touchscreen "sticky" - AT&T HTC One (M8)

I know this might sound mad, but does anyone else feel like the glass on this phone sticks to your fingers way more than other phones?
lots of resistance for my thumbs X_X

Screen protector

Does it really help to have a screen protector on STR? My nook is always inside a case, and always have some finger smudges on the screen, which does not interfere with reading the screen content.
Would it make the screen harder to use, such as in a resistive screen? I know it has IR technology, not resistive lcd, but it is good to know...
I have a screen protector, because I have cats and dogs who're lurking around my nook, and I'd hate to see them scratch the screen. I'm not using any case for it. The film does not affect the touch sensitivity in any way...
thanks for the info, emarusceac.
I can see dogs and cats and stuff being a problem. I just have an old NC sleeve laying around that works. If you can stand the wait, ebay is cheap Turns out the NC and NST width is the same...
emarusceac,
what sort of screen protector are you using?
Hi mh127,
I'm using a basic anti-glare screen film from ebay.
The nst is the first touch screen I have not used one on.
It is perfect now, the matte should hide small scratches, it gets used more lightly than phones/tablets, it is light (less damage if dropped), and it is cheap!
I am going to buy one.
I must warn you that it's VERY hard to apply it smoothly. I mean you'll get some air pouches caused by small particles, those bubbles won't go away no matter what you do. I prefer bubbles to permanent scratches though....

I ordered one. Was concerned that it would be tough to apply because of the high frame around the screen. Any tips how to apply well? You use a credit card to smooth the film down over the screen?
Oh one more thing. Has anyone tried removing one? Does it change or damage the screen in any way?
I have had several different screen protectors on my NST and none of them caused any damage when I removed them. I would note though that I have read that you must not apply a screen protector to the Glowlight, something about the built in screen protector and its light guide properties. I would also point out the one reason my NST has had multiple screen protectors is because they are so hard to apply without getting bubbles/lint between the screen and the film. The film I have on now I finally got applied without any bubbles/lint in the reading area, so it will hopefully be on there for a while. Make sure you are working in a CLEAN area and take great pains to get it lined up straight before actually applying it to the screen.
The NST doesn't need a screen protector, it really wont do much for the device, but if you really feel like spending the money for it go ahead.
The NSTG already has a protector built in, putting an extra one on would be like putting on an extra pair of latex gloves. It'll offer a little more protection, but it can get to be quite frustrating in terms of lost control. It's advised not to bother with a protector for the NSTG.
Personally unless you know you're going to have your NST in reach of creatures with claws, or lose objects with sharp edges the protective screen will do little for you. Even in those cases it's possible the screen would merely lessen the damage done rather than prevent it out right.
In regards to the NSTG and it's pre-installed screen protector, has anyone actually removed it? I've read lots of reports of people complaining about minor scratches and finger pressure marks causing the light to become very strong on those parts, wondering if removing the screen protector would fix that or whether it's instead a problem with the screen.

They claim there is one, I claim they lie as there is no visible edge of one. If there was you wouldn't get the light flares from minor scratches. Adding one may protect the screen but no idea what it would do to the light guide properties of the screen. If you ever have to remove it I'd worry what would happen to the light guide layer.
Because gadgets capabilities/sppecs increase rapidly & prices drop fast too, unless it's expensive I forget about screen protectors if the device is cheapish (got mine cheap) & if it will be outdated in a couple of years. Specially if it's not an outdoor device like my phone. Or if the protector hampers speed / functionality to some degree. Also personally I rarely scratch tab screens unless it's a phone, my phones/tabs all have protectors put on from day one, but not doing my NTSG. YMMV.

[Q] Any way to hide scratches ?

Hi
My 2 years old daughter made me drop my tab
The tab is still fine but there are some scratches.
When powered up, I don't see them, except one, but it's annoying...
I am wondering if there is any way to remove them ? ( I don't think so )
So my question is : if I put a screen protector, could it hide these scratches a bit ?
If so, what about ArmorSuit ?
thanks for you help
Everything really depends on how big/deep the scratches are. If this were not such an expensive electronic device, I'd say use a glass/plastic polish, but I wouldn't recommend it for this. A screen protector might help hide some of the scratches, but to be honest, I couldn't promise anything. The screen protector may alter the way the light hits those scratches or the way it is reflected, so it may in fact do what you want, but its utility is going to be all tied up in the way the screen protector is made, whether it's matte or glossy, etc. You might have luck hiding the scratches with a Zagg Invisible Shield. I wish I could give you a more definitive answer. Hope this has been at least somewhat helpful.
thank you

why change ASF material on Z ultra?

Sk this makes me very sad but i can't be sad about it as it is ENTIRELY my fault, so i got a z ultra eventually fell in love with it's the design everything, it was my baby as i already own a z1 i had already planned to peel the anti shatter proof film off it just makes it look cleaner with no logo, my z1's film was as simple as that to peel off.
i had also managed to scratch this film when writing on it with a pen AS you are supposed to do, anyway i expected a quick and easy carefully push a needle under then drag as easy as that.
When i tried i got a big chunk that i was able to use to peel it off, so i tried then it just dissappared i wonderd what happaned, so i kept on trying untill i finally managed to discover that the film litterally breaks into pieces as i had already begun the freak of nature operation i couldn't stop.
So i spent over 4 hours carefully pushing a needle under every bit of film not breaking it, once i was done i was faced with IMPOSSIBLE glue so i started panicking, but i read aceton does the trick so i asked my dad if we had it we didn't but he had a different slightly stronger color removal solution, so i used it and the glue came off quite well the screen was shiny after getting most of it off but the edges (too scared to go there as this stuff melts plastic)
Anyway i cleaned my phone with a tiiiny bit of soup and some fairly warm water, good as new untill i noticed with horror that i had managed to make 3 small tiiiiny line scratches only visible under a light and when the screen is off.
So here comes the panick, i wish i didn't do this i really do, but how was i supposed to know they changed this? and how the heck do you scratch a dragontrail glass screen using a normal needle, i did use some moderate maybe hard force and slowly scraped the screen but there was a huge layer of glue ontop of it.
I feel like crying but i DID not know, makes me think sony did this just to punish people removing this film
Yep from all accounts it is a right dog to get the ASF off our Ultras, the best way I have seen is a little heat (hair-dryer?) a razor and acetone.

