[Q] Nexus 6 Window or View Case - Nexus 6 Accessories

Hi Everyone,
I see a lot of reviews and information about flip cases but I cannot seem to find any sign of a Window or View Case for the Nexus 6.
Something similar to this which is for the Nexus 5:
http://www.amazon.com/Protective-In...=1418759266&sr=1-4&keywords=nexus+window+case
I had one of these cases for my G2 that was open to the screen. Another for my S5 with touch sensitive glass on it. I am surprise one does not exist especially with the lack of a functioning notification light (out of the box). I feel like there would be a small niche for this to help resolve the notification issue or give users an alternative. I am not even looking for anything rugged. Just a folio with a window.
Has anyone spotted anything?

Graphics Skins for Gtab..$10.95.. lots of selection

Found this the other day in my parousing for accesories for the tab but noticed it hadn't been posted here.... decent selection, close to 300 designs.... Stupid cheap... about time i've been looking for a while for more than just the carbon fiber ones.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ViewSonic-G-Tab...tem2a11553fb8&clk_rvr_id=245990579742&afsrc=1
I ordered one of these and in discussion if they had any alternative's that had more of an astronomy type back ground the person i was in email contact with indicated they could make these as customs with a pic that you provided. If that interests any one contact them and see what they might could do for you.
Holy macaroni.
http://www.ridicgraphics.com/2011/designs/viewsonicgtablet/
The first thing I noticed is that 99% of these "skins" are in portrait mode. I use my gTab in mostly landscape mode.
The second thing I noticed is that there is no link to the wallpapers for these "G-Tablet Skins" for you to download and use to blend with the skin on the bezel of the gTab after you purchase and apply one of these. I saw there are wallpaper links for other devices but couldn't find one for the gTab.
So this may be exciting for some folks but I didn't find it useful. What I would find interesting would be skins that could look good in either portrait or landscape mode (like the carbon fiber skin I already have).
Also, since I have my gTab in a CLIP case about 85% of the time I seldom think about the skins anymore.
If you want the skin in landscape just ask them. I'm sure they'll accomodate they offered me the ability to make a cutom from a pic that i sent them... i wanted an astronomy theme.. but decided on #246 ...
the back ground.. you download the one for the NOOK color list under "ebooks"... it's an android tablet after all... (you'll have to do some creative cropping to get it to fit right)
I can't find a way to lock the wallpaper in landscape, is that possible? In other words, I want to be able to use my tablet in portraite mode but have the wallpaper still be in landscape mode so it still matches the skin.
I havn't figured out a way... may be there is an app that allows you to have multiple wallpapers... one for landscape and one for portrait...I remember seeing something along those lines somewhere... it may be a feature that is specific to certian Launchers also.. did a quick search and there was an app but it wasn't rated very well...

yeah i saw that somewhere too i thinks its something like multipicturelive or something.......
HOLY COW!!!!!
If the selection from the Ebay dealer listed above wasn't quiet what you're looking for.. a shlew of skins turned up in a search on Amazon this AM... check it out... a bit more pricey.. $17.95 ,still not bad compared to the $30 selection we used to have.... but a TON more designs......
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...VIEWSONIC+GTABLET+SKIN&ie=UTF8&qid=1310642213
Did anyone get theirs made? How did it come out? Does it cover the sides like the carbon fibers do? I only ask because I just bought a P3 case on eBay and everything's going to be covered (even the left speaker ) except the sides where the power button is and the other side. Thanks if anyone can help
has anyone gotten these yet and tried them out? i really want to know about the quality and stuff cuase i was interested
I got #246 the grill looking one from the ebay store.. and no it doesn't cover the sides.. there is about a 1/16 inch (1.5mm) around the perimiter on both the front and back... wich is desirable on the back, keeps it from picking up and collecting dust and swarf... the front is ok.. i would look better benig all the way out to the edge.. but the guys at ridic graphics (ebay store) said that they were having issues with people stretching them while they were putting them on that's why they cut the perimiter in a bit.. graphics look pretty good.. not grainny at all... applied easy enough, though a second set of hands made it easier, someone holding the skin up while you locate it is ideal...... over all i'm satisfied...
thinking of seriously getting one from the amazon store because of the astronomy backround selections they have.. if i do i'll comment on them as well...
About time someone started making these. Anyone have a picture of the fit quality once its installed?
I posted some pics in my original thread on Android tablets forum...
they show the bo-bo'd bezel cut line but Ridic graphics sent me a replacement that makes the gap around the top skin more uniform..

Anyone come from the Note 10.1?

