App for Location and Time based messaging? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone here is able to advice me as I have been searching around but cannot find exactly what I need.
I am looking for an app that will allow me to send a automated text messages daily when I reach a certain location but only in the afternoon. I take the same route to and from work everyday and my wife would like to know when I am a certain distance off on the way home but the only apps I have managed to find would send it on the way to and from work so what I need is one that is location and time range based.
Thanks in advanced,
Max

Try Tasker or Condi app.

[Q] re-arrange items/apps in "share via" list

hi
here's a little pet peeve of mine
whenever i go to share a picture, website link, etc i am presented with a *huge* list of apps that i could ever possibly use
but here's the truth - i only ever use three (maybe four) of those apps
and, just an extra bonus, those three or four are distributed all up and down that list - and yeah, the gmail icon is at the bottom! lol
is there *any* way to modify that list??
or an app that lets us mod that list??
i'm asking you guys cuz you would know
and... if anybody wants an idea for an app to build... there ya go! i'd pay 99cents (heck, probably even 1.99) for such an app!
and, while i'm asking, i might as well say what would be just killer features ---- allow us to pick the say top five apps that would always show up, and the last entry says "all" so the entire list becomes available
would be good to be able to sort the apps that show up in that list too
anyway.. just gonna throw that out there
??
no one has anything to say about this?
Shame that there are no replies, as this is also bugging me. Here's a bump for the topic.
Annoying me as well. Recently downloaded a QR app and the damn thing added TWO entries. I'd love to be able to remove everything but email, facebook, and messaging...
How can this still be an issue
I can't believe there's no way to filter the list or at least sort the list in order used.
'Intents' and MIME-types
Recently I find that I've become rater annoyed with the list for "share via", and started wondering how I might go about deleting specific items or at the very least rearrange the order in which they appear.
I've been unable to find the answer, as most threads, only consist of the question, and no answers.
I did however find out that what causes an app to appear in the "share via"-list is an 'Intents'-argument with regards to MIME-types (.jpg or .txt etc.) when coding the app.
See: (add the http yourselves, as I'm unable to, with this being my first post)
stackoverflow .com/questions/7891473/how-to-write-an-android-share-plugin
&
stackoverflow .com/questions/3553017/android-share-via-dialog
That means, that in order to remove them from the list, we would need some app, like LBE Privacy Guard, that could limit the "offending" app's 'Intents' in certain regards.
However I've been unable to find anyone that seems to know which file to tweak in order to rearrange the order in which they appear.
I doubt this helps anyone very much, but it may just lead someone on the right path to maybe coming up with a fix for this.
Try 'Andmade Share' from the market, seems like it would be what you're after.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5hbmRtYWRlc29mdC5zaGFyZSJd
or
share customizer
Play link
Feature request added at code.google 2012-01-25
It would appear that a feature request has been put in at code.google at 2012-01-25
(Again add the http-part yourselves)
code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24741
While we are waiting for this "obvious" feature, the above reply's seem to offer what I'm asking for, at least in an app, though it ought to be built in...
Thx a lot itscro & biopsin
EDIT: I think I'll pass on the Share Customizer, with all the funky (chinese?) writing, and dec. 2011 latest update.
Andmade Share however looks like a winner, and I like the fact, that it doesn't require any permissions...
Awesome. Andmade Share seems to do the trick. Love it when old threads are brought back to life and solve a problem.

Maybe not right now, but give it time, JB isn't exactly widespread just yet.

[Q] Android Notifications sent to Touchpad?

Not sure if this has been asked yet, searching didn't give me any results anyway - but apologies if its been asked.
HP Touchpad + HP Pre3 connect and the tablet can be used to read text messages etc along with a few other features
So, I was wondering if anyone has fiddled with trying to get Android to connect to WebOS for SMS/Missed call alerts?
closest thing I can think of right now would be using Phone Portal to connect your Motorola device. It uses WiFi and the browser.
Wish there was a way to do that.
Have you tried DeskSMS? It sends your SMS's to your Gmail.
Might be any good?

