Here is the problem:
My phone is stuck on the screen you see immediately after pressing the power button, which has a big "Vibrant" and a smaller "Samsung" both white on black. Whatever I do, it won't get past that.
Here is what happened:
- I had Eclair on it for a long while, and updated to Froyo via Kies, also a long while ago. Then, tired of bad performances, I followed a tutorial to install ICS on it. It worked fine for a month and I was very pleased of the newly gained performances. However this week, (while I was on vacation away from my computer and even internet in fact) it started giving me messages saying something about "Memory low, close some applications" (paraphrasing), even thought my memory indicator said that I was using around 160 MB, which should not be that bad. Then, after a couple of hours like that, applications started to crash (because of low memory I assume). I killed applications not that useful, but it did not change the message. Then, the core application also started to crash, whatever I did. I rebooted several times to get it to start fresh, but as soon as I booted, I got the low memory message and the core crashing. At one point, it would get stuck on the ICS 3D flying boot scene, and not past that.
- So, I rebooted in recovery mode and tried to see if I had an option to just restore part of the ROM so I could use my phone anew. I wanted to avoid restoring it completely since I did not have the information about my APN (I have the T-Mobile Vibrant, but I live in Canada and I'm on Videotron's network), and performances before ICS where really bad (lagging, freezing, name it). Also, I figured it was only a booting problem, so (biggest mistake is here I believe) I tried to restore the boot only. I found somewhere in the advanced options of Clockwork an option to restore parts of the backed-up ROM. So I did it, but I got an error saying something about the checksum I think. There I realized that I was trying to restore an Eclair boot backup to an ICS ROM, so the checksum error probably came from that. I try it a second time... same result. Then, when I rebooted it stopped at the Vibrant screen I described above.
What I tried to resolve it:
- Tried to go back to recovery mode by holding the three buttons as usual. Cannot get in. The only thing that "works" is that if I hold the power button for 6-8 second, it will reboot. And get stuck at the same place.
- Search intensively on the web to see if anyone had the same kind of issue. Saw a lot of the "Exclamation mark bricked" type, resolved by going in recovery mode. Not useful to me.
- Tried to connect it to my computer and see where I could go from there. I am unable to mount the device. If the phone is powered down, as soon as I connect it, it starts to boot (and get stuck you know where). Windows does not recognizes the device, and gives me the message "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". I tried to use the drivers from ADB and those from Kies with the same results.
- I tried to install Android Debug Bridge, but without the phone mounted, it doesn't work.
- I tried to see if Odin would detect it, with the same results
- I tried to pray, but there is no answer there yet. :crying:
So here I am, with the following things still untried:
- I would try the "resistor" way of booting in download mode it that could help. However, I don't have soldering iron, don't know how to solder and don't have the parts required, so that would take me a lot of time just the try this option, without any clue that I would resolve my problem with this. I am willing to go that way if I am pretty sure it will work
- I haven't tried using the Riff Box, and I have no idea what it is and where it would get me. I would not even know where to get access to that.
On a final note, this is my only phone in the house, and to make the matter worse, I changed providers with this phone, so my older cell phones don't work with Videotron's SIM card... I would rather have the issue resolved fast if possible, because otherwise, I'll have to buy a new phone. Let's say that I would have better uses for that cash, so I hope it does not come to that.
So that concludes my sad story for today.
Any clues welcome. If the answer is "get a new phone", I would rather do it that trying stuff for two weeks and having to buy a new phone anyway.
Try reinstalling the drivers and add the nexus drivers since some people report that you may need it. Then get into download mode for Odin, on my phone its both volume buttons, but now power, then keep holding while put the USB in. The pit and pda and reparation should be selected, since that's what I do.

This method should work for you, what your talking about is called a "USB Jig". You can buy one for around $5 online, I would recommend www.mobiletechvideos.com to buy from. Before you buy the jig I would try booting into download mode with the gingerbread button combos just in case you somehow installed them. Download mode is volume + and power button. Recovery is volume - and power.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers several times, to no effect. In fact, whatever driver there is, it does not matter since Windows always give the message about device not able to start. So I just can't use Odin.

