I've put the Generic .757 ftf in firmware folder of flashtool. But when I select flashmode in the application, it wouldn't show the ftf to flash.
Any help?
is flashtool looking in the correct folder?
Make sure you are using the latest flashtool as well

No, I have downloaded it from here: http://xperiafirmware.com/8-firmware/41-sony-xperia-z-ultra-c6833
In fact, I'm trying to switch from GPe to monx .757 and I've read that I should flash .757 with flashtool first, then flash monx .757

Doing that way is safer
What you need is baseband, kernel, elabel, etc so one of the stripted FTFs from here should be fine http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2712899 just use the one for your model.
After flashing the FTF you will need to get recovery again, so either DooMKernel or jackie099's
If you do flash a stripped FTF the phone will be in an unbootable state untill you get a Sony system on to it (ie monx or Sony)
---------- Post added at 06:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:39 PM ----------
The other way of cause is to flash monx then the FTF, that will mean less farting about. Then if you feel the need you can flash DooMKernel at a later date

After flashing the stripped FTF, how do I flash monx? via recovery? since it's a .zip file
I also tried flashing monx .zip on top of the GPe but that didn't work out and failed
You should be able to flash monx from the GPe rom, then flash the stripped FTF on top from flashtool.

Well, I've told myself, why not give blueether's carbon rom a try! I installed it and then I wanted to move to monx .757 now I'm stuck with cmw not starting aroma installer on monx .zip and I dunno why I don't have TWRP to restore my previous nandroids.
I've seen better days

download jackie099's kernel with dual recovery and flash that with flashtool/fastboot and you will have twrp again to restore the backup. I dont know why CWM doesnt want to the aroma installer

I've searched around and can't seem to find the solution.
I'm on WB5 w/ Doomkernel and I want to go back to 2.1, and try a fresh reinstall of everything, including unlocking my bootloader (which I also don't know how to do, since I'm using doomkernel for locked bootloaders and there's one for unlocked, and I don't want to mess up anything).
Thanks to any who answer

You can't flash a whole stock rom with xRecovery, since you can't flash kernels and basebands through it.
You should use flashtool to downgrade your phone.

Im on the new WB 5.00c and want to downgrade to 2.1.A.0.435 Global Generic ROM - Root / JIT v2 / xRecovery - Working WiFi (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936462)
it also includes a base band. Should I downgrade from the current 71 based one, after i flash the rom listed? I am as little unsure as I have always upgraded upwards. Was not sure if there was an incompatibility. I should know this by now as I have flashed many roms with xrec and flashtool also. My whole intention is to unlock the bootloader. I dont mind a full down grade since I have found 2 major issues with the wb rom, and may or may not upgrade back to it. Just need a reassurance is all.

Whenever you flash a firmware either upgrading or downgrading, just make sure that you flash the proper/compatible baseband and kernel files. These are generally provided with the firmware in the form of .tft file or the proper kernel is mentioned in the post itself!!
Here is a list of all the firmwares!!
Simply flash using Flashtool. Link is mentioned in the post itself!!
Edit: you can try the firmware mentioned in the link. Just remember to flash the Firmware files using flashtool as mentioned!!

Thanks always helps to have reassurances!

I looked in sony forum here and they say you have to relock bootloader (but flash stock kernel first and I don't know where you can get the stock kernel to download) to update via pc companion or update service
So just look around for the untweaked stock kernel or make a new thread where you are searching for it

I don't know exactly.
But if it's like this, you needn't extract it. Just open flashtool and click on the flash -> flashmode -> and there you can exclude all files like system etc and just kernel is unmarked, so it will flash only the kernel...
Just flash stock kernel again, then download stock firmware and flash it via Flashtool
flash ftf on Flashtool
confusion as a simple thing to download your official Stock ROM file in ftf format. After applying via FlashTool in modol FlashBoot only that. Kernel Standard ja is automatically installed and all its default settings.
: Rir:
People, people...why post when you don't know what you're talking about??. The reason stock ftf gets flashed is because it already contains stock kernel!! duh!
About unlocked bl, you only need to relock it if you plan on updating through pcseus, which isn't vital since you can flash any firmware from downloaded ftf, aside from that there are no other pros or cons to unlocked bl
now its all done, just updated wit pc companion, worked well. but now i need to root my device to use titanium backup.