Nice one! I think that could be a viable option until someone figures out how to either make an app for android/webos to do it, or something more advanced.
I was just about to post this, theoretically it shouldn't be impossible to achieve although I'm far from an expert in the area (read: not an expert at all). I'd happily donate to any developers which could create a patch for it, as I'm sure would many other touchpad owners.

I was reading somewhere else about this, Someones looking to transfer by bluetooth, as any other option currently would no be viable apparently

Yep, I'm expecting a bluetooth app for it.
Must admit i'm annoyed with how restricted the feature is - i mean the car, tv, and pc can all get text alerts from the phone. (Actually that's a lie, the car stopped getting text messages when i went to android)
So i'm sure its doable, its just a matter of getting a dev interested in doing it - unfortunately I wouldn't know where to start.

[Q] Alternative to OGWhatsapp. Are these safe?

Hi
I'm a few days away from my OGWhatsapp app expiring and am desperate to find an alternative as I travel constantly between countries and having two active whatsapp accounts on my phone is an invaluable part of my life.
I've stumbled across some alternatives from this site:
http://faresandroid.blogspot.com.es/2015/01/4.html
Namely, i'm looking at ENWhatsapp and SAWhatsapp. I'm wondering whether these apks are ok as I fear installing any sort of malware or SMS trojan on my Samsung S4 Mini Duos i9192.
Many thanks
I use this one and think it is perfect, no isues in months. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2339647
Thanks. Does it notify you of received messages from both accounts instantly or do you need to switch between accounts to pick up the messages?
Use this xxwhatsapp
https://www.dropbox.com/s/bwqhldcwrdx350w/xxWhatsApp1.15-1.apk?dl=0
It's base on Ogwhatsapp mode last version. But it's still working. It's modified in order to not to be detected by the expiration of the 472 whatsapp server base.
Thanks MuD-GMZ. That seems to work well. Only thing is that I have to switch between the two accounts manually to see if i've received messages. A little bit annoying.
ppsa, is xxWhatsapp safe? I get the same pre-installation access warnings as SAWhatsapp and ENWhatsapp. What particularly worries me is the access the app has to sending and receiving SMS's (see attached screenshot). Not sure this if this normal though considering that I guess the app needs a whatsapp verification code via sms to activate it.
What do you think?
Many thanks!

Exactly. That's why I want to know if any of the other unofficial whatsapps are safe so that i can have two whatsapps active at the same time
In the end I tried ENWhatsapp + other variants and none of them seem to work. I get an error during the installation process that oddly states that '"the app expired on May 18th 2060"!!
I am, though, using a Playstore app called Disa Beta:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.disa&hl=en
It has a strange UI but it allows me to do exactly what I was looking for: have 2 whatsapp accounts simultaneously active on my dual sim phone.
I've used it, but it's not as friendly to use
It works again? Thanks.

New Touch user comments and questions.

I just got my Meizu MX4 and find several things which irritate me, was wondering if I can make suggestions for updates somewhere? Here are a few examples:
How do I get temp in C, with Display Language US English?
NearBy took an entire day to finally figure out where I live, although location is turned on and I tried to show it where I am.
Still new, more to follow if this is the place.

As far as I know there is a bug report for this and the developers are working on it. Let's see if the next update fixes the issue.
Thank you for the response Nikwen,
The weather app is automatically the Weather Channel, the only setting possible is location on or off. I had expected it to be there.
I'll keep my eye open for the fix to my other comment and also for additional things to talk about. I'm essentially very satisfied with the user experience and am certain that once apps and scopes begin showing up in numbers Ubuntu will be a viable alternative to the others on the market.
I assume I can continue to bring up problems I find here.
Thanks again
O
Found the next thing, although it's probably known. In camera I can't zoom. The zoom - + show, but nothing happens.
So, I found that I can change the weather app to celsius, but it doesn't work in the weather channel and it's what's used in NearBy with F.
I also found that the Amazon app goes automatically to Amazon.co.uk, but I live in Germany, I want .de, but how?
Next, I browsed Google.com, it sent me to Google.de, what else? I didn't want that, but it's impossible to get to complete English. The Google page is English, but when I touch settings, I land in a German page.
Those are my newest grumps, I'll keep looking.
TY for listening!
O
WiFi hotspot would also be nice, though I understand the OS is new and time will bring new features.