I just tried the gingerbread combo buttons, but no more results. I will try to get a Jig assembled asap, it would still be faster than ordering it and waiting 10 days to get it. I'll let you know how it goes.
I went and made myself an USB Jig and tada!, it worked!
So I'll now reinstall something with Odin and report a last and final time to confirm everything went right.
Many thanks guys!
Still no joy, I now only get the following message while connection the phone to the computer "windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (code 43)". I tried to use the drivers from Kies, the ones from ADB (unsigned, therefore cannot install them on my Windows 7 x64).
Tried to uninstall, then reinstall. Rebooted and reinstalled, and finally tried every USB port on my computer. Always the same result. Anyone has a clue?
Will try tomorrow on the computer @ work...

Have you tried a different usb cable?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
Tried it on a different computer, with a different USB cable. Both cables and computer used to work to connect the phone.
I am at a loss for options to try right now... Any suggestion?
Just to clarify, if Odin is up and you connect your phone to the computer, does Odin give you a com port?

Nope, not at all. The OS never gets to the point where it detects correctly the phone and mounts it.

^^^You learn fast my friend. I'll hit you up a bunch of thanks later on when I get off work. I've hit my limit for the day already on my PC and I can't whip out my phone while I am here.
OP, I am following this thread cause I have a spare Vibe that is doing somethings similar and not being recognized by my PC. I have actually read your OP more than a few times and tried all that you have, even sent it away to a developer friend of mine. He hasn't been able to get it to recognize yet either. Xenoism is in the same boat too. Keep trying and if you get Odin to see it, please come back here and post how. We'll do the same.
Here is another thread about it (Help please! Unique problem!!!)

No, it is a T-Mobile Vibrant, and thus has only one camera facing the back. However, I fail to see how it could be relevant...

Ok, thanks for that. Today, Ill go buy myself a new phone (probably SIII) since I don't seem to have much other choices. I'll still try to get this one to work and keep you posted if I get any results.
I was trying to install a custom ROM and did not know I needed an unlocked bootloader, as I used ROMs on a S4 without doing any extra work.
Anyway, so when I attempted that, my Optimus L9 rebooted and gave me the LG logo with the "Security Error" words below it. It's stuck on that now. I tried using the LG Mobile Support Tool, but it gets stuck on downloading new software. The progress bar disappears quickly, so I'm sure it's not downloading.
I tried leaving it to download for around 45 minutes, but it was stuck on the same screen when I came back, with no progress bar. It can't be that it's taking long, I have decent Internet (150/75). I'm afraid of leaving it for hours as the device does heat up.
Is there ANYTHING I can do? I tried calling LG and the woman who was there to help me was rude and treated me like an idiot, only to give me the solution of sending it in. PLEASE help me!!

It's always best to include your device model when asking questions like this. There are four models of the L9 and the all have different quirks.
A factory hard-reset or use the 'Recovery' option in the LG Support tool. Only things I can think of at the moment with a lack of details.
Did you back anything up? If not, not much else to do other than try what I've suggested.
This post may also be of some interest.
Advice::
Never assume anything. Research is your friend I had an LG Optimus One, was easy to mod, root, etc. I bought this L9 ( P769 ) on the assumption that it would be similar. Boy was I wrong. However, I did the research before attempting to do anything with the L9.

I really regret doing what I did :crying:. It's definitely a huge lesson for me.
My model: LG Optimus L9 MS769 (back cover says P769?)
If a factory hard-reset means holding the home button, voIume UP button, and power button, then I already did that but I did not reach the robot.
In the LG support tool, after I enter S/W upgrade mode, it says the software version is V10D and that there is an upgrade available. When I start the upgrade, it goes through the first step but when I get to the second step, it doesn't download I think. I have an image but I can't link to it since I have under 10 posts.

Their network is horribly slow. I've heard of people waiting 2 hours. In addition the tool appears to freeze. However, it's still operating.
I don't prefer this method because of the time.
Learn how to use the unofficial fastboot & offline flash.
Or just keep waiting for that program to finish.

