Back on the 25th, Superbass311 said, "Yes but after you pimp out your status bar and nav bar and uninstall the 4 bloatware apps on our HAM2 what else is there? ". I was wondering if there was an answer as I'm on the verge of initiating the whole unlock/root process. Also, what is the purpose of installing the Xposed app? Thanks.

I rooted my HAM2 and put Xposed on a while ago. Xposed, as I understand it, is about as close as you're going to get to a new ROM without putting a new one on. You download the framework, then install various modules that actually do things because the framework itself doesn't do anything. So.. You can do a lot more than just changing the Status Bar and Navigation Bar. One of the things I found just the other day is xMultiWindow. It's a module that lets you have 2 apps on the screen at once, just like certain samsungs will do. There is a whole thread dedicated to Xposed and its modules here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ascend-mate2/help/xposed-modules-ones-dont-t2882275
Great, thank you! Is there a thread somewhere about how to alter the Nav bar and status bar? Thanks again for the explanation.

No need for a thread, just get GravityBox after you get Xposed.

I'm stalled at the Xposed stage. I'm not sure where or how to install it. I know it's not in the Play store. I did find Wanam Xposed. Is that the same thing? Thanks again.
Wanam is a Touchwiz (Samsung) specific modding toolkit.
Xposed is not available on the play store. You have to get the apk here and install it:http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer
To install an apk (app install file) on Android you need to go into setting>security and allow unknown sources.
As I understand it Xposed won't work unless the build.prop is edited from ro.config.hwtheme=2 to ro.config.hwtheme=0
All this info is in the Q&A area.
Thanks for the link. Can I download the Xposed file right to my HAM2 or do I need to use my PC.? Thanks.

After you download the exposed installer and give it superuser access you can install it from your phone. But it won't work with any modules until you edit the build prop as instructed.
Current phones, Ascend Mate 2, LG G3, LG G2, LG Lucid 3. Tablets, Nexus 7, LG GPad. I like the Ascend Mate 2 the best.

You may want to wait until after the update tomorrow, it could break root. Make sure you have a good back up of your stock unrooted rom. I've already helped 2 guys fix phones because they didn't.

Well like I said, it's an apk file. Apk files are android app installation files. You could download it to your PC but it'll need to get on to your HAM2 to be installed.

I don't know why people aren't making backups of the stock roms. Builds change in production and someone else's back up could brick your phone. Back up your stock roms please people?

It has been posted here, but camera and SD won't work until LG releases the kernel sources.
If the past is any indication, we'll probably see an update for the E970 in about another 2 months.
action packed e975 based on stock kit kat
Hi all,
out of curiosity, I headed down to the lg optimus G thread (e975 international) and it is loaded with action.
Many have installed the modded stock rom and testing out the kit kat released to the Korean phone.
Surely, some developers of e970 will be able to work forward or port that version to us!!
cheers
milind
We still need kernel source code for some functions to work.
There's a thread there in our forum itself for E970 KK rom ported from F180 , but like it has been mentioned earlier the Camera and SD Card won't work , because of the difference in H/W between the variants.
Lets hope its soon. There is a new version in the developers section that has the camera working but no sd card (they're working on it) that i have been using. Very snappy and great battery life.
sdcard works now....the rom is pretty solid now

That ROM really kick ass. Excellent battery life (on my E971, it seems better than the Omni and Carbon 4.4.2), Android Kitkat, and still all the LG's nice skin and addons. The o/s feels a bit more reactive than the previous ROMs I tried. Everything seems to work, even the notification LEDs.
- You need a recent CWM recovery to install it. I previously had TWM and it did not work. I got CWM-Touch from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2443041
- Then flash the zip that correspond to your phone (one for E970 with SD card port, one for E971 and E973).
- Boot, select a skin for the weather app if you need it.
- Then flash the AT&T Build.prop mod. Don't do that before the previous step.
Has at&t ever released more than one android update for any LG phone?

Well I've just downloaded global rom for snapdragon 820,and next step is to make my development environment, so I'll try porting it to Lg G5 H850. No eta but I'll try to make it work fully, and when I'm done or have a functional rom,I'll post it.
Maybe buy an xiaomi phone, Note 2 coming soon 6gig of ram, it's tempting curved edges as well.

Didn't had much time yet, but so far Ubuntu running in virtualbox, dat files from both miui rom and stock G5 are extracted. Few steps I need to do and then just need to start porting. But won't really have a lot time for it until Monday, busy with work.
Made some progress,so far system files have been replaced, now I need to edit certain files, and then it's boot.img modifying. Boot.img I'm going to do tomorrow, since it's pretty late here. And after that it's testing time, flash and see what's not working, hehe and try to fix it.