It should be out in September or maybe later this month if we're lucky !
TY antole, that's welcome info. This morning I got an update, since then I get no notifications from gmail. Is that normal or do I need to make a setting? Another thing, Near By has disappeared, so I no longer see F not certain if that's good or bad atm.
I'm just enjoying playing with my new toy and thank all devs for the hard work amnd for putting up with my problems.
O
I haven't even tried the Gmail app sorry
My Gmail account is configured with Dekko
I didn't get any update this morning, was the update for the Gmail app ?
I've been running on OTA-5 for approximately two weeks now and I've had no issue with The Weather Channel displaying temperature in C but I live in France so that seems normal
My NearBy scope hasn't gone anywhere either ;p

The update was for Nexus devices only as the messaging issue they fixed didn't appear on other devices.
Back with more! Sorry to say I was overwelmed by the amount of work needed on OT and didn't want to sound like I was putting it down, so I stopped writing. Most are small, wish I could this or that. I found one today though which I had to ask about.
I tried to upload files to my P today, win7 couldn't do it so I tried Ubuntu desktop, 14.04 which couldn't mount my phone. Uh oh, what now? I can't find a setting anywhere which helps. Any advice would be appreciated.
Oh and the update I assume was somethsomething to get my new phone up to the current version. I must have removed Near By by accident, I have it back now, still in F. Must be the language, custom I live in germany but us us english.
Ty for the help!
O
If you cannot mount your phone, you can always enable ssh and use sftp to transfer files. Usual mounting should work though.
(If it still doesn't, you could try installing ADB on your computer. It might help.)
Thanks for your help Nik,
I figured it out, I needed to get into Developer Mode in order to get USB to work. Now I'm in, but have the next problem. I can only see the Home directories, but I want to download the files in the .local/share but I have no idea how to get there. On my MX4 I've gotten to the folder I want using File Manager, but how do I get there from my PC? Or more specifically, how do I download the files stored there?
O
Yeah, hotspot is here! Haven't had time to test it yet, but I love to watch UT develop.
Still hoping for a tip on getting to my files from a PC. I understand it's a kinda noobish question, but until now I've only fixed problems as they arrise in Ubuntu, haven't had time for it. Now I've started and don't know where to search for help.
And the potshot works great. Saw Cantata Nil, looks interesting, but having a problem finding servers, or do I have to set up my own server?
Thanx
O
Stupid auto correct, I meant hotspot and Nik.
I've finally found AskUbuntu, so I'm working on finding my own answers.

is it possible to get acoustic tasker notifications during LG G5 screen is off

from time to time, the LG G5 lost his GSM signal. I had tried different apps for giving a acoustic notification in this case.
No chance! Nothing works! Now i tried Tasker app with a script. But unfortunately, there is no notification available until screen is on!
Tasker seems to be paused if screen is off. I tried all modifications like protection against power optimization a.s.o.
Do someone know a way to trigger this circumstance successful? Which script or app or setting will be able to do that?
Suggestions are welcome!
BTW: all apps are successful working on a Honor 7 So it seems to be a problem on LG devices.

ok, tasker is gone, hello macrodroid.
After some tries, i hope, i have found a solution. Calender dates seems to work. Every hour 4 tries. 15;30;45:00 Every 15 minutes MD check the MCC value and compared it with a test string. If the result is "MCC UNKNOWN", the time was written into a log file.
Will do some more tries to validate my results. now.
If somebody has a better solution, please explain.

The developer is a cool dude for Macrodroid. Email him and he will definitely help you. There's also a built in thread in app you could check out. Also built in templates in app aka user submitted tasks you could check out.
That app is way better then tasker and people are starting make to the switch. Better UI, less complicated, better support, etc.

And the best, tasker plugins work with MD too!:good:
But "UndeadCretin" has no G5, so i can’t check my problem.
