[4.4.4]so the home swipe search shortcut got butchered - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

and the uninstall, or disable button for the new Whats New app is greyed out,
so good xda fellows, is there anyway to get rid of this?
i can stand up and deal with most of the bullsht sony forced onto my phone but this swipe shortcut is almost the most used thing on my phone and if i cant get rid of it im fkin done with it, Stock android here i come
and to think of the new android L, hell knows how long till sony done it's nasty work to it and how much the feel will be left when finally updates to this phone after probably 6 or 7 months gets pushed

Get rid of it.
Hi
I had the same problem with the annoying "What's new"-Thing but it can be disabled with some simple steps. Just open an adb shell and type in "pm block com.sonymobile.advancedwidget.entrance". After rebooting the phone the google icon should be centered again. Also I think your rant about Android L and Sony is quite unjustified since you are complaining about the latest version of Android available
Have a nice day,
Kalle.

Yes, I have a Pipo M9 Pro and I would love to delete this . I believe this is rockchips buggy useless crap version of a multiWindow / tasker...
Anyone know if this can be done?
hello..
I deleted it from my Nexus 5 and the phone crashed overnight. The screen went black. You might call it soft bricked.
Fortunately comma I flashed it the next morning using the Nexus root toolkit. My preference would be to name the developer of that miraculous program because he deserves all the accolades for it. Unfortunately comma I'm unable to at this time.

Can the user "Nephatiu" answer a few things..

The forum wont let me post on any developer thread so i cant post there, sorry >.<
I want to know if your root files for Bluestacks v0.8.1.3003 can work on the latest one, because downloading another 500MB would take me all night and if i can avoid that itd be better because my internet is so sloooooow >.<
The second thing is, well not completely about the root package but about the latest bluestacks 0.8.xxx, is it normal google play never works and basically just closes in a split second after opening? ever since i upgraded from 0.7.xxx google play simply doesnt work for me, and oddly, so does ADW Launcher (it works but after clicking it for a while it crashes the entire emulator) same goes for chrome and the gmail app... just thought id ask you this because you're the last person making root files for bluestacks and the only seeminly knowledgeable one since the bluestacks developers never reply to anything....
Hi Chakkas,
Just so you're aware, you can notify a member that you want to speak to them by putting an "@" sign in front of someone's username. They will then be notified of this thread.
Just like so - @Nephatiu

Well, haven't tried yet, since I always completely reinstall BlueStacks from anew. I suppose it should work for updates where they changed the emulator, but it's questionable for upgrades where they changed Android, because that would probably be in the rootfs.
So the only thing I can say is: If you're lucky. I would suggest backing up your old 'Root.fs' and 'Data.sparsefs'-directory, so when it doesn't work you can easily put those 2 back to revert.

Actually, at this end Google Play Store doesn't crash, nor does ADW (or I wouldn't have added it). I know Play Store didn't work for me in 0.7.x, but that got solved since 0.8. Did you freshly reinstall BlueStacks or have you always upgraded? Because upgrading could always be the culprit, seeing as it will probably not have been made to expect rooted systems...
Theoretically it shouldn't form any of a problem, though, but practice has proven theory wrong many times before... ;p
Anyway, I hope that sufficed for now...

I guess its worth it, no point in holding on to the current version of bluestacks if the newer version fixes stuff, and god knows the current version im on has its bugs, so buggy it could make an exterminator go bonkers if i had to be precise.

Ah, so this is where Bluestacks stores all the Android data apps make and the apps themselves and their settings? Whenever i previously tried to root Bluestacks id save the entire \Bluestacks folder in ProgramData as a backup incase things went south, keeping it to just those two files should make things easier...

Weird, we're at like opposite spectrums of it lol, for me 0.7 worked but for you it didnt while with 0.8 it did for you but not me. I wonder if the folks over at Bluestacks made it as a way to prevent users that were previously using the Play Store since companies have to license being able to use Google Play..

[HELP] Google Now cannot search phone apps.

On other phones I'd had Gnow has a long list of apps that can be toggled in the attached picture. Mostly useful for music search commands. My rooted, locked Z2 has a weird entry called "apps" at the top and no fiercer options.
Surprisingly I saw a google forum with a similar issue dating a year back but aside from that this seems like a very rare problem.

