I haven't been here in a while but - Sprint LG G3

When in THE hell are we getting Android 5.0??!

Couldn't tell you, But I know Sprint is testing ZV7 right now. it's still showing as 4.4 but they could just not have updated that info.

Probably the end of February.

ZV7 is showing 4.4.2 as already mentioned, which is a bit surprising. I'm hoping it's a prep step to 5.0 honestly. Will try to get any details I can when it makes a OTA appearance.

showing ZV8 now in testing, but still 4.4.2

More 4.4.2 is OK with me. I've been playing around with a Lollipop ROM, and considering all the things I'd have to give up, I'm perfectly content to stay on KitKat for a while.

Ha! Did you hear that on android police? I did. But they were referring to LP in general, not whatever LG does with it.

He he, guilty. Yeah I know they were referring to stock LP not LG's version but I'm still hesitant. Guess we'll know in a few days.

So what do you guys think will be the next update we will get you think Samsung/Tmobile will bother updating us to the 4.4.4 ??? Or just wait it out and go str8 to Android L ?? Will be interesting to see how Android L Looks once touchwiz is on top
I was wondering the same thing I'm betting we may not get Android L.... It probably makes more sense for Samsung to come out with a Galaxy s6 with Android L....

Same thing I was thinking I don't think the galaxy 5 will ever see Android L or at least for a really long time right before the galaxy 6 comes out.....
I'm guessing that Galaxy F/S5Prime will more than likely get the priority of the updates before the s6 lol
Well there's the 18 month upgrade rule, supposely these carriers follow. So we'll see L, just most likely in the summer or fall 2015 unfortunately.

I'm disappointed we don't even have 4.4 yet, I don't understand how this works. Samsung devs finalize it, and send it off to carriers? And then carriers mess with it? This takes months and months?

No, that won't help either. Even the 4.4.2 ROMs are broken. The devs are trying hard to get the drivers working, but I don't know enough about that stuff to see what exactly is holding them back.

fragmentation is the wrong word, fragmentation implies that android as an entire OS is missing major features and apps are incompatible which is simply not the case, you're thinking of segmentation which is what android is now(back in the 2.2/2.3.3 days you would be right though). With 4.0 android being released, it really blurred the lines between different Android versions and made things very modular as opposed to lets say iOS which is very monolithic, you can not get the latest safari on an older version of iOS, you can however have the latest google now, maps, ect. on a device with 4.0 without rooting and have full functionality for the most part(just missing minor things like "ok google") and unlike iOS, aps built on newer versions of android work on older versions of android unlike iOS where newer apps are incompatible with older versions of iOS
I think an update is required. I have a glitch with the back cover. The current modem is pretty awful. It even makes my phone start up longer. The device even added that T-Mobile 4G LTE screen logo too. I remember it took no time to boot up the S5. Now, it takes mine roughly 30 seconds.

I'm on Verizon's edge plan. Have been for little over a month. I want the nexus 6 when they have it in the store. I'm rooted. Would it be bad if I bump'd it and installed a Rom on my g3? Or should I just wait? How do I unroot when the time comes?

When I joined the edge program, I traded in my unlocked, rooted Galaxy S3. When I traded in my Note 3 for the LG G3, it was also rooted. All they care is that the device boots up and isn't damaged.
I'm debating jumping to the Nexus 6 when it comes out, it all depends on dev support now that the G3 has been opened up.

If I understand correctly, you can't run a Rom with a different base as the stock Rom. So most aosp and lollipop Roms are out. And on my n5 I ran the loli dev preview. Its nice and clean. I loved it.

"Bone up"? So are you saying I'm dead wrong? I thought that was the case. It had to have the same base or something. I don't know. I figured if it was completely open I'd see things like AOKP, CM, and PA... but like I said. I'm familiar with the nexus line. The 5.0 Thread

So it should be today that we get Lollipop. If you have received the OTA let people know here and post screenshots and findings (and URLs..)
wait
Im so excited about it. I hope we dont wait too much.
Yeah me too!
Since my Nexus 7 LTE and Note 4 will take a few more weeks to get the Lollipop glory.
Just done a format and flashed the stock ROM, now battering the check for update button...
Somehow I'm thinking we'll get the factory images sooner than full OTA today or tomorow, and OTAs should start throughout November up until Nexus 9 LTE and Nexus 6 are out
And here's me thinking that I don't know if I care for 5.0 without xposed :/
Oh well I did a nandroid backup so I can always roll back

