I have never used that before. If stock LX kernel support it, it will support it too.
Why not for 4.3 or 4.4? 4.2 is rather old at this point...

Install instructions:
first time
- power off the phone:
- hold vol+ and plug usb to boot into fastboot (blue led)
- fastboot flash boot boot.img (from cm9 zip)
- fastboot reboot
- enter recovery, on boot led will be violet for 3'', during this period press vol+
- flash rom zip
- flash gapps zip
- wipe
- reboot
for update just flash rom zip from recovery
Google Apps are not included in this ROM. You'll need to find those yourself if you want them.

You can fix error 7 by adb... get adb connection while you runing recovery and type: setprop ro.build.product lotus
I will fix that in next cwm... I have some surprise for next version today! ... sorry for being offtopic...
About CM9 rom, I must to say rom have bootloop!!

Looking at this guide it seems you have to repartition your internal memory something i'd rather not do.
When I have time I'll look if i can modify the instructions to instead use an +-2gb .img file.
-edit: nvm the guide doesn't actually change the partition table it seems.

The whole process should be same except you have to have different ramdisk(initrd.gz), cmdline, ramdisk for recovery, zImage. Ramdisk modification should also be same

Yes, i tried, adding this to build.prop make crashes systemui
Try to modify atmel-maxtouch.kl in system/user/keylayout. This is to disable the capacitive button functions.
At the very buttom, you'll see some "Key". All you have to do is to put a "#" before each line. Then save and reboot.
All this with the extra line in build.prop!
