[Q] Android boot process – differences in the various Android version? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I have a question about the Android boot process. I found three good articles about it.

All three articles explain the boot process in the same way. My question now, the first article is from 2009 maybe this was the time when Android 1.5 was released.
Does the boot process change at Android 4.1 and 4.4? Because I should describe the boot process for Android 4.1 and 4.4. If there are differences between 4.1 and 4.4 I should address them.

Android security patches?

Hi,
Are we ever going to get new Android security patches? My phone (L21) is still on 1st September patch level... I had understood Huawei had committed to supporting the phone for two years but it seems that they have abandoned it....
I see other people saying that their patch level is 1st December but my phone doesn't find any new update when I check... I have also used the Firmware Finder app and indeed the latest patch levels seem to be available only for other Customisations (D001, D002) but there is nothing for mine (D003).... Does anybody know why?
By the way, I have another Sumsung phone which is older than the 5x and it is currently on 1st Feb 2017 patch level.

March 17th 2017 Android Security Patch Level

Does anyone know what android versions have the March 17th 2017 Android Security Patch? I tried looking for a list online and can't find the info. I'm wondering If Android 5.1 has it, or if it will have it? I guess even if it will, the update can just be denied. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Seeking Collective wisdom: firmware choice: Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 [SM-T810]

Seeking Collective wisdom: firmware choice: Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 SM-T810
I'm looking for best bets for choosing a good firmware update for this older tablet that I still like.
The tablet recently got very flaky on Android 5 so I let it install an auto-downloaded image for Android 6. The new image probably came from Samsung since I was told at purchase that device had official Samsung firmware for Android 5.1.1. (see ABOUT DEVICE below)
Things got worse on the new Android 6 image, so bad that I'm ready to install new firmware by sideloading.
1. Since the device was rooted by prior owner (see: DEVICE HISTORY below for details) I am guessing I have little to gain by sticking with an official Samsung image--unless nothing else works. Does that sound right? And, does anything prevent me from going the non-Samsung route?
2. If it makes sense at this point to try a non-Samsung image, my question for folks here boils down to this: where am I likely to have the best luck finding a build that will work well on the device? For example, I wonder
who are the most experienced makers of firmware for this older tablet?
and which version of Android--7 or 8? Should I avoid 8 or go for it?
(I've seen an unofficial Lineage OS build for Android 8. I believe that Android 7 builds exist, too.)
Thanks for any suggestions.
MORE:
(I've waited so long to update because a) I seldom use the tablet and b) seller said that he'd had problems with a German Nougat and had reverted to official Android 5.1.1. )

[DEVICE HISTORY, as far as I can say:
I bought in 2017 on swappa.com. Seller told me "What you would get out of the box is the official Samsung OEM firmware for Android 5.1.1 (XAR-T810XXU2BPB1-20160323135521) with the official Samsung recovery. Updates will apply without issue, either by directly loading with Odin or SmartSync, or doing an OTA firmware update....It is running pure stock firmware now. Since it was rooted at one point, the Samsung Knox flag is tripped. It's the only thing that would distinguish this device from a new-in-box tablet."]

Just got a Samsung Galaxy A21. System updates are postponed until tomorrow. How do I root it?

So the other day we got a Samsung Galaxy A21 with Android 10 (locked to Simple Mobile), Kernel version 4.9.190-20280533 #3 Mon Dec 21 14:23:09 KST 2020, and Build number QP1A.190711.020.S215DLUDU2ATL3. I tried looking up rooting guides, but I couldn't find anything that laid it out clearly, the instructions were unclear on various things (such as which builds were supported and just general wording). How would I go about rooting our phone? ~Cherri
We've been able to delay the update process more. Does anyone know how we can root it? We still can't find anything. ~Cherri
