Custom Kernels - AT&T HTC One (M8)

Hey I was wondering if anyone knew if we had any good kernel devs on our forums? Stock is great and all, I would just like to see some custom ones so we have the freedom to overclock, underclock, change voltages, have fast charging, etc. Maybe we can get @ak or @barome over here to cook something up?
Also, I read in a thread here in the Q&A forum that the AT&T variant can also flash T-mobile ROM's. If that's true, will that also work for kernels?

Oh man, that blows. I didn't even have the money to buy myself an M8, I had to trade my G3 for it. ?
You can't whip something up real quick for us M8 users? I think you might see a bit more donations from us (don't get me wrong, I know you don't ask for them but it wouldn't hurt receive them either).

I use elementalx kernel you can get it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2705613

Using it now and it's running buttery smooth and so far, battery life is good. Thank you so much. This kernel has everything I was looking for. Is this the only kernel you know of that's custom for our M8?

This rom looks insane!!!

This Omega rom looks like it would be amazing!!! Has the most customization and stock look but can mod the sh+t out of it within the simplistic framework app...Ive been trying to get scott and beans to check out this framework and there looking into it...heres the link to the rom on in international note2 thread...my question is "CAN ANYONE PORT THIS OVER TO OUR VERIZON NOTE 2?!?!?!" thanks guys!!!

Ok, I just looked at it again and that ROM is just sick. Talk about a change log. Have you contacted the Dev about supporting the Verizon carrier apn, I mean Scott is using the GN2 international 4.1.2 code and added carrier support via Aroma so it begs the question could he do something similar?
Omega Rom is a well known/supported rom. I've seen a TON of people flocking to that rom on the International Galaxy SIII. I don't think the team has ever done a US Carrier version. A port would be nice though!

I also pm'd the dev, from his reply it seems its not in the cards at this time. I have neither the knowledge of ROM development or the vaguest clue how to do it, perhaps someone who does could see about making a port with the Omega teams permission or help. It would certainly be cool to have support in the US for it.
Scott's works is equally impressive in its own right, and from the discussions there its possible some of the features could end up in Scott's work at some point which would be cool. Though Scott is more about clean, stable and high performing "stock" ROM which is why I like his work. Not interested in losing what the Note 2 has to offer.
This had to be the best rom on the note 2... so many options.I'm sure someone knows how to port this. Just need the permission from the omega team.

huh.. if someone wants to try this ROM I thought Scott released a patch for 7100 based ROM's in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055218
So long as a the ROM doesn't include a recovery or boot image you should be fine... Just make sure you double check the install script is writing to the correct mount points...
I would check and test for you but I am at work ATM and have the kids tonight...

yea you might need to add a few more files for the radios.. should really try and diff a 7100 and 7105 stock ROM to see exactly what is different. if it more than just lib's and something in the framework we might be sh!t out of luck.. My guess is though that the needed changes in the framework are applied to all the bases that Samsung uses though... Like I said I wouldnt be able to look at it until sometime later in the week eitherway.

Glad to see you here kejar31, I ran a lot of your ROM work in the past and really enjoyed it. So many devices in 2012, but the Note 2 should hold me for a while or at least until the Note 3 comes along, but with our luck Verizon won't pick it up.

Is anyone working on AOSP for AT&T?

I'd love to run AOSP on my X+ but so far its only for Inter. Is anyone developing it for the AT&T model?

I thought he was working on a CM 10 or 10.1 based ROM
Once the base work is handled, porting between source-based roms should generally be quite straightforward.

Most I've had to worry about is changing all the European units/measurements/dates to be more American.
Here's a checklist:
Set "English (United Kingdom)" to "English (United States)"
In weather, change Celsius to Fahrenheit
In date and time, disable military time
In date and time, set the date from DD/MM/YYYY to MM/DD/YYYY

I've been a long time sprint customer
And I recently switched over to AT&T. The one thing I would definitely admit missing is the guys over at the Sprint development especially on the HTC front.
I'm new to AT&T and I sure hope they have some talented Dev on here because they did on the Sprint side.

ARHD 6.1 added AT&T specific options in Aroma, users have reported improved LTE speeds after the update. I was seeing ok LTE speeds but low signal bars on prior to the update, it definitely improved the bar display but not sure about the speeds because I don't have that much data to compare it to.
My LTE speeds are excellent though:

And then they blame me for it when the information is right in front of their face. Until you can do that. You really have no room to talk dude. Either way. Just keep contributing the highschool "behind the back" talk to start the drama here in development website. That really makes a ton of sense. :good: :highfive:

Kernel devs

There seems to be a huge lack of kernel devs on the LG g2. Do we have any other kernel Devs outside of the one in Original development? I would really love to have undervolting capabilities for the verizon stock rom, but the only kernel dev we have doesn't develop for the vzw variant.

how could we bring more kernel devs to our phone? someone knows devs and could ask them? maybe we should ask faux?
wootever`s kernel is already nice, but there is a problem with camera on stock and aosp/cm.
i hope we will see more kernels in future!

Faux only makes kernels for devices he owns. He doesn't own the G2, and i presume he will only buy the phone it if he gets enough donations to be able to do so. I think that if enough people here are each willing to donate lets say 10-25 dollar, we could make it happen. Because the N5 internals are almost identical to the G2 he would not have much extra work at hand, I think.
I will work on kernel once I finish up fixing repos to get g2 building on kitkat. patience if i have time i'll fixup the kernel with some added features.
"We need more Kernel Dev's in here. We need more Kernel Dev's in here. There's too many ROM Devs too many devs" as Skepta would say.

Ok, so I just came across a great thread when browsing through the One forums on XDA. It looks as though the ability to run multiple ROMs of your choice is already a reality, using MultiROM. BUT if you do decide to go through with this, make sure you make a full backup/nandroid of your current ROM, especially if attempting to run a 4.4 ROM, as there are still some questions as to it working correctly, in relation to the user's chosen ROM's updater script wiping the wrong areas and overwriting the current ROM. Also, from what I've read (to page 15, and then jumping forward to the last 2 pages), it appears as though you have to run a Sense ROM as your primary ROM, only IF you want to switch between Sense and non-Sense based ROMs.
Read for yourselves though and take caution if you decide to move forward with using MultiROM. It definitely looks promising!

Did you check out the link to the thread I posted above? It's already possible with MultiROM, but you just have to be careful and make a nandroid before flashing, which is pretty much the same with any ROM, and will probably be with MoDaCo.SWITCH V2 as well.
