Will flashing the 10b TOT file fix my partitions? - Verizon LG G3

Hey all, I have been flashing ROMs for a while now. Somehow, I created another partition (i think) in my phones internal SD. Its about 1.2 gigs, and some other space hidden. Some folders lead to others and right back around to the same folder. Can't find anything to help me out. Even Google couldn't help. My apps are somewhere buried in the phone, along with my backups. Now, I CAN get all stuff off no problem and am ready to fully TOT this thing. Will it totally redo my partitions? If not how do i format them to get back to out of the box? I tried the KDZ method, and i got back to stock, but the partitions were still messed up. Phone runs fine, it just drives me crazy with these looping folders. Oh yeah, on CM 12. Hope someone can shed some light.

I have folders in /emulated (/0, /legacy) and each one respectively has a copy of /sdcard, and I have a copy of the EXACT FILES in sdcard0. Look at my permissions in /storage. (Middle screenshot, above)
Here are a few more...what did I do???

I'm not going to be much help unfortunately, but it is normal for those directories to point to the same files. I don't know if its the exact files or a mirror, but either way, that's normal as far as I know.
There are a few directory paths that appear to point to the same files.

Yeah...I knew that from my S3...I was just comparing files, and the /sdcard0 is empty on it. I must have forced a copy somehow. I'm going to TOT, hopefully that fixes it...if not, my phone might have to get stolen...lol jk

On this phone the sdcard 0 is not empty, I just looked. Appears to be a link or mirror of internal storage I believe.

Why do you think something is wrong? It would depend what you have stored there. I didn't realize but just looked and I have over 3g of files downloaded. That would explain why mine is much bigger than yours.

Okay, when I backup it doesn't go to my CWM or TWRP folder....it goes deep inside my phone, and I can't restore from either of them...no files found. I've installed many different ROMs over the years, especially AOSP and I've never had any problems like this. Also, get stuck at the splash screen on reboots at least once a day. I never dirty flash....I've had problems since the CM12 12-04-2014 that was borked....

You might have to reformat your internal storage memory then within TWRP or something. That might help.

I have done every kind of format in TWRP and PhilZ CWM to no avail. I was figuring to TOT and start from scratch, that should wipe all my partitions clean but I'm not sure. I might have created a permanent partition. I'm not sure. I KDZ a few nights ago and that did not work either....

Its alright man...I appreciate your help, at least I know I'm not crazy or making a noob mistake lol!!!

i was just grabbing some files for personal backup from autoprimes host, and i noticed a "primaryGPT.img". as far as i know, that should be the partition file. im not sure how to use it as is, but it should mean the stock 10b tot will re-write the partitions.

@bweN diorD.....thank you so much for your help man! I'm just loving CM12 right now, even on this messed up phone!! I will TOT later and report back...so at least if it happens to someone else they can fix it....::good::

@bweN diorD I TOT back to 10b stock, rooted and installed supersu. in my /sdcard i have 24 Gigs of space. It didnt clear the mystery partition(s?). I dont know what else to do....except ADB....and im not super familiar with dd commands. It seems like im SOL. I cant believe nobody else has had this problem.

Are you on cm 12 again? Did you look at this screen when you were stock?
This is very strange. It makes you wonder what flashing the TOT really does.
---------- Post added 12th December 2014 at 12:05 AM ---------- Previous post was 11th December 2014 at 11:56 PM ----------
AOSP reports the storage space you have left after the ROM has taken up is portion. For example on my 32gb moto x it shows 26.34gb total space and 23.55 available. My nexus 7 also shows less than the total.
That said I find it hard to believe your ROM takes up 6gb. So again, you're dealing with something strange.

[Q] I'm getting E:can't mount /emmc/ when trying to flash. How do I fix this?

Basically, I went to flash AOKP and a a fluxi kernel update today since I hadn't updated in a week and when I went to choose the file from the internal SD card, I'm getting the message: "E:Can't find /emmc/"
I have no clue how this would happen at all nor how to fix and I don't have an external SD card. Anyone know anything about this or how to fix it?
Sorry, I can't help
But I am in the same boat....
Try reflashing the orginal firmware and bootloader. It worked for me on my mytouch 4g.

have you tried selecting install from sdcard instead of specifying the internal?
depends on what kernel you are on as to what the sdcard mapping is.....

Thanks for all the support guys. Looks like I should have stayed up a little later.
I'm downloading the stock stuff now and I'll see how that goes.
@pirateghost- I can get the ROM on and flash through the sdcard, but the external card won't mount through CWM. It's also having different issues once I am running the ROM (Gallery not showing images, but showing music... weird stuff). I'm not totally effed, but I would like to have my access back.
That's if I understand your suggestion.
Thanks again guys.

