[Q] Themes with Monthly calendars starting with Sunday - Themer General Discussion

Using stock themes with monthly calendars (such as Chromed UI), I notice the calendars start with Monday. As a USA person, I like to see Sunday as the first day. Is there an easy way to change that?

Hi revguru,
Unlike calendar apps - we use Zooper Widget - whereby widgets are built from the ground up. In other words, there's no feature to change the formatting as of yet, but perhaps in the future we might be able to acquire a calendar-app to help you out!

"Professional" looking Titanium

Not sure if this the right thread or not.
Titanium looks to be the newest and coolest thing in terms of ROM development but it doesn't seem very good for business users.
Wondering if anyone's figured their Titanium screen to a business-friendly feel. If so, care to share screenshots and info?
I'm not asking about which ROM is best but rather how did you configure your Titanium.
Not sure how you don't think it is "business worthy"
I think it is much more "professional" looking than Manilla... Then again, I've always loved the Zune interface.

What I love about TF3D is the great calendar at a glance. I can also see my upcoming appointments on the home screen.
The turnoff with the Titanium calendar is that I can only see one appointment at a time. I had to keep swiping through to view events for the day.

I too have hoped for some productivity enhancements to Titanium like seeing more appts/tasks, etc at a glance without opening the calendar. It looks like I will be just going back to TF3D soon or the standard today screen with my stable of SBSH apps (once they fix Calendar and PocketBreeze for wm6.5 and hopefully an iLauncher update soon) and phoneAlarm...
i think the chome config will do that to you...

calendar widget

Anybody else upset that it doesn't come with one ? Any suggestions for alternatives?
Really depends on what info you want to see but I use Simple Calendar myself.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA Premium App
I used Simple Calendar in the past. But now I use the Today widget that comes with the phone.
I'm a big fan of the Pure Calendar, it's a pay for app.
i really like the LauncherPro calendar widget...
I like the business calendar widget, can take up a full page on the home screen if you want it to

I went and installed the TouchWiz 4.5 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061883 and it works flawlessly. It has the Calendar widget as well as some really cool features not found in TW4. I highly recommend this for someone wanting a near stock TW experience with some really functional tweaks.

+1 for the business calendar widget, or there is also android agenda widget, which is pretty customizable, and will also scroll if the launcher you are using supports that....
If you just want a list of upcoming appointments, Agenda Widget is awesome. Very customizable, though it takes some work to get it just the way you want. In just a 4x1 space on my screen I can see my next 4 appointments, with little bullets next to them telling me which calendar they are from.

Eh? Am I missing some detail about this question? My device has 2 calendar widgets pre-installed: Agenda and Today. Agenda takes up most of a home screen and scrolls to display lots of calendar appts; Today just shows the current/next appt for the current day.
is there really no month view calendar widget for tw launcher that links up with google calendar?
i have tried go launcher ex and the calendar widget on that is perfect, but i want to run tw launcher instead.
i dont want to add agenda or today widget because i want a month view. any suggestions?

This is a list of bloatware removed from the Cognition ROM:
http://ponack.net/designgears/Cognition777/removed/
The TwCalendarAppWidget.apk listed there has a month view. I believe it's from the Euro SGS2 version of Touchwi but not sure. Anyway, replace the corresponding app on your phone with the one from the link. Worked for me on UnNamed 1.3.1.
Attachment so you can see what it looks like. Not bad.
thanks!
do you know which folder it goes in?
is is possible to theme?
/system/app
same one as your current TwCalendarAppWidget.apk should be in. It should be possible to theme using all the normal tools, apk manager etc.
EDIT: OK, now you got me curious. I was able to decompile, edit some XML and recompile without problems, so yes, I'd say it definitely is possible to theme it. FWIW, I changed the first day of the week to Sun (normally Mon.). I might do a full flashable mod with different themes and what not. But it will take me at least a week b/c I am busy with stuff. No promises!
EDIT 2: Oh, never mind, my changes were superficial. All I did was change the day of the week label, not the display of the widget. Still a good project. Not sure at this point if it is above my head...
EDIT 3: Ok, now this is just getting embarrassing. Using the apk I linked to, all you have to do it go into the Touchwiz Calendar app, go to preferences, and set your First day of the week preference. Widget should reflect this change, otherwise, delete and re-add widget and it should be there!
I SWORE I tried this before and it didn't work.

