[Q] Trouble in restore using TWRP recovery? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently using MIUI v5 (Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean) on my Galaxy S3 i9300...
Previously, I used Clockworkmod recovery to create a nandroid backup of Cyanogenmod 11. After I installed MIUI i flashed TWRP.
The problem is... It seems like i cant restore the backup i made of Cyanognenmod using CWM from TWRP recovery...
The window where I browse for the backup folder in TWRP is empty, both for internal and external memory.
How can I restore it?

Backups from twrp are pretty different from those made by cwm..
So you need to have cwm or more popular philz touch recovery..
With philz you can restore backups done from twrp also which have a different format and can only be restored by twrp

[Q] Recovery mode

Guys, currently I'm using DorimanX kernel. It has the latest CWM which is version 6. But I dislike CWM v6 because when I backup my ROM it will give out 2 folders that are backup and blobs. It is quite irritating to me because before this I copied the backed up ROM into my laptop and back to my phone but an error persisted, it said "MD5 mismatch". Thus, I would love to go back to CWM v5 without losing the DorimanX kernel, is that anyhow possible?
Thanks in advance.

There is no need to go back to an older CWM recovery version.
(You would have to flash a new kernel with the other CWM. Or flash a temporarily CWM just before using CWM recovery.)
Boot into CWM recovery, then select BackUp & Restore. There you can change the backup format from dup (incremental backup format with blobs) to tar (classic full backup).
Good luck !

[Q] I'm stuck in recovery

Rooted Galaxy S3 i9300
I have TeamWinRecoveryProject recovery installed.
However I wiped a ROM that failed to install (CM Nightly 10.1), and when I went to restore a backup, they weren't there.
Now I'm stuck, as I have no ROM to run, and no backups to restore.
Starting up the phone normally gets me nowhere, and in recovery mode there's no ROM to flash.
How can I flash a ROM from my computer? or is there a way to get the backups back?
Thanks, Charlie.
This guide will teach u how to flash a custom rom from adb.
Why don't u just copy a rom .zip file to your sdcard and flash??

[Q] CWM recovery for SHW-M250S?

is there any possibity to install cwm recovery to my device which is already rooted using framaroot? i want to have cwm for making a nandroid backup of my rom.

[Q] Wheres my Note II TWRP directory for Nandroid?

So, after having soft-bricked my Verizon Note II and wound up with rooted and unlocked and CyanogenMod 5.0.2 and TWRP recovery 2.6 0.1, I want to try some other stuff but want a Nandroid backup first.
But Nandroid wants e to select my TWRP directory for backups. The only TWRP directory I can find is on the extgernal card and Nandroid rejects it.
Maybe significant: Somehow I have an old ClockworkMod recovery installed somewhere. Somehow it took over from TWRP. TWRP Manager does not see it, and failed trying to install TWRP. Similarly the CWM recovery failed installing TWRP. Finally ODIN succeeded, but TWRP Manager still doesn't see any custom recovery..

[Q] CWM Recovery Question

My phone was originally on android 4.1.2. I installed a 4.4.2 CWM and backup up my data, and then installed a 4.4.2 rom. If i want to restore the backup, can i just do it using the CWM i already have installed (for android 4.4.2)? Or do i need to install a 4.1.2 CWM first? (I am using a LG p769)
What do you mean 4.4.2 CWM? And yes, version of cwm doesn't mather, you can restore any cwm backup you made with any cwm recovery version.