So it's normal? The reason I thought otherwise was because when I searched, I saw 0 people with the stuck/long download issue and figured it was just me. I didn't want to risk my device even further as I am aware that it has been soft-bricked, so there is a little hope available. Should I let it sit for 3-4 hours and let it over-heat?
I attempted the fastboot method but my device was not showing under the Devices section. I do not have a "Other Devices" section when I get to the step.
I am trying the offline flash method now, although I can't find a working V10D KDZ.

Do you see an entry in Device Manager for TI Board ( I think )? It's TI something or other, lol. Sorry brain fart.

I don't understand the device heating up. When attached to PC via USB my P769 is in slow charge mode unlike if attached to a wall charger.

As in LG Support Tool? No I don't think it will since your phone has been altered with unofficial methods. I could be wrong tho.
Just realized something else strange, IMHO, my P769 came with Android 4.1.2 ( JellyBean ) and you say you were on stock ICS?
Just out of curiosity was it a WalMart purchase? They're still advertised as having ICS 4.0.4. Last update I got was to from V20G to V20H which is what I'm on now.

I mean that in order for the KDZ flash to work you must do some edits in the host file so that you can do the offline fix, I did it but it won't work as the tool crashes while connecting to the device.
My device also came with 4.1.2. It did not come with ICS. But when I open the support tool it says V10D. I bought my L9 from an official MetroPCS store

Yep. Hurry up and right click on it before it disappears and select "Update Driver". You need to manually point Device Manager to the usb_driver folder in the fastboot tools folder. You may have to do that a couple times. If successful, unplug USB from device wait a couple seconds and plug back in. This will reinstall the drivers just in case they didn't take the first time.

I got fastboot to work!!! I got the inverted screen and all. Now the problem is that I can't flash the phone . I keep trying a KDZ I downloaded. The supporter tool provided in the zip keeps trying to connect to the phone, the UpTest one loads the new Support Tool and it crashes, and the KDZ UPD tool gets stuck on unpacking KDZ and says no phone found.

So my phone recently started bootlooping at the Verizon logo, so I did a factory reset. When the phone booted up, I was greeted with the Setup Wizard. However, Android UI kept force closing, rendering the phone useless. I could not get past the first setup screen. I followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089 to try to get back to stock. I installed the drivers and LG Flashtool, but when I plug my phone into the computer in Download Mode, it does not show up under Ports in Device Manager, as stated in step 10 of the guide. Instead, my device manager looks like the attached picture. Because of this, my phone cannot be recognized by LG Flashtool, and I cannot get back to stock. How do I fix this problem? I used Textdroider_DPI from Play store and set it to 530 . Also the LG Flex Multi Window mod works. It's an installable apk that let's you just pick and choose which apps you want to include in the multi window. You should try those if you haven't already fixed yourself up.

Long story short....in my efforts to flash the 10B TOT file, the flash tool got to 94% and started the phone reboot step, but the phone never rebooted thus the flash was a failure. When I tried to re-do the steps to flash the 10B TOT, I found out that I was no longer able to get into download mode. In my computer's device settings, when the phone is connected with a USB it now shows up as Qualcomm HS-USBQloader 9008. I looked up the threads about this problem and started the process of getting this fixed using the BoardDiag tool, but that process fails at the part where I attempt to run the AP and EMMC tests (gives me a message saying "Device was not found in DLOAD trying to install flasher). I have not found any practical fix for this error.
Am I completely screwed now, or is there a step somewhere I'm missing? I've been at this for 5 hours.

Have you installed the correct drivers for the Qualcomm HS-USBQloader for your version of windows?
Look at this guide it works perfectly. http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-lg-g3/general/how-to-hardbrick-guide-using-test-t3276928

Just to make sure I was doing everything right, I installed the Qualcomm drivers with the test mode on for driver signing. My phone, when plugged into the computer, still shows up as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008. So it's my understanding that I don't need to do the steps which detail how I would need to break into my phone and use wires and solder. Based on everything I've read, I should be able to use the BoardDiag tool, but it keeps telling me in one fashion or another that it can't connect to the phone. Sometimes it will tell me "Check PMIC first and if still boot problem, replace AP", other times it will give me the same message I was getting originally saying "Device was not found in DLOAD trying to flash programmer".

