I've searched for this, but can't find any real answers.
I currently have an Xperia Z2 SIMlocked to EE in the UK. Can anyone recommend a reputable, preferably quick, service for unlocking it?
(I assume that it can't be done for free)
Has anyone used these services? What are they like?
Thanks in advance.

Do you still have EE? Than you can unlock it officialy on the homepage of EE
It will cost £20.42
Yeah, but haven't had the phone for six months. EE have very low data plans, which aren't much use for me. My wife is going to take over my contract and I'm going to go with 3, who give you unlimited data.

Hello all
Is it possible tu unlock xperia x10 mini at home somehow for free rooting it or whatever? (other than pay stupid amounts of money for having the IMEI code unlock)
I've just unlocked mine via www.liberaporimei.eu, €22 - worked perfectly
I don't think there is a reliable way of doing it yourself. If you really need to unlock the phone (ie plan on using a phone that is worth several 00 Euros on a different network), I think this is your route.
& as ever, given the cost of the phone, it's not an outlandish amount to pay.
Will it unlock Vodafone Spain network locked phones? I have seen some on eBay that might be interesting, now I just need to convince Spanish people that they can send outside of Spain, which is not an easy task .

Yes - mine was locked to Vodafone Spain's network.
Well,
Sort of a noob question, but since I dont know how easy or hard could it be.
If I buy a SGS-II with a service plan in UK (Orange, Voda etc), then can it be unlocked to be used in other countries or other operators.
I know maybe it has got something to do with the gaining the root access to the handset or even a root access achieve the desired.
Thanks for suggestions.

It's got nothing to do with root and everything to do with the carrier, some will deliver locked phones, some unlocked.. most usually contract phones are unlocked and PAYG phones are locked
I'm on O2 contract and the phones I've had have always been unlocked, but I've heard Orange do network lock their phone
Orange do always lock their phones but if you get it from an independent seller like the Carphone Warehouse or Phones4u the chances are it'll be unlocked.
Most networks will unlock your phone for a small fee (I think I paid £25 on Orange) but it's only a matter of time before sellers on eBay popup that will sell you an unlock code based on your IMEI.
You're right that you could unlock handsets with root access but that involved flashing another radio. Since no locked SGS2's have been released yet you're safe buying now and the phone hasn't been rooted so you may be waiting a while for that option if you get a locked handset in the future.
You could always use a Rebel SimCard. Its not the perfect solution but it works.
So we just have to wait basically. O2 are offering it for 399£ apparently on payg. It would be awesome to get it for that price and then unlock it.

Last year, o2 were selling the SGS1 on PAYG. I think the handsets were supposed to be locked but they weren't. If you're in luck then maybe same is true for SGS2. I've pulled the trigger on the SGS2 with contract from o2 as total cost works out cheaper that any PAYG or sim free offer currently available.

Does orange still exist over there?
Three took over Orange over here in Australia years ago
On three if you call them up they give you the unlock code for free
I asked a popular online unlocking firm what the likelihood of the SGS2 being unlocked was and this was his reply:
Hi Aaron,
This should be no problem at all. That's because there's one main database for all European Samsung Android handsets. We have unlocked the Samsung Galaxy S from all 6 main UK networks.

Are you going to use them to unlock? When can they do it? & who are they?

I will ask them to unlock if my SGS2 arrives locked. I found them doing a quick google search. I am not sure I am allowed to post links so mods please remove if that is the case. http://www.mobileunlocked.co.uk/
There are many more if you do a google search.
I'm looking for the safest way to unlock a Xperia X10. I realize there is no free way to do it at the moment, so that leaves tons and tons of unreliable websites and I have no idea where to get it from.
The most mentioned ones on this forum either have very expensive prices for my carrier ($70+) or don't have it at all.
Can anyone help me with this?
Anyone? Please?
Hi, I think the best way is to contact Your network operator. It is just little bit more expensive then other ways.

Here it's very very expensive because this is a company phone.
Sorry if this has been posted but I can't seem to find the answer.
Virgin now let you use the Orange network if the Virgin signal is lost.
Tomorrow I receive an Orange Xperia Ray but I have a Virgin sim.
Any idea if the handset will work on a Virgin Sim (I know they normally don't but thought perhaps this would work the same way you can put it in a T-Mobile handet).
If not, is there any quick way of unlocking the handset and (if need be) debranding the handset.
I have no idea if they typically 'brand' Sony handsets and I didn't have time to research fully as the phone was on a classified forum and I had to act quick.
Its replacing an Xperia Play I no longer use as a gaming device so I am familiar with the SE/Android layout.

Depends, if the phone provided Orange is SIM-locked or not.
If yes, the SIM will not work. If not, phone should work just fine.
If you do have SIM-lock, then currently only way is via paid method, using test point, which is better that you have some knowledge
Thanks. I got the phone brand new for a great price...just looking for a cheaper unlock than the £20 orange are asking.

WotanServer, Omnius and maybe some more offer that service. Take a look at their websites for the price.
I am looking to buy a second hand Xperia Z2, but it is on the EE network in the UK. As I am on o2 I'd need to get it unlocked, and was wondering if anyone could confirm if it's possible, and easiest/cheapest way to do this.
There are some unlock codes for sale on ebay, but I have no experience in knowing if these are any good
thanks

I bought code from electronic shop.
I know they ordered code from web based in my IMEI but I don't know where from.
Just find seller that will offer guarantee - so if code doesn't work you can ask for new or money return...
I unlocked Z1 that way and it worked without any problems...
