Have you rooted your phone? Basically, my method when flashing Vibe ROM:
On CWM 6.0.2.8 > Flash Vibe ROM > Flash Gapps > Flash SuperSU > Wipe data/cache > Reboot.
NOTE: When reboot, you will be asked to disable recovery flash, you must answer yes or else the stock recovery will overwrite the CWM you have. But I am not sure about TWRP.
Else, root your phone using vRoot (Google it), use Mobile Uncle Tools install appropriate recovery and flash back the SuperSU zip via recovery if you don't want the Chinese root management app.

My phone is rooted and have super su but only you can't change the CWR Recovery
I try many time to install cwr 6 0 1 5 with mobileuncle but still the old cwr not change
Better to wait for Stable Rom to try.

Assume you have checked root with root checker right? Ok, try the CWM in my thread. It's a China version CWM 6.0.2.8. The CWM 6.0.1.5 is ROW version. Choose and flash the correct recovery and you should be ok.
CWM 6.0.2.8 > Best stable recovery ATM from my opinion.

The stock recovery what you have got.
If you press the home button, you can see the menu.
If you want to install a custom recovery, you can use my ported CWM, which works. This recovery is based on bgcngm ZTE V970 recovery, using his mtktools.
CWM 6.0.1.2 for Lenovo A390

You can install it - considering that your phone is rooted - with the help of MobileUncleTools; Possible ways from A820 thread.

Red triangle dead android still appears even with your cwm
Hello Cappa. I too have rooted my Lenovo A390 using framaroot. and installed ROM Manager. Initially, ROM manager complained there is no clockworkmod recovery for my device model. I then flashed your clockworkmod recovery using spflashtool. Successful and ROM Manager finally detcted my clockworkmod too as version 5.x.x.x.. But, then when i tried to backup my current ROM, phone reboots and tries to enter recovery mode. But, then the dead android killed by a red triangle still appears. Help me!!!! Somewhere i read that it is the stock recovery icon and the phone should still be able to enter recovery mode using volume up, down buttons. Is it true. Somewhere, I read that TWRP must be used instead, because LENOVO A390 does not have cutom recovery. What should I do next? Suggest. If TWRP should be installed, I would wish to remove CWM first. Is it possible to remove CWM, after it has been flashed?
Sorry for lots of questions.
Will be grateful for your help.
Regards

There can be many reasons for not having the CWM.
You mentioned that you could flash the CWM.
I have not used ROM manager for MTK platform - I don't know if it is compatible with it. I used Mobileuncletools instead: you can change recovery with this program (can be downloaded from PlayStore - free app)
Right after you change the recovery from stock to CWM, then you have to enter into it.
And then make a backup directly from CWM.
This is my suggestion.
Also, I would recommend that run the chinese application remover, right after entering the CWM.
The reason why I suggest it that the stock rom can contain patches, which rewrite all the modified recovery to stock.
can i flash twrp recovery with same scatter file to remove cwm
One more question. I found on several forums that TWRP recovery works for Lenovo A390 and can be flashed using SPFlashtool. Will flashing the TWRP recovery overwrite the CWM recovery, if I use the same scatter file. I guess the scatter file provides the start and end address for flashing into ROM.

Hello,
I visited TWRP site as well as CWM recovery site. Niether of them supports Lenovo_A390_ROW, not listed. I guess coz the brand is new to the market. ROM Manager too complains that the phone model is not supported and I should wait until an official recovery from CWM is available. However, I googled and got one CWM recovery by cappa for Lenovo_A390 but got the dead android triangle. Then, I googled and got a TWRP recovery for Lenovo_A390_Row and flashed this one too (some friends suggested flashing with same scatter file overwrite the previous CWM). But, I still get the dead andorid with triangle icon. What is wrong? I guess the recovery images that I am flashing are not correct. Do you have the correct TWRP recovery image for Lenovo_A390_ROW?
How can I use SPflashtool and make the downloaded cwm 6.012 a scatter file?

I downloaded SPflashtool and the CWM recovery image. It says I need a scatter file and it couldn't continue. How do I make that CWM recovery image a scatter file to flash and how do you flash that into the phone using SPflasher? Do I need ROM Manager for that?

