How to move from custom ROM to Stock Lollipop - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

I assume I need to re-lock the boot loader?
Once I have done this, is it simply a matter of using the Sony companion software to flash the ftf file??

cannot on the phone. black screen. does installing the official ics rom helps?
Try starting it in Flashmode and re-lock the bootloader (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134335) so you can restore your phone with SUS or PC Companion
but i just realised i didn't set the debugging mode on
That's not incompatible with connecting the phone in flash mode (I think). Try and tell us the result (extract the battery, put it back, press Back button while you connect the phone to the computer and you have Flashtool opened)

That is only for officially unlocked BL's.

What does debug mode have to do with kernel?
Anw, just flash stock kernel, whether with fastboot.exe or with flashtool.
No need to flash entire firmware.
Now after that, say which kernel are you trying and how are you flashing it on your phone.

my phone has been rooted, but it is said that the ics of xperia u will be OTA soon,so i want to restore to stock rom an relock bootloader.anyone can help?thanks in advance
It will not be via OTA(the phone can't handle the amount of data)

Is your bootloader unlocked? If not then you need to go through the dualrecovery method from NUT.
What I suggest you do is use flashtool, connect your phone in flashmode and flash an official firmware ftf to bring back your system. After all that then you can go through the whole rooting and dual recovery again later.

[Q] Rooting Z2 after .167 (help needed)

Hi guys.
I really took my time and I have searched the whole forum, all the threads involving rooting and also googled the heck of it, but still I am not pretty 100% sure how should I root mine Z2 23.0.1.A.0.167 after update as in many threads I found different answers.
Could please someone point me how to root my Z2?
Specifications below:
- first time root
- no custom recovery
- bought as 4.4.2, now updated to 4.4.4 @23.0.1.A.0.167
- UK, unbranded
I would like to get root, have custom recovery, could flash custom roms/kernels, etc.
I will really appreciate any help.
Thanks.
1. Use flashtool to downgrade to 314 firmware (exclude data)
2. Root and install recovery
3. Flash 167 rom
4. Useflashtool to flash pre-rooted 167 firmware (excluding data and system)
This method would alow you to keep your bootloader locked
I recomend using the TA Backup tool to backup ur TA just incase you want to unlock your bootloader
(when you root your device on 314)

If you have a unlocked bootloader you can just flash a recovery and use it to flash A root zip

Thanks for the links.
I thought you can easily unlock bootloader via Sony code, as I checked mine in software info I would be able to do it, or am I wrong?
In case I have unlocked bootloader, I will just flash via flash tool for example the dual recovery, then flash prerooted rom and I am good to go right?
(when I will pass all of this I will write it over here)

Flash pre-rooted rom and flash a 167 FTF (exclude system and data)
If your on unlocked bootloader flash recovery and then use recovery to flash a pre-rooted rom

One more question, any way to get root before flashing whole rom so I can run titanium backup before I wipe the whole thing?
Get your backup before the process.

thought you had to be rooted to run TA Backup Recovery Program, so I would just first download the latest ftf from xepria firm, and then flash it with flashtool, then after first boot run the ta recovery program to recover my drm keys, then I would be at factory state with latest Factory Sony Recovery and Lollipop 5.1?
