When I pass this phone along,I would like to leave a couple of apps on phone.so I don't want to do a reset.but I don't want my Google account exposed to someone else.
Is there a way to delete play store or Google services but leave the apps intact and useable.can this be done with titanium backup pro?then uninstall tb pro.
Any suggestions or threads to read would be appreciated.

Go to Settings>Accounts and delete everything there. Then boot into recovery and wipe data; this will erase your personal/app data without changing out the entire rom and removing apps.
Thnx for reply.
Won't a factory reset/wipe data wipe all downloaded apps?it leaves ROM and associated apps written into ROM at development?
Will a nandbackup of apps I want to keep go to root memory and after reset flash backup in recovery?

Only the "factory reset" portion will remove user apps, which is why I didn't suggest it. There's a "wipe data"-only option in recovery that will keep all apps but removes the user data from them, basically putting them back to the state they were in when you first installed them.
Perhaps for you it would be best to simply perform what you need (per your OP) in the Settings>App menu, and press Clear Cache, Clear Data and Force Stop on the apps you want to remove your info. In this instance you won't have to mess with recovery and TiBu, if you're simply trying to remove personal data but keep the apps.
I'm using current kk recovery 2.0.4.6
When I go to recovery,it only gives me the option of wipe user data/factory reset.it doesn't split the option.nothing in advanced to pick and choose.
Titanium backup pro gives me more options.uninstall without backup would be perminent.I need to find out about Google system apps.which ones can go,which needs to stay.
Anyway I need to put phone back to stock to get rid of yellow triangle(baseband is kk6 GB).jig doesn't do it.after that I will reinstall everything and try tb pro.thnx

If you go into Advanced/Mounts & Storage, you should see options to format individual partitions. He's talking about "format /data", but I think his last suggestion would be safer for you.

I am under the impression that user-downloaded apps AND their data are stored in the /data partition, so I would say that yes, formatting the /data partition will remove user-installed apps that were not explicitly installed to /system.
This is why many KK firmwares now instruct the user to install mini gapps, so that subsequent gapps are installed to /data, saving space in /system.

edit: but perhaps the "wipe data" option is different than formatting /data?

I think it's just a semantic's thing. In TWRP there's a "wipe data" under "Advanced Wipe", I've never formatted data...

Ok, I have finally convinced my wife to let me play with her vibrant. I plan on rooting it tonight but before I put the new ROM on her phone she wants me to try to backup her apps. She does not want to lose all of her data for her current apps. Stock 2.2 is always freezing or messing up on her and she is getting really annoyed!
My question is this, in order for me to move everything over (app and data) is there a step by step guide for Titanium Backup so I can do this properly?
(When I did it to my phone, I screwed up and lost everything on my vibrant and I don't want to do this again.)
I know with MIUI it has a backup feature which is awesome and this is more than likely what I will put on her phone.
Please help!
Thanks in advance
It is pretty simple really. In Titanium just hit batch and backup all apps plus data. You can also choose to save the backup on external micro sdcard just in case.
When I did that last time it wouldn't put everything back I guess I don't understand the process
Sent from my T959 using xda premium
What exactly did it not restore? Hit menu and batch and you can see what apps you are going to back up. Similarly when you are restoring you can see the list and it also gives you option to restore the app + data or just the apps. Just make sure after making a backup that you have backed up every app that you wanted.
It shows you everything in batch menu screen.
Sent from samsung vibrant
Only one other suggestion I have is do not back up system apps. Restoring system apps + data doesn't work nicely with one ROM to another. Just use backup user apps menu.

That's just it, she don't want to lose the data, that's my problem

Data of system apps?

Data from apps downloaded from the market

When you do backups, the data is also included.
When you restore apps later, choose data+app.

If you are going to MIUI, use Titanium Backup sparingly. Do not restore any system (red) apps and do not restore apps offered in the ROM. When I first went to MIUI, I restored my apps one at a time rather than use restore all apps. I didn't have an issue nor did I lose any data. Also, do a nandroid backup and I would backup all the files on the phone to your computer. This way you can move the apps to the system/app folder if things go south. I hope she enjoys MIUI, I do.
How do I move the files to the computer?? What folder is it located in? Do i need to download root explorer for this...I have to completely redo her entire phone and I plan on wiping everything and starting from scratch, I believe somehow someway something was messed up and Miui did not install properly. I want to start her over from scratch like a brand new vibrant off the showroom floor.
Hook your phone up to your PC and pull off the folder called TitaniumBackup and put it on you desktop. Once you "clean" your phone, you can put all that back on your SDcard. Pretty easy really.
titanium backup has a dropbox option now which backs everything up to your dropbox.
and unless she's using google voice, she's going to lost her text messages. similarly with call history. contacts and wifi stuff should be backed up with the google account. so, like the picture posted above, just 'backup all user apps' then after flashing the new rom 'restore all apps with data'.
Backup and restore problem Titanum Backup 8.4.0.2 PRO / Galaxy S9 Plus
Hi
I have used TB 2-3 yrs ago and it wask ok..not many problems.
No I have a problem with all backup jobs I make..all of them not are marked with these smilies but ? ( I guess smilies means OK and no error backup and "?" means some error/missing in backup
And; when I restore a OLD backup With smilies, after the restore the smilies is away/missing and this "?" have apper instead of the smilies, so it seems that TB destroy the old OK backup after it is restored.
Can this error be a fail in options? Something I have to set in options for get it to work?
Hope for answerd ( and hope this quest is posted in correct group. If not, pls tell me
Regards
Rolf
I backed up my current stock rom and flashed cm9 to taste it. That went perfectly.
Then after restoring, I noticed certain apps are broken(?).
Example:

Any advice to reduce this?
If you guys want to know which CWM versions I used then I am not exactly sure about that.
While backing up from stock rom CWM v5.0.+ and restoring from cm9 , CWM v5.5+
How did you backup and restore exactly? Out of CWM or did you do a nandroid backup/restore?
Nevertheless I recommend using titanium backup... It backups and restores also the data (for example wireless settings and other app & system settings)
Open TB, go settings/restore/restore from internal sd card

TB just for apps and settings. What if the you're not satified with the rom? Hence Nandroid.