There is an very easy way to do it ... with kingoroot. It took me like 3 minutes totally and no issues up to now. I even got an stupid /security/ update which f**ed up some things with an adware inspired by facebook messenger so whenever i`m trying to read or send a message trough browser i get immediately redirected in play store where I get offered to install the app.
However i just want to say that i`m still getting some updates even with my rooted j5.

It's related to facebook changes. Search internet and see.
As a solution, you can change the browser to desktop mode and then you won't have that annoying problem.
There are also some slim facebook alternatives, search on xda / Reddit / Google.
I'm using facebook on browser as well.

well there are some issues: camera , and when i speak on the phone and it is next to my ear suddenly i notice that some things happen ( by pressing somethings on the screen) so i have to speak carefully; the themes don`t work but it is not bothering me at all
However i won`t go back to stock !

Looking for Motorola Update Service components to disable to prevent OTA or OTA msg

Currently:
Android version 6.0.1
Model: XT1650-02
Build Number MCLS24.246-36-3
I'm one of many people experiencing issues with the Moto Z (Force) move to Nougat. In doing so, I have choppy audio, tinny sound, popping and crackling as well. When contacting Verizon, they claim that nobody else is complaining about this to a point where their company is notifying its CS reps with a resolution. When contacting Lenovo/Motorola, they claim that they've received a ton of complaints since the Nougat release, and suggested that I bring the phone back for a swap since I had only just purchased it. I did just that, and followed their additional instruction for not updating to Nougat. The only problem is that the freakin thing downloads automatically while on wifi within a day and no way to prevent it that I know of. Now I have this aggressive attempt of the OTA management to get me to start the process. I don't want to, but neither do I want to manage having to ignore this update every day, nor do I want to accidentally initiate the process. I'm looking for a bit of help.
I thought that if I disabled the Motorola OTA service that it wouldn't push. But it did push even though I stopped the service under developer options. And even now that it pushed, I hoped not to get the message, but there it is. And since I don't want to root yet, I can't clear the space in cache where the update is to prevent it from updating accidentally. I'm looking for the names of any other Moto services that might be related to the OTA that I can disable to prevent this from happening. I don't mind factory defaulting my phone and starting over to clear their cache, but once the update actually executes, I'm hosed with crappy audio again. My wife has the same phone and we have one day to get her a new one for free within our return period. We like the phone, do not want to get a different brand, and hope that we can find a solution to this. Again, I want to do this without rooting.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Hi,
I myself greenified the app called "Motorola-Updateservices", package name is com.motorola.ccc.ota, apk name is 3c_ota.apk
Since then I never had another notification that nougat is available and I didn't search for updates either of course.

About to download and try it out. If it works, I'll be back in a couple days to report. If it doesn't, I'll be back sooner. Thank you for the suggestion.
Also, if you can provide any specific configurations to manage the OTA, I'm at your disposal.
SuD
PS I won't be searching for updates either, but I will be bugging Lenovo/Motorola to find out when the bug is fixed.
I'm rooted, have xposed and the donation version of the app.
As the OTA app is a system app you can't greenify it without having xposed installed and the donation package of Greenify.
Try to just disable the app with the normal app manager.

It worked on 6.01 but no longer on 7.0. If you debloat on 6.01 and take the OTA to 7.0 everything you've debloated stays that way unless you do a factory reset.
for some reason google took away the ability to use the adb commands in 7.0
Almost like they want us to be stuck with bloat lol.

I just tried it and I get some permission error. So it seems after the Dec patch it no longer works on '6.
I have Moto Z Play -1.
any suggestions for someone who might have accidentally downloaded the system update, but hasn't installed it yet? It makes me nervous, having that "new system software is downloaded and ready to install" message b/c I know one day I'll probably accidentally click on it and there won't be a way to go back.
I am a Z play owner.
By installing Z (not play) apps I believe I have disabled the OTA. But I have no nagging update to test it's functionality on.
To my point, if this does work then the reverse should work also.
I will up my apps if anyone want to try it.