[Q] can't install clockworkmod recovery

I have a rooted MDK Verizon S4 with SuperSU installed. I had been trying to use Rom Manager to install clockworkmod recovery and every time, it comes back with the message that it has been successfully installed. When I try to boot into recovery, it wouldn't work. I finally installed GooManager and went ahead and installed TWRP. Now I am able to boot into TWRP with no issues, but when I try to overwrite and install clockworkmod recovery from within Rom Manager, it again comes back with the message that it has been successfully installed, but it still boots into TWRP.
I understand that I can use TWRP to switch over to a different rom, but I am just befuddled as to why I am not able to install clockworkmod. Can you guys please help me understand what I am doing wrong?

You can either ODIN the CWM edition you want (for example Philz Touch Recovery - http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/jfltevzw) - get the md5 file of course for ODIN. You can also try to flash the zip file of Philz Touch Recovery from your SDCard (same site - http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/jfltevzw) through TWRP. Reboot into recovery and see what happens.

Thanks. When I was trying to install CWM within Rom Manger, I ended up paying for the touch upgrade, hence my desire to try and install CWM form within Rom Manager... It's just a bit frustrating that I can't figure out what's going on..

Forget about the recovery.img. I don't know why it is there. On the i9100(and i9100T), there is no seperate recovery partition. It is bundled with the kernel. So if you have a custom recovery that is capable of flashing a lollipop rom, just use that. Once you have flashed CM12.1, the CM recovery(kernel) will overwrite the recovery(kernel) you had anyway. Which is not a good thing(not that you have a choice). Currently the CM recovery is not very functional compared to CWM or TWRP

I'm assuming you have stock unrooted firmware? The easiest way is to install philz kernel from stock(3e) recovery, then reboot to recovery and flash a newer recovery that is capable of flashing the newer versions of android. If you just want to install CM12.1 straight away just back up your efs then:
1. Download the DVLSH kernel .zip from HERE
2. Download the philz 6.48.4 from HERE
3. Reboot into stock recovery, flash the DVLSH kernel(if your firmware build is DVL**, you could probably reboot into system no problem)
4. Reboot to recovery(not system), flash the philz 6.48.4
5. Reboot to recovery(not system), follow the steps for installing in the CM12.1 thread after backing up etc
Keep the DVLSH kernel. Once you install CM, you will have CM recovery, which only allows you to flash signed .zips(which this one is)
EDIT - The philz 6.48.4 is also signed and is probably the more useful one to keep, being compatible with the newer roms

Is it ok to flash twrp over cwm or do i need to remove cwm first

Is it ok to flash twrp over cwm or do i need to remove cwm first. Hi i have been searching for this particular topic and found no definite answer. I am currently trying to flash blisspop rom on my phone and it says to use the latest twrp recovery. The problem is I have cwm installed on my phone. So my question is ok to flash twrp over cwm or set my default recovery to twrp
@onedaynerd: simply replace CWM with TWRP 2.8.6.1 by Odin. Ashame TWRP can't read/restore CWM-backups.

As far as I know, there will/can be only one recovery. Any recovery can be overwritten by the other. Just flash the new recovery and it automatically replaces the old one.
Example, If you are currently having CWM then boot into CWM recovery and flash the TWRP recovery zip file and reboot the device. Check the recovery by booting into recovery again. Now you will find TWRP as your recovery. CWM will be gone.

No Rom booting, no twrp access ... need help !

Hello,
I have a samsung alpha from korea (G850S) and I tried to install the custom rom ResurrectionRemix so I rooted my phone using odin 3 and CF auto root, then I have installed twrp using flashify app and finally installed the rom.
The rom was apparently not stable because it has booted the first time but when I rebooted my phone it was stuck on samsung alpha logo, so I decided to install Jumbo rom.
I made a wipe (system, data ...) and install it using trwp. The problem is the instalation failed and now I have no rom and I can access to trwp anymore
I only have access to download mode and android system recovery <3e>, I have tried to instal trwp again using odin but when I press vol up+home+power I have the samsung alpha logo
With android system recovery I can have adb acess but I dont know what to do.
Could you help me ? Thank you
This happened to me with my g850f. Make official rom installation with odin. Use cf auto root again BUT you must install twrp 3.0.0.0 for higher android versions like lollipop or marsmallow. You can find twrp 3.0.0.0 or higher versions by searching xda forum. After rooting your phone you can install twrp with flashfy. You can find it in play store. Good luck
Sorry for bad english
