As title says, there were some pre-release models launched on some Optus dealers, which is believed to be dated before Oct 26 2011.
You can tell if yours is pre-release defect model by:
Settings -> Build date -> If yours is built before Oct 26, your model is a pre-release
Green tint to your screen on low/auto brightness
Viewing a black screen, you will be able to see black spots & splashes inside the screen
Fuzzy static all over the camera
Noticable lag when scrolling left & right at the app screen
My build was Oct 19, 2011, and is defective of all of the above.
THE PROBLEM? To the average phone user, you wouldn't be able to spot these problems. I am a perfectionist, so I see all the small details and was able to quickly identify these issues.
THE ANSWER? Send it back to your local dealer to get it sent to the Motorola service centre to get it checked/replaced.
Other Aussie Optus Razr users please test to see if your pre-release models are also the same, apparently the local dealers either pretend they dont know they are selling pre-release models, or they genuinely dont know they've stocked pre-releases.
P.S. Please post your build date & if you have the same issues so rest of the Aussie community can be more aware of these defective models.

Motorola actually has responded about the "black blotches" here https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/61777?tstart=30 stating it's not a defect. The app drawer stutters a little even on builds 10/26 and later, I think it's just due to the coding not being as refined as it could be. The app drawer stutters slightly when you first scroll the app drawer left to right, but after that there is no more lag/stuttering. The screen will have a slight bluish tint to preserve the life of the blue pixels/subpixels, but the screen shouldn't have a green tint. Another issue I identified not sure if it's normal or defect.. There is a tiny bit of light from the search capacitive bleeding out into the lower right corner. I noticed this while watching netflix and looking at darker backrounds. A few others have confirmed this and their replacement has this as well, but others state they don't see this. Wonder what is the deal here .
Build date Wed Oct 26 18:47:38 CDT 2011.
Does this count as pre-release. It's not before Oct 26th.

No if it's the 26th and later it's not pre-release. Anything before 10/26 is a pre-release model.

Yours is not a pre-release, but if you suffer from any of the above defects, may very well be.
Oct 26 build razr's seem to have none/close to none of the defects above, which is why it is unfair that we shouldd be using a pre-release.
At the moment, my razr is being inspected at the service centre, will report back soon and share the news with you guys.
Mine was on the 25th, but I rooted, still good to send back???

And to note, I notice the back screen, the camera, and the laginess, I do not notice the screen very much. Where did you get this info anyways? P.S. I'm on Rogers as well.

Build Date is 29 Oct. Have this screen issue. No lags found at app drawer scrolling.
Here is my post regarding screen: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19394445&postcount=8 I think its more a usual behavior for most RAZR's OLED displays as motorola support team says. I've not heard that someone does not have this issue.

Yes, got it on Expansys
Actually smart actions doesn't activate GPS...but I'm at work, closed building. I'll test it more...
EDIT: Confirmed, Smart Actions doesn't activate GPS... the curious thing is you can't use position if you havent't wi-fi enabled.
About Expansys, I think i'll contact their quality service again (did it already because they missed car charger at first) noticing this situation. They won't be happy about this...
UPDATE: Just informed Expansys, let's see how they reply
I've got this reply on the "black screen" issue from retailer:
We have not heard of this issue before. However, it may be related to the glue that is used to stick the screen down. I know from past experience that AMOLED screens have been know to have yellow or red tinges which can be noticeable on a white screen. This colouration does fade in time as the glue dries fully. I suspect this may be a similar issue with your phone but cannot be certain.

From my previous posts I've attached image which really seems like glue have not dried up. What do you think about such opinion?
Also here is similar problem on android central forum:

And here is a similar issue discussed with SGII:

Hello,
I bought a used EVO3d, seller said It's a refurbished one. I already saw real 3d on another evo, but the screen of the one I have is clearly not 3d. only blurred.
I tried restarting it, resetting the phone with the bootmanager, removing the battery... Still the same. I know of the 3d switch, I tried to play 3d videos, its just not working. I can still record and take 3d pics and videos with the camera but the screen is just blurry.
Is there a chance someone rooted it, had a custom Rom/kernel, then rerooted it and now something is messed up? I checked for root, its not rooted. Bootloader said s-off.
I'll edit in some more info, could you please help me to find out what's wrong? I didn't read about kernels, rooting and custom Roms in detail so I don't know what to do step by step....