Flash any rooted kernel, people have reported extended and mesa to be working fine. (if bootloader is unlocked)
Otherwise this method is also reported to be working. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26914104#post26914104

Hi all...
umm yes it should work. I've not tried flashing ontop of 4.2.2.... but its a sony base, and the most important files will be replaced when you flash the new ROM...
But like blue said... if it doesn't work then you'll need to
1- flash the .290 FTF
2- then recovery, and then
3 -doggROM..

Hey guys!
Ive been trying to figure out how to go about rooting my tablet but since I am new at this stuff I just want to make sure I dont **** up
My questions are:
1. My tablet is 5.0.2 atm, as far as I know I have to downgrade to be able to root?
2. If I need to downgrade I believe I need a FTF file, I have a LTE version which is bought in sweden. Do I need a specifik FTF file for my country or can I use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2741233to downgrade my tablet?
3. Can i still use this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2792056 to root my device after I downgraded the firmware or is it outdated? If its outdated is there any updated guide I can use?
Any help is appreciated!

1. There is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461. But it ain´t give proper root and there is also some security concerns with it but your decision.
2. Yes. You need FTF file which is 4.4.2 firmware for you device. Latest rootable is 17.1.2.A.0.314. Here is download link for SGP 521 if you want. https://mega.co.nz/#!cN5ykLrL!0w38j4lWIHFm1rZdwexScG9Cpz2BghrSZPpLRkyTcL8 . However your link should work also. If you only use it for rooting it don´t have to be for your region.
3. Your link would work for rooting properly. However there is other methods too.
4. After you achieved root just install custom recovery for you device and flash latest prerooted firmware for your device with it and you are good.

There is no need to unlock bootloader if you just want to root your device. Bootloader unlocking is needed if you want to try custom kernels or roms that use custom kernels. And yes this work for your device also.

Yes you can downgrade to 4.4.2 firmware with locked bootloader. After that you don´t need kingroot to root your device because @[NUT]´s dualrecovery pc installer can root your device before it install custom recovery. After that you can flash prerooted firmware (= .zip file) with custom recovery. Usually prerooted stock roms has whole firmware including kernel. Their also include SuperSu and custom recovery. And there is no need to unlock your bootloader in any step for this unless you want to do that.
OK so I flashed a ftf file from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3061431 I don't think its right as its for HK etc. A 4.4.2 ftf. 17.1.a.2.402 HK/sa/as/kw.
I was on 23.1.A.1.28 in the UK as O2 UK being the 4g network. But according to that thread the 23.1.a.1.28 I was on is generic HK so I'm confused. How can I get back to my original then? Thanks

OK thanks I did it without the ta partition like suggested but wasn't sure if it was 100% correct. Should all be fine though. I'm currently now rooted and all fine but what I want to do is have a Pre rooted flashable zip of my ftf I've made so it is my actual stock ROM I'm running. I've looked into the prfcreator but don't wanna do it and run the risk of bricking my z2 tab. Have you used prfcreator? I guess all I need is my ftf file to use. The most update supersu zip I want. And then I need to somehow have the xzdualrecovery.zip but not sure if that's all I need or if I need the current Sony signed kernel or what. Thanks

No need to be sorry. You don't need to sign your zip because TWRP can handle unsigned zip files just fine. There is nothing wrong to sign your zip file but some times it can cause problems. Your choice.
Does anyone have this issue?
I flashed the latest Oreo zip with twrp & used that for some days. now I want to revert back to stock .291 ftf.
But flashtool fails. I used the same flashtool, same firmware files multiple times to revertback to stock. But now It says
.....Something like not for this device... >Older flashtool(searched & found this solution but not worked)
...Something like bundle is not valid...>The flashtool that I used before & successfully flashed.
Those error indicates my firmware file isn't for my device. but Believe me IT IS~!!
But to clear my understanding I downloaded fresh firmware from Xperifirm not worked.
Then I searched and downloaded firmware from XDA but ALAS! Not worked either.
I uninstalled and reinstalled 3 different versions of flashtool but nothing positive.
I think, Flashing oreo made some changes to our device & it's no longer a Xperia z2(on software sense i mean).
What to do. Anyone tried flashing stock .291 or any other older firmware after flashing OREO???

Yeah, thanks a lot. your version worked.
For someone facing same issue:
Download flashtool http://www.mediafire.com/file/n2b1yvbie6e0ywm/flashtool-0.9.18.6-windows.zip
Install it & then install the driver located in C:\Flashtool\drivers
Download .291 ftf(I mean the last one) https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767151138
best of luck :highfive:

Which file contains password? I don't remember having a password but if the firmware zip file has a pass then I can upload the ftf file without password as I have extracted it already.
If it's flashtool then just install any old version.