Have you tried to boot into DL mode remove battery reinsert battery and press vol up while connecting to computer. If you are able to get into that mode you can downgrade to the vs98510b.tot. Can you post a computer screen shot of your setup of your Boarddiag?

It won't let me boot into download mode.
I've attached a screenshot of what my BoardDiag screen looks like. I extracted the TOT files that the tool created to my bare C: drive because any time I tried to change the directory for the location of those files it would cause the program to crash.

Ok so when you plug in your phone to the computer does it say installing the qualcomm driver or does it just show up as the qualcomm in device manager. I had that when I bricked my phone and had to redo the wire trick. Once I did it the installing qualcomm drivers notice came up and I was able to run the boarddiag with not problem. If all else fails give the wire trick a try. Here's another similar guide that will help too. I turned off driver signing on computer bootup just for reference. http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/general/guide-fix-hard-brick-recovery-guide-t3132359

The first time I plugged it in after installing the Qualcomm drivers the window popped up to show that the device drivers were being installed and it completed successfully.
I'm trying to reach out to tungkick since I've seen in other threads that he has helped people who have run into the same issues I'm having. I'm hoping he can fix it without me having to crack open my phone.

Does your comm port in qualcomm driver in device settings and boarddiag comm port match?
Also, were you already rooted and wanted to go back to stock or what version of software were you downgrading from ( ex. 46A,47A what).

Yes it does. As far as I can tell I'm doing everything right based on the tutorials that are out there.

So the long story is that I was originally running 47A stock with root and TWRP recovery. I was having TERRIBLE battery life and it got to the point where I couldn't take it any more so I decided to flash a CM13 nightly. I was going to test the waters to see if I could use a systemless SuperSU version with CM13 so when I flashed CM13 I also flashed SuperSU 2.68 at the same time. It turns out that's a big no-no. So when I tried to reboot, I got the error message that the secure boot failed, or something to that effect. So after looking at posts on XDA I intended on doing the "revert to 10B from 47A" method with a TOT file and the flash tool. Everything with that was working great...it got to 94% complete and got the point in the process where the phone reboots, but when the phone left download mode it never came back and the flash tool never made a re-connection with the phone to complete the end of the process. From that point on, I could not even load into download mode, thus here I am.

Ok so I used the androidbrick tool in that link you sent me and the process seems to have gone through correctly. After re-installing my battery the phone booted to the LG screen, then showed the little android guy with a progress bar, but that screen didn''t last long before the phone rebooted again and this time after the LG screen I got a screen that said "miniOS" and following that came a blue screen with the words "Factory Reset Status" and a big red number 2. So that's where I'm at now and I'm going to look up info on that to see what I do next. If you have any experience with this step please let me know.
Boot into download mode Volume up and us lg flash tool and tot again. It should say 3 when successful.

Ok, this is where I was earlier today and when it got to about 94% complete and commanded the phone to reboot, the phone never came back to a state that allowed the flash tool to complete. I've seen some sites talk about having to hold the up volume button at a certain juncture around the time that it failed for me last time. Is there some trick to this?

It did it again! Phone got to 100% on the flash and the tool got to the restart command, but the phone never came back on after leaving the download mode from the reboot command. I even was holding the volume up like another website said when the reboot occurred. I also changed the setting from "Upload DL" to "Board DL" as suggested by others in various threads. The error I'm getting after the tool says it failed is "USB port open FAIL!"

Ok, we are back up and running! I went through all the steps again going all the way back to the androidbrick tool. This time when the phone boot into miniOS mode and was still on that animation, I hit the power button (something I saw on another post) and it took me to the AAT screen. I had seen a thread about this somewhere and followed those steps to have the phone reboot into the setup wizard and we are all good now! WHEW! The only thing that sucks is throughout this whole process I've lost well over 100 photos of my son . Oh well....I saved myself a few hundred bucks. Thanks for all of your help!!