Maybe you should check what kind of LCD panel do you have. But I am not sure if you can change it to a normal not 3d panel. It is just a guess.. I checked mine and it says Sharp. And if I am correct it is the only panel in the EVO3d.But then again I may be wrong.
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using Tapatalk 2
Yea, there is no way to change out a 3d screen for a 2d one. Since your bootloader is locked, it's likely the device has never been rooted. Try doing a factory reset, that will clear up any software bugs.
I saw on the news that there was a guy who bought 3d Tv's and then switched the 3d panel for a regular one and then brought it back to the store claiming all sort of things. I just thought it was possible.Means I was wrong.
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using Tapatalk 2
I did a factory reset both in the settings (SD card, privacy) and through the boot manager(vol down+power). What else can I do?
Screen: 4.3 inch qhd resolution
I can't find "sharp" in the hardware information..!
Doh, I just realized it gets relatively hot during minimal use.
Hmmm.......
I would unlock the bootloader first. Its says S-Off?
Try flashing some older GB roms and see if you get 3D to work.
I highly doubt they changed the screen to anything else.
This is why I'd never buy a used phone.
Anyway, I think you can get the thing working.
I assume its GSM?

With a tv, yes it is, because there are many tv's that are the same size as others. For this phone, there is no other phone with this same exact size and same exact connectors.
some phones just bad
my girl got a referbished phone from sptint and it reboots and locks like twice a day.
If you recently got it you can still get TEP on it even if it was bought from craigslist. Then a few days after come in with the Evo and say it's 3D stopped working.
I can confirm this works as my friend did it before
Edit nvm your GSM
Sent from my Evo 3D on Sprint's blazing fast 3G network with 4G coverage everywhere
The display of the Evo3D has 3 sandwiched components: the display itself followed by the parallax barrier and then the touch digitizer.
Usually you are using the 2D functions of your display and in these situations the parallax barrier is turned off. When you start using 3D, what happens is as follows:
The horizontal resolution of the display is divided by 2 (thus, 960/2=480);
The software in the phone then displays one image for each 2nd pixel and another for the intermediary ones (thus showing 2 different but interlaced images; ex: http://viscg.uni-muenster.de/sim2d3d/img/windows_menus_maya_vi_1600x1200.png ).
The next trick, is to show each eye only one of the 2 images; This is where the parallax barrier comes in. When it get's activated, it forms small ~1 pixel width barriers in front of the LCD unit so that from a certain distance (the sweet spot) each eye can only see one of the 2 images (it's a bit tricky to explain binocular vision).
From what I understand, it seems that you have a problem with the parallax barrier component of the display. It may be software related, though I doubt it.
If you still have the warranty seals intact, don't touch the software. Try to get it into a authorized service and get it serviced under the warranty.

Hi,
At the second day of purchase my s3 started to make silly things.
After using for a while I closes down itself. And for some time it does not boot.
Then it boots up but this time its screen tilts with color purple/pink...
I couldnot understand whether problem is in software or hardware.
For example after using 10 minutes or sometimes 1 hour It closes down and does not boot.
After sometime I starts to boot. but when starting the screen tilts and gets prurple/pink color...
I have recorded some videos of its booting process. does anybody has an idea whether this is a software or hardware problem??
thank you

Hi
I have had this phone for just over a week, and when closing certain apps from the multitasking button, and then pressing home, my wallpaper disappears for about 5 seconds, as well as the notification bar, which is gone for like 15 seconds. Also, sometimes the apps I am trying to swipe upwards to kill glitch out and do not close, the phone almost gets confused and mixes the applications up. Are these known bugs to all HOX+ users, or software issues with just my phone? My screen recently was cracked when it was knocked out of my hands by a stranger while I was removing the SIM (because I also had SIM issues with this phone, like many others on this forum) and ATT now all of a sudden says I have no warranty on it. I was wondering if anyone else had these issues I have been having with the HOX+ software so I know whether or not I should be able to be under full warranty, or if these are just general problems. ATT was of course of no help. They said my issues were not documented, and told me to go to a store because it would be under warranty but as soon as I said the word crack it was like talking to a wall. Geesh. Hope you guys can help, thanks!
drocks95
Right, I don't think the source of the weird behaviour of your AT&T One X + is coming from the software as such, but from dropping it. Unless you have taken out an insurace to cover such accidents I would say you will be left with the costs yourself.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium
A cracked screen will have touch sensor issues and will behave like you describe.
I have not looked up the SIM issue but on my international version I have no problems even when switching to an LTE SIM.
Hey guys and gals!
I've got one of the rare white and silver Jewels, model PJ75100, and after seeing how well my Jewel runs on PAC-ROM 5.1.1 Lollipop, my girlfriend wants it for herself to replace her iPhone 5c.
Problem is... The screen isn't working.
It does boot up and run, but nothing shows on screen. I've even updated the firmware with the latest release Sense, but to no avail.
I haven't disassembled the phone yet, and I'm willing to tackle any hardware related problem I have to just to get this thing going.
Outside of one nick in the back cover, it looks brand new, so that's a plus. Not to mention that my girl wants a 2012 phone to replace her 2014 iPhone 5c, which I think is a big bonus.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance.
