Slippery - Xperia Z3 Accessories

I find the Z3 very slippery and hard to grip, particularly due to the back. Does anyone have any ideas for something to make it grip better and more comfortable in the hand while maintaining good looks? Eg a transparent skin that provides high grip?

I use case. WCR14 wireless charging cover. Using it without case and with dry hands is quite risky.

I use the slickwraps carbon fiber skin, much better in terms of grip and looks pretty good to boot.

My slick wrap skin just showed up today. Definitely looks good, but I have to say they make the phone less grippy...
For sure they have texture, but I'm not sure this helps with grip.

I've put on a copter film on the back of mine. Copter screen/back protectors have that slightly rubbery feel that gives it more grip than the pure glass. Also lifetime warranty.

Give a try to Nillkin case

I've gotten a black z3. On the front I have a tempered glass 9H hardness by linconell. On the back I have the mahagony skin by Dbrand which I higly recommend as the phone looks really awesome with it.

Use case, or skin will help to prevent slippery.

Interesting you say that, the carbon one on my phone has helped so so much with giving it grip. Which one did you grab?

Picked up the grey and blue ones since they were $4.99 each with prime shipping.
Pretty good quality. The texture is really nice and soft yet still durable. Fitment was perfect. Very light. Replacing my slim spigen case with these.

I have a green one and my only complaint is that it does accentuates pocket fluff getting stuck on the edge of the screen but overall that's not a big deal and I gotta say that on the whole I love it.
I really like that the phone lays flat with this and yet it doesn't make the phone feel bulky.
Case looks nice. Unfortunately I hate cases that don't fully cover the top or bottom
Just to clarify for potential buyers, the cases pictured are the sand cases. The regular premium case has no texture. I got 1 sand and one premium yesterday. I was hoping that the premium had a soft touch coating but it does not. I really like the sand case.

it looks like the inside of the sand version is also sanded...will that scratch up the plastic/chrome band and back cover? thanks

From the pics, it looks more sky blue than blue. Is that correct?
I picked up one of the sand black ones on a whim - love it. Great texture, good grip without being sticky (still slides in and out of pockets easily, which the stickier rubber ones do not).
No, there is no texture on the inside to scratch the phone, only outside. May still try a spigen, but super happy with this - would have been happy at $15-20, at $5 it's a no-brainer.
why do all slim fit covers not protect the top and bottom? i love that case, but have to have four sided protection.

LG G3 Cruzerlite Bugdroid Case Review

This case is my personal favorite next to the quick circle wireless charging case by lg, this case fits very well and tight without adding to much bulk, the cutout holes for the various phone buttons, camera, flash, and etc are also precisely cut leaving no extra unneeded spacing. This case offers pretty standard protection from you everyday run of the mill usage and accidents that may occur however with that being said i would recommend getting a good tempered glass screen protector to protect your screen from hardcore drops to use in conjunction with this case trust me I speak from experience (2 screens later lol) Lastly this case feels great in the hand it kinda has a matte feel it is not slippery like some cases of similar design and for true android fans this is a must have case the unique bugdroid circuitry design is a great eye catcher and conversation starter that will definitely grab attention and set you apart from the rest.
Edited.... Oops

I agree. Cruzerlite bugdroid cases are my favorite. Cool design, quality materials and protection without bulk.
By the way, the have better grip and they are lighter than diztronic.
One question. Which is your favourite colour?
Thanks.

Better grip and lighter than Diztronic? Man I may have to get one then. I love my Diztronic because of the feel and it's lighter than the Spigen slim armor. I've always liked pictures of the Cruzerlite Bugdroid cases. Now I'm going to have to get one.

thinnest cases

Does anyone have both of these and can compare?

The calicase says it is the thinnest and looks really thin but the nilkin seems interesting as well
i got the calicase and it is super thin almost feels like you are not using a case and i love it
I have the Nillkin Nature and love the case. I did purchase the Ringke Fusion Air for comparison as well, and it's thicker than the Nillkin Nature.

