[Q] Can SOL25 use CDMA2000 and Enable ART? - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I want to buy an SOL25(au) from Japan. I googled around, some says that it is capable to use CDMA2000 network after unlocking, some says not.
The problem is how to unlock an SOL25 and is it possible to use CDMA2000?
BTW., Sony seems not open the ART option for Z series, Is it possible to enable it?
Thanks in advance.

Not sure about the first part but all Generic Xperias are able to use global bands
And for the second part ART is didabled because Art runtime is in pre-alpha stage hence why its not recomended to use and also why sony removed, Xperia Firmware cant run on art without ReWriting alot of it

SE Plan to open Bootloader, check it out

Sony Ericsson plans to open the bootloader across the new range of Xperia Android smartphones. Whilst we wait for Sony Ericsson to provide the official details on how to do this, we thought we’d provide a quick guide on how to find out if your handset has the capability to have its bootloader unlocked.

..................as can be seen, this is not applicable to any of the older models like our minis for instance, however sad it might be!
perhaps we just need one people to use the opened bootloader, then all developer will use is as reference.
Hope so

[Q] e10a from 2.1(stock) to MiniCM7 (for Ant+) - your assistance requested

Need help with a x10 mini (e10a) from Rogers in Canada. Seems this is about the worst kind to work with but...
What I am trying to do is get this device to be used with my Ant+ heart monitor and other sensors. The version that it upgrades to via automatic upgrade is 2.0.1.A.47 which is not even found in the wiki stock ROM list and not compatible with Ant. Ideally getting to 2.3 with wifi hot spot would be nice too.
From what I gather after about 5 hours worth of reading the steps are:
1. Root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682&page=2
2. Unlock boot loader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
3. Flash 2.1.1.A.0.6 firmware (and M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015 base band - do they come together?)
- can't seem to find these anywhere. A link anyone? Does the x10 or the x8 version work?
4. Modify the build.prop so 3g works: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15902809#post15902809
5. Flash miniCM7: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068553
First off, does this sound right? Have I missed anything? Is the order right?
Secondly, after trying both Z4root and superoneclick (a couple of versions, and all exploit options in each version) I can't get this thing to root. The error I get to with S1C is:
After answer yes to "Automatic version detection failed - Is your version 2.0 or higher?" the result is:
"Getting manufacturer...
startIndex cannot be larger than length of string.
Parameter name: startIndex
FAILED"
Suggestions would be appreciated! I should note I have done some ROM updates to other Android phones, but am far from an expert (no coding capability). And have noticed each phone seems to be a bit different. This one seems to be a bit more difficult than others. Help would be appreciated.
Or, anyone want to sell me their X10 mini with working Ant+?
Cheers.

Much appreciated ChavitoArg.
I did see your post on my search, but given I only speak English (bad I know) and didn't understand the conversation so I steered clear of it.
I will give this a try.
Thanks!
So the update is that yes thank you sir I was able to get your firmware flashed to the device. Flashtool worked great. Much appreciate your efforts and reply.
But at this point I tested the Ant+ functionality (my number 1 goal) and unfortunately while this version of the firmware is said to have ant+ support, and now the apps I have been testing with (my tracks and edomondo) at least see there is an ant+ sensor, both don't work. My tracks crashes and edomondo just goes into an eternal search for the sensors. I'm assuming this means a problem with the ant+ implementation in the firmware software from stock. I heard of problems like this.
If ant+ worked I would likely just stay here, but it doesn't so I'm pressing on try to root, unlock BL and flash miniCM7.
So the next step would be to use flashtool to root as recommended. Problem is it doesn't give that option (root tool greyed out). Have tried connecting, and reconnecting with no luck. Unknown sources and USB debugging are on). Have also tried oneclickagain, and same problem as before.
SO some progress, but could still use some help. Anyone?
Cheers.
Update...
As it turns out after a little more reading and testing the firmware here from ChavitoArg DOES support ant+.
It seems you need to add the Ant Radio Service (comes up in an android market search) and then ant+ apps work. Well at least most of them (Endomondo, Sporty Pal, ANT+ Bike Display Demo) My Tracks still crashes, but that now looks like a My Tracks problem.
So for now I am sticking with Android 2.1 and working Ant+ which was my main goal.
Still curious why I can't root this thing after trying 4 different solutions and 10 attempts. Have rooted 5+ other android phones with no issues. If anyone has any ideas I'm open to trying them.
Would eventually like to get this to at least 2.2 with wifi hotspot, but need past root it to get any farther.
Thanks again ChavitoArg, your firmware rocks.

Have you tryied Flashtool 2.9.1 ? it has One click root option, is the best and easiest way to root.
Check the inbox, i sent you the link to download. I think the ant+ NATIVE support is provided by the rom MiniCM 2.1.3 and nAa kernel v5, you shoul try it. has NATIVE wifi hotspot too

Moto Z Force Single SIM --> Dual SIM + few tweaks. Possible with stock ROM?

