Is there a KK rom with Wifi calling? I find myself using it all the time at home and work because neither location gets good reception and would hate to lose it.

So im kinda confused about the wifi calling app. Does it use your minutes? if so why not turn wifi on and use your phone? whats the purpose of the app? Thanks
It does uses your minutes, its usually use when you have no coverage and with is available

But why do you need an app? Why not just turn wifi on thru the drop down bar?
Trigger 2.9.2
Wifi calling is not the same as just turning on wifi.
Think of it as replacing your regular phone signal (not data) with your current wifi connection. This app does just that, without using some voip thing, and your phone is still identified by your sim card. Just, you have wifi as your signal instead of some cell tower.

Hotspot will not work with 4G. I recommend you d/l wifi tether. That is what I use for 4G. Just do a forum search, I've seen posts w/ the apk attached that should work for you .
Looked up one link. I know that the latest version is 108, but here is a link for 105.
http://android-wifi-tether.googlecode.com/files/wifi_tether_v3_1-pre105.apk
Or even better reference this thread. I believe that V107 is available.

Is anyone having an issue with their data keep droping out while tethering. I am rooted on jelly beans build 1 - beanstown 106 rom. I wanna say that this happened once I rooted. Before installing a rom I tried foxfi and it conected for awhile then the 4g and data would drop out causing me to reset. Once I turn tethering off then on it works again for awhile. I thought it might have been foxfi so I installed the custom rom beans and am currently able to use the phones wifi tethering app but the same thing happens. Any suggestions?

Unroot and b return to Vzw. You got a bad phone. My Galaxy nexi(had 5 of them or so) did this until I got a good phone.

So urs would actually tether for a bit then just drop out?
Theres got to be more to it then just bad hardware cause the 4g and wifi never drops untill I tether for awhile. Then sometimes it wont do it for hours...

I think it is the stock app. Mine does this sometimes, and so did my Stock Galaxy Nexus, but the Galaxy Nexus never did it when I was using ROMs... I haven't tried any ROMs other than stock or any non stock tethering apps on the Note II yet, but I don't think it is the phone.
Well thats a relief. Thanks. So should I flash another custom rom?

Do you have anything like Tasker or locale running they both will disable your Wifi

I'm currently on jelly beans 3 and also have this issue. Tethering is almost unusable for me. Never had any issues with the galaxy nexus.

Same issue. Stays tethered but 4g drops on and off after 3 minutes of activity

Same problem here. Must be the app.
Sure enough the native hotspot app is a POS and causes LTE to intermittently drop. Now have to resort to rooting and installing wireless tether.

You don't need to root to solve this. You can download Portable wifi Hotspot from the Market for free. It works great.
Root was a piece of cake with Chainfire's Exynos root exploit apk. And, as others have mentioned TrevE wireless tether is working much better than the native Verizon hotspot which was experiencing intermittent LTE disconnects, slow data throughput and connectivity issues with one of my older devices. Ran overnight without any LTE disconnects so far.

I've tried barnacle and wifi tether both do the same...will try some others. Went to beans' build 3 not doing it so far. Maybe something got fixed in the update. Am using phones native tether setting/app fyi.
Thinking of going to the clean rom 4.1.2.
Has anyone had tether problems with this rom? Specifically with 4g dropping out?
I didn't read this whole thread but if your 4g is dropping out its because your using the stock tethering and its not been hacked this is normal for it to drop out constantly and very annoying like. My s3 does it to. Use WiFi tether treve mod and again I didn't read this whole thread so if it has already been said just ignore my comment. Good luck. If you don't know what treve mod is I can't remember if its built into aroma with duild 3 or not but if its not and can't figure it out. Step over to the Verizon s3 section find treve mod and set up your note 2 the same way they say to set up the s3 and you'll be good to go. Again if this had been said ignore me. I'm bored. Hope it helps someone.
I pay for the unlimited hotspot feature from Verizon, and I often have the same issue on my stock, unrooted Note 2. It doesn't happen all of the time, but there periods where it constantly cuts in and out, especially when connected to a PC. It was also a problem on my Galaxy S3, RAZR MAXX, and Galaxy Nexus.
If you search around online, you'll see that people using the stock mobile hotspot app have been having the same issue for years.
Stock hotspot app AND Trev-E wireless tether does this to me constantly so it's got to be something else.... Its strange because some times it won't do it and then there's times where i'm dead in the water without the ability to tether. Yes I pay for tethering (plan).
My previous Galaxy S3 did the same crap to me as well... Thinking its a Samsung thing.. modem bug/kernel bug probably.
Anybody find any fixes/solutions?
Mine has done it periodically since I got the phone. Both stock and various versions of beans and clean rom. I just restart the phone and device connecting and it takes care of it. Happens maybe 1 out of 100 times.
A contact at Verizon says he sees people complaining about it sometimes and another one at sprint says the same thing.
For whatever reason my WIFI is very slow (YouTube, SMB, etc) when using Sense Roms on this phone but the problem goes away using a GPE ROM on the same device. Connection speed is the same on both ... Anyone else having issues?
Btw I've already turned the battery optimization on off for WIFI same problem. Using a Linksys E4200 G/N both do it.

Mighty be stupid... But I just recently moved from Verizon to att and it seemed like the wifi was slower on the vz phone... Probably doesn't apply, but thought I'd share.

I get the problem occasionally too but fixes when I do a hotboot
I've been having the same problem for the past week. Just started out of no where. Sometimes a reboot doesn't fix ot. Completely stock here.

So it might be a tmobile thing then i guess
Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
A matter of fact some s5 do it and some don't
Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
Yes I get this several times a day (10+ times). I've found that either going in and out of airplane mode, or more easily, attempting to place a call (doesn't matter if it connects, I usually just call my voicemail and hang up immediately) fixes it. I had this issue much less frequently with the GS4 and I had a previous GS5 that I turned in on warranty for an unrelated microphone issue which had the same problem. I live in a big city if that matters at all as it's possible it's a network issue (I often go into buildings/elevators where there is no service which sometimes seems to cause it when the phone tries to reconnect to the network).
I've found that a little bit of tape helps keep my data from being loose.

Hard to say since you gave us no details about your phone configuration. What is your OS version? One of the bugs that the 4.4.3 update is purported to address is frequent data connection dropouts. Sound familiar?

Ive had at least 7 different phones and numerous tmobile customers complain of this. From whatbi understand its cause there doing major network upgrades
Sent from my SM-G900T using XDA Free mobile app
I figured it was because of network upgrades. I just got VOLTE in my area so that could explain it.