Well, I found one in creepyncrawly's signature but I'm hesitant to use it...
(If I did use it though, would I throw it in the .tar file and change the .ini file for odin?)

I'm not sure all hope is lost.
I think that I just have a limited understanding of the situation...
So I'm back to the stock ROM and the gallery app picks up the photos on my sd card. Not only that, but esfile explorer says that there is a /sdcard/external_sd/ path and allows me access to it. Plays music and all that stuff. Pretty cool, huh?
So at that point (last time and the time before that) I was tempted to root, which I did using zedomax/odin. All went fine, but that's when I lost access to the external card. Again.
Weird.

[RECOVERY][Nexus One][FULL TOUCH] TWRP 2.2.1 with on-screen keyboard! [2012-08-05]

While twrp 2.x has been out on a large number of devices, since our team never had a N1 it's been absent from our list. Now we are happy to serve up a version to the last Nexus device on our list.
Team Win Recovery Project 2.2, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. It’s a fully touch driven user interface – no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
Phone look:
Tablet look:
v2.2.1 - various bugfixes and HTC Dumlock support now built in for latest hboots that don't support flashing to /boot.
CHANGELOG (for 2.2.0):
- On-screen keyboard in recovery! -- supports long press, backspace repeat, and swipe left deletes everything left of the cursor
- Name new backups and rename existing backups
- Rename files and folders in the file manager
- Pseudo-terminal emulator
- Support decrypting an encrypted data partition on Galaxy Nexus (enter password using keyboard)
- Backup archive splitting -- allows backup and restore of data partitions larger than 2GB
- Simplified XML layout support between resolutions
- Added dual storage selection radio buttons to zip install, backup, and restore pages
- Improved zip install compatibility
- Updated update-binary source code
- Numerous small bug fixes and improvements
DOWNLOAD:
The fastest and easiest way to install TWRP is to use the GooManager app

BUGS:
If you have found a bug, please consider posting it to our github issues log. It's pretty much impossible for us to keep up with the more than 30 threads that we have for the devices that we "directly" support. If you have a significant problem that cannot be answered in this thread, your best bet is to PM me directly, contact us via our website, or find us in our IRC channel below. If you see someone that's struggling, feel free to point it out to us. We need your help to help us keep track of all of our devices! Thanks!
SUPPORT:

Glad you like it. I know it's a little late to the party, but I figured better late than never.
I must say I was pretty sceptical this could be better than 4ext, but I am pleasantly surprised how much I like it. It is my new favorite recovery for now.....till I need to reformat my SD ext....4ext just does that better. To not have to wipe the fat partition is invaluable to me...but maybe that will be a possibility one day too. I really prefer every other aspect of this over 4ext though...very well done!

Thanks! It's been in dev for little over a year now on different devices. As for sd-ext, we'd be happy to merge a pull request with a better method, but given that most newer devices have large amounts of internal storage it's not likely we'll get to it anytime soon.
But twrp is 100% open source and we are more than happy to get people started compiling!

Im no developer and dont know what a pull request is, but the difference I am speaking of lies in 4EXT's ability to re-partition the SD card either completely (which this also does) or only the ext partition and leaves the FAT partition untouched (which this does not do). What that would entail is way beyond anything I could hope to know or figure out, but Im certain it can be done. Again, thanks for your hard work on this and for bringing it to us!

Sorry I was not clear, with 4EXT you can re-partition JUST the ext partition without completely wiping the whole card. So you can actually change partition size, type, etc....without reformatting the who SD card.

That's interesting as most methods of repartitioning a disk cause the entire disk to be wiped. I know there are some ways around it though, but we haven't looked at them I don't think.

4EXT is the only one Ive heard of....is very nice too.
So, basically, it is just adjusting the content of the partition table to make it smaller (or use any other "free" space after the FAT partition, and then to format the new partition.
Reminds me of all the old DOS based (i.e. ranish?) partition manager tools...basically a lot of low level manipulation of the data in the partition table.

Glad you figured it out. The issue has been that goo.im had a mishap when updating their hardware. So a lot of data was lost. Our other download on teamw.in should point to a backup source at techerrata files.
I've been using 4ext for a long time but I recently discovered twrp (installed it on my Kindle and love it). One question before I put it on my N1: Are my nandroid backups from 4ext forward-compatible with twrp? E.g. Will twrp be able to restore old backups?
Thanks for all your work!