Hey everyone, I'm loving the Nexus 10 right now but I'm not sure it fits my needs perfectly. Did anyone come from the Note 10.1? What were your impressions of it compared to the Nexus? I'm really torn right now. I'm a student, so I would definitely use the pen.

I gave up my Note 10.1 for a Nexus 10 and overall i'm glad I did. I love the screen on the Nexus 10, perfect for watching movies on. With the Note the screen was always a bit dim when watching movies.
I do miss TouchWiz because I found the launcher much more smoother than Google Stock however I'm using Apex on the Nexus 10 and it's so impressive. All in all very pleased I made the switch. :good:
Have you tried using a capacitive stylus on the Nexus? I ordered one from amazon, still waiting for my actual nexus to arrive but I'm looking forward to using it -- I'm also a student and will be taking tons of notes on it. I've seen plenty of my fellow students using iPad with a capacitive stylus to take notes on and they all love it -- I ordered a much thinner tipped stylus and I'm hoping that will be a good fit for writing.
Anyways, I don't have experience with the note but if you miss the pen then perhaps a thin tipped stylus for the N10 will be good?

I previously had the Note 10.1 and find the Nexus 10 a far nicer piece of kit. Speedwise, I couldn't tell the difference but the build quality of the Note wasn't great with the chassis creaking on occasion! Also, I didn't think that the 10.1 screen was terribly good even by 1280x800 standards.

Really? After seeing alot of 800p tablets on display in a shop, I thought the Note 10.1 screen looked noticeably better than all of them. Especially the colour saturation and black level.

I thought so. I had a Transfomer Prime at the time as well and thought the display in that was far nicer. This being said, I'm no expert and my opinion is certainly subjective! However, the build quality of the Note 10 was definitely inferior - never happy when a tablet bends slightly and creaks whilst doing so!
I came from the Note 10.1 and enjoyed it a lot. The spen does add to a very solid tablet. Drawing with it was pretty amazing, very precise. It was smooth and performed very well for me. Only reason I left was due to the standard screen and slow charge (yes I know its the same for N10 but its only because they haven't released the Pogo Pin charger yet). I wanted an HD screen. When N10 came out and read of the specs similar to Note 10.1 but newer /faster Exynos chip and the best [email protected] I was sold.
**This topic has also already been discussed to death. Please lets not start this over again. If you searched you would easily find the answers your looking for by the way.

Writing on the nexus 10 with a capacitive stylus will be extremely uncomfortable since you will have to hold your hand/arm above the glass constantly. The note 10.1 has a digitizer therefore you can rest your hand on the glass and it ignores the skin touch and only picks up the pen touch.
Imagine trying to write on a piece of paper with your hand and arm hovering above the paper the whole time = impossible

I think you can if the developer codes it into their apps. But it'd have to be pretty genius to get it working properly.

The Note 10.1 is the most complete tablet experience on the market right now bar none. Its only downside is the 720P display. It's as fast and fluid (on JB) as the N10 and gets better battery life because of the lower res display. As a student multiview, S-Pen/S-Note, and some of the other features could make a huge difference in your productivity. The N10 is a better value and a better consumption device but as a productivity and creation device nothing compares to the Note. And there's no combination of third party apps or dev tweaks that will change that.
Here's a list of features on the Note not on the N10. You can decide how meaningful any of them are based on what you use your tablet for. I'm a huge productivity user and would only give up the Note to get another Note with a FHD display.
- Multiview (enhanced in JB)
- Pop up play
- S-Pen/S-Note
- AllShare Play and Cast
- Enhanced camera features (smile/face/blink detection, buddy shot)
- Mini apps (enhanced in JB)
- Enhanced audio and video codec support
- IR port
- Browser h/w acceleration
- S-Voice (added in JB)
- Air View (added in JB)
- Group Cast (added in JB)
Here's a list of some more new features in JB. Some are really cool and can't be replicated on any other tablet (even via third party apps).
Video Air View – Preview videos without opening them. View future/past scenes in a playing video via the timeline without stopping it.
Photo Air View – Pictures contained in folders will display in thumbnails when you hover over the folder. They advance nine at a time.
E-Mail Air View – Hover the pen over a heading or contents of an e-mail summary (including via the widget) to see an exploded view of the contents without opening it.
S-Planner Air View – Hover the pen over an event or task to see an exploded view without opening it.
Pop Up Note – Tap the screen twice with the S-Pen button depressed and a pop up note will be displayed. Even on the lock screen when the device is locked. On the N8000, if you’re in a call and remove the S-Pen from its holder, a pop up note automatically opens.
Easy Clip – Capture anything on the display (lasso) anywhere and save it to the clipboard or send it an application (including S-Note).
Draw/Write on an e-mail – As it says.
Draw/Write in S-Planner – As it says (Month View only)
Color Picker – In S-Note, set the ink color to a color selected from a picture.
Pen Switch – Select multiple pen types (color, texture, weight) and toggle through them without opening the menu by pressing the button on the S-Pen once.
Sketch Affect – Change any picture to an outline, color sketch, pencil sketch and more from within S-Note.
Share S-Notes – Convert S-Notes to plain text, PDFs, or pictures and share them via Facebook etc. in one step.
Photo Note – Write personal notes on the back of photos
Gallery Organizer – Create folders and drag and drop pictures between them.
Quick Gestures - Open apps and perform functions by writing on the display.
And the display on the Note is better than the N10's at brightness and contrast. So living with it isn't as painful as some make it seem.
My Nexus 10 comes next week finally! :victory:
So yh I'll definitely be doing some comparison videos of Nexus 10 vs Note 10.1 as I've seen quite a few threads comparing the two.
So I ended up selling my nexus 10 and getting the note. So far I am really happy with My choice, this Seems like the perfect tabletfor my needs. I will say, I Miss the screen a little.

