Well I just got my phone rooted and unlocked for sprint. Paid a guy 50 to do it and I noticed that my google play store won't work correctly. He deleted a file that also stopped the unmovable notification to do the OTA system update so I wouldn't press it. How can I re add the file/service
My phone is LS990
Software version is the ZV4
Build number is the KVT49L.LS990ZV4
Android Version 4.4.2
my girlfriend also just had her phone rooted and unlocked any was that I could pull the file from her G3 and put it on mine?
Any help is greatly appreciated

If you know the file name, you should be able to use a root file explorer to find the file on her phone, copy it to an SD card (or mail it to your phone), and then copy it to the same location on your phone. Be sure permissions on the file after you copy it are set the same as on her phone, then reboot.

Ok thanks nice post. But how can j install a custom rom (Alien) without Sprint activation?
Living in Greece using, best android device with stock rom.
Just an update for everyone who has applied this. I tried to update OTA today to the latest version and I got the error as described in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18389195&postcount=18
Need to find these files somehow to apply the updates.
I did very easy thing, since i tired to wait sprint activating. Root your device, go to /system/app/ and delete all files that are starting with sprint****. Reboot after that. You ll see how quickly your phone will work at all!

I would suggest not to delete the files, but rename them instead. Adding a .bak or .save is ok. This way, when an android update comes, you will not run into problems cause the installer can't find the stock distribution as it is supposed to be. Before the update, just return the files to their original names and the update should go smooth.
to the international users here
recenlty after updatin to latest OTA
i keep losing signal, and my phone switches to CDMA on its own
texts come in large bunches (when i get signal back)
really annoying

what is the "lock screen" ?
What is the "lock screen" on Suroky's post ?
I am trying to "unlock" the photon so that I can use it with other GSM telecom carrier such as fido in Canada . Is there any instruction on how to unlock the photon ? Will this "skip sprint activation easy way" unlock it ?
Also , I cannot delete the 2 files
SprintOMADMConnMoPlugin.apk
SprintOMADMConnMoPlugin.odex
I am on adb shell , and when do
rm SprintOMADMConnMoPlugin.apk
rm SprintOMADMConnMoPlugin.odex
it is they are read-only , what should i do ?
I used the photon-torpedo.tar to root the phone .
I am a new to all this android hacking things. Please help.
Nice

I have a US AT&T GSII and unfortunately they don't allow the access to the Network Operator Selection menu, so I'm told if I replace a file and restore it'll get the menu access back for me.
Can anyone who is on the STOCK Galaxy S II International version send me a copy of the file apns-conf.xml from the /system/etc directory via PM or post on here?
I think there's a way to extract it from the Stock ROM, but I can't find that on here, and don't know how to extract just that file.
Thanks

I have the ATT version, that's why I want the file from someone who has a SGSII International to send the file, because it's not on my version, hence why I asked here, hehe. Did you read my post entirely? It explains it.
Thanks!

I am on stock KI8 and found a copy of the apns-conf.xml file in /etc (not /system/etc). For what it's worth, here is the file.
Hope it works for you - I'd love to know.

Thanks. How would I implement this into my stock ROM so I don't have to start over? And will this unlock the search screen?

You said in your first post that you just needed to copy this file in. To do this you will need a file manager that will let you have write access to the root directory. Root Explorer will do this, but your phone will need to be rooted if it is not already. There are plenty of guides in this forum on how to do this, but my preference is just to flash the appropriate Chainfire cfroot kernel.
Please also note that once you root your phone your warranty will be void, although there are also guides on the forum about how you can go about bringing it back to stock. Many of the carrier specific stock ROMs are also posted in the forum.
Before you do any of this though, you should note your current ROM details as listed in Settings/About Phone, and after you have rooted, but before doing anything else, you should perform a CWM backup.
Once you have done the copy, I would think you would need to re-boot your phone for anything to take effect, but I can't give you any guarantee that it will work (or not).

I was already rooted and unlocked. Simply doing these two things in themselves don't unlock ATT's locked manual network selection screen. I even tried deleting the CSC directory and files per GTG, and I replaced the APNs Config File, and rebooted, the manual network selection menu is still locked. :-( I'm beginning to wonder if this is hopeless. :-(
hey, i got a virgin mobile s2 yesterday and i rooted and unlocked with
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13715727
and galaxy s unlock on the market.
im assuming it went well since i have the yellow triangle and my rogers sim now works.
i got root explorer and followed instructions on making "local.prop" in data with "ro.camera.sound.forced=0" but it hasnt been working.
is there any known problems with my type of combination
Virgin
XWKDD_insecure.tar
or any other help at all?
Im totally new to this and i dont want to mess anything up by using another rom or something because i need it before a flight tomorrow morning.
You could delete the following using root explorer:
/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg
/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click_short.ogg
/system/media/audio/ui/Shutter_01.ogg
That way you delete the audio file the camera uses. If you don't want to do it as a permanent solution, you could backup the files if you want to restore them.
hmm i already tried to rename those files in root explorer but i got a no permission error. but your post brought me back to it and i successfully renamed them after turning on "mount r/w".
Thanks! lol
Although it would have been cool to keep the sounds and only make it silent when it was in silent mode :/
Hi all,

Didnt work. still no access to settings menu.
Hey
A user has sent me the settings.apk, bur it hasnt worked, it finishes the instalation with the msg "Application is not installed"...I believe I'll have to reinstall 2.3.5 (brasilian versionagain... I saw lots of threads talking about it, but since I'm not familiar with this it will be hard to find the right one?
Could you please point me the right thread to follow?? Is there a step by step?
Thanks,
Fernando
You don't install system apks, you push them to /system/app, or drop them in there manually with a file explorer that has root access (root explorer, es file explorer, et cetera). User-installed apps live in the /data partition.
Make sure you have the matching settings.odex in /system/app as well.
Sent from my XT910 using xda premium
Hummmm.. i hope this will help u
Great...
I'll try that, but I also need the ".odex" as for razr 2.3.5 as well.
MAX6500, could you send me your ".odex" file too??
Thanks
Hi all,
I'm facing similar issues...
I stupidly deleted some system files which I had backed up, the backup however dosent seem to work even after placing it in the system/app folder with the right permissions and ownership.
also I can't seem to find a leaked fastboot file for my system version: 65.1.21.XT910.PSHAsiaRetail.en.03
any ideas?
My RAZR is back...

Tks
Does anyone have the sprint network apk. I deleted them after I rooted.
Does anyone have
I have an Galaxy S7
/SprintDM.apk
/SprintSyncMLSvc.apk
/Activation.apk
Just download a rom and extract them... Remember, you can't just install like a normal apk. You will need a root enabled file manager to move them to the right folder in /system as well as set the permissions to 0644.
I download the stock Samsung rom and re-installed it but since these are sprint specific they were not in there. My phone isn't able to get data and when I go to do the ## activation it says I'm roaming and need to buy a SIM card with mins. Any ideas ?
