I've searched the net but nothing came up.
Please include links/steps involved to make it happen.

No reasons to do it. A 5.1 port from the GPe version to the regular Ultra will soon be released, and your Ultra will run the same version as the GPe. You won't be able to receive updates OTA though since the partitions on the GPe and regular Ultra are different, so you would risk bricking your device if you'd try it.
Regular Ultra can flash and run two different "bases". Stock official Sony ROMs and AOSP, which includes the ports from the GPe.
The GPe can only run AOSP builds and not any official Sony ROM (without major work), so converting a regular Ultra into a GPe wouldn't be the smartest thing to do.
Just keep an eye on the development section here, and you'll have the GPe 5.1 ROM on your Ultra soon enough

So can it be done?
Flash the Google play edition ROM in the normal Z ultra?
And if it were fine would we receive updates from Google like the GPe?
I know the the ROM has already been ported the Xperia Z.
Sent from my GT-P6800 using xda app-developers app
They've ported it to the Z1, its just a matter of time
same here
even i m thinking about this since i heard the news about GPe version of ZU coming out.
i m so waiting for this to be reality soon.
im new to this community, can someone plz help me do this from scratch???
Ultra Z
I'm hoping, as someone who ineptly didn't backup the .img and .zip on a GPe device, that I can back to where I was prior to unbootlocking.
Thread here to give some love of the GPe to more than (the admittedly larger installed base) Z1.
Is there any hardware difference between the the Sony and GPE? As someone without any in-depth knowledge in rom building, one would say just extract and install on an unlocked Z Ultra? I am wrong, but why?
I think the problem is that the gpe uses different boot/recovery/bootloader configuration, there has already been one hard bricked zu from flashing gpe img.
The other problem is that if an gpe ota update flashes anything to the boot loader when running on a zu it will hard brick it.
I recently bought a z ultra gpe with the intention of flashing Paranoid Android onto it. I followed all the instructions to the letter, this isn't my first time flashing, and my phone is now stuck on the ROM's boot animation.
So, I suppose first off knowing whether or not this is even possible would answer my questions and I'll happily go back to the stock rom if it's not, but if I can flash any kind of z ultra rom onto the GPe then what is my issue with trying to get PA on mine?

No it wont work, you could try the CM or liquid roms in the GPe dev section... (looks looks CM11 has vanished)
Alright that make sense even though they appear to be the same device. How would I find and flash the stock kernel, recovery and rom for my phone then? Because I can't seem to find any of this anywhere.
I've done some searching but since my gpe is mixed with Sony's version of z ultra on xda, I can't find a straight answer. so I'm pretty sure its no. I wanna root and add a custom recovery to a z ultra gpe that's already on 5.0. I bought it this way.

The issue that I see is that the only safe way to unlock bootloader is to root first and back up TA partition prior to unlocking. As far as I know there is not an exploit to root 5.0 yet. @DooMLoRD posted some rooted images but never got around to posting instructions how to use them. I unlocked my bootloader on 4.4.3 GPe and everything was fine till 4.4.4 update which broke camera and only fix was to revert to 4.4.3 and not allow it to update.
Hi there! The GPE and regular C6806 are basically the same hardware wise, therefore, is it possible to turn my regular C6806 into a GPE?
That's what Scrubber's GPe port is. It's in the development section, so just download 5.1 and flash it. No, you won't be able to install OTA's when they arrive, but it'll run like the GPe.
Planning to get a new moto z from a carrier since theybare having a sale and not charging anything for the phone. Fiancé is planning to switch to that carrier anyway since her workplace and is switching all phones to it.
I liked the idea of the moto mod and was thinking of getting the new turbopower pack by Motorola instead of the incipio one. I read that the turbopower requires the moto mod platform to be at 1.6 for it to work. I believe the nougat update brings the platform to 1.6 right?
At the same time, I want to use custom roms on this phone and I read that going to official stock nougat updates the bootloader and brings problems to custom roms. So my question is, can custom roms update the mod platform to the latest while keeping the bootloader on marshmallow? Can we flash nougat custom roms while on marshmallow bootloader with no problems?