I think not.
On the Note-series Samsung are using Wacom technology - both on the screen and on the pen.
Your normal touchscreen is capacitive. And so are the Notes.
BUT they also add a inductive screen layer - that's what triggering the pen.
By charging a magnetic field above the screen - which charges the pen and makes it function, you can decide if you want both capacitive and inductive touch - or just one input signal.
I have the Note 2 and it's really good and some differences between the Note pen and a standard stylus is that the Note pen is pressure-sensitive - up to 1024 zones of pressure. It also registers HOW you're holding the pen, laying it down, using it straight down, and more.
Not forgetting Airview - you can hover the pen over objects and it will function as you would do with your mouse on your computer - popup menus are working on everyday websites, you can preview movie scenes in the timeline, and so on.
A normal stylus is just a replacement for your finger.
being someone who has no interest in the spen, my major yearning for the note 10.1 is the multiview capability. I am a big youtube watcher and i constantly find my self wanting to use gtalk or the web browser while watching a video on my current tablet. With the huge resolution of the nexus 10, it seems the like the PERFECT tablet for that feature. That being said, has anyone worked on trying to get the multiview capability ported to other devices? I mean I am sure its 100% software implementation, so it seems possible to add it to a custom ROM. Just wondering if there has been any work or even if anyone has looked into this?

This. A thousand times this. I have zero issues with my N10, but I'm mildly envious of the Note 10.1 for multiview. I'm guessing the next Note with a higher res screen will be the "best of both worlds", but alas, I'm not willing to wait. Hoping Google pilfers this feature and builds it into Key Lime Pie.
You would be surprised how much you use the spen. I am converted.

Once you start using it you're pretty much hooked. I replaced a Teg3 One X I was happy with for a Note II so I could get S-Pen on my phone and share S-Note's between my devices. The Note 10.1 got ****ty reviews because very few reviewers "got it" or spent any time trying to. Of all the devices I've owned the two Notes are the most complicated to figure out if you intend to fully use all their features. I was still finding things weeks after I got the 10.1. And if those things don't matter people should by the N10 because it's cheaper, easier, and a better pure consumption device.
The Note 10.1 is by far the better tablet if you're looking to use a stylus at all. I've only had the TF101 and the GN10.1, but the difference between the a capacitive stylus (like the adonit jot) and the spen is ridiculously large. You'll kick yourself for thinking that the capacitive stylii you see on the market are anywhere near as useful as the wacom stylii (which of course, require a wacom interface built within the tablet).
On the other hand, if you care only about browsing videos, pictures, and surfing the web, there's no point in paying more for a stylus you won't use.
Bottom line is that you shouldn't listen to the idiot reviewers who didn't use the Note 10.1 as its intended audience. They were all just looking for iPad-esque tablets and not looking at what the Note 10.1 really is.

