)
No, that was not a good idea at all. Because you won't fix it that way.
You won't fix it by flashing recovery. You need to go back to stock, get it fixed, then you can re-root the phone & either restore a nandroid or reinstall a custom rom/kernel.
Also, if you flash a recovery independently of the kernel, it won't stick anyway & will disappear when you reboot.
So...You can either take the advice you've been given & fix your phone fairly quickly, or you can muck around for however long & live with a busted phone.
Problems with Odin flash = same as everyone else; find Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread stickied in General & go through the troubleshooting steps in a methodical way as many times as you need to in order to get a successful flash.

I was hoping I can flash recovery and then immediately reflash Slimkat from it (which includes TWRP, kernel & ROM).
OK, I'll give stock a go first. But only after I sort out Odin.
You're having that problem because recovery is busted. Flashing another custom recovery won't fix that. Only going back to stock which will give you a fresh stock recovery will fix the problem (and as I said in my PP, you might need to do a reset after).
I've given you the tools (Hopper's thread) to enable you to 'sort out Odin'. You need to pay more attention to what people have posted after you've asked for help.
Update: I am unable to get Odin to flash the phone with latest stock. I've been through Odin problems in the past, with 3 different Samsung models and was able to resolve them. Not this time it seems, it's stuck on starting flashing boot.img however I try. Looking at forum responses this often requires a hardware replacement (mobo/ flash chip).
However: I've noticed I can (kind of) enter recovery. If I keep the VolUp+Home pressed long enough, it will ultimately get me to the following screen:

-- but it doesn't go any further, it just stays there. What's more it reboots within 5-10 minutes.
BUT!
When I connect the phone to PC, my Win7 says it installed 2x
Code:
"Linux File-CD Gadget USB Device"
It doesn't show up as a drive unfortunately.
If I do
Code:
adb devices
on my PC, it does detect it:
Code:
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
0123456789ABCDEF recovery
I can't connect or do
Code:
adb shell
because I get:
Code:
- exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -
But I am able to do
Code:
adb pull /proc/cpuinfo
Not sure if partitions got mounted properly, especially the emmc sdcard but -- what's the easiest way to browse the filesystem via adb now and hopefully retrieve some data from the phone?
