Can I resize the system partition? - Huawei Ascend Mate 2

While attempting to do some organizing with titanium backup, I was unable to integrate app updates into the ROM and move some apps to system due to the partition only being 1gb. I was wondering if it would be safe to resize it? And if so what app is reccomended and what partition should I shrink to compensate?
Edit: I'd take the space from the /data partition most likely, leave the internal SD partition intact. There's no need for a 6GB data partition, and having only 1gb for /system is not enough.
I always integrate system app updates into the ROM to preserve storage, and I integrate other apps into system for better performance and functionality.
I have a 32GB SD card installed and keep all my files on except for recent downloads and pics from the camera.

[Q] Problem With Transfering Apps To External

I use DT App2sd, I can't remember the partition sizes of my SD but at Titanium Backup's initial page it says like this
SD Card: 6,64 GB (688 mb free)
SD Card (a2sd): 1,02GB (891mb free)
According to this figures, I should have a lot of space to use, but I can't move an app from internal to External. When I try it says "Failed to move app. There's not enough storage left" What can be the problem? And by the way, which partition on the card do they go into when I install applications? İnto SD-Ext or Swap or other normal using space left?
1.) Has the app been written to allow it to function from /sdcard?
2.) How big is the app?
3.)When you install by default, apps should go into the internal memory BUT this depends on the settings you made in CM7.1 There is a setting that allow you to specify where you want the app to be installed to cos CM7.1 has an inbuilt app2sd function (not darktremor's)
4.) Once you have a2sd enabled with an ext4 partition and you install an app into internal memory, the app will either go into your real internal memory or sd-ext (a2sd)

1) It's not about only for a specific app, I can't move other apps as well. But other small sized apps can be move. And yes, all of them suitable to work from SD.
2) It's a game and about 10mb.
3) I had that settings (for install location) to Automatic and application moving is allowed too. So theres nothing wrong here.
4) I guessed so, then though I have plenty of spaces why I cant move them? Whats the problem? God, I hate such things.
Ok i take it that your sd-ext partition is working fine since Titanium Backup can see it. I would like you to set the install location to Internal. My idea is to force the apps to be installed in the sd-ext partition.
Next, i would like you to go to Titanium Backup>Batch>Move user apps to internal memory.
They should all be shunted to the sd-ext partition. the sd-ext partition is regarded as a virtual internal memory space now hence, the shift to internal.

[Q] How to use /mnt/emmc/ (external sd card) for applications?

As you know in Sgs 2 there are internal storage, sd card (also built in phone) and additionaly external sd card slot. I would like to use this external one as location to move installed apps. There is option in application manager to move some apps to sd card but to the one built in, not the external. I have 32GB external card while built sd card has now only 100 MB free space and I can't download data for installed apps.
How to use external card for apps installation or moving some already installed apps on it?
Your internalSD is part of your phone where as the externalSD is not .You can backup apps to the externalSD but thats all.If you pass working apps to the externalSD you take them out of the system and so out of the phone and they will stop working. That is why there is only the option to move apps to SD (internal).
there is an additional option in the android system, to set a partition for your apps on external SD, you cant do this with Stock Rom anyway, but no idea on SGS2, any custom rom has offered this option so far.... this partition called "sd-ext" see the definition below:
"This is not a standard Android partition, but has become popular in the custom ROM scene. It is basically an additional partition on your SD card that acts as the /data partition when used with certain ROMs that have special features called APP2SD+ or data2ext enabled. It is especially useful on devices with little internal memory allotted to the /data partition. Thus, users who want to install more programs than the internal memory allows can make this partition and use it with a custom ROM that supports this feature, to get additional storage for installing their apps. Wiping this partition is essentially the same as wiping the /data partition – you lose your contacts, SMS, market apps and settings."
Ok, so any idea about such like ROMs or any manual/instruction thread?

[Q] Swapping "internal" sdcard partition for /data

I'm asking this specifically for the Atrix.
I would like to have one central location for all apps and data, and have all the apps installed as "internal". The advantage of this method is so that apps can function independently of whether /sdcard (or /mnt/emmc if you do it that way) is mounted or not on the device. I did something similar on my HTC Evo, using DarkTremor's A2SD. But the Atrix, with its 10GB partition, means that I won't need to symlink anything to my actual SD card.
The 10GB partition (mmcblk0p18) is ample space for all user apps and data. But the existing 2GB /data partition (mmcblk0p16) definitely requires that some larger apps use the asec feature of the SD card. I understand that some apps need the SD card for extended downloaded content, like most Gameloft games, and any standalone GPS navigation app with its own maps. In those cases, I am a little more flexible, and understand that I can't use those particular apps when the card isn't mounted.
So here a couple questions, regarding the "swap":
Is there any way I can rename the partitions-- change the 10GB partition to mmcblk0p16, and the 2GB partition to mmcblk0p18 (and reformat them to EXT3 and FAT respectively)? Rebuilding the partition table is not an option. There's just way too much at stake there.
Would all of the bootable components (kernel, ROM, bootloader, and recovery) need to take into consideration the new structure? Or would the renaming of the partitions make this all seamless?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks for reading!

Resize ext2 partition??

So, I have a samsung galaxy young s6312, stock android 4.1.2 jellybean, rooted. Since the internal memory is very low, I use link2sd to link app files to my external sd card. Now I have created an ext2 partition of 1.5 gb to use with link2sd. but now the partition is full, and my internal memory is also full, because I have installed about 3gb of apps in my phone, half are in the second partition, and half are on my internal memory. so now I want to know if there is a way I can increase the size of my second partition. if I had enough memory, I would have moved the apps to my internal memory temporarily, but I don't have enough internal memory to move the linked apps to my internal memory. so is there any way to increase size of second partition without formatting it?? NOTE: I don't have any problem in formatting the first partition if necessary, but I can't format the second partition. NOTE: the sd card I use is of 8 gb...
Thanks...........
I have the same issue...
... so I'm disappointed to see that no one has replied.
I have a rooted LD-D520 with Android 4.1.2. Since I quickly ran out of memory I added an 8GB SD card and partitioned it with a 1.5GB ext2. I used Link2SD to them move over most all my apps. I don't have that many, but some of them have gotten so big (FB, Skype, etc.) that I now have only 5% free space on the ext2. I don't have much space left on the internal memory either, so I thought I'd try to make the ext2 partition bigger. (There's lot of free space on the SD card since I'm not using much of the other partition.) I tried using the MiniTool Partition Wizard, but even after reducing the size of the non-ext2 partition to create some unallocated space I was still unable to resize the ext2 partition.
Any suggestions? Is there an easy way to do this?

TWRP cannot backup internal storage?

I was looking up the release notes for the new version of TWRP, version 3.1.0.0, and noticed that one of the changes listed was:
better indicate to users that internal storage is not backed up (Dees_Troy)
I am confused, I thought if you checked every partition when backing up, it basically backs up your entire NAND? If not, then what is the data partition for if that's not my internal memory? Since my backup was around 22-23 or so gigs uncompressed, and my phone is a total of 32 gigs with about 8 free, I assumed it was just backing up everything.
If not, then what is on this partition that TWRP won't be backing up? My application's settings/data and any personal files are what I care about, and I assume those are in the internal storage? Or are they in the data partition?
Do I have to use something else to backup my internal storage then? Is there any reason TWRP won't (or just can't) backup internal storage?

Hi
Internal storage won't be backed up, TWRP can backup (system, data, cache, boot, preload, efs) partitions to the Internal storage or the external storage, so the internal storage is the PATH of the backup, not a part of the backup, to backup the internal storage, you simply copy the files from the phone to your PC or your Laptop through MTP
Apps and OS and apps' data(except for files in /android) is available in System and data partition
Photos, videos, music other personal files you download or copy from pc to your phone is in the internal storage.

I'm still a little confused about a few things.
1. If it doesn't back up my internal storage, then why are backups nearly the entire size of my used up memory anyway?
2. Kinda unclear what is on internal storage then if my app data isn't on there, especially since I use a SDcard for my camera.
3. Is there any technical, legal, or other reason why TWRP can't backup internal storage if you are backing up to external storage? I can understand if you are backing up to internal, but not to external.
4. So then if my internal storage just the fake "sdcard" folder that just links back to my internal storage? (Damn do I hate that thing, I have several apps that downloaded hundreds of megs to several GIGS of data that they assumed was external storage, but it was really the emulated internal). If so, what would be a good way to created synced backups? Just simply copying the "sdcard" folder doesn't really help keep files in sync (especially ones deleted since the last backup) nor compresses them.
