[Q] LG Optimus L7 II alarms, ringtones, sound notifications and UI sounds. - LG Optimus L3 II, L5 II, L7 II, L9 II

First of all, hello xda users!
As title says. I'm looking for alarms, ringtones, sound notifications and UI sounds, which are in LG Optimus L7 II. I tried to rip them manually, but I can't root my phone. I used Framaroot, Kingo Android Root and tried to install SuperSU in recovery mode, but all this methods fails. Can anyone rip this sounds, pack them in .zip/.rar/.7zip file, upload it somewhere and give a link here? Please

Uhm.... can anyone help me with that? Srsly, I can't root this LG (I tried all possible methods, but it didn't help)

Not sure I can help you with this, but I have a zip file that unites hundreds of ringtones and notifications from various manufacturers and Android versions. Can upload it somewhere if you wish.
EDIT: Never mind, already uploaded it here.

This unpacked .kdz file looks like have all original sounds from LG L7 II with updated Android from 4.1.2 Jelly Bean to 4.4.2 KitKat, except one I guess - the sound while deleting completely one of Android apps. Looks like it's not only my problem with this sound. I mean, when LG L7 II is cleaned by resetting it to default configuration and the one of the apps will be deleted, the sound will play, but after installing some apps (and also having less space in memory of this smartphone) and then deleting apps the sound is not playing (If you know what I mean).

This unpacked .kdz file is official LG firmware. No more, no less. Any xda published P71x (except CIS version) .kdz is pure LG firmware. So if you dont find file in /system folder, that means LG dont provide it in this version of fw.
And keep on mind that LG provide buggy softvare, trace of bugs like this is very hard. Like on this forum described LED notification bug. No rules.

I want to enable call recording in my galaxy s3 (GT-I9300) , but i have a odex rom.

is there any mod to enable call recording in stock rom?

Android 4.1.2 - Poland
PDA:I9300XXELKC
CSC:I9300OXXELK4
Kernel:siyah v1.8.6
please help me , I'm a beginner.
Download a custom ROM
Hi!
I´ve never heard about a modification for S3 targeted specifically towards call recording.
If you want to do call recording i only know of one way to do this. Sadly though it isn´t free. Here goes:
On Google Play there is an app called "Call Recorder Galaxy S2 & S3". There´s a link for the trial version here.
Please note the reviews of the full paid app aren´t all positive so the trial version for initial testing could be a good idea, allthough for me the full app runs flawlessly.
In the latest iteration this app needs root so if you aren´t rooted and don´t want to root it will not work.
Fortunately root is easily obtained and i can only recommend it as there are so many other things possible with it.
Look here for rooting instructions.
Regards & happy new year.

if you could decompile secphone.apk (with wanam instruction) please share it with me to replace it with my secphone.apk
Free app here to record calls but sound quality isn't the best.

Then why don't you find a ROM with call recording features? A lot of them have the feature so it's not hard to find
Install the Xposed framework and Tweakbox and you can enable it in there without having to replace any APKs or lose the odexing of your stock, original ROM.

That happens when the phone is starting up and your files are still scanning (if your uptime is quite high, OTOH, you should probably check to see if MediaScannerService isn't going crazy with your files). It's a Samsung bug/feature. Since Tweakbox enables the original audio recording function in SecPhone, you're gonna see it even if you modify SecPhone directly. In Xposed, someone can bypass the check by replacing the method checkMediaScannerRunning() with one that returns Boolean.FALSE, but I haven't really looked to see if it would break anything
It has low quality too!
I think that it's better to install a foxhound rom!
I had it but return to this stock rom!
because every one or two weak it has a new update and made me sadly! (my connection is too slow! my download speed at most is:50 kbps!!!)

Porting older Android Rom to Newer Android Rom

Hey Guys
Just for fun, i want to port miui v5 to my lg optimus 4x hd I have al neccassary a official MIUI 5 from one x (similar processor and gpu like 4x hd (tegra 3) same resolution etc.) but the problem is miui v5 is based on android 4.1.1 and there is only CM 10.1 Android 4.2.2 for my Optimus 4x. Is it possible to port apps and the other stuff from 4.1 to 4.2 ?
DarkFantasy6
Nobody can help me? :/
You can port apps to newer versions of Android, but it's complicated. You'll have to know how to code for that.
Or, you could try rolling back your Optimus 4X HD to 4.1, so long as you're not bothered by the features lost.
Edit: Also, you could try just extracting Apps from a 4.2 version of MIUI (if there is one, I don't keep up with MIUI) because unless its a really system-dependant app for the most part Apps will still work, if not just a bit buggy. Framework and other stuff in ROMs is what screws up the compatibility when porting most of the time.
Sent from my Nexus 4.
Before we begin, please download the programs 7zip and Notepad++ as we will need them. And get a Stock JB ROM for our Device(Preferably DeOdexed)
Get 7zip Here:
http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
Get NotePad++ Here:
http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/
This guide is made for the noobs who are just getting into Android development or just wanna mess around with Android. I know for noobs, this may be a bit overwhelming, but trust me, it gets much much better!
So lets get started!!!
1) Download the ROM you want to port
2) Open it using 7zip
3) Replace the kernel/boot.img with ours
4) Go to /system/lib/modules. Delete everything and replace with ours
5) then go to /system/lib/hw. Delete and replace everything with ours
6) For the Hard keys and soft keys to work go to /system/usr/keychars and delete and replace then go to /system/usr/keylayout and delete and replace with ours
7) Now go to /system/etc and delete the following and replace with ours:
- vold.fstab
- /wifi
- /ppp
This has been tested on the International Version of the Galaxy S II