How is the grip compared to "regular tpu"? One of the reviews say it is really slippery.
Seems the Nilkin is thicker but also has some extra side grip... Hmm.
The Nillkin case is garbage - such thin TPU that it deforms easily. I have the Ringke SLIM and its a pretty decent choice for a slim case.
It is a little slippery but it looks fantastic
Unfortunately CaliCase doesn't seem to ship to the European Union...
Or outside of the US, for that matter...
man the calicase really looks perfect for me, unfortunately I'm in the EU also and they don't seem to ship here
i have the nillkin natura, it's perfect! the materials are great, and aesthetics of the phone is not damaged by the cover.
black color on s7 onyx black is great.
I have the calicase, and it's definitely the thinnest case I've ever owned. It also does not interfere with my coral edge to edge screen protector (which I'm not a fan of, but that's a different story). As others have stated, it's a little slippery, but not enough to really bother me.
i got the calicase and love it... not too slippery imho. soooo thin
I am another fan of the calicase. However, you should know that it makes the power and volume buttons nearly impossible to depress without trying more than once. Small drawback, but I still love it.

could you please post some pics with the Nillkin and the Ringke mounted on the phone, i'm interested in both(more in the Nillkin 'cause it's slimmer), i had it on the S6 and i loved it, but the S7 has the more curved edges and i wanted to see how it fits around the screen, i bought a very slim Rock TPU case and the edges are very sharp, and i have the feeling the the phone wants to get out of the case(it' aliiiiiiiiive )) ) thanks

I don't has have either case any longer. I'm now using the Rock thin tpu, Ringke Fusion and the Ringke Onyx.
The Nillkin didn't fit properly after I put a carbon fiber back skin and the Ringke Air was way too thick for my liking.
thanks, i have the Rock too but the edges are quite sharp, i already ordered the Nillkin ,i also have a protector on the back, a 0.2mm one, i hope the Nillkin fits well ?

The rock case I have isn't sharp at all. Might of been fixed?

Read the reviews. Looking for the cases with the best grip.

Grip seems to be overlooked sometimes when searching for the perfect case. The Tech 21 Tactical, my current case, does not have the same grip as the S5 version.
On the hunt for a thin to medium case with nice grip. Sweaty hands in the warm months and gloves in the cold ones. Considering the Incipeo Dual layer in black for the soft touch back. Had one on my old LG.
Spigen (never owned one) seems to offer some nice cases if you pick the right color. Considering the Spigen Tough Armor or the Neo Hybrid, both in black. The Neo Hybrid is a handsome case. Not sure about the quality of drop protection and grip. The Armor appears to be more robust, but how is the grip?
Would love some feedback from the community.
Thank you.
John
PS. The Zagg Glass Curve looks promising. Calling tomorrow.
I always recommend otterbox cases.
In the past they have been a little bulky and a bit slippery. Great cases. Very protective. I read the recent reviews of the S7. Looking for something that is softer. More give when you grip it. You feel it sliding or slipping and grab it and it stays.
Spigen Neo Hybrid is a nice case (have one on S7 and wife has one on S6) but doesn't match your grippy requirement. Especially not for gloves.

One from Spigen does a good job
Hi,
Below a link to the case I got:
http://www.spigen.com/products/galaxy-s7-case-liquid-crystal-liquid-crystal
I was previously a user of the Samsung transparent case for S5 (don't have the name at hand but there was only one model originally from Samsung) and that one was super grippy. Made a world of a difference on smaller ships and sailing boats - you could just put it down on anything and it stayed glued to it.
The Spigen one for S7 isn't as sticky but does the job. And it's transparent so the natural silver color of the phone stays there and looks good. Both in the hands and on a table surface the case does a respectable job.
Hope this helps
Cheers,
Jakub
I have the tech21 impact clear and the evo check. The impact clear has decent grip on the sides but it is not flexible tpu-like which the evo check reminds me of. The impact clear is more hard shell on the back which is not as sticky as the evo check. Both are comfortable in the hand. Not sure about the protection level though. Thinking both may be weak for phone drops.
Seido surface case would be good for you
Grippy with details entry protection
I have used them for years

