Hi,
I've got a Xperia Z Ultra running on cyanogenmod 11.
It is a great phone and because I don't have wi-fi at my house i would like to connect my phone through wired internet and purchased a Ethernet to usb adaptor running on a AX88772A chip (not exactly sure what this means... )
I connected my phone to the internet and used ethernet droid (can't post a link) to try connect, the ethernet adapter went blue and the app said connected but I had no internet. Then I did ipconfig/all in command prompt and changed the connection subnet mask, ip adress, and DNS server to the ones listed, this time it seemed to be loading but in the end still said no internet connection. I have been led to believe from other posts that this is because the router doesn't recognise the device and denies connection.
I would like to know if there are any ways I could fix this and allow internet through ethernet.
Thanks
Just noticed that in the browser I get the error net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED

That is what I see whenever a webpage tries to load when there isn't a data connection. It can be reproduced by toggling airplane mode on then trying to use browser.
make sure DNS is set , you can use googles ones 8.8.8.8 and 4.4.4.4

Is this your own wireless network?
If it is, can you connect other wireless devices to it?
Most common issue is the device is not getting an IP, I have seen Netgear, Belkin, and D-Link routers/access points fail to issue an IP to WindowsCE devices for some reason, usually if you soft reset the router/access point, it will work for you.
If it's not your network, perhaps there is a proxy server or other gateway on the network, and you need to enter these settings into your device.
or if it's set to get dns by dhcp and the gateway dont give any dns
or if it's hardcoded to always use the isp gprs dns on all connections
In the Wireless Networks it says "Connected" next to my "SSID" i have the correct key and dns/static ip setup. I go on Marketplace, internet browser (Opera), and another internet browser (Skyfire) and none of them work, so basically I'm connected to my router but I have no Internet.
I have HSPL3, ChuckyROM, and Radio Radio_2_11_50_26, I used to have Radio 2_12_50_02_2 but the internet didn't work with that one either.
What could be wrong??

First off why are you using static?
Second have seen these types of issues before with static , try dynamic(DHCP).
well i have to use the dns, i don't need the static ip, i switched to dhcp and only input the dns but it is still not working.

In your settings, when you configured your wifi , in the box that says "connects to:" did you select "The Internet" or "My Work", this should be Internet ...
yea its says "The Internet" and by the way, after i removed the static IP my connection just says Unavailable when i try to connect (I hide my router's SSID so i input the stuff manually)
Oh and i had a motorola cliq before and it connected just fine
ok so for some reason i retried it just now and the internet works...so i guess problem is solved
Hi, I searched the forums and found this thread regarding wifi Internet problem so I'm posting my problems here.
I'm having similar wifi issue. I can connect to home router just fine but when I'm out using either free wifi from some stores (like panera or starbucks) or School wifi, it shows up as "Connected" but when I try browser it won't even show the home page or log in page. I switched from "Work" to "Internet" but it still won't work...
I don't think it's hardware problem but more so OS problem or something i'm missing. This problem only occurs with WinMo 6.5(I use stock rom), and when I boot Dan Android, wifi works fine. I'm not sure if Android's usage of wifi is somehow affecting my WinMo's ability to log into wifi but this is my wild guess.
If someone knows what my problem is could you please help me?
thanks
i think my problem was that when i tried to connect to my wifi, my hd2 was connected to my pc via usb. when i tried to connect when i'm not connected to my pc it worked
that's about all i know, hope it helps
did recognize this too...i think w-lan is disabled when active sync is activated...because the phone can use the internet connection of the pc.
back to topic: do you use static ip's in your home network or does the other networks (school) require a static but you're on dynamic ip?

hm, I have no idea which ip I use when I'm connected to home or public. How do I check?
Just bought the Malata Dock for my Gtab. I'm currently running Zyhong's Gtab beta 3.2.
As stated by others, Pandora and Google Market fail to stream/download when using Ethernet only.
This is still early and hopefully a dev will point me in the right direction, but I am able to make the tablet use the ethernet connection for Pandora and Market.
Boot Gtab on dock with Ethernet connected. At this point most things work except Pandora/Market.
Using my Droid Inc, I turned on Wireless Tether in Infrastructure mode.
Configure wireless on the tab. Once it connects, go to Settings -> Wifi and modify the wireless connection. I configured the ip address, gateway and DNS 1&2 to work as if the wireless connection was the wired connection.
At this point Pandora and Market will begin to work using the Ethernet. I confirm this by downloading "Angry Birds" from the market. 18MB download in about 30 seconds. Checked phone during this time and it had no bars on 1X...no way it was using the cell connection.
My current theory is the previously stated "Connectivity Status = True" setting. I'm guessing this gets set once the Wifi connection is establish.
If I now drop the wifi connection, Pandora and Market breaks.
I'm curious if it is possible to write an app or script to rename wlan0 to eth1 and eth0 to wlan0. I'm assuming the test for connectivity status = true is set to check wlan0 ?
Any ideas?
Another theory is that there are no DNS servers configured for the wired connection.
I'll be trying that later.
I don't have enough posts yet to ask in the developer forums for help....so if you know one of the devs who are interested in the dock, please point them over here.
With that said, I tested if setting the DNS server manually would have any effect. It appears that DHCP is setting the DNS servers after all with a wired only connection.
So I'm back to the Connectivity Status = True issue.
I'll be looking at how that check is performed and what initiates it. If I can cause the check to be performed on eth0 instead of just wlan0 I think that will fix it.

