Just wondering if this is even possible.
Would be amazing.
no... not possible... and no chance for any other OS to put on WP devices.... first, bootloader not allow this and most important hardware incompatibility, drivers not working... Lumia 920 is great device with excellent software and no need to be "cripple" with other OS...
dxdy !! men your tutorials on HTC HD2 came handy to me lots of times !!! Thanks for that !
But don't tell me it's not sad that Meego has been left behind. It was an amazing OS! I'll buy a N9 when I have the money to do so.

Hi,
i am interested in buying an Lumia 800 but i do not have any knowledge or experience with windows phone. I just want to try this system and the Nokia devices have a very good navigation software and a good camera. How big is the chance that a WP8 Rom will come to the Lumia 800?
Normally i use a Galaxy S3 and just want to buy a second device to play around and test somthing new. So please excuse my noob question. The L800 will cost around 200€ without a contract and i think its a nice alternative to my Samsung.
thanks a lot
lumia
its not going to happen the most you will get is wp 7.8 only the new line of lumias will have w8
if i were you buy the 820 or 920
rob:good:
I would like to buy them but they are too expensive just for testing and playing around. Is it impossible because of the hardware specifications or that there will be no WP8 Source Code available which can be customized with drivers etc. ?
Not possible mate..though u can have a word around here..

Hi,
Even if someone ports a WP8 for a current WP7 device he/she would have to disable all the specific WP8 functionalities which requires higher hardware specification (Dual core CPU and all) so it would be kind of a 7.8 with very marginal improvements.
So I dont think there would be much of a gain in trying to port in WP8 to 800
just my 2 cents and I can be completely wrong
Hee!,
I am an engeneering student and I do not think it is already fair to say porting WP8 will be posible, or not. It is true that the hardware of our current Windows Phone device doesnt reach the Microsoft hardware minimum for windows 8 device. Although this is their minimum, wich not only concludes the ´needings of the system´ but also ´marketings minimums´, for example: who would upgrade to a WP8 device if it is slower?
So not having the minimum hardware requirment doesnt really mean it is imposible to run WP8. Although it requirs a lot of porting and I am not sure if somebody will succees doing it.
Also one last point to mention, as you can find on the forum you can not update all Lumia 800 devices, depends on your bootloader, wich you cant know when you buy it on Ebay.
Does anybody know when Lumia 800 will get an official WP7.8 update? And will it be available in Europe?
they say , in the mittle of December...

Lumia phones are mostly phones as some testing tweaking devices. So i'm wondering, what you expect, as long as 800 is flashable only with qualcomm bootloader. New ones have only Dload, which is not hacked yet. Lumias are not like androids - completly different ROMs, patches, flashable apps,... Lumias are great, fast, reliable phones. Not for messing around.
i think you will try lumia920 or lumia820/822,lumia800 only have wp7.8
Is it possible to install Android 4 on Nokia Lumia 920?
Unfortunately not at this point in time, Many users would love to have a dual boot option, Set a bounty to the Dark Forces Team to work on HSPL and if there is enough interest then may be work will begin
Either way it will not be happening for a very long time.
Yes, you just need the boot floppy.
i want Android too.
Not much love in WM8 now.
According to the reviews I read getting HSPL for the WP8 devices is close to impossible. (although that was said about a lot of things) I personally would however not want Android on this awesome device even if someone paid me for it

Buy an Android phone then. Problem solved.
These aren't desktop computers you can just load any OS onto, they are complex embedded devices.
There is a surprising lack of compatibility on ARM processors, so you're better buying the phone with the OS you want to run.

Have to agree, why get a WM8 phone if you want to put Android on it?
HD2 was also a wm6.5 phone, right??
But I don't think there are a lot of HD2 still running wm6.5.
Why people keep porting different OS into it? They can just buy an android device, problem solved, too.
I think there will be more fans if 920 can be ported other OS.

What is "WM8"?
There are more than enough Android phones bro.
You bought the wrong phone if you really want Android
the Lumia 920 is pure Windows Phone, you can fell the power and style it
radiates
There was not a single port of Android to a WP7 phone and almost all of them had HSPL. When looking into HSPL for Nokia though some Devs decided it was to hard to crack - I would guess with Secure Boot this has not gotten easier.
So all in all: it is highly unlikely that you will see an Android port for the Lumia phones or any other WP for that matter. If you don't like WP8 and want an Android device: sell the Lumia and buy an Android - everything else seems likely to just frustrate you to no end.

I've been hoping to see the hardware excellence of Nokia unleashed with an Android operating system....but not really sure if it will ever happen...especially with an ex-MS man at the helm. BUT... reading the above post, does it sound to you like he is not ruling out Android for Asha devices? It would be great if they had Android for Lumia devices too... but.. .it would be a start. What do you think?
hello . i have an lumia 710 and somebody wants to change his hd2 for my phone. is it worth?
Depends of what you want.
U can do a lot with the HD2 (flash android/WP7...), but he is a bit outdated now.
i think i would keep the 710.
u can always sell it and buy a better equipment

I have both but and I also prefer the Lumia 710, but the HD2 is, in my opinion, the best phone ever made, if you like to try a lot of different roms on your phone you should go for the hd2, it supports wm 6.1, wm 6.5, wp7, wp7.1, wp7.5, wp7.8 android, ubuntu, meego etc ... and they are also working on porting wp8.
Hmmm, I'm not making it very easy for you...
Succes,
And what are the pros and cons ? I would like the htc for the screen and android. Wp became too limited for me. The only thing that keeps me from not doing it is the warrranty. The hd2 doesn t have one.
How come Nokia Lumia 920 and Windows phone 8 is not rootable ? I do not believe that until now nobody rooted. I think nobody wanted to do it. Is there any developer to do it ?

you dont know anything about WP? Wp system is make to be safe and stable, not as android... bootloader must be unlocked (for now only Lumia's 710, 800 and 900 have unlocked bootloader and unlocked ROM with root access but this is WP7)... and if someone can unlock WP8 bootloader have much greater problem with encrypted Windows NT (because WP8 is based on NT, old WP7 is Win CE).. hacker cottula tried to hack it but not successful for now almost after half year http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1971048

There's plenty of forums courtesy of XDA for Android; there too are plenty of forums for Windows Phones and this is one of them. Some of us use both operating systems, I for one use both, I prefer WP though it does make us in a tiny minority but like old folks we are a loud bunch!
yea I was telling my friend earlier that stock vs stock vs stock I prefer win phone 8 > iPhone 7 beta > android 4.2.2.
its customization and open sourcing that makes tweakers flock to droid, and it is better if you like customizing for hours with rooting and ROMs etc. but win phone 8 is the most secure by far and a better stock os than android. it all comes down to personal preference. I like all 3 but I really wish there was more options with win phone.