Pure Grid Calendar is absolutely gorgeous. I have a month view on my lock screen and a week view 4x4 on one of my homescreens.
It pulls from multiple google calendars and displays duration bars corresponding to your events.
Simply stunning. Hands-down one of my best app purchases.

Calendar Widget Switch

This may be a dumb question, so apologies up front. I really like the calendar widget that comes with JB (and ICS) ROMs. In particular, I like the scrolling capability it has within the widget window for agenda view; you can scroll through about a week's worth of appointments without having to go to full screen agenda view. With GB ROMs, the calendar widget doesn't have that functionality; it just shows the next appointment in the window, and to see further out in the week (or even current day), you have to go full screen view.
Is there a way to get the JB calendar widget to work in a GB ROM? Maybe an apk that can be installed?
Thanks for any advice.
Unless you have the source, no
If you had the source, you could replace all the JB specific classes with classes that work with GB
But other than doing that backwards compatibility changing, you cant take an app made for something higher than GB and install it, you'll just get a parsing error because the API for JB supports functions that didnt exist when GB came out
You can use Android Pro Widgets (APW) it's free, it does what you want (on all versions of Android) and it's in the Play Store

Not bad! That's about as close as I'm gonna get. I also like the bookmark widget better in APW. Thanks!

Transparent Google Calendar Widget for Android???

Does anyone have a transparent calendar widget for the Google Calendar? I spent yesterday evening looking for one, and I did find Simple Calendar - I've become familiar with the Simple line of products - but I just couldn't get it to interface with my Google Calendar.
I'm hoping that someone can help me with a transparent widget that they might've made or come into as I'm looking to get rid of the calendar icon and use a widget. However the Google Calendar widget is just hideous and garish if you're really into theming your device.
OR, if you can possibly walk me through the steps of interfacing the Simple Calendar with the Google Calendar? I'm really just looking to import/export everything so that it's saved to my Google account in case of loss of device or factory reset. I've had phones that this wasn't the case and I'd lose everything, recently had the loss of a Moto G4 and had to replace it on the fly with the Moto G5. I simply signed in and the calendar was just there because it was saved at mother Google and not on the device itself. If I could get the interface problem licked I'd be just fine with Simple...

Use chronus or any numerous calendar apps on play store with customizable widgets. Or try team blackout's clear google calendar here on xda. Or use a substratum theme.

Search team blackout apps. Only Google Calendar available i know that is black or clear. It is an older version but should still work. If not you would need substratum to to theme it.

I just published the following high customizable agenda widget

Hope you find it useful

Thank you very much! Your widget is just what I was looking for!

Agenda like apps

The Planner Pro app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appxy.planner looks like a good substitute but the layout rendering seems buggy on the landscape layout of the Gemini.
I've yet to try it but for a long time on Android devices I have used Tiny Calendar
I've not had an major problems with it and my father gets on with it as well on his android mobile so I shall try it when I get mine. Hopefully it will work well enough

Nice layout for calendar views. But Psion Agenda also allowed incorporation of To Do items.
For ToDo things I tend to use Google Keep now. With the benefit of it synchronising across all my devices with that account connected.
Thanks for the recommendation of Tiny Calendar. This is the best app I've seen for replicating the two-week custom view I use for Google Calendar on the web, and the widgets aren't bad either. It took me a while to find the customisation options (you have to force rotate to portrait using the Gemini App Bar) but now it's set up to my liking it's great.
I stopped using to-do lists years ago when I switched from EPOC to iOS and couldn't find a way to integrate them into calendar apps in the way Psion Agenda did. I generally use all-day calendar entries instead, so Tiny Calendar fits my use pattern perfectly. Anyone with similar needs might like to check out Calendar Widget which among other options gives a very nice semi-transparent agenda list on the home screen that makes very efficient use of screen real estate.
I have high hopes for the official Gemini Agenda clone when it finally sees the light of day. One of the joys of Psion Agenda, aside from its fantastic integration of calendar and to-do functionality, was that absolutely everything could be done without using the touchscreen. Android on the Gemini makes touch functions much more responsive than the old resistive hardware and stylus, but I'd sooner have the keyboard shortcuts back.
If Gemini Agenda can replicate that behaviour I'll be overjoyed. Those early screenshots certainly looked promising.
I can also recommend Jorte. It has a great Daily and Weekly layout including To Dos. Works well in the landscape layout.
This is probably the best Agenda substitute. It's the aCalender+ and even has an annual calendar view:
