I previously rooted my friend's G3 on Sprint (LS990, ZV4, KitKat 4.4.2) with Stump Root, and used this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-g3-hotspot-apn-edit-t2889436 to make the hotspot work. He updated to ZV6 thinking it would fix some LTE issue that was happening. The LTE problem was related to coverage and eventually went away on its own, but now he lost root. I found out how to wipe and downgrade back to ZV4, did that, rooted with stump root again successfully, and tried to redo the hotspot fix. I assumed it would work as simply as last time, but when my friend went to turn it on, he said the WiFi Hotspot option is missing.

I have tried everything from play store replacements to widgets to build.prop edits but nothing seems to work; the best I have gotten is creating a network with the chainfire tether app but being unable to get any internet through it. I'm assuming the missing option is an indicator that the hotspot is completely disabled somewhere else. Any ideas?
This same thing happened to me after downgrading you have to do the ##RTN# fix. Just revert to 100% ZV4 (unrooted) like before. Then call sprint and ask for his msl code. Once you got it go into the dialer and type in the ##RTN# click "reset" and type in the code from Sprint. This will wipe everything and reset it with everything that originally came with the phone. After the reset then root it and do what you wish.
You could try flashing the apns from here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=56953010
You might also try updating profile and PRL. If that doesn't work, try entering ##72786# in the dialer. I had a similar issue, and that fixed it for me.
Did you ever figure out how to fix this?
I figured it out! change ro.build.target_country=US to ro.build.target_country=COM
Instead of resetting you could also manually enable it if you have root and app 'Shortcut Master(Lite)'
In the app, do a search for 'ChameleonNodeMenu' and launch it.
Click 'Tethered Data' and SET value to 3.
Reboot
If you're on a MVNO, it is necessary to enable manually (if disable) as it will not auto enable with ##RTN#.
You can also enable Roam setting menu by setting Roam Pref/Menu Display value to 1
Missing hotspot capability after using LGFlashtool
I lost my hotspot tethering when I used LG Flash tool to fix a phone that was stuck in a continuous start-up cycle. I have an LG Volt with Android version 4.4.2, Kernal 3.4.0+ Build number KOT491.LS740ZV6 and Software version LS740V6. When I use root checker, it states Root access is not properly installed on this phone. I do not think I tried to root it.
I have tried apps to get my computer to use my phone as a hotspot since that ability is now missing on my phone, but I cannot get them to work. Can you please explain how to do this? I see ways listed above (tethered data or ro.build.target), but I do not know where to start to even get those to work.
Thank you!

Hey everyone, I've searched thru the forum looking to see if someone had the same issues I did, and the stellar assistance that was given to others with various problems, I'm hoping that I can get the same (haven't seen anyone with my particular issues yet).
As mentioned in the title, I'm using a stock T-Mobile Amaze, unlocked and I'm using it in Barbados. A few weeks ago, a notification popped up on my phone.

Naturally, I was curious to see what this update was, but after ensuring that everything that was required for the update was in place, I see this...
...which I'm sure means there's some error in installing the update. The phone freezes, and I can't get out of this without doing a battery pull a la blackberry. This is issue 1.
Issue 2 is that a lot of my menus have wrong names, e.g. the 1 for Wireless connections says "Turn It On"
and even the options within the menus are wrong, e.g. In the display menu, to set the screen brightness, that option is entitled "Set A PIN code to lock your UIM Card"
Further to these, often when I try to access many of my settings, the whole shebang crashes, and asks me about sending an error report. Til now, nothing has changed in that regard. Any assistance to these problems would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Your best bet is just to do a master reset on the phone. It should clear up all those issues.
tried it...didn't work (well, the menus still are screwed up, and the settings keep crashing when i try to access some of them, like the Sound menu.)

Have you tried locking your bootloader and flashing the stock firmware?
You already unlocked your bootloader, right?
Just flash a custom rom.
If you REALLY want to flash the 1.43 update then relock your bootloader and flash this: http://goo.gl/KvHzj
Rename it to PH85IMG.zip and store it on the root of your sdcard.
It will update everything.
Then unlock your bootloader again, reroot and you'll be good.
Does anyone know if you can do the radicomm hotspot hack in cyanogen.
Radiocomm doesnt detect the phone well and computer kicks back driver installation error for "MTP usb driver"
Can anyone shed light on getting the TBH hack to work with droid x2.
Using stock blur I was able to hotspot without issues. Once I upgraded to cyanogen and used stock hotspot it keeps comming to a page pressing me to pay for hotspot services.
I talked to Dragonkiller a few days ago and he said you have to do the Radiocomm hack BEFORE flashing Cyangenmod and every time after an SBF. Btw what version of Radiocomm do you have?