Tried although i get a TWRP error when trying to flash, could you upload your MIUI creation so i can take a look and compare ?
Well its 2:10AM now so off to bed might try another method tomorrow
If you are getting a twrp error (doesn't want to flash) usually means zip you didn't make a flashable zip. If you don't know how to do it,use some of the Android kitchens to create it,it's easy and really doesn't take too much time. Currently my zip is way to big to upload due to fact that I'm using stock lg rom as base ( hoping to get stock camera in the end, harder but possible ).
Would love to see MIUI on the G5. There was people trying for ages to port it for the G4 but had no success at all so heres hoping
Does anyone know why is there no "official" G5 miui?
any news?
Hi,
Thought i make a flashable zip for our device based on @ZaneZam 's iYTB to get YouTube without those ANNOYING ADDS....
Latest time it became tooooooo much, even minute after minute.....!
Therefore this zip.

LINK update based on 10.06.2018 (v13.22.54) : https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=746163614322270159
It's the BLACK THEMED version.
Procedure :
1. Put on extSD
2. wipe cache/dalvik
3. Flash
4. reboot (if it does not show up on first boot, REBOOT again)
5. in playstore/settings : check "no auto update" , otherwise you'll end up as before !
This zip should work when your youtube is in system/app or data/app. Both will be wiped and replaced with the new one.
Report when zip isn't working anymore. Therefore i should update the zip with the latest version.
ALL CREDITS : @ZaneZam and all others !!!!THNX!!!:good::good::good:
ENJOY !
don't just HIT&RUN....there's a :good: button for some reason
ps : this should normally work for ALL VERSIONS
What is the difference to ZaneZam ???
The original one works perfect ???
Glad to see this. I've tried the original installer with the black YT but it always failed (using the place in download directory method). Installation of the non-themed version worked fine. Could've just renamed the black version to match but didn't feel like it.
Kudos to you for this.

No issues my friend, relax
It's just a twrp zip for our flashaholic-souls :cyclops:
And it's a bit less handling than the universal installer or the manual method...you don't have to rename, set permissions, or whatever you have to do in the OP from iYTB. My method : just download and flash and you know it'll be ok !
I just molded it a bit for the A7 that's all :good:

IYTB (vanced magisk?) on Oreo rom is able to have a floating window on top of other apps you use ate the same time, and it got a new minimize style.Only the floating window feature is a big ++ for me.I prefer IYTB as system app,and not a magisk module.

I'm furious, i bought Honor View 10 for modding, because Honor had to give the phone to many developers for expand the modding on their devices. Then first Huawei stop the possibility to unlock bootloader and now stop the possibility to have root also?
It's incredible, Huawei/Honor should repay who bought the device before their decision to stop the modding scene.
Honor clearly didnt work closely with Huawei when it comes to that modding/rooting related stuff
after Honor dev program they locked bl's for good, and now trying to prevent ROOT by adding system app to check for Root then force remove it or stop it
hopefully we can find a work around it :\

But this is not fair, many of us bought a huawei device for modding, and now we are stucked with no options to reclaim anyting, Honor View 10 in my case has cost me around of 500€, took time for me to get this money (part time job, studing, and living alone), it's hard for me to believe that the reply of Huawei is deal with it, good luck next time loser.
This tweet was pertaining to a Chinese variant. @MishaalRahman with XDA is investigating, as there is no official word if this sort of update is coming to other regions or even the US. This may have been done by mistake as well.
There have been other Chinese variants that have received a "patch1" type update, but has been confirmed those other updates are bug fixes and are not rooted related.
I'm sure XDA will make a write up to clarify if/when there is more info

Your complaints will do absolutely nothing on XDA ... contact your local Huawei dealership or post pubically on their social media pages like Facebook or Twitter. Only if it's made public (by enough people) will there be even the slightest chance of them changing their @&%$§!* new policies.

The original person who reported on this new "patch1" update to the ramdisk is still testing to see whether it's an intentional feature to block root, or if Magisk no longer working is just a side effect to ramdisk changes. We're waiting to see the results of their testing.

We don't need TWRP and we most definitely have a bunch of great roms - and they won't get abandoned any time soon.
Check the OpenKirin link in my signature ... I've been running their Resurrection Remix with Magisk for months now without any issues ... and without needing TWRP :victory:
OpenKirin has several great roms, I'm sure you'll find one that suits you too :fingers-crossed:

Ah ok, that's cool - last I heard only BKL-09 was supported. But I can't say I've been keeping up since I have the EU version anyway and never paid much attention to which rom was working on the US version
Hi all,
One of the things that was missing for me was the center clock.
The void in the middle needed to be filled so here you have a module to place the clock smack in the middle, it's not off center like previous mods, this one is as it should be.
Flashing always at your own risk, please read all instructions before flashing, module has been tested and is working on the latest android 11 BA running OOS, untested on non OOS ROM's
NOTES
-----------------
This will cause issues with android auto!
Does not work on Android 10
Confirmed working on Android 11 open beta 2
Confirmed working on Android 11 open beta 3
Confirmed working on OB4
Confirmed working on stable 11.0.2.2
Installation
-------------------
Pre-requisites
Rooted Oneplus 8 Pro
Android 11 Stable
Magisk Manager
Installation instructions
1. Download the module from here:
11.0.0 https://mega.nz/folder/OB8hXYqK#4hVILxDw-K7EKemL3FDNwQ

11.0.4.4
0 byte folder on MEGA
mega.nz
11.0.5.5
the module for 4.4 seems to be working fine for 5.5
If you have issues then disable it, reboot, re-enable then reboot and test.
11.0.6.6
2.51 MB folder on MEGA
mega.nz
11.0.7.7
Use the 0.6.6 version, it reloaded first time for me, i don't believe they changed OPSystemUI.apk so it's probably the exact same apk.
11.0.8.8
2.51 MB folder on MEGA
mega.nz
11.0.9.9
As this is only Octobers security update you can continue to use 11.0.8.8 thanks @mac796 for clarifying functionality.
11.0.10.10
Again no changes to OPSystemUI.apk so the previous release will continue to work on this version
2. Copy to your phones storage
3. Open Magisk and select the modules icon
4. Click "Install from storage"
5. Navigate to the downloaded folder and choose the zip inside.
6. Allow it to complete and then reboot.
Enjoy your center clock leave a thanks, let me know if it doesn't work and will do what we can to help.

Troubleshooting
------------------------------
Magisk module failure.
This works for any magisk module failure.
1. Power off your phone by holding the power button, then turn it back on.
2. As your phone gets to the bootloader warning screen, press and hold volume up and down and continue to hold until the phone shows the boot animation.
3. You'll boot to safe mode, simply reboot once more.
4. On next boot all your magisk modules will be disabled, remove the problematic module and re-enable the functional ones.
Original mod made by
11-11.0.2.2
@Tulsadiver & @dianoandr tested by myself, absolutely massive thanks to them for this.
11.0.4.4 and onwards made by myself, original pixel version by Tulsadiver
REQUESTS
----------------
I can maybe do requests, but they won't be a priority and if i don't have the device, you will have to provide me the files required and give me the android version you're on, OS and you'll be testing too.

Can ask pal..will be tomorrow tho.
Why don't you just update to 11. It's way better than 10 anyway.

I don't have an easy route to 11.
I'm on a Sprint\Tmo OP8.
I don't have Local Upgrade.
OTA disabled due to root and Tmo hasn't finished A11 anyway.
I'm hoping someone will make a A11 full rom to flash via TWRP to get me there

I've been reading that thread for days and only get more confused the more I read...
I have to MSM back to stock? Then convert via fastboot? Idk... Very confusing reading it all.
Or I'm just too dense.

Lol nah it's worrying doing these things but it's not usually as hard as you think.
Get it planned out before hand, I've rebranded before, on the p20 pro and I think a few HTC devices.
You'd be hard pushed to brick a OnePlus phone tbh.
But you're right to be careful. Just make a back up first.

Yeah. I got a backup of persist.img and boot partition.

So persist and boot is fine. But you probably won't be needing any of them.
As for the rest of it, backing up via twrp is one thing but at the point there ain't a functional copy of twrp for 11.
So backing up to twrp might not be the best idea.
I got out all my pics, vids, music, synced contacts with an account (Google) or sync everything to Google (I don't mean a back up as a single image, that's your choice)
Apps I would make a titanium back up of.
Then theres pretty much nothing left.
Copy all the titanium files out, that'll serve you well when you're ready to restore.
Then head down the rebranding route..
I'm not great with changing variant but I would back up also maybe your EFS partition if that's still a thing (IMEI's) just because of the networks hold on things, I can't think of anything else you could lose out on..
I'll check out the rebranding guides and see if I can make easier sense of it for you.

Sadly some games and streaming apps like amazon prime display below the front canera....the result is a black bar just till the front camera
The notchkiller mods solved that issue but none of them working on android 11 so i was just asking if there any compatible version of the mod
Earlier netflix had this problem too but now they have solved it.

There's a feature to change screen in android 11.
Plus you have the cut out option in display.