As it stands it simply doesn't work with art.
If the dev actually goes back to it to make it work again then it will. For now its simply safer to assume that there shall be no xposed for ART (and therefore 5.0+)

Unfortunately the situation is not that optimistic, as Rovo89 (the author of Xposed) said:
rovo89 said:
...in short: Wait until the final images and source code drop. Then wait again until it's ready. I can't give any estimation when that will be the case, it depends much on my personal situation. Chance are pretty low that it will be within a month after Lollipop release, and will get higher once I start thinking about flashing a Lollipop ROM myself (which would probably be CM12, and I think these guys won't give us a timeline either, for good reasons). I'm still not 100% sure Xposed for Lollipop will work, but I hope that in some way it will, even if it might not be as compatible with most ROMs and as easy to install as it is for Android 4.x.

ZV9 RDF

http://device.sprintpcs.com/LG/LS990-SPRINT/LS990ZV9.rdf
I looked a few days ago, and the latest was still ZV8 at http://device.sprintpcs.com/LG/LS990-SPRINT/latest I just looked, and there is a ZV9 listed! Funny thing is they never updated the android version on either ZV8 or this new ZV9 so it still shows 4.4.2. The only thing other than the build number that i noticed different is DSSClientVersionSZ_5.4.01. That was version 5.2.00 on all previous builds.
This is the first sign of life from sprint for our phone in quite a while. ZV8's RDF posted pretty close to when it was actually released, but there was zv7 which never came out, as well as zv5. So, who knows. maybe they will wait for another even number build version, or maybe we get an update soon!
Nice find!:good:
Please keep us posted!
Keeping an eye out for this... wondering if it will block the current root methods and/or bump?

RDF's are generally test builds. Didn't the international g3 receive an update recently that was still 5.0.1? Generally we receive updates after the international version gets their update, and then Sprint tests them before sending them out. I highly doubt we would get a newer build than them.

Look at it this way.... It took LG like 7 months to announce 5.0.1 so if it is a new android version I think it might show up on the LG dev page (that way we can build it like we did with L). I'll tell you this much I will make sure to use the next update as a base in my ROM

Nexus's only received 5.0.1 in December, and we received it in February(about 2 and a half months later) Not very long of a wait if you compare it to Sprint/Samsung phones of the past. Sprint used to be notorious at having like 50 rdf's posted before releasing an update.

Maybe this is just going to be a Bug fix or something..... Rather then a new android version \__/

unfortunately the process android.process.media has stopped......

I'm getting this error. I am not rooted. I have tried every fix I've seen on google. I even removed the SD card and the problem still persists. The SD card ins't even in the device and I still get the error. One thing I have noticed is my media storage does not have an option to disable. I'm running out of options and can't figure out how to get rid of this error. I am unable to download anything. from files form email, from dropbox, mega and I cannot download any update from the play store. I tried a factory reset and nothing. I know this problem may have something to do with download manager and media storage but I can't get anything to work running android 5.0 please help
I want to just get another one but I'm afraid this could be tied to my profile
Edit: come to find out, the problem is with android 5.0. There is an issue where the download manager and device storage apps aren't syncing up. And the fix is found in.......you guess it.........android 5.1, which this device has never gotten. I know there is a custom rom for android 5.1 floating around. Could anyone just point me in the direction of the custom rom and a guide on rooting this device? I used odin a long time ago when this device was on 4.4 but I'm sure it's different now on 5.0.

I was using that ROM for 6 months with no issues.
Only thing I didn't like was the stock sms app is messed up and you have to use textra. I even tried another sms app like signal and it also didn't work correct.
There is a similar build called Darklord Reborn by mid3vil. The post claims the stock sms app works. However, the link to the file is dead at the moment.
There is also a post called Lots of ROMs 7.1 by NMBNMB that seems promising. I started dabbling into a couple.

Looking these over, it seems like they are all for hlte and not hltespr... Sprint being a CDMA based system may not want to play nice. It seems like Resurection Remix had more luck in this , but even there the OP crossed out the Sprint variant working on this.
I hear Sprint may be merging/bought up soon and so perhaps there may be a change in the bandwidth that will be allowed for us users?

Agreed. Like I said Sprint Users Rejoice worked well for me.