I also wanted to add, I use the Mega cloud service app with 50 GB free. I have it configured to automatically back up my pictures and videos whenever I'm connected to WiFi. I save photos and videos to internal storage because it's faster and more reliable than Micro SD cards are.

@roirraW "edor" ehT Good idea I may just do that myself.
Steps:
1. Turn Off Any Virus Protection Software
2. Download MP26010j_00_0316.kdz To Flash Your Phone Back To Stock
3. Install LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.2.0.exe
4. Next Install LGUP_Store_Frame_Ver_1_14_3.msi
5. Make Sure That You Have Your Phone Connected (Take Battery Out Then Put It Back In Hold Volume Up And Connect With Micro USB) So LGUP Can Be Able To Recognize It
6. Then Double Click UPPERCUT.exe to open up LGUP Now But Only Thing Is That Uppercut will try to verify just ignore and if it doesn't open up just open lgup from desktop and its going to view phone as unknown
7. Unplug Phone But Keep LG Download Mode On And Exit LGUP
8. Open LGUP First And Then Connect Phone Which Should Recognize Phone As MP260
9. Click Upgrade, Make Sure That Bin Is Checked And Select File MP26010j_00_0316.kdz To Flash And Click Start
10. Your Done! Video Coming Soon

I figured I'd post this here to, because I am thinking about getting this phone. It's $99 at metro pcs right now, that's really hard to pass up.
In a twrp+root thread there are some that cannot get root, with the last LG firmware update, so I'm guessing this is a soft brick as apposed to a hard brick.
So, had a question.
If in the case of the like 10% of the people that do this root, the phone won't root or bricks, if I get this phone and and that happens, is it possible to flash the phone via the LG program, with a KDZ file and go back to stock like in this thread? If so I will probably buy this phone tomorrow (crosses fingers the kdz trick will work)
From looking at the videos, it looks as if the LG program is similar to the Samsung Odin program as far as flashing goes, am I correct in this?

I know this thread has not been active for a while. However I have a Metro LG K20 Plus phone and want to change the firmware to T-Mobile. I have not been successful doing this as I always get invalid firmware, because LG UP recognizes the phone as a metro phone. Is there a way to succeed in getting the T-Mobile firmware on the phone?
thanks in advance.

Did you find any answers to this? I have one that is bricked. It will not show up when connected to a computer at all
Virus warning from Avira in Uppercut
lg k20 plus soft bricked?
So I've searched high and low and have tried suggestion after suggestion with no avail. To start things off, I have a soft bricked LG k20 plus. Everything was working fine until the other day when I went to flash a kernel, and when the phone restarted, the screen was a dark grey/black color. I rooted the devices using massis method, removed SU and then rooted using Magisk. Like I said everything was working fine and for whatever reason I decided to try a different kernel. That's when it all went downhill. So now when I turn the phone on, the screen is still blank but it vibrates. When I've connected it to a computer, on my Mac it doesn't show up with ADB or FASTBOOT but in my device tree it comes up as LGE Android device. I borrowed my friends laptop since it runs windows, and my Mac is a dinosaur. ADB doesn't pick it up either, but in a USB hub it says the same thing, LGE Android device and lower down it comes up as TP-LINK. Now tryin to use LG Flash tools doesn't work, LGUP doesn't see my device, and when I tried to extract the KZD file, when I go to select it from the list there is no file to choose. Since I can't see anything on my screen, I can't tell if I'm in download mode, bootloader, etc, but in my device tree sometimes my phone will pop up an bootloader interface and I can use fastboot commands. When I was last able to see my screen, yes, USB debugging was on, I had a recovery, but since I can't see anything on my screen I can't seem to boot into recovery. If I could I would wipe cache and all. I think I may have read too many article and suggestions as to what to do because nothing seems to be working, and don't seem to find anything else related closely enough to my issue. Anyone have a clue as to where I should start? I'll have to give my friend back her laptop soon, and since my mac is so old, and the whole PC vs Mac feud, my computer won't be of much help. Any advice my hair strands would greatly appreciate before they rest are pulled out lol