Case, Skin, other for adding grip to slippery phone

I do not usually put my phone in a case because I do not like to add bulk. I like to keep it as slim and trip as possible. I am coming from a prior phone that had a rubberized surface on the edges and back (Droid MAXX - the original). The Pixel is a bit slippery for me.
I am curious what solutions people would recommend for the best way to add grip to the Pixel without adding bulk. Maybe I need to go with one of the thin cases, or maybe there is a skin that could help? I don't need to decorate the phone, but if there is a skin that helps it grip better I would give it a try.
Your options are case, skin, and naked. For cases, you're not going to get any thinner than the Nillkin Nature cases. I'm not a fan of the one I have but it's undeniably low in bulk. For skins, the are a ton of options and you'll have a variety of opinions but if you don't want a case, that's about your best option.
Some skins are grippier than others, even win a single manufacturer, so it's worth asking the manufacturer about it. For example, for dBrand their grippier skins tend to be the carbon fiber options.
Good luck!
I've said this in the other cases thread on here, but I'll post again just in case people don't know about that other thread.
Caudabe (http://www.caudabe.com) makes great, very slim cases for iPhones.
If you email/tweet them to make Veil XT for Google Pixel/Pixel XL, they might consider it.
You can try reaching out to Shumuri too (http://shumuri.com)
I wish that their was an antigravity case for the pixel... I can't stand mounts and would love to just stick my phone to my instrument panel
Based on my experience with them on other phones, a skin won't provide anywhere near as much grip as the surface on that Droid Maxx.
Instead, take a look at the thread on ultra-thin cases:

The Nillkin Nature cases are very slim and definitely add grip to the phone. You can see pics in my post here:

You can't go wrong with the UAG cases. The plasma series is surprisingly thin and light, but really has great edge and drop protection. they feel great in the hand. They are a little higher in price, but totally worth it.

+1. I received the Ice case yesterday; using it on the silver Pixel. I wanted a slim grippy case, one with black rubber to hide the darkening that occurs with time on rubbery areas of phone cases, and a clear back to display the silver/white of the phone. This case is PERFECT. It looks great. And the grip is fantastic.
I just received a blue Speck Presidio Grip and it's a very nice case for adding grip. The blue one is hard to find unless you pay quite a bit of $$ (I found a listing on eBay for used under $20) but the black version can more easily be found for under $20.
The case fits very well without being too difficult to take on and off. The added grip is good without being extreme. The hard plastic has a nice matte feel to it (the previous Speck cases I had was glossy but I like this better). And the buttons have a good clicky feel to them. It's not a minimalistic case like the Nillkin Nature but it's tons better than something like the Incipio Dual Pro.
Hope this helps somebody!
I've been meaning to try the DBrand skins for a while. Just ordered the bamboo version for my silver Pixel. Will update how it is. I have high hopes as the reviews are overwhelmingly positive.

I'm getting a Slickwrap skin. I've been using dbrand for a while now... Just want to try something different.
I've purchased two Toast skins now and I really like them. Because they are actual wood they are really nice and grippy with the added benefit of that if you drop your phone, the wood will absorb some of the shock. It's prevented a few dings for me. Plus they can laser etch anything you want on there...

I've had Toast on phones and laptops. Great products although I prefer them on non-phone devices because it's impossible to put a case over top of it and sometimes you just need heavy duty protection.

Hi

I have a best skins ever fitted with the glossy screen and matte body.
Also I have a qi receiver. You can see the USB port blocked by it
The buttons are cut outs so are quite recessed. I had a spigen case on just before that covers the buttons
This case is much less bulky than the spigen
The headphone port is possibly slightly wrong. If you have a headphone socket with a bulky top it might struggle. This is being picky though and I could just get a scalpel to it to increase the hole a mm