Smart window style cover

http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/accessories/style-cover-scr24/#copper
I've been looking at these, launching in November.
I'm really in 2 minds about them though.
I don't generally buy cases & hate all the flapping about to answer calls etc.
What are you guys thoughts on the smart cover?
I don't usually like these type of flip covers. However, the official flip covers for the Samsung S5 were great. Really good build quality, and a nice feel to them.
It's hard to be able to make a judgement when the case isn't released yet, so I'll be waiting to see some more photos and reviews before shelling out on one of these, as they're hardly a budget offering.
Looking at a couple of videos on YouTube, it looks like these cases will attach with a kind of adhesive? I'm yet to be convinced.
Not a fan.. The flap is always there which is the problem with these in my opinion.
I decided to buy one of these cases.
Let me tell you right now... I hate cases. I've never had a case for a single one of my devices.
However, I was a little annoyed at how scratched the rear of my Xperia Z became.
Been using this case for a few days now & it's great.
It doesn't attach to the case in the normal way, it 'sticks' to a large strip on the inside rear of the case.
I've removed & replaced the phone numerous times & it's had no effect on the stickiness of the strip at all.
There's no side protection to the case so it's not going to give much on the side of impact protection if dropped.
The style window is awesome though.
You can set multiple lock screen widgets to it to flick through when closed. Closing with screen on switches to style window widget for a few seconds & opening unlocks the screen.
Text notifications are shown on the window & incoming calls can be answered by swiping the window without opening. If a call is placed on the phone the case can be closed with caller id & swipe to hang up on the style window.
The case can be folded behind easily & there's access for all buttons & flaps & can also be placed on magnetic charging dock while closed (included with the case is a dock adapter for case width).
Swiping the camera icon on the window or holding the camera hard button down allows to take pictures while showing camera preview on the style window without opening the case.
Playing music is also shown on the style window with track buttons.
The slimness adds next to nothing on phone thickness.
I'm quite impressed with it tbh.
Is that the only official case available to buy? Or is the wireless charging cover for sale now too?
I just bought one of these cases and I'm waiting for it to arrive. Couldn't find one for sale in Canada so I bought from the UK. I had one like this for my LG G2, but it snapped on the back. The quick window is a necessity for me.

It does attach with a large sticky pad.
The phone comes off easily leaving no residue on the back of the phone.
I've removed the phone numerous times & it's had no adverse effect of the stickiness of the pad.

Hi, i have one if these but cant read text messages in the window as you are supposed to be able to do. I can see a notification but have to open the cover to read it.
U did the NFC thing and downloaded and set the theme, the box is ticked in the read notifucation in the security settings.
Did you have to do anything extra to read texts in the window?
Thanks.
I don't see the contents of messages either, just message alert.

Will do.
So I bought this Case from Sony directly in Copper.
It shines a bit so it looks a little gay.
For the rest I can confirm what the others said. It is small so your phone won't get that much thicker.
The smartwindow function is pretty cool.
I wish there would be a magnet to keep it closed and have it more straight on the phone because sometimes you have to press the case a little more on the screen to get the touch responsiveness.
I am very happy with it.
I bought the DK48 Dockingstation too and will add details on how it fits with the case when I got it.

Hi, got a response from Sony, to view messages in the window you have to set hangouts as the default messaging app then use the hangouts widget in the window to view messages.