I'm not sure since I've never flashed any device to work on another network, but I'd assume an SBF(Since the only sbf I know of has Verizon in the title) would set you back on Verizon's network.
Please be aware that I'm NOT 100% sure about this, but
I'm guessing the cricket wireless flash just edits the radio number in 8040 to a number that work for their network. So if you nand back to a stock 2.3.4 that works on cricket wireless then edit 8041,8042 and 8043 then proceed to flash CM7 it should work.
I'd do some more research online and/or wait till more experienced members view this thread.
If you can't find any info/help and choose to try the nand thing well it's a good thing you have backup just in case!!!!
got it back to stock. oddly enough all string 8040- 8043 are already the same? But tether gets picked up if I set up a hot spot? Anyone shed some light
My Wi-Fi had been working fine since I bought my phone almost a year ago. I recently downloaded "Words with Friends," and that app has crashed many times on my phone. After a crash on that app today, my phone restarted itself --> and I noticed that I was unable to turn my Wi-Fi on. I click the Wi-Fi button in the quick settings menu, and it is green for a while and it turns white again. It does not even find any networks since it cannot turn itself on.
I thought that maybe if I upgraded my firmware that this would fix itself. I have now upgraded to the latest firmware via Kies. However, after the upgrade I tried to connect my phone with Kies again, and it doesn't want to connect. It says: "No sim card inserted. Unable to continue communication." My sim card is inserted, and I am able to make phone calls like always.
Note: I have never installed any custom rom's on my phone. Everything is original. Also, I have deleted "Words with Friends."
Yes, I have tried to restart the phone several times, as well as removing/inserting the sim-card.
Can someone please help me with these issues I am experiencing?
• Unable to open Wi-Fi.
• Unable to activate Mobile Data.
• "No sim card inserted. Unable to continue communication." with Kies.
• Unable to get into Settings > Security ("Unfortunately, Settings has stopped.")
• Unable to adjust screen brightness from home screen (swipe the quick menu bar at the top).
It seems like I cannot take screen shots either (I used to hold in the home button and click the power button before), but it does not work any more.

Yeah try a factory reset and most probably the conflict might go away.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Install again stock rom via odin
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
How can I save my messages so I have them after the factory reset? I managed to save my contacts in a vCard file and put that on my computer.
I tried to factory reset, and everything seems to be working fine now.
I managed to save my contacts (exported them from the phone and imported them back in the phone), but sadly not my messages. My pictures did not get deleted from my phone, neither did my created folders and my content in there. My apps were deleted, however I only had free apps that were easy to install again.
Thank you guys for helping out.
What do you think could have been the cause of this?
I have tried to root with KINGROOT
but when I reboot the root goes away
so i did this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-lg-g3/general/replace-kingroot-superuser-guide-t3251013
but when the script finishes it says kingroot crashed so i reboot and there is no root
for twrp i have tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-...mp-unlock-lg-g3-twrp-d852-d852g-f400-t2900614
but when i boot into recovery i get a message saying
Code:
boot verification fail!!

I can still boot the phone and use it
I can use adb and use download mode
I just want to install xposed and some modules
I have searched online for how to root but all i get is oh all you have to do is flash it but wait in order to be able to flash you have to have root?!?!?!?!?
Thank you for your help!

Use the built in LG Backup to backup your user apps, user data and limited system data to the Micro SD card. Move everything you want to keep from your internal storage to the card as well.
LG Backup is very fast. It has a couple minor quirks but I use it for everything I can instead of Titanium Backup except TB is still handy and I restore my Bluetooth pairings with it.
The quirks are:
When backing up, any app that normally starts and runs in the background when you boot the phone like an alarm app, etc, won't be running before or even after a reboot until you manually run the app once after the backup. I use Nova Launcher and I make a launcher drawer tab worth just the apps I need to restart manually after a fresh ROM install or backing up with LG Backup.
When restoring, you can't use the phone at all while doing it, and you can't turn the screen off. And even though the restore requires a reboot when it's done and you can't use the phone again until you do, it doesn't reboot on it's own and it'll happily sit there worth the screen on forever draining the battery if you let it, as far as I know.

Thank you this worked except there was 1 part that was different and this might happen to other users.
After downloading and installing the lg drivers the port didn't show up in device manager so I just started up the flash tool and put in all the dlls and hit the arrow, then started up my phone in download mode when i connected to my computer it said drivers installed and i could access the port under device manager then i just set it to com41 and it worked without having to reconnect my phone.
I just bought S20 Ultra. My service is thru Total Wireless but it is a Verizon phone. I bought a new SIM and went thru all the hoops to activate it but I have no data, and no messaging. It shows 4G LTE on the top but it is greyed out. When I try to make a call it shows 1X. Also when I go to APN settings I can not add or edit and it displays "APN settings are not available for this user" I spent 11 hours between CHAT and Phone calls with Customer service. They had me factory reset twice, reset network settings, power on with and without data/wifi/roaming and or airplane mode on numerous times . They said they were updating my APN settings every time and pushing something thru to my phone but none of it worked. I tried to put a non working sim from T Mobile in and then add an apn but every time I would change the MCC it would disappear when I went to save. I don't know what else to try but I am hoping one of you might be able to help !!

Nice one...
Try this.
Install Nova Launcher. Long press an empty area on your home screen. Add Widget, choose Activities. Then go to Settings and select APNs. This will create a shortcut with APNs, open it and normally you will see the + sign to add an APN.
I made this script to edit apns, use adb. You will need root most likely, selinux permissive on some phones. Another route(without root) is "Settings database editor" app. Use adb to allow it extra write permissions as it instructs. Without ui it's necessary to edit databases manualy. Edit the script, it will remove ipv6 from an apn as it is, change "protocol" to what you want changed in apn, for example add "dun" to "APN type" by changing protocol:s:"IP" to type:s:"default, supl, mms, dun" the script will display current apn values for reference.
adb push fxapn.txt /data/local/tmp
adb shell
sh /data/local/tmp/fxapn.txt
Or just factory reset your phone/reset network settings.
Last time I had a phone do that it was locked by the company ( T mobile ) for non payment but the IMEI came up clean. Try someone else's Sim card that you know that works.