Got my dock today. With wireless turned off, I can boot on the dock & draw a dhcp ip.
Can't be a DNS issue or you wouldn't be able to surf the net.
Can surf net via browser, play videos/music/pics from my Windows Media Center, Netflix plays fine & can even receive email (as long as the app is the one that does the checking & not me telling it to).
Pandora, Crackle, Market, Amazon App tore, & SlideME not worky (some say no connection while others just hang).
Turning on wireless at the same time results in drawing different ip for wireless. Netcfg show eth0 up with an ip/mask, wlan0 up with an ip/mask. Ifconfig shows data transfer on both interfaces (and different mac addresses).
Must be something the the apps are looking for wifi. or could it be that this is a phone OS & phones don't have ethernet connections (and that ethernet is not listed in Settings, Wireless & Networks)?
At work we don't have wireless, so I used my phone with "wireless tether" to make a connection. Once the wireless network is seen and connected to, I modified the wireless network settings on the tablet so that the gateway, dns, subnet mask and IP are all valid on the wired connection. As for IP just make one up that is not already in use that is valid for the wired network subnet.
This basically tells the tablet that yes you are connected to a wireless network, but with a routing trick you are sending all your traffic out the wired connection.
Since the dock charges the tablet, I connect the phone to the tablet to keep it charged while the wireless tether app is running.
BTW...if you install opera and flash, you can change your agent string to "desktop" within opera and use the web version of pandora all without having to do the fake wireless trick.
I can confirm Pandora and the Market works just fine doing this....as for you other apps I haven't tried those.

Read you origianl post. My point was that it is not a DNS issue since with wireless turned off & starting the tab on the dock, internet works. If DNS was the issue then the browsers/etc would not be able to resolve the urls.
But, I did verify your theroy while making sure that there was no possiblity the tab was communicating via your cell/wifi.
I connected mine to the dock with wireless & ethernet connected. Verified both interfaces were up via ifconfig. Wifi connected to wireless access point & ehternet connect directly to a switch. Disconnect access point from switch so no physical connection to lan/wan from the access point, that way wireless connection to tab stays up but it goes nowhere & the only physical connection to the lan/wan is via ethernet. Mail works, Market works, Amazon store works, Pandora works.
Has to be the Connection Status issue in Android that is casuing the problem. Current ROMs must not take ethernet into consideration when checking status. I saw sample code on the net for Connection Status that only looks for Wifi.
I believe we need a rom dev to pursue this for it to work correctly.
Haven't been back to this thread in a bit, but now that I have my 10 posts, i'll start asking around in the Dev community if somebody can point me in the right direction.

next thing after that to try is power down then back on your phone.
What brand is your wifi router (if its a Belkin then do yourself a favor and throw it away and get something better), does it have any security (ie wpa, wpa2, wep things like that)?
if "rebooting" the phone doesn't work try going into the wireless settings / manage connections and delete that connection then recreate it.
Sounds like something is wrong with your wifi configuration, especially the DHCP.
Try setting the IP manually on your razr. Look at your computer or some other device in your network, if it says the local IP is something like 192.178.168.50, try giving your razr the IP 192.178.168.51 or 192.178.168.52.
And try adding a DNS server manually. Google DNS or OpenDNS are some good free DNS servers. Google DNS IP: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 OpenDNS IP: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
The gateway is typically the IP of your router (if your pattern of IPs in your local net are like above [192.178.168.51], the router will most likely have the IP 192.178.168.1. Netmask is often 255.255.255.0)
If the IPs in your network look different (like for example 192.178.1.51) just do the same and only change the bold numbers.
The best way to get wifi working is looking on devices in your network that work and then adapting their settings.
Or more commonly :
192.168.0.1 Or even 192.168.1.1
Those are the common US home network ip address for routers. You can configure the last subnet up to 255 max.
Hi!
I just got my new Honor 7 and I'm now experiencing a major flaw: I can connect to my WIFI, but won't get Internet connection.
Details:
- Wifi router supports 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, same error on both.
- IP Configuration (DNS, Gateway, DHCP) set to same as on Laptop and other android devices - all other devices working fine
- When connected to Wifi, Phone can be pinged by other devices & phone can ping other devices
- Phone cannot ping the router but is shown in it's "connected devices" list (correct MAC adress and everything)
- When opening a Wifi Hotspot from my Notebook (forwarding the router's wifi), Phone can connect to internet & ping router (everything works perfectly)
How is it possible that if my Notebook forwards the router's wifi everything works perfect but I can't get it working by connecting directly?
Hope any of you can help me with my problem!
Best regards
Do you use a MAC filter? Sounds like your router blocks the connection.
Gesendet von meinem PLK-L01 mit Tapatalk
Nope, no MAC-Filter in use!
As i said the device gets listet among all other (working) devices in the router's DHCP devices list...
Sounds like a router issue. Any way to check if WiFi works on somebody else's WiFi? Suggest maybe change channels that WiFi is transmitting on the router

