My dad's Xperia U used to last around 4-5 days with a bit of Wi-Fi, 40% brightness and a call a day. Battery would go down to 15-20%.
Now as you unplug the charger it goes from 100% to 96% instantly. After using it for half a second the battery went down to 93%. Wi-Fi is off, brightness is set to 30% and Auto-Sync is OFF. What do I do? It's not rooted and it's running Stock Gingerbread 2.3.7
Quick replies will be appreciated.
Additional Info: The phone is under warranty and it was purchased about 2 months ago.
Try calibrate the battery

It has nothing to do with dev support......
To the point now.....
Have you charged it till our showed charged and then disconnected or you waited for another half an hour and then disconnected.....
Try charging with fone switched off till it's fully charged plus half an hour more....
After you find this drop in battery did you restarted your fone????

I charged it to 100% while the phone was on, plus about 20-30 minutes more. I unplugged it and the battery went down to 96% instantly. Whereas it used to stay on 100% for about a day. I've restarted the phone recently but no difference. I'll try charging it when its off.

In my opinion its good to send it to repair center mate, it can be a battery problem.
same thing happened on my Samsung Galaxy Y, so i disregarded battery full indication, when battery showed full i restarted. left to charge and did it again if problem persisted. problem disappeared gradually.
Thank you everyone!

have all the time wifi on
Question
Hi to all
My xperia u does something quite weird. I can't get my battery to last more than one day. I tried different roms, kernels with governors and my battery seems to drain and the main consumer is my screen _ about 65 % while any other process doesn't pass over 15%. Has anybody conflicted with this problem?
How do I get it fixed? Do I need to buy another battery?
PS: I don't have warranty hence the unlocked bootloader

Decrease your brightness and turn of Mobile Bravia Engine if you don't need it. I have three Xperia U's in my house and two of them used to have the problem. Turned the brightness down to 30% and it resolved it. Also I charge it to 100% and kill it down to complete 0% by heavy usage. Try this. Works with laptops and phones.

Only 3.30 hours?
I actually had 6 hours and 20 minutes yesterday but i forgot to take a screenshot before i charged the device. I will take one next time
But yeah, i am usually hitting at least 5 hours per charge.
How could that be? I even turn off my gps via wifi and set screen brightness to minimum auto. My god...

I recharged the phone, I no longer have that information, but since the last full charge here are the statistics, Screen time is 2 hours and 6 min:

The light normally turns green when it is around 90 - 95% charged. It is just to let you know that it is almost charged.

I am not sure.
I have brightness set to about 50 - 60%. Mixture of wifi and 3g, mostly wifi.
Gmail and auto sync on. Stamina mode ON.
I have been hitting 5 hours every time and sometimes more. I will say though, it took my battery a good 5 - 10 charges before the capacity improved a lot. To begin with, stamina mode would say around 1 day and 12 hours battery remaining. Now it says sometimes 11 days remaining. This shows me that you need to give the device a good few charges before the battery will work at its fullest capacity.

I'm on fourth one and see little improvements since first cycle. Thanks for the info. That's pretty much awesome battery. So i don't have to switch to butterfly s for bigger battery

How do you do the full cycles?, do you allow the phone to turn off by itself (1% battery left) and then fully charge to 100%?

Yeah, I just let it drain until it switches off and then charge it again.
I would do this for the first week then after that, just make sure i keep the battery topped up when im near a charger.
The charging is super fast though which is 1 thing i love. After owning an HTC One which was painfully slow to charge, the Z Ultra is a revelation haha

Yeah maybe give it a little time.
I have absolutely no complaints with the battery life. A minimum of 5 hours screen on time is a lot and more than enough to make it through a full day.
I can see a lot of people who currently own a nexus 4, Galaxy S3 etc, if they decide to switch to this will be blown away by the battery life.
After 1 day of Full Usage
After 13 hours since the phone was removed from the charger I still have 1% of battery left. I was able to get 9 hours of Screen Time, pretty impressive.

That's impressive but.. there's no apps seen on the list which suggests you did nothing with it with screen on for 9hrs
Hey guys so the title says It all really, over night I can lose up to 10% which isn't normal I know
If I charge my phone up and use it straight I'll get about 5.5 hours out of It ( screen on time ) but if I don't use it to intensively it'll be about 4.5 which doesn't make sense
Sometimes when I reboot the device it goes down by a few percent as well, anybody had this issue?

Are you using STAMINA mode?
That's strange. Do you have a lot of IM apps and widgets/apps that updates in the background? As you probably know by now, you shouldn't see more than 1-2% drop in battery in 7-8 hours if you don't touch it. I'm on GPe now that doesn't have the fancy battery saving features, and i'm getting very good battery life. It's currently at 70% after 10 hours on and 2 h 30 min screentime.
It's probably something that's going rouge in the background, but check your apps that updates automatically.
Same as me
I lose up to 15% overnight
I have Line / Weather widget / Twitter / Facebook / and more
I did not turn on Stamina mode

Nowp. Got Stamina mode on, with only 2 exceptions: email + weChat, and also see a 10% drop each night.
I assume the problem is that Wifi or Data connection do not get disabled in stamina mode. You expect them to be disabled, until a request comes from the programs for a "poll event", reactivated, task finished, and then disabled again. But from what i can tell, the connections stay live.
Have you try juice defender. I use it better then stamina. I only have home page and none live wall paper and I only get 1 to 1.1/2% loss all night from 100% to 99 or 98 in the morning

I have noticed this once or twice before, last culprit was google keyboard in about 8h overnight it was almost always awake (about 50%), almost 2h of cpu time, used near 400meg of data - this was in SlimRom
Last night I had 81% battery before I went to sleep at 10:00. I then put my Xperia Z Ultra in Stamina mode. At 6:05 (8 hours 5 minutes) after my battery dropped to 80%
Therefore I only lost 1% overnight which is excellent.
Damn. Thought i was getting decent battery life (currently at 1d 6h on, 5h 25m screentime), but the way you're going you might reach 7 hours screentime on one charge...
And the cp12 isn't currently available where I'm at. Bummer.

Those battery calibration apps are a complete farce IMHO, modern batteries don't have their own internal memory like the old ones did, the best calibration you can do is a full recycle.

Yep. Also had a out of sync battery. Fully loaded ( green light ), it still showed 97% on the meter. So i drained the battery down to 1%, charged up to 100%, and voila ... Battery indicated correctly 100%, and has been correct every time.

just a reminder that the LED turns green at ~90% not fully charged
If you are in an area with very poor cellular reception and your cellular radios are on this can happen. It would help if you would post some screenshots of your battery usage in different scenarios; otherwise we can't help you too much
You could have a transistor leaking current or a short somewhere inside the device. Try a factory reset if you've exhausted all other options and if it persists contact Sony.
Today I started to use my xperia z ultra at 8.30 AM and after 4.5 hourse (at 12.5 PM) the battery lost its all percentage. And phone shutdown automatically due to drain all battery power! Is it norlam for xperia z ultra?

Then yes i think it is normal. If you dimm your screen you might get an extra hour but more than 5 hours screen on time while surfing is pretty good on most phones with large screens.
I have a problem with my Xperia Z2
Normally the estimated battery time is of 2 days or 1 day and a half with stamina mode, but now it shows 19/15 hours of estimated battery time, it is normal? Or how can I fix this, I feel that the battery life has decreased

Turn off 'smart backlight control', if u switched it on, it makes a hude difference on battery life, atleast in my case it did! Earlier my phone use to last almost a complete day on heavy usage and after switching that thing on, i had to charge it twice a day!