Not new to the Moto Z Force lineup, but am new to rooting/bootloader unlocking since I have a locked down XT1650-01 Moto Z Force Droid with Verizon But since I need a dual SIM phone I've reached out to the XT1650-03 model. Here's what I'm trying to do....
Convert single SIM -03 to a Dual SIM -03 unit. Already found this link to help with that: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z/how-to/guide-to-enable-dualsim-singlesim-t3594529
Run dual SIMs + SD card. Already found some nifty ways to accomplish that.
Enable the hotspot/tether feature with my unlimited plan since Verizon has it disabled on the -01 device via a subscription check.
Aside from that, I'm looking to keep a very close to stock-ish experience on my phone.
Here's where I have questions:
Will the Verizon Hotspot Subscription Check still run on the new -03 model? Do I need to change anything to get this to work?
Can I modify the stock Android ROM to get dual SIM + hotspot feature to work? Or would it be easier to flash someone's already developed ROM onto the phone?
Thanks in advance for the help. I'd be happy to send a pizza someones way for their help

VoLTE with Z5C and LOS?

Hi all,
I'm considering to get a Z5C, but I need VoLTE working. I know that VoLTE is working with the stock ROM, but how about Lineage OS or other custom ROMs? Does anyone have hands-on experience with that? Any suggestions much appreciated!
Cheers,
r.
VoLTE is definitely not working on any LineageOS ROM, no matter what version you are using.
Ok, thanks for this info. Here's two more questions:
1. You wrote "LineageOS" - do you know of any other Custom ROM where VoLTE is working?
2. How about VoWLAN aka Wifi Calling: Will it work with custom ROMs?
Thanks.
r.
1. No. My guessing is, that some IMS related stuff is missing. We (unofficial LineageOS devs) have tried it, but we failed. The normal telephony function has been compromised.
2. I don't think so (see above).
I'm sorry.
Ok - thanks for your efforts anyway!
VoLTE works mostly only with T-mobile firmware.... but you have to flash this firmware... stock z5c dont support this.... if you flash it "with your country local operator firmware"..... will VoLTE work...100% T- mobile speciallity....
You can flash it by yourself, but be sure you dont have phone with unlocked bootloader.... if you make it after, you loose IMEI and mobile is 4 parts only....
Thanks for that info and the warning! Did you try it yourself with LOS? I have already unlocked the boot loader to ...well, install LOS. But afaik it is possible to lock it again using flashtool. Is that what you did?
I have had many Z5 compacts.... first was with unlocked bootloader.... I did know nothing before.... so I have tried flash it..... not finished, error.... started phone, No IMEI at all.... only Wifi worked No Simcard read, so I used it 4 parts - crashed display.... and for study how to dissassamble all. It´s nice when you know how to dissassamble hole Z5 compact and reassamble new one
Since then I buy only Z5 compacts with factory locked bootloader, OEM locked, from normal users....VIRGIN phones they are perfect 2 flash.... also i have had one piece, there was Lineage os before to anroid 7.1.1 returned, opened bootloader... and it has non functional cameras and flash.... no hardware problem, it was because of unlocked bootloader and this Lineage OS. Somebody bought it from me to use it as a bike navigation
I have relocked the bootloader via Flashtool... but cameras were still kaput 4 ever.
Installing Lineage OS or unlocking bootloader can (or relocking bootloader after - I dont know) destroy cameras and flash lighter..... on 7.1.1 android. It will not destroy cameras on android 9. Fx sony XZ1 compacts..... but you will still loose some functions of cameras + codecs and so on.
If you do so, there is no way to fix it back....
Unlocking the bootloader no longer breaks the camera on Sony Xperia devices running Android Pie
Unlocking the bootloader of Sony Xperia devices running Android Pie no longer totally breaks the camera like before, but not every feature will work still.

Does using a country-specific firmware unlock VoLTE capability?

As per Sony support articles, the Sony Xperia Z2 natively supports VoLTE. However, the carrier must have VoLTE support in order for the option to be visible from settings. If it's not visible, I should contact my carrier for additional support. I contacted my carrier yesterday and told me that they support VoLTE right from the very beginning (of their launch). They asked what chipset the phone has (which is a Snapdragon 801). They then asked me to enter the "4636" code on the dialer to check if VoLTE provisioned flag is enabled - and it is by default. Since it's on and the option is still not available, they asked me to contact the phone's manufacturer for a software update to fix it. I tried reaching support through phone and online chat. Phone - no one's answering. Live chat - "Offline/Busy" all day.

VoLTE for Xperia Z & Xperia X series.
Hi Guys, After many days of search and trials I have managed to enable VoLTE in Xperia Z2 & Z3 in Android 6.0.1. But this Method should work on Newer Z & X series models(till 2018). Only For Xperia Z & X series Your carrier must support VoLTE...

The option can be forced to be visible by modifying build.prop and config.prop found in /system folder. The thing is, it requires root, and rooting requires an unlocked bootloader. Unlocking BL will remove my DRM keys. To backup DRM keys, your phone still has to be rooted.
I saw that my phone's firmware is a "GLOBAL-LTE_23.5.A.1.291" and at the same time, it is identified as "1281-1985_R3D" which is a Customized Russian firmware. Service Menu reveals that it is currently using "amss_fsg_sirius_tar.mbn" which I believe doesn't have VoLTE support because when you navigate through the system folder, you will see 2 MBN files: "amss_fsg_sirius_vf_germany_volte_trials_tar.mbn" and "amss_fsg_sirius_volte_base_operator_trials_tar.mbn" - both of which has VoLTE on their labels.
My question now is: If I want to have VoLTE option on this phone (without rooting), what firmware should I use? Should I use (Germany) Vodafone's firmware (or will that make my phone SIM-locked)? I'm not sure what kind of firmware that uses amss_fsg_sirius_volte_base_operator_trials_tar.mbn.
By the way, I'm using IgorEisberg's Software, XperiFirm
