I have rooted my Micromax A116 Canvas HD and updated to DogeMod Android 4.4.2(Android KitKat).

Now I am trying to disable the default dialer and make exDialer as my default dialer. But I can not find any way to disable the Phone App. I have set the exDialer as default by going to settings-> apps-> all-> exDialer-> Launch By Default. Is there a way to do that.

well al u gotta do is make a mcall from any other app other thn the default dialler r the 3rd party app
nd it ll ask u which to choose select ex dialler and select always

go to apps> all apps> phone (with the dialer icon)..and then disable it...see if that works..
I tried to do that, but both Disable and Clear defaults buttons are disabled.

I am using xperia x10i running on cyanogen mod 7. I recently installed Go Launcher and downloaded Go Dailer. Everything was working perfecty until I noticed that I can only clear missed call from the default dailer. I can only clear the missed call notification from the status bar but I can only clear the call log from default call log. Is anyone out there have experienced the same problem?? Thanks in advance!!
did you mean you want to delete it from a stock apps?

i am having the exact same problem!!! and i also noticed that using CPU Tuner on Go launcher makes it extremely slow!! i have to uninstall the Go launcher just to clear the call log!!
Why dont you use history eraser? It can clear call log and also other crap that slows down your phone.. Give it a try..

3) Possible to modify number of home screen.
4) Speed up stock mail (not gmail) client. Which is really very slow in operation.
5) Color icons in quick settings.
6) Separate volumes for Ringtone and Notification

I believe there are not much changes and R2 is still a good ROM.
I still having the following request if these can be done.
1) Hiding application in Sense app drawer
2) Folder support in app drawer
3) Possible to modify number of home screen.

Most of the thing you ask are not supported by Sense Home Launcher and will, probably, never be.

Anything can be possible. If those are available then we do not need any other launcher. So HTC can think of it.

modifying number of home screens already achieved in R3 with 3D Rosie, but giving trouble in installation.
color icons can be done need to work, as you can see One X mod for quick setting having those color icons which you have asked

Ok so I have a S5 and I don't really like the default messaging app since it lags during group texts.
When I install a theme, when I try to change it to Hangouts, the only option it gives is OK or cancel to use the default sms app....it does not let me change it to Hangouts. Is there any way I can change it?

It does not give me the option to use Hangout (google hangout is a sms app) the only option it lets me is the STOCK SMS app

Try this:
Long press on the homescreen - Themer Settings - App Preferences - SMS - Hangouts
Hangouts suck
have you tried disabling the alerts of your default messaging? with that way, the alerts from Hangouts are the ones that you are going to receive. Also, if your phone is rooted, you can use Titanium backup to freeze the messaging.

Settings>Apps>Dialer
Clear defaults for dialer.
Try making a call. You'll be asked to select dialer/Skype.
Select Skype>Always.

If no default is set then whenever you try to call someone it should ask with which app you want to open it with. Select skype, then tap make default (or something like that, dont have my phone in front of me).

I don't think it can be done.
The member Kolda_CZ was able to get the Google Dialer working on S6 without root permission, I tested it on my LG G4(H815) and so far it's working great!

with a layers theme it is also possible to theme the dialer / contacts app. now i have a dark dialer again!
i hope we will see a dark theme for the rest of the ui anytime in the future. the available one do always have bugs with dark font on dark background.
I installed google dialer on my MM stock rom, and disabled the Contacts app (the LG app) from Titanium Backup. The dialer works flawlessly, and the no FC whatsoever when searching for contacts. Much much better than the LG dialer! I also kept the LG in-call UI because I like it better than the Google in-call UI.
Only thing is that I'm rooted and I installed the app manually by placing the apk files in the [app-priv] folder inside the [system] folder.
How do you replace the in-call ui? mine still with LG stock ui, how can i change it?

I am not on stock anymore but it is possible / done it myself in the past...
I believe you should go to settings / general / applications and there you have on upper right 3 dot menu. From there you can change the dialer (the same time you change in-call UI,
or,
on the same location go to Dialer.apk and you will have 3 dot menu on same location... Sorry, I don't remember anymore...

I downloaded the latest version and set it to my default dialer. I can't disable it the stock dialer since I'm not rooted, so I just changed the default dialer to the Google.

Try this:
Go to Settings > Apps > 3 dots (top right) > Configure Apps > Default Apps > Phone App and select the new app.
Now go to Settings > Apps > 3 dots (top right) > Reset default Apps and remove the old dialer
It needs just only phone numbers in the contacts as setting so you don't have emails etc under contacts like the older/original version