[ROM] Lenovo P780 Pre-rooted Official ROMs for Flash Tool with TWRP

DISCLAIMER : What you do with the content of this thread is your own responsibility.
WARNING : Tested only with the 4GB version of Lenovo P780
Personal Plea : Please do not PM me for every little thing. Please post your queries in this thread instead, and READ before PM me. I will ignore you if your questions are already answered here.
What are these?
These are pre-rooted Flash Tool images for Lenovo P780 4GB. They also have TWRP recovery by default. Apps installed on first boot are also removed. They can be installed from the Play Store and those included are already outdated anyway.
The Chinese version also has GApps installed as it did not originally come with GApps.
What is VIBEUI?
These are MIUI-like ROMs created by Lenovo for their later phones (phones released after our P780). They were kind enough to port them over to our P780 but as of now only available officially for Chinese base.
The one I'm sharing below is new Android 4.4.2 based VIBEUI V1.5. They are BETA QUALITY. They are rooted, with GApps and TWRP, debloated somewhat like before. They also have Chinese radios. Flash a different one in recovery that you like.
In addition to that, framework.jar was modded to have minimum number match for caller id to be 10 instead of 11 (Credit to @C3C076 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2268120)
Note : Removing Lenovo Safe Center/SecureIT creates an annoying overlay that says "Security Problem" on our phone. That's why I left it in. You can freeze it however, the overlay won't show.
What are they good for?
These are good as backups. Or if you want to change your base from Chinese to Worldwide and/or vice versa. Or you have soft-bricked your phone. Or you just don't know which recovery works with your phone.
Why would I want to change my base ROM?
The custom ROMs you can find on the internet for the Lenovo P780 are meant for specific ROM base ONLY. For example, most of the ROMs from needrom, or Mobile Uncle forums (or even MIUI from the official website), are meant for the Chinese base. Most of the ROMs from Russian 4pda or lenovo-forum are meant for the Worldwide base. Flashing a ROM meant for the wrong base will cause your phone not to boot properly. Flashing a recovery image meant for a wrong base will also cause your phone not to boot. Flash with one of these base ROMs, then flash the ROM of your choice/specific base from TWRP. These images got you covered.
Where are they?
HERE :
Chinese version :
P780_S135_130917_rooted_twrp_gapps.7z
VIBEUI_V1.5_1419_5_DEV_P780_rooted_twrp_gapps.7z
Worldwide version :
P780_S119_130929_rooted_twrp_gapps.7z
P780_ROW_S123_131231_rooted_twrp_gapps.7z
P780_ROW_S124_140403_rooted_twrp_gapps.7z
How do I flash these to my phone?
You will need :
Windows PC (Windows 7 tested, may or may not work with others)
Smart Phone Flash Tool (get it here)
Smart Phone Flash Tool USB Drivers (get it here)
A good quality micro USB cable and a working USB port on your Windows PC
Step by step guide :
If your phone is not already soft bricked, back up whatever you want. External SD card is fine. If your phone is soft-brick then say goodbye to your data and skip this step.
Uncompress all the files you downloaded from this thread into a directory where you can remember. Including the ROMs.
Shutdown your phone if its not in a bootloop. If it is skip this step.
Open "Device Manager" on your Windows PC.
Plug in your phone through the micro USB cable. A device will show up for a few seconds in "Device Manager". After that, it will disappear again!
Recognize the device tree where it appeared, and wait for it as you unplug and plug in your phone again (if bootloop, its automatic!)
Catch it with a right click as it appears! Then choose "Update Drivers" and pick the directory where you uncompressed the drivers you downloaded above. Its ok if after catching it the device disconnects. You only need to install the drivers now.
Assuming the drivers are correctly installed, run the Smart Phone Flash Tool.
Click on scatter-loading and choose the scatter file "MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt" of the ROM you want to flash.
Make sure the checkbox "DL DA All With Check Sum" is CHECKED
Click on "Firmware->Upgrade" button.
Plug in your powered down phone via the USB cable again. See it flash.
When a big green circle appears on the screen, your are done!
How do I flash a custom ROM after this?
First of all, always allow your phone to boot up at least ONCE after a fresh flash. Otherwise flashing from custom recovery will fail by some partition errors.
After that, shutdown your phone, then power it up with both up and down volume button press, releasing the power button after the screen lights up. That is TWRP. Happy flashing!
My signal has become very bad after switching base!
According to some Russian forum, phones from China has a different GSM module, and switching base may affect the signal strength since you flash also the modem image in the process.
Lucky for us, the Russians have us covered. Pick a modem of your choice and try them until you find one that works well for you:

Actually that's the one I was using before I switched to the one based on JiaoYu G4 by "savyol". Reason being my iPega BT controller doesn't work on SLXROM (but that's fair because it didn't work on Lenovo stock either) but it worked in this ROM (and also MIUI).
However I could be switching back soon since the newer release of this they cranked up the auto brightness to an eye piercing level when in complete darkness and i hate it!

The JiaYu ROM i was testing is for ROW, I found it here:
http://forum.china-iphone.ru/post1223015.html#p1223015
If your phone is running LiFe it should be ROW version. Just flash in recovery should do.
Heck, if you screw up, reflash it again in Flash_Tool, hence the purpose of me sharing the above ROMs

If you have official firmware, it can be determined by the number, i.e. S110, S116, S119 (ROW), and S125, S129, S135 (Chinese)
You have a custom ROM installed. This is probably not there, or changed by the ROM creator.
By experience LiFe is based on ROW. Unless somebody ported over to Chinese base and flashed it on your phone.
The point of this thread is to share those bases. So that you can decide and switch base. So that it DOESN'T MATTER what base you are CURRENTLY on, just change to the one needed by your intended custom ROM.
PS : The JiaYu ROM has EBR included in it (partition table) so in theory it should work on either base

thanks for the roms and procedure. Worked flawlessly !
However, I can't seem to find the "developer options" in the settings ? Is it simply not there or hiding some place else ?
Thanks!

@satanduck - I have bought the Lenovo P780 and facing an unusual problem. I am not able to move the Apps from the App Drawer to the Home Screens of Lenovo Launcher at all. When I long press the app icon in App Drawer, they dance with a X symbol in each user app but when I drag it up or down, I don't see an Option to move to Home or the Home Screen? The phone is not rooted yet.
your advice on this would be much appreciated.

Select the app, and drag down on wich screen you want, they are small on the bottom, or you can press menu, add app., you can select one or more..
It was a headscratcher for me too!
What works for me :
1. Long press on any of the homescreens (empty space)
2. A menu appears at the bottom with several tabs, by default it is on "Add"
3. Select what you want to add to the homescreen (multiple select possible), Apps, shortcuts, folders, widgets, etc...

[Q] ZTE contact app how to access hidden features

Hello, i own a ZTE V5 V9180 it runs ZTE custom firmware called NUBIA UI v2.5.
As i was able to decompile the contacts.apk i found there are entries like "sorting contacts" etc, but when the app is running i cant see the options.
Same in systemui.apk there ar ementions in smali etc. about splitscreen, but i dont have these options and other ZTE devices running on NUBIAUI have them.
I realised that there must be a code which enables or disables some fetures regarding on which device is the app running (i think they make the core of the apps same and then make restrictions based of maybe model number).
I want to find which are the characters after them the app decide what options to enable or disable.
Is someone so kind and can me help to find where in the code is the device specific restriction hidden?
My goal is to have contact sorting enabled, and in best option also splitscreen and maybe other functions.
if there are device specific restriction this device is V9180 (or X9180), ZTE V5max is N958St, ZTE Z7max is NX505J.
Thanx in advance for your time guys!

Hi, did you find something out about this topic? I am interested in the sorting option of contacts. I have Z9 mini, and the contacts are sorted in very weird way and there is no option to change it.
As for the split screen, this is something my phone has enabled by default.

try to find ZTE Z9mini on 4pda.ru forums, or if you have root, you can modify the apk by yourself HERE on 4PDA. The process is described on a ZTE V5 ContactsProvider.apk and while you have also nubiaui,it should work also. Dont forget to make a full backup of your phone. And really you dont have an option to sort contacts? I thought it was disabled only on ZTE V5 nubiaUI.

Thats the most weird things, because when you decompile the contacts.apk there are strings containg different sorting methods.
But when i spoke with the latest zte nubia z9 mini owner he said there are also no sortings possibilities on his device.
When i wrote to the engeneers on ZTE they said that they dont plan to implement sorting methods of contacts.
I thought that the sortings method will be avaliable only for intenational firmwares, but thats also weir because there are no international firmwares for nubia devices.
I didn't find problems like this

Hi, can you give me the source for Velvet cam port?
I installed it and i only have 3 modes available, so even though a shortcut from the launcher will take story shot and portrait, they are not available in the Camera interface. The camera is much faster I have to admit, but trying to install the initial G8x cam apk fails.
Thanx
check out this new feature after android 11 upgrade :