[RELEASED!] ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.1.5 for ATT Optimus G [tethered]

Well, hallo there!
It's been a while since I've posted a release thread on XDA... I've been lurking in the shadows (and on IRC) for quite some time.
Here, I present to you a teaser of things to come:
ClockworkMod Recovery (non-touch) 6.0.1.5 for the AT&T Optimus G.
What is this?
This is a "recovery" for your phone, it allows you to install custom ROMs, back up your phone, fix it when it breaks, and much more.
This specific version is "ClockworkMod", which was created by the CyanogenMod team and Koush.
There are many recovery versions out there, I have picked ClockworkMod because it is very easy to compile and debug.
I will compile other recoveries as time permits.

Click to collapse
Where can I get it?
UPDATE: I am now providing download links.
Please go here to download it: http://downloads.codefi.re/thecubed/lgoptimusg/att/recoveries/
Note: this is a "tethered" build of CWM, as you can not flash it. You must use fastboot to boot the image every time you wish to enter recovery.
This is due to the locked bootloader on this device.
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE DOING ANYTHING!
This is *not* safe, and should *not* be done by anyone unsure of what they are doing.
I will post links once I have ironed out bugs, but I WILL NOT SUPPORT anyone using it to modify their phone.
Please don't use this if you don't know how to LGNPST your phone back from the dead, should you accidentally kill it.
(Also, I will find somewhere to mirror LGNPST and the related files, as I can't host them from my server due to legal reasons. I will, however, mirror the .TOT file in case LG decides to take it down.)

Here's a (semi-arty) pic of it running on my Optimus G:
And, here's a video for extra proof
Luckily the video quality isn't potato, but the audio sure is. My explanation is that my HTC Vivid doesn't like me. An engineer's explanation would be that I was speaking softly, as it was 1:30AM at the time of recording, and the phone merely decided that my meek volume was purely background noise... at least, I think that's what an engineer would say, as I haven't graduated yet.

I think this thread is for AT&T version, here's International.
Although placeholder threads are generally not allowed in the Dev section, we will allow this one, as the OP has stated he will provide the link if asked. (He does not want people to brick their device.)
Woot, so I patched CWM with a little homegrown patch to enable you to mount the external SD card.
This is necessary since CWM disables USB mounting by default on devices with an internal storage card that is shared with the /data partition.
Here's the status update:
What works:
Backups to Internal and External SD card
Restore from Internal or External SD card
ADB Shell Access
Battery charging (it's part of the kernel, I merely verified it's working)
Volume Keys / Power Key
Zip install from internal/external SD
USB Mounting
(in theory) Wipe Data ***see note***
What doesn't works:
Softkeys
Party mode
***Note: I have NOT tested "Wipe Data" or "Format /data". I do not suggest you try either for the moment.
This is because the internal SD card resides in /data/media. Erasing /data has a chance of erasing your internal SD. There are checks in CWM for this, but until I investigate, let's just be safe. If you need to erase your phone, let the stock recovery do that.
I am still working on some instructions for a safe way to get into CWM without the potential of getting stuck in some unknown mode. I will write up the instructions tomorrow and post links to the recovery.
Thanks everyone for your kind words on IRC as well, I appreciate all your moral support!
Thats a great start.. i do hope it is possible for the Japanese (L-01E) Version.... though the Japanese version already has microSD card support up to 64GB via SDXC
Wow, this is awesome! Keep up the great work!
thanks for all the work, I look forward to this device as I am getting it today, I do have some background in Linux and could possibly be building a ROM soon.
I love you right now. So stoked.

[Help] loki for LG OPTIMUS F6

Hello everyone,
I was trying to compile loki with my aboot.img and boot.img, but it says "supportive device".
Is there a way we can get this device supportive? I don't know to much about finding the check_sigs and hdr. I have attached the aboot.img and boot.img if anyone is willing to help thanks!
PS: The password for the zip is "android"
Here is the GitHub for loki
https://github.com/djrbliss/loki
Are you really the only guy working on anything for this phone?