The Wifi on the device seems to work fine:
Wifi Hotspot made by notebook works, Public Wifi at Shopping Mall worked fine .. Checking more Networks tomorrow!
\\EDIT: Both Networks at my University work fine.
Is your subnet mask 255.255.255.0 or something else for the gateway? This affects the network prefix length. Also check DNS, try static setting instead of dhcp and use Google DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

What is Gateway IP address and what is the Subnet mask?

Subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 , according to that prefix length is set to 24.
Can't get DNS , nothing changes when changing to google!
I noticed that when I do an arp scan for the network, I can find other devices but not the router. On my old phone the router will show up on arp scan!
If router can see phone, then assign it static IP address, then add that IP address to DMZ - that way it's fully open. Sadly with routers it's a matter of narrowing down the problem with trial and error to resolve. You can also try temporarily deactivating firewall, and/or temporarily removing WiFi security to see if any difference.

Router can see phone! I have just added it's temporary IP as DMZ Host to check whether it solves the problem - and it does!
When the phone is set as DMZ Host in the router it can ping the router and connect to the internet (so far it seems like any other device).
Before setting the static IP and using this method permanently, I'd like to ask if this causes any changes to other users in the Network ? I am sharing the router with two other people using it for phones, tablets, IPTV etc.
I'm sorry I have no idea what DMZ is exactly.
Thank you very much for your help so far!
No problem. It's not really a permanent solution as it just opens up the IP address to all traffic. It does mean that the router is somehow blocking the phone in normal conditions. This could be for all sorts of reasons, firewall rules on the router, or port forwarding, or Mac filtering, or IP filtering, difficult to say. DMZ shouldn't affect the other users.
Sent from my PLK-L01 using Tapatalk
I'm not too sure about this router's configuration because it is a rather cheap NoName device provided by the ISP while at my home I'm used to AVM devices.
But I can nowhere spot any specific rules, there's not even a single port-forwarding set on the device. So I can't spot anything that could be blocking my phone :.
Anyway I have just removed my phone from DMZ, reconnected it to the Wifi and so far it's still working fine!
Even if I have to re-do this procedure every now and then after device reboots it shouldn't be a problem.
I have no Idea on how temporary setting it up as DMZ haschanged everything, but for now I'd consider the issue solved! I owe you one for this
Sorry that i have to reopen this old thread but i have the same problem with my HONOR 7.

Tested all 10 channels but still no internet.
Also tested disabling the WPA/WPA2 PSK safety but same result.
Put it in DMZ, find DHCP table and see which IP adress phone get, put that adress in DMZ, DMZ settings are on the same place as NAT (usually). I think that phone cannot get DNS server from router because of some rule in firewall, but try to ping 8.8.8.8 from phone without setting up DMZ, if DNS is problem he should ping that adress but not be able to load page in browser....
@ MaxMonument94 can u connect to any other Wifi ? or all having same issue ?
The internet connection is working in any other network exept the network at my girlfriends place but she has the same router/provider as i have.
If there are any german users, we both got “telecolumbus“ as internet provider.
Now its just more curious.
After i entered the IP in DMZ my ookla speedtest on my phone showed perfect results.
Also the Chrome browser loaded pages and other apps (like 9GAG, Telegram, Whatsapp) worked for a while without any problem. But after a while they all got connection problems (page dont load, waiting for connection on telegram, GIFs dont load).
After that i started a new speedtest and the results were again quite good.
Then the same procedure again and again.
I have really no clue what kind of problem that is.
Btw: my mobile internet was disabled all the time to dont distort the results.
When that happens again, try to ping 8.8.8.8 and tell me what is output, remember ping it when it wont work....
I have pinged 8.8.8.8 with Android Terminal Emulator
The results in the screenshot.