Pass.
You could try not to try and catch the light on the screen when it's off

Think not the liquid glass protector will not make the scratches gone .....but you could do one thing order a new asf from aliexpress put it carefully on cause it's very difficult here's a video of z1 ............http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toIEvqsPSHY
and after that don't know mess up your phone bootloader or something hard brick it and return it to sony they will give you a new one that's what I did when I scratched my Z1 while removing the asf.........you had to have very careful while installing the asf it is very difficult procedure i mess up two asf's the third one was golden for me ...................
If the OP would have read upon removing the ASF, he would have known just how difficult and time-consuming it is. I personally refuse to take on this task and just put on a high quality screen protector on.
here comes the panick if only life was nicer to me
it seems to me that the glass has moved theres a tiny opening at the bottom you can fit a needle in it it is between the edge of the glass and the frame
so the horror story of accidently pushing down that strong liquid comes to mind but from what i remember i pretty much stayed away from the edges as i didn't want the plastic to melt so WHYYYYYYYYYYYY
it seems the waterproofing is still intact though i have cleaned this phone several times without noticing any problems but yeah i am about to lose it i am i really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really AM!
please tell me it's supposed to be open a little at the bottom compared to the top where it's sealed shut
here comes the tears i WOULD HAVE NEVER DONE THIS KIND OF THING IF I KNEW THEY HAD CHANGED EVERYTHING!
the film was scratched from using a pen on it
WHY DO THESE THINGS ALWAYS HAVE TO HAPPEN TO ME WHY CAN'T THINGS GO RIGHT IN MY LIFE EVER EVER EVER EVER GO RIGHT
i hate myself so much my poor baby i loved that phone i got it on sale so it wasn't a 600$ loss but a 200 or so
i hate my life in more ways you can imagine

that gave me a little hope but no i think i ruined the waterproofing and it is now waterdamaged the speakers sound odd with static the screen and the rest works fine but it seems to me the speakers are different
i loved this phone so much and look what i did too it i highly doubt the z2 ultra will be as beautiful as this one this one was perfect and i had it then i had to ruin it

S9 plus slight body finish imperfection.

well there is something I want to show you guys that has been bothering me for a while now, I didn't want to share it before cuz I find it rather ridiculous since I am the kind of person who notice things other people usually don't. and i'ts most likely my OCD just kicking in.
there is a very slight imperfection near the headphone jack where the glass meets the metal, it seems like a small bend, I'm not sure. here is a video of it.

does anyone has experience with anything similar ?.
could it be just the painting process? I can see that some people online are experiencing some paint pealing off. isn't the aluminum andonized though. whats funny is that there are some micro scratches on the device here and there but they don't seem to bother me as much as this. my friends can barely notice it.

I guess you don't use a case? I use bulky OtterBox cases and I couldn't see the issue you're referring to even if I tried.

my phone has been in a case since day 1. in spiden neo hybird. the thing is that you can only see it under certain light. I believe it came from the factory this way. it looks like it's machined this way or something.
it seems that this slight imperfection is present on all corners near those white bands but not on all S9 plus colors though. only on the shinny variant liliac purple and gray. the black doesn't seem to have it. mine has this corner worst than the others but I can see all the corners are suffering slightly from this looking at the phone directly with overhead light.
I even watched a disassembly video where the guy removed the glass back of the phone and I can see how it's has a bend near the white line in the corner. I think it's part of the manufacturing process of the aluminum andonizing of these colors. since I think the aluminum frame is made from a single block. since unlike other phone that use a plastic buffer between the metal and glass there is no way to hide the machining imperfections which is expected I guess.
Had this on my s8 also silver model.
Did you peel the plastic protective strip off? (Hint: you didn't, I can see it).

Question Removing the inner screen protector on the Find N2 Fold was a huge mistake

Just in case anyone is thinking to remove the inner screen protector on their Find N2 (fold) - don't.
I am crying for days now after removing it, and I hope I can at least save the heart ache to other people.
The screen didn't break or anything, but two things happened:
1) Unlike the front screen, the glass surface under the inner screen is not very smooth. My fingers glide easily on the front screen with its protector removed, but there is some resistance on the naked inner screen; not as "oily". This is the smaller problem.
2) The crease is now VERY visible. What I didn't realize is that the original screen protector is a little matte, and it makes a great job deflecting lights reflections on both sides of the crease. With it removed, the surface is more glossy, and some light always finds its way to the crease, making it visible. If I look at the screen tilted away from me, I don't see it as much. But that's not a natural way of holding the screen.
Please think twice before removing it.
If there is someone who already removed it, and found a good aftermarket protector to apply, please share your experience.
I feel bad for you bud.. I haven't thought about removing mine but appreciate the heads up bro!