I will be helping him to I own this phone I have been trying to get cwm on this phone it is taking time though
I would totally donate to anyone who took the time to figure this phone out. When I went to the T-Mobile store, I was looking for the L9, which appears to have a strong modding community behind it, but they didn't have it in-store and I was in a pinch, so here I sit with a completely stock experience in my pocket. Not the worst stock experience, surely, but still stock.

lg f6 help...Please help save a guy from bricking!
So I apologize if Im posting in the wrong spot but I noticed yall are still working on the F6...so I figured this made sense...
I thought I knew exactly what I wasdoing but did not....I was lucky enough to find patience enough to read up before flashing...I see the threads posted on how to root, backup, and restore this phone...but all those threads explain it using so0ftware other than I have... Since I made some moves before truly knowing what I was doing...I'd like to just stick wiith what i got for the moment and see if yall, as the experts can guide me down the runway...
Heres What I have so far:
1. I DO have root access
2. I DO have SuperSU and it seems to be working in the sense that it keeps logs...but sometimes it gives me a binary error. (I have NOT et converted SuperSU into a system app...bc im unclear if its necessary after reading a few different threads)
3. I DO have Root Browser' which I use to shuffle things around. (I DO have the /system and /data folders relocated on my external SD)
4. I DO have Titanium Backup which I used to BU my USER APPS/SYSTEM DATA.
5. I DO have Flashify which I also used to BU my STOCK RECOVERY/KERNEL (I cant seem to figure out where that recovery is being default stored though...Ive been searching high and low.
NOTE: Although im happy I have made it this far...I dont wanna go any further until I know exactly what im doing. I fear that I have missed something small. Something that would be a no brainer to you experts.
I'm unclear of storage requirements...I BELIEVE that I must store all my rooted tools on the external bc the goal is to wipe everything NOT on ext SD.
What I THINK I know is that hypothetically since im backed up...or when im 100% certain everything is....I can just click REBOOT TO RECOVERY MODE under the menu using Titanium.
IF I happen to be correct up to that point....I think my next move is using Titanium to put back the things ive stored on my SD.
In my mind that leaves me with the same ROM...but without the fluff...and now the ability to save to ext SD.....
If I underestand right....currently there are no MOD upgrades available due to difficulty of unlocking the bootlag....or something that sounds likethat...
I have ZERO experience with any of this....I hope what I just shared is at least in the ballpark of the right direction..
THANK YOU for any and all help!

Love xda.....
Is the recovery in "clockworkmod" folder in internal or exteral sd (was on my Metro F6)
And
Have you found this .... MS500][F6] Freedom Kernel Overclocked by GameTheory?
Over at.... here
Its for Metro LG F6 but I already ran tmobile firmware on my metro f6 without any problems....
I hope I can place an external link, as I'm somewhat unclear on if I can or can't.
IF it is wrong, please remove. I've been a member since 06 (That's 2006) I should be able to do so?????
Recovering F6
I agree with MadeFree, that the recovery file should be found in the 'Clockwork Mod' folder, under External SD, when using File Manager. When in recovery mode it should automatically bring up your Rom-backup when you click on Recover from External / (creation date) file name / yes to confirm.
Also, I use the F6 and I have bricked it multiple times while trying to figure out what i can actually do on it, as it only currently has a custom recovery made for it. I have been trying to figure out myself how to recover all the apps, files, pics, videos, etc. when i have to flash to STOCK Rom during brick. Currently, my solution for this was not found in the 'nano-droid backup' (i have been led to believe it could be recovered in RECOVERY MODE) but rather in an app called ROM toolbox from Google store. This does so much more than Titanium Backup does but i still use titanium for backing up a single application if needed. Rom toolbox can also save a copy of the Kernel as well as monitor your apps, make CPU tweaks, make backups using Google drive and much more. But the easiest way I have found for me may be different for you. Currently, my only reliable solution for recovering my data is using ZIP ME, (downloaded from the ROM toolbox app) as well as backing everything up using Google drive. The zip files are nice when not near my computer though. All i have to do after booting up the 'factory reset' is open file manager and look for my zips.
do not be afraid to soft brick (looping, freezes, crashes) when all you have to do is factory reset your phone using key combo or use the firmware followed in from the link provided by Madefree, down below.

I'd flash all to be on the safe side. Not 100% sure where the problem is
---------- Post added at 02:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:48 PM ----------
did you flash the latest SU?
You probably messed with /system folder.
I am making a zip file. All you have to make /system RW and put these two folders there.

I did flash the latest SU @ stevepick2 @mingkee thanks for the files
I just realized what happened! i was playing around with the mixer_path.xml to boost the volumes and probably i accidentally edited something that broke audio. Didnt bother fixing it anymore, went down the street to the TMO Store and had it replaced lol. I was still under the 14 day return/replace policy.

Words of advice:
Make a copy to memory card before doing editing just in case getting messed up.
You didn't set permissions maybe? Happened to me occasionally when doing audio mods on G3. Just fix permissions and reboot should fix.