I too got mine today (quite mad for Sony to have kept us waiting this long - and given the two day delivery, Amazon has clearly got these from elsewhere in the EU so they're probably STILL not on sale in the UK officially yet).
I got mine in copper, to match the phone. Let me just say this - DON'T GET COPPER! It is indeed quite shiny and actually looks quite tacky, but having waited so long I decided to unpack it and set it up, so I guess I'm stuck with it.
If you have the copper phone, I'd say go for black. It will contrast nicely and look a whole lot more professional. This case looks like something you'd get from a market.
As has been said elsewhere, including YouTube video reviews, the cover doesn't sit flat unless it's flat on a desk - and even then it raises up a bit because there's no magnet or sufficient weight in the front cover to hold it down.
I downloaded the app and basically it's just like a lock screen with the usual lock screen widgets. No major problem there, and from the home panel you can also launch the camera in a mini view - but it also takes 4:3 pictures and doesn't let you change modes. I assume it uses the superior auto mode, but it doesn't say if it detects the scene or anything. Frankly, just use the normal camera button if I were you.
It also comes with a new dock insert, which is good. You keep the cover closed when it's docked, unlike the Roxfit flip cover (that also acts as a stand, which this does not because it's glued on the back of the phone) and when it's docked, the cover falls forward a bit - which isn't exactly helping stop it gradually getting looser and looser. And I used a Daydream 'screen saver' on the phone before, to show a clock and weather. It still loads, but as you might have expected - it doesn't resize and is now useless. There's no Xperia Daydream mode so the best thing I've found so far is Timely and using that to show the time/date.
As for the way it's stuck on the back.. I removed my rear film protector as I didn't want that peeling off with the cover - but even now it doesn't feel like a rock solid adhesion. If I dropped this phone, would it realistically hold in the case? I expect not and most likely it will fly off if you did drop it.
Worse still, if I want to take it out of the case then how many times will I be able to re-stick the case to the phone before the glue has all gone? There's no way to change this, so are you supposed to just bin it and buy another one? To me it seems like an insane way to connect to the phone. Why not the usual grips around the edge? To keep it thin? That could come at a huge cost.
Anyway, despite all the negativity I've just pointed out, it's quite nice to have the window showing key info at a glance (and to finally turn the screen on/off by opening the cover) - but you do still need to open the cover to do anything beyond seeing a notification or info on a widget (e.g. BBC News headlines). Given how few are likely to sell, don't expect loads of developers to be queuing up to modify apps to show through the small window either. What you get now is probably what you'll ever get.
That said, if anyone does find any other good apps/widgets that work well with this cover then please do post here. I can't help but feel this case will drop in price fairly quickly.
Edit: Another thing; when a call comes in, you can answer from the window - but with the cover on the proximity sensor obviously can't work. Thus you can't get the screen back on (it had gone off on mine, presumably after the usual timeout) without opening the phone, or using the power button.
I got this case the other day and so far I have mixed feelings. I like how thin the case is but I don't like that there is plastic in the window. I had an LG G2 quick view case on my last phone and the window was empty. This made using the screen with the cover closed a lot easier. Also the window plastic gets very dirty.
Lastly, my biggest complaint is that when you have the front flap open and flipped around to the back it covers the camera. So with this case you can only take full screen pictures with the case hanging open. This may seem minor but I feel like it is these little oversights that make a big difference. I really expected more from a Sony made case.
For the widgets, Zooper Widget shows up in the list so you can use that to make a lot of interesting widgets. Also Media Utilities. I have also found that Plex, Yahoo Weather, podcast addict and hoopla widgets work in the window.
"The first time you use Style Cover Window SCR24, you establish a connection to your Xperia™ Z3 and get the opportunity to download dedicated smart window widgets and apps. This makes it possible for you to decide exactly what happens when you open and close the cover. Customize and enjoy smart window functions the way you want them".
Get the opportunity? Hm...
Where to get it?
I did not discover any widgets and apps on Google Play . Only themes...

I downloaded the app and basically it's just like a lock screen with the usual lock screen widgets

What app do you mean? From where did you downloaded? Please provide a link
Guys just wondering, does your screen turn off when you close the case? I can't find the magnetic sensor on my Z3 dual. Do you still need to pair this case via NFC?

[Q] Back camera protection?

hello all note 3 user there.. we know its a awesome device with an awesome design and camera is brilliant! but one thing that is annoying is that the back camera sticks out and doenst allow the phone to sit/sleep straight without touching the camera area or part (without cases or very think casing). anyone has DIY idea or any idea where to get the protector? last year when i bought a secondhand note 3 it has a small metal 'O' ring attached around the flash there and its good cause it help to lift the camera part up and it doesnt touch the lens when i put it on the table but i cant find that small metal 'O' ring anywhere..
cheers!

Samsung notes lack in handwriting recognition

I did test the s6 at a retailer and I noticed that the Samsung Notes App did not recognize my handwriting in landscape mode at a specific place. It was when I did get closer with my palm to the edge (with power and volume button on the upper side).
At the middle kind of a little bit to the right there seems to be a blind spot where writing/drawing is not recognized in first place. Only after second or third attempt and then it seems like the recognition of the pressure is half off.
Don't know if the bright light from above or a already often used spen causes this.
Can any owner confirm?
Picture is attached (left space is empty because I did not encounter issues there)

Looks just like mine in this post. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80372311&postcount=16
Was it in a case or something else with magnets?

HAH.
Yes indeed it was on a stand with a magnet on top to hold the device. And that field where i could not draw would fit the size of that magnet..
Unbelivable that you have to keep such things in mind when you want to you a tablet with that price...
Does Apple have such problems with their ipad series? Im so much struggling in the decision if apple or samsung. Im a Android guy and would like to keep my Android world but i want a performant device which does not have childhood injuries like that....

It isn't the tablet, but the case/holder.
I have two cases. One which the tab slips in to a holder—no probs there.
My other case holds the tab (very securely) with a magnet—therefore the dead spot. Love this case, except for the dead spot ceated by the stting magnet. This an awesome case in every other way, especially because there is nothing blocking the sides of the tablet, no edge swipe issues, et al.
So, I've just accepted that if I want to do any serious S-pen writing or drawing I have to either go case-less, or switch to the other one.