That, I think, is good to hear. Some guy on irc said my phone memory might be corrupted. So it's not just my phone.
I guess I should also backup my apps separately.
One more question, I tried backing up an app in tb from gingerbread and while restoring in cm9, it froze. I had to force stop it, but the app did not restore. How to deal with this?

Going from GB to ICS I believe you should be restoring only the app itself, not the data. If the app still won't restore it is probably not compatible with ICS.
Dear friends;
I have a question about that stock apps being installed automatically after flashing a new rom, where is these apps located because I want to make my own apps to be installed automatically after the flash.
now I'm using backup program to do this but I prefer that auto install way.
thanks in advance

I'm talking about this
that does nothing.
that screen only comes up, when you flashed a stock ICS 4.0.3 rom without wipe. it does not actually install apps, it just scans app folders like /system/app/ and /data/app for already installed apps to integrate in the launcher. maybe it also checks compatibility with android 4. but at the moment that screen shows up, all apps are already installed.
it is just a marketing thingy to pretend to perform app migration after upgrading the OS. if you upgrade through kies and had auto-restart checked and were unable to get to recovery to perform a factory reset prior to the first boot, you will see that screen appear after the first boot "installing" all your apps. then if you reboot into recovery, factory reset the phone and reboot, you will see it only "installs" the few stock apps and all user apps are gone.
this migration, together with not wiping your phone when flashing, will make it slow and unstable over time. it is the same thing with a windows pc. of course one could upgrade the OS, say, from vista to 7, and installed programs and settings might get migrated but in the end, everybody who knows, what they are doing, will still format c: prior to installing a new OS and install the programs afterwards for them to run perfectly.
and all stock apps, that survive a factory reset, wipe are in fact system apps in /system/app
they can still disappear when flashing a new rom.
your best bet is to backup all your apps with titanium backup pro and after flashing a rom or performing a factory reset, you select batch and restore all user apps + data. that way, you can simply install 100+ apps with a few clicks, and their respective settings (scores, customizations...) will be restored as well, which would not be the case with the way you suggested.
so, not only is your way not practical, it is also next to impossible. and it would make no sense, crumming all user apps in the 512MB system partition and leaving the 2GB data partition empty.

sure I'll not put my all apps in the system/app. I made a rom and put my apps in the data/app and after flashing I got all of my applications installed and working too except some of google apps like google+ and drive. I think that screen shows us it's installing the apps not just scanning, because I searched the rom for these apps I didn't find it, so I think it's packed somewhere and I hope to find it
Hello people,
I have LG L9 P760 phone, rooted using Markolino's method, mentioned at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2190326. Android version is 4.1.2, firmware version: V20B_00 (LG's original ROM).
After a month of use, suddenly strange error is blocking any try to install any application: "Error: Insufficient storage available", so I cannot install any of applications from playstore or from .apk file. I get the same error when try to update any existing (installed) application...
I tried the wiping cache partition and Dalvik cache, with no success - problem persists
I have a lot of free space: 1.63 GB free on internal storage and 10.17 GB free on external card.
I do not know what to do. PLEASE HELP
Try a factory reset (after you make a backup, of course)

Its coz of orphan data in data folder. Just install titanium backup from play store, click on batch actions (box with tick at top right corner), scroll down to manipulate data tab, run remove orphan data, click on green tick at top right corner, let the action complete then reboot device and enjoy installing apps again

hello Jovanmal,
Tell me one thing, have you tried to install an apk manually (from file explorer) other than play store??
if you are able to install apk file manually then, I think your cache partition if full. If you cannot install apk manually then there is some issue in system files.
If you have working CWM recovery then try formatting cache partition, clear dalvik cache and fix permissions.
if all of above doesn't work then you can try the last option "FACTORY RESET" , but before resting create a backup.:good:
Hi people,
Sorry for delayed answer...
Problem is happening in both cases: when installing from playstore, and when try to install from the apk, as well.
I tried cleaning Dalvik's Cache, cache partition and fixing permissions from CWM. No success again. Also, I have done backup of contacts and messages. All other data are already on SD card. Now, I will try to do the factory reset...
You will be informed about results.
UPDATE 1: Factory reset were without desired result
I will try with installing CM 10.1
UPDATE 2: There was no problem with storage on new CM 10.1 Android, but there are issues with audio. These problems are resolved thanks to mikegapinski's patch (mentioned at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2202222).
Thank you for help

As a last ditch effort.. Clear data from play store and Google framework services.. Restart your device and then add your Google account again.. If this doesn't work then do a full wipe and flash your Roms.. If this also fails then there is a problem with your network/mobile operator..
