Hi Guys,
GeoHot has released an apk to root pretty much all devices.
http://www.phonearena.com/news/How-...d-phone-easily-with-the-new-Towelroot_id57177
The root method seems straight forward, has any one tried this on G2?

I've been looking around and see a lot of Photosphere mods for most android phones, and when I try them on the L9, none of them work. Has anyone had photosphere to work?

It requires a gyroscope sensor which L9's don't have.

I wouldn't say that's a good reason why. That's up to LG to whether they want to support an older model or not. It may not make financial sense for them to do so. If at least they would give us an official way to unlock bootloader, things would be better. The community could keep it updated themselves.(which has been done) Picsphere(photosphere alternative from Focal) somewhat works on this phone, but its a headache.

When it comes to update , don't trust them unless it has been officially announced.
Hope you read about what happened in Estonia recently .!
I don't see a big reason to jump from 4.1.2 to 4.3 ! It would have been better , much better if it were Kitkat.

DUDE you have to be Positive
this is straight from AT&T they said that the update is Done and they are testing it for bugs
first 4.3 Then 4.4
I highly doubt about OG updated to 4.4 !! Considering the LG update policy.
SOmehow I find it hard to believe or rather say "trust" in the support agents.
But if this is true , and is on it's way soon . Then its good.

before i ask at&t i ask LG about the update and they said that it was up to the carrier to update there devices so this is another hope that we will receive the update. And we know we cant trust the Agents but this can be true
Well I guess we'll find out by next Spring if they were lying.
Some random CS agent on a chat is hardly surefire proof that there will be an update for this device. It's dead as far as ATT is concerned. They've already forgotten about the people who bought the G2, which is 2 generations newer than this device. Just hang out here, use the awesome ROMs that our devs bust their ass to build, and enjoy a device that is better than ATT could ever make it.

In news : G2 is getting update 4.4 Kitkat internationally . First week of January.
If there's news about G2 getting updates , but no news about OG , then it's probably the End.
Looks like he was just trying to get rid of you...
But if its real, then it would be great!
It has been almost 2 months since the original post and there is still no sign that LG Optimus G will be updated to KitKat. Doesn't matter, I already did my own update to 4.4.2 a month ago and it has been running smooooothly.

Yes, via a customized version of the G Pro or G2 update. There are lots of very good developers working on ROMs for the OG.
Well, there IS a KK update coming for the E970.
You can see some internal details here:
http://gsm.lge.com/html/gsm/E970-M10-D1-KK.xml
The problem is that No One Knows When or IF this is actually getting released.
+1 for KK Coming to LGOG in the summer
Got this info this morning. Does not give any specifics or details but it is better than nothing.
LG Optimus G will get Android KitKat in Summer
P.S. OMGMatrix your link does not work.

Admittedly this is for a French carrier but...
LG Optimus G will jump from 4.1.2 to Android 4.4.2 KitKat this summer

I'm on Verizon's edge plan. Have been for little over a month. I want the nexus 6 when they have it in the store. I'm rooted. Would it be bad if I bump'd it and installed a Rom on my g3? Or should I just wait? How do I unroot when the time comes?

When I joined the edge program, I traded in my unlocked, rooted Galaxy S3. When I traded in my Note 3 for the LG G3, it was also rooted. All they care is that the device boots up and isn't damaged.
I'm debating jumping to the Nexus 6 when it comes out, it all depends on dev support now that the G3 has been opened up.

Okay good. I'm just more familiar with nexuses. I had a galaxy nexus, a 4 and 5. So. Yeah. And with the g3 you can't do much. If I understand correctly, you can't run a Rom with a different base as the stock Rom. So most aosp and lollipop Roms are out. And on my n5 I ran the loli dev preview. Its nice and clean. I loved it.

"Bone up"? So are you saying I'm dead wrong? I thought that was the case. It had to have the same base or something. I don't know. I figured if it was completely open I'd see things like AOKP, CM, and PA... but like I said. I'm familiar with the nexus line. The G3 made me realize how much I don't know about Android and how much a breeze nexus is. It's a learning experience.
